This is where it would all begin. The Young and newly named Jarl of Skaal and ruler of Treerin village stood confidently. His shoulder sizzled as the ink from the Fairy Tail insignia finally vanished. The hooded fabric protected his skin from the eyes of those who would hope to catch him, while a cheap mask made of bone covered his face. This was going to be a rather quick job he thought. In the sky above him was Svartr, his ebony wyvern. The creature made no noise as she flew away. What she did when Vali wasn't with her was her business, the viking lord was just thankful to have her. Judging from how friendly Svartr was with other humans though, he figured humans weren't her prey.

Hidden in the shadows of the forest, the Titan watched his enemies fearlessly. The mission was to find a particular prisoner. According to the files Priscilla brought to him months ago, a prisoner from Iceberg had been in this dungeon for years. The files also clarified that this was the last Icebergan prisoner who fought in what The government has called "The Pagan Massacre". The pagan massacre... he thought. "The glory that title must give the leaders of Fiore, oh how much I ache to slay the masters of this country." He knew his day was approaching. Whether he had the heart to put the lives off his people over the lives of innocent Fiorians was still a mystery to even himself.

This was the first of many missions. With time, he would learn to accept the harsh reality of his mission. It was then only a matter of time before he rediscovered his love murder. With all the anger the Icebergan had built up, he felt it was necessary to release it all on his enemies. There was just no way that he could keep it in anymore. Icebergan Warriors put their lives on the line to protect this country...and for what? It has gotten Skaal nowhere. Vali was foolish to believe that he could trust anyone other than his own people. Fairy Tail was incapable of reciprocating the same loyalty he had given them- Aisha, Tomoe, even Sage had all abandoned him. It wasn't like they would have supported his journey for vengeance and so now he despised the entire country.

Before barging into battle though, he scoped the area. There were archers on roof of the tower, scouting for any enemies. From this distance Val couldn't see how many there were. Luckily their flash lights revealed at least where ten of them were. If I close the distance fast enough from where the flashlights reach, then I should be able to snuff out the two guards in front of the door without being noticed. At most, I can clear is a distance of twenty-five meters... Vali stopped mid-thought. Normally he would have made sure not to kill anyone but for some reason he was feeling like...like an emperor. As if he was obligated to kill these people here just because they were on the opposing side.

A few months ago his only objective was to blend in, have Fiore accept his people and then only when they were acknowledged would he avenge his brother. Who the fuck was he kidding? All this pent up rage he had. it was only a matter of time before he lost it. Since coming to Fiore he found himself fighting harder  here than he did back him. He fought to protect both Fiore and Fairy Tail, as if that would really prevent the government from hurting his people. He was foolish for thinking there could be another way. He was foolish for believing that he could change the purpose of voyaging to this country.

This place was toxic. His most-trustworthy friend betrayed him not even a month after arriving... His mother betrayed him only a month after that  and now Sage was dead. That in itself was betrayal. Had he been so stupid to believe that such a warm-hearted warrior could hold his own?  If only Val was there when it happened. With a nonchalant expression, Vali began to walk towards where the light from the flashlights reached. They were bright, but not brighter than sage's light. The winds howled as the trees whispered. The Gods were watching his every move. There was probably some sort of bet on his destiny too because the way things happened to him didn't make much sense any other way.

As the titan moved forward he activated two speed enhancing techniques creating blue and yellow bolts of energy around him. He then stepped forward and closed a distance of 25 meters in a second, almost immediately appearing between the two guards guarding the entrance. Needless to say that at such an intense speed, his enemies couldn't react quick enough. Vali wanted to have some fun though. With his right hand he would draw his dagger, quickly slicing the neck of the guard on his right. Before the other guard could shout or react, the Desiertan Elf grabbed his neck with his left hand, squeezing his hardest. The Rune Knight's mouth opened.

The Rune gasped for air, grunting and making little annoying sounds. The Jarl didn't feel bad. Just like his enemies felt nothing when they slaughtered his brother and his people. Val's eyes beneath the mask were wide. His mind was influenced by trauma, anger and confusion. He managed to convince himself that there were no innocent Rune Knights. He would go through anybody in order to avenge his brother and his people. "Shut up..." he whsipered to the Knight. Quickly Val lifted his hand before forcing his hand down his throat. The knight fought back but could not make a sound loud enough for anyone to hear him. Suddenly, the viking's hand grabbed ahold of something. "A fucking pawn." he delcared the Knight holding his trachea.

Both guards were dead. Vali looked at their lifeless bodies for a moment. Only seconds after killing them, he felt bad. However, he felt bad because he enjoyed it... not because they were dead. He forgot what it felt like to kill. He was a fucking viking for Odin's sake, this was who he was; a killer. Quickly he broke out of his gaze and turned towards the large heavy-duty metal doors. When pushing or pulling didn't work he focused on his fist. First a magical circle was created above it, then when he punched the door, it exploded with a  pink translucent energy. The sheer power of the spell was enough to break the door and wreak havoc from the inside.

Vali watched for a split second as the 2 meter blast of energy traveled through the dungeon connecting with every knight in the way. Suddenly an alarm screamed. About forty Rune Knights stopped to glare at Val while an extra door slammed and sealed the entrance. If the Rune Knights caught him he would surely have to die.

Ren Liath
It was supposed to be a quiet night for the young knight. He was on guard duty for one of the many dungeons that were in Era. Since it was the homeplace of the Knights it help the most amount of prisons and naturally the amount of prison escapes or rather escape attempts that happened was far greater than in any other part of the country. Even if it was a rarity it was still a possibility and something each knight was instructed not to take lightly. Ren of course was very serious about any commands given to him even if the others did not share this belief.

This particular dungeon Ren inhabited could barely even be classed as a prison. You could count the amount of people in cells hiere with a single hand and all of them were just there for holding until the next night or until someone paid their bail. The main purpose of the place though was essentially a quick learning experience for pages on how this system of the knights worked. And indeed the place was full of pages all of whom were beginning mages all aside from Ren. Still this did not stop these young recruits from acting bigger than they were. Most took this job lightly and messed around. “No one would bother attacking this place” one said “There’s not a soul here worth breaking out and god knows we don’t got any booze or money to enjoy!” It was this kind of behaviour which would let any half assed mage with a respectable amount of power to tear through the place even with all the numbers. If a Seated Knight were here or even a squire they would surely correct them. Even though Ren himself was about as strong as those ranking Knights he did not object.

Even with the superiority in power Ren never overstepped. He could easily floor the hundred or so Pages that were in this facility but for the sake of keeping his bridges intact he kept his mouth closed. That decision would prove fatal for some knights as the sirens blarred. Ren had been in the filing room sorting out the specifics for the few remaining captives. Trivial things like court hearings and the like. He dropped this immeaditaely though when the sirens blared. Earlier he had heard some raucous which happened to be the guards having their innards removed by the former Fairy Tail but not having seeing this he chalked up the sounds to some knights partaking in some tomfoolery. The siren suggested otherwise and so before he left he told the ten or so other knights with him to go request help from senior knights since the threat was unknown at the time. Once he did Ren would run to the main area of the dungeon. It acted as reception for those brought in but it was far from welcoming. So when Ren came with the other dozens of knights he was not planning on rolling out the welcome mat.

While the other knights just glarred Ren went into action. From the crowd he casted an S in the air and 4 sets of magic seals appeared around Vali. Not all pointing directly at him but should he stay still they all would hit their mark. The main idea of this spell was to get the man to move into a more ideal location. As after he casted the spell Ren moved out and unleashed his strongest spell in the hopes of catching the assailant in his dodge. Then again if he stayed put then it would also play out the same way, the only difference was that in the former strategy he could potentially take the man off guard. Once he entered the fray he saw the blood dripping from his hands and subsequently the two young guards who lay in an ever growing pool of their own blood. Some knights had gone over to help their comrades but even Ren knew that the deed had been done and they were no longer apart of this world. Ren stood there ready for the man’s possible retaliation. ”You are hereby under arrest by order of the Rune Knights for the murder of two innocent officers. Come quietly, this is your only warning.” he advised with his stance already set in place. He decided to take this free action after the attack and speak regardless of weather he retaliated or not. This was protocol after all. Still Ren found it odd. Why would he come here just to kill some lowly guards? Was he truly in need for such a confident booster? Regardless the man had committed crimes against this country and Ren’s pendant would debilitate him for such an act. The Rune Knight’s relic glowed around his neck as Vali would slowly feel his attributes fade. Would he still be foolish enough to try something though?

The Alarms echoed through the entire building and for a brief moment Vali and the knights traded gazes. The titan would not speak. The only words he'd share would be coming from his bare hands. This was probably the worse time to take life as a game yet the Jarl refused to not enjoy this. Quickly the masked viking looked around. He dug his feet into the ground, waiting for the right moment to move at superhuman speeds. This was the main floor so there were no visible cell, however he did see a door leading to a staircase only 15 meters beside him. Mostly though only offices and sections where officers and other officials did work. The knights quickly embraced Vali's shifting gaze and took their stances. Seeing that he was surrounded, the elf embraced for impact.

With his durable body, healthy strength and immense speed, there wasn't much room for Vali to lack confidence. When someone as young as him had the motivation to become powerful they usually became dangerous people in the future. Granted Val was already a beast, there was still much for him to learn. There were people out there who could easily beat him. However, he wouldn't rest until there was nobody left to beat him. This was a new Vali. A better Vali because now he would put his emotions to the side- except rage. He needed rage to become stronger. He needed rage if he was going to protect his people. He needed rage if he was ever going to make a difference. Maybe losing his sanity was necessary for all of this to happen. He would sacrifice himself if it meant saving Skaal.

In the middle of the crowd Val's eyes caught a certain knight using his finger to draw something in the air. He wasn't too blended in really. Compared to the other knights, he was the only one who looked confident. At that very moment the Jarl would activate a spell from his Vanguard armor, instantly moving forward and raising his left hand. Val had no idea what type of attack this Knight was going to use  but his only mindset was to get to him so he could quickly destroy him. Only a split second after The elf had started moving forward, four magic circles appeared around the space he was at last. Vali's speed wasn't the same as normal folk though. Especially because he had activated techniques that could make him a lot quicker on his feet. Considering the Rune Knight who had created this spell was only 15 meters away, in under a second from when he took his first step, he was already in front of his enemy.

Ren's mouth would just open when Val's hand connected to his face. Before he could use the spell, Vali would back slap him with all his strength- most likely turning his head towards the Knights to his right. Ren's spell would probably still be used, but it would be aimed at his colleagues instead of Val. Ren would probably not have time to react either considering the time it took to activate not one, but two spells back to back. If Vali's hit lended, Rens atttack would hit his peers and even cause the spell to destroy a hole in the wall. While Vali would still be moving forward at max speed until finally he was on the other side of the 100 x 100 meter floor to a door which covered a staircase that would lead to the lower levels.

After slapping Ren it would only take about 5 seconds for Val to reach the staircase. "Is that all?" he whispered to himself. Truth was, the Mighty Elven Lord was hoping for something a little bit more challenging. It began to hit him just how demons were able to takeover so easily. The people in charge of protecting this country were weak. If this is what rune knight power looked like then he would have no problem accomplishing this task. Perhaps he would destroy this entire building and release all the prisoners who knew?

This took the young Jarl back to The Day of Witches resentment. Back on Iceberg when he was abut seventeen years old a group of women who had been abused and beaten by men had managed to infiltrate Skaal and take about 50 boys. Apparently they were going to be sacrificed to Hera but Val and the rest of Skaals warriors were able to invade their dungeon and save every boy. The only difference between this mission and that mission is that the person he was going to save wasn't a boy. The rest was similar. The Rune Knights did resemble the women.

Everything else would be done pretty quickly. Vali wasted no time in scrounging around the dungeon to find exactly who he was looking for. In the process he had destroyed cells, killed guards and really clawed his way through the entire facility. He even broke most of the prisoners out. This entire task would be done with ease because no Knights were strong enough. The Elf was required to make his way through Rune Knights left and right, but it took him no time to retrieve the prisoner he was looking for. It was an old friend of his fathers. The only man known in the entire village to be a vessel of Fenrir. A person who should have been corrupted but remained a good heart and fought hard for his people.

Vali saved him because he deserved to be saved. He would never allow his people to die if he could save them. Using his Jotunn Cannon to break a hole through the dungeon walls, he escaped with his friend, leaving the dungeon damaged- but not too damaged. With his flight spell he placed the prisoner on his back and left.
