The Flower Festival seemed fun and everything, but what made Joan more excited about it was the fact that she would be celebrating it with Leyaria. She was not really aware of what she was supposed to be celebrating at the festival, so for Joan, it was to celebrate her reunion with her long lost best friend. She brought Leyaria back to her inn to stay with her until they left for Orchidia, even though Ley probably already had a place where she was staying at. Either way, Joan would force Ley to bring all of her things to come and stay with her at her inn.

Joan planned everything, starting from the date they were going to travel to Orchidia on, to the things they would do at the festival. The news of the festival spread like wildfire, so most everyone knew of the events that were going to be held at the festival. There were mini events and contests and all sorts of things like that, reminding Joan of the Halloween event that she was participated in last year. The night before, she had packed pretty much everything and by the next morning, they were ready to leave. Since she was fast at packing, she helped Leyaria to pack as well. The next afternoon, after they checked out of their inn rooms and were sitting in the lounge area of the inn, Joan grinned at Leyaria.

“Are you ready, Ley?”

The Struggling Demon

It still felt like a dream. Leyaria sat there at the foot of the bed while Bianca hastened around the room, organizing everything, preparing everything as though things were no different than in the past, as if time had reversed and things were as though they were in the past, before the last time they had spoken. It still left Leyaria floored, and she longed for a chance to speak with her, to finally give her the letters that she had written. They were mementos, a last chance for her to confess just what it was that she had been feeling, but with Bianca as excited as she was, it felt wrong to give them to her just now.

There would be a chance for her to read them. Just a matter of when. But there was also the other matter that she had yet to tell Bianca, and that more than anything else had her dreading what was to come next. She did not know how Bianca would react to it, and seeing her as excited as she was, Leyaria could not bring herself to tell her. Not yet. The thought of telling Bianca the truth, it tore her apart. She didn’t want to admit that there was a part of her that wished to never encounter her again, if only to spare Bianca the pain, but now that luxury was gone. She glanced up at Bianca, a smile forming upon her face.

“Can’t wait!”

The excitement bounced from Joan to Ley to Joan again and this was the first time the vampyress could feel genuine happiness since waking up from the coma. The were supposed to leave soon since Joan went out of her way to hire a carriage for the trip. She had the money, and wanted to enjoy the ride while sharing the latest gossip with Leyaria. The innkeeper confirmed that they had not left anything in the inn, and Joan shot up from the comfy sofa she was sitting on, picking up her bags and telling Ley to do so as well. She left the way out of the inn, and towards the carriage that was waiting outside for them.

She got in the carriage first, gesturing for Ley to follow her inside and take a seat. Once all of them were inside and ready to leave, Joan would signal for the driver to start the journey. She did not just hire a carriage for the travel. Joan also brought some sunflower seeds and things like that to snack on while talking. Her conversation with Ley throughout this carriage ride would cover all the topics that Ley had missed, including how she broke up with the only person she ‘loved’ and how she also managed to lose the gun he gave her and then proceeded to go into a coma after which she woke up having an identity crisis thanks to some unknown dark wizard who was messing with her mind while she was comatose.

It would seem as though time passed quickly, since they were deep in conversation, but after a few hours on the carriage, they came to the town called Orchidia.

A part of her wondered if she was wrong in not saying anything to Bianca. Though, it was far more important that right now, the two of them be able to enjoy themselves. So often, Leyaria had looked forward to something like this, and this was something that she could not understate just how excited she was about it. Festivals were things she seldom had a chance to go to, and this, this was going to be something that was even more special. It wasn’t just that the excitement level had gone up to levels that far exceeded that of festivals and events in the past, but also that she was going with someone extra special. She was going with Bianca! If there were ever a time in which she would have liked to go to something like this, it was with someone who mattered and she cared for as much as she did for Bianca.
