Akira Shimada
With her face pressed against the cold stone, Akira wondered if the wetness she felt in her eyes was going to dribble down her cheek. She hoped not, she hadn't shed tears in so long...

In the wee hours of the morning, when she stirred in the hospital bed... What the hell happened? First she felt shocked... then scared, finally, it brewed into an overwhelming sense of isolation... Then upon noticing Tsuru beside her bed, she felt relief to see him alive.

But panic tightened its vice-like grip on her, when she noticed the halo of darkness, seep out of her, sliced ever so often by white light piercing through it. She felt like she was going to explode. It made her nauseous, among other things... But more than anything, she was sure, she was a ticking time bomb. So Akira had slid out of the hospital, packed her bags, paid her dues and scooted off.

It wasn't just out of some selfish compulsions or fear for herself, that she was slinking away from her duties. In fact, for once in her life she had actually thought about others around her. If only she had her wits about herself and actually made a plan. Groggy and frail, Akira had nowhere to go. So she had ambled to the deserted park, as she considered her options. Till she succumbed to her exhaustion and she lay down...

No, I'm not just running away from the impending war... That'd be pointless now.

She reminded herself, to not have to deal with the additional guilt, she didn't have the strength for it. Her knees pulled up close to her chest, as she curled tighter. It felt weak, to be lying on a park bench, in this fetal position. But it was time to reassess her future... If she had one. Could she last? Would she make it? The sun was coming up, the first rays felt piercing in her wide fearful eyes. With shaky hands, the girl's finger combed through her sleek dark hair, before covering her face with the crook of her arm, the leather bracelet on her wrist sitting atop her ear.

With the little strength she could muster, she tightened her fists in frustration. That Benjamin Hunter had stolen her life from her. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the early birds, beginning to occupy the garden. 'I... have to move...' she told herself, spurring her body on. Finally, she pulled herself upright and wobbled on her feet. The last twenty-four hours felt like eons...

EVERYONE HAS A DARK SIDE
HAVE YOU HEARD OF OUT LORD AND SAVIOR, FETUS?

Oh how the day was marvelous. The sun was a beacon of hope to those lost. It would shine away the darkness of the ebony night and cast away those black shadows for a lighter shade of gray referred to as shade. Oh how these people seemed to enjoy these moments of the day. They were precious and needed to be savored in every last moment. Oh how great it was. . .  unless you were Mikiko.

Oh how the darkness seemed to plead to her, to ask her to read it another bedtime story. Oh the night, how it engulfed the sorrows and filled it with fear and misfortune. Oh how the-

"Now now, what have I found?" She looked before her, no further than a bench that was a hop and a skip away. Perhaps she was lost, for she seemed to carry all of her belongings. Was she like her master, the great heir to her deity? Perhaps she was one searching for a great pilgrimage. Perhaps she held in a great spirit that would feast upon the world and all of the lives that inhabited it. Ah yes, how grand it would be to meet someone who had so much promise... so much murder. . .

"Excuse me miss," Miki would begin, "I couldn't help but notice you're out of place. May I be of assistance to you?"

Ah yes, the human interaction. How grand. Perhaps this woman would serve of great use to the deities from above. Maybe soon, she too will become a full shrine maiden like Caitlyn before her.

Oh what joy!

Akira Shimada
The voice, that relaxed voice... Offering assistance, it reminded her of her healing partner. No, don't go there. she told herself. Before turning to face the woman who had offered help. 'Out of place? Ha...' Akira said laughing mirthlessly. 'If you were wise you'd stay away from me.' she said flatly, not an ounce of threat in her voice, just a statement of what Akira believed to be fact.

Akira's eyes were devoid of hope, much more than usual. She stared at the figure that had approached her, then like a drunken monkey, she swayed before falling back onto the bench in frustration. A soft hiss, escaped her lips as pain throbbed behind her forehead, making her sight a little blurry, she clenched her lids shut. Settling to stick to sitting on the bench till she could build strength again, she pulled her feet up again and rested her on her knees. But she rocked a little, muttering. 'I have to go... Can't risk hurting innocents.'

The same wispy darkness, floated around her, battling the newly instilled light. Ever so often they escaped the confines of her body. The darkness that had forever been her companion now behaved traitorously, whereas the light, sought power and to exterminate the stubborn darkness altogether. Akira groaned, her hands crawling to her temples, pressing into them, akin to what someone would do if they heard voices in their heads...

The woman seemed to linger, perhaps she had something up her sleeve that she was confident off, but Akira was past hope. Waving her hands through the smokey dregs and the shards of lights that interrupted them, to indicate the turmoil inside, that spilled outside... 'I don't think anyone can help with this...'

That smell, that wonderful smell. Oh how she missed thee. Such grandeur! IT lingered over this woman, that great fantastic aroma. It was a beautiful sight. It was a blessing given to her from her gods to find this woman. That sacred scent. That magical poise that held itself around them. Ah yes, the aroma of helplessness. The feeling of decay and death. It was pleasant. It was perfect.

Mikiko laughed. She couldn't help it. She couldn't hold it. It was such a prefect place for her to test the power that was gifted to her lost soul. This was a moment to prove herself. It was the perfect scenario.

"If that was the case, why did you pick a place where all of the townsfolk will soon gather?" She laughed, that grin held on her face. It was something out of a horror movie, but it was the same smile that her master before her held in these moments.

"I can help you. And besides, I'm no innocent that would be worth worrying about." She took in that aroma once more. a deep inhale through her nostrils. "I sense that you, have yet to gather the power of the dusk and dawn."

She laughed again, looking up at the sky to enjoy that sunlight that was beginning to shine.

Oh that fantastic scent . . .

'I didn't intend to be here...' she responded, still pretty flat, should have been obvious, she was hardly in the state to move. 'Too... tired.' she added, still defending herself. It was uncharacteristic, but maybe she could get this woman to help her up and out of the park if nothing else... She contemplated while chewing on her lip. Akira was compelled to ask the woman to buzz off, but she was hardly in a state to do anything to make her anyway. It was time to make the best of whatever time she had left.

'What are you then?' she asked, softly... turning to her side, her cheek against the tattered and battered fabric of her dark jeans. The girl was struggling to keep the words in order, her eyebrows that would have usually been cocked way up high, only twitched. The woman was looking so pleased with herself, Akira felt like her favorite dish like she was going to be consumed or something. If only she hadn't been terrorized enough in the last few hours, perhaps the Shimada would have been creeped out.

'I have a civil war going on inside me and you call that power?' she said extending her arm outward, towards the grinning one. 'Whatever.' she said sighing, that one was probably delusional and crazy. Just my luck. the sixteen-year-old thought. 'If you're so keen on helping, do it by getting me out of the garden, somewhere isolated would be nice... away from people...' Akira requested, rambling with redundancies. In her current state, the request probably came off more a statement. 'Just in case... I-' Akira didn't really want to use any dangerous words like explode in connection with her being, she just swallowed, cleared her throat and went on to sweetened the deal 'In return, you can do your thing on me ok? Your sort of help okay?'

Oh the fool. The girl was so willing to lend her life in the hands of Mikiko.
Ah, but was that not the shrine maiden's goal? For now, the girl was served on a silver platter. Should she have been a Devoted, her life would be sealed,
her soul eaten, her mind taken. She would succumb to the madness of all of the Manji Devotees. She would serve them well . . . .

"And so, I will seal the deal." She spoke, this time monotone and cold. There was no joy behind her words, there was no longer an expression on her face. She was enlisted for her service, and thus was obliged to assist the woman. She would crouch beside her, taking her arm over her shoulder behind her head. She would stand and lift the woman with her, her right hand free from the woman, would take up the bags with her grasp.

It was her duty to serve those requested, and to obey orders from the gods above. It was their duty, and she was one who always did as she was made out to do.

She knew the place. It was her haven for now. There was safe houses all over Fiore. They were placed from ages before and maintained by the Manji Followers that had begun to rise, as well as the great guild of Phantom Lord. But none would carry the latter fact unless they held onto the strings of fate that their god dangled before them. The foolish mortals.

She would walk there, if the woman allowed it. There was no need to try anything in the open. The name of their clan, their cult, their gathering, their club, was growing, and would have to remain secret. For now, Mikiko was the traveling shrine maiden, and she would change the world one person at a time. Her task, was much more small compared to those of the bloodline.

There, it would be a large and open room. In the middle would house a bag full of her belongings. There was two windows, but both would be covered with paint and several boards. Light could get through in spots, but none could see out or in. It was a single room, illuminated by candle lights and lanterns that covered the corners of the room. There was four large lanterns at each corner and several candles between each of them, spaced randomly, as if they were in a rush. They would be lit before they would arrive, as if to say she intended to return, or if another had been there before them.

Mikiko would lay the woman in the center of the room beside the bag. If she was going to stop this war, she needed to understand the players and the landscape that was invaded.

"I am Shrinemaiden Ko-Wa.." she would say. "Before I can aid you, you must tell me of what lays within you." She spoke calm, unlike before. "Your answer, will decide what I must do, to free your potential."

Akira Shimada
There was definitely something very strange about the one helping Akira. The way her intonation changed, like her emotions... almost like her entire being had been stolen away from her. The flatness of the voice mimicked Akira's own... Maybe that was the intent? Within moments, she helped Akira back on her feet, naturally, Akira's arm curled around her torso to help keep balance as they two clutched on to help the sixteen-year-old hobble away from the park.

Akira wondered where she was being taken, but she was saving her energy, just because it was likely that she was going to die, didn't mean that she wouldn't even put up a fight. Through the streets, that Akira was yet to familiarise herself with, they trotted along, till she pauses at the threshold of something that looked like a warehouse, but Aki's vision was failing her rapidly and she leaned against the wall while the woman arranged for them to find their way inside.

Fire... in the lanterns, in the candles, they were glowing blobs in Akira's mind. As the sun rose outside, some light seeped through the paint-blurred windows. She was plopped next to... a sack... A bag of some sort. The girl narrowed her eyes to try and get a better focus and absorb some details but to no avail. Feeling more and more disoriented, she felt like she was going to start fading in and out of consciousness, nonetheless, the woman's voice anchored her for the moment.

'Shrin- wha-?' Akira cleared her throat and tried again since her voice was barely a whisper. 'Ko-wa?' Akira almost snickered, for some reason that sounded funny, but the pain behind her eyes was steadily growing. Something about this whole ordeal felt ritualistic, Akira was never one of such things, but she couldn't back out of the deal now. 'Er... Well, I'm not sure what you mean... But...' Akira needed more clarification, but she did the best she could.

'I used to be a dark-dweller... Term I coined for my darkness type magic.' she added, her eyebrows furrowing as she tried to concentrate. 'Then... that man... That Benjamin Hunter' she said through grit teeth, venom in her tone as she spoke his name. 'He did something... and I had light inside me... I felt like I was going to be torn apart...' Akira added breathlessly. 'Woke up in the hospital... the forces inside, made me feel like death.' she finished. The woman's face faded out of focus and then her lids closed.

HAVE YOU HEARD OF OUT LORD AND SAVIOR, FETUS?

She was right all along. it would seem that the girl of her choice was in fact, worth her time. It was these moments that were the most rewarding. It always let one know that their intuition was correct. It fed their instinct and refined them. It polished them. It was a treat.
And she was an attach dog . . .

"Then perhaps this is much simpler than I had thought." it was only then, that a hint of a smile arose. There was no challenge. It was something seen all too often, and in fact, had happened to her not long ago. She opened the bag, reaching in. Several smaller contents would fall onto the ground. Small bones and bird skulls. Vials of colored liquids, some dense, some clear, three of different colors. A clear green. A Solid red. A strange glowing blue. Lastly, a brush that was for ones make-up. Perhaps she was normal after all. . . perhaps . . .

Mikiko would pull out a small blade from the bag, her eyes fixed on the edge of it. The end would slide across her right hand, her left holding the blade. Blood would begin to spill from her palm. She would face the girl, only to wipe her hand over her forehead, the blood dripping down her face. It was an odd sight to see, and would be horrific to some. She would grab the back of the girl's head with her offhand, the knife still in her grasp, but careful to not wound the girl.

"May the makers guild your soul into the rivers of choice." her eyes would lock with Akira's, even if she did not look at her. She would pull her head closer, to allow their foreheads to touch. She would hold the both of them there for no more an a few seconds. Enough to speak.

"Praise be to the ones that walked this land before us." Mikiko continued, her eyes closed. "You don't need to believe in gods, girl." she would tell her, moving along smoothly. "But I can assure you this knowledge is not that of my own."

She would release the girl, giving a distance between them both. The place where they met their skin would leave a red oval, or circle rather on the girl's forehead in Miki's blood. With her right hand, her forefinger would trace a crescent on the lower end, below the shape that existed.

"SUBMIT YOUR SOUL, TO THOSE LONG LOST. ACCEPT THE LIGHT INTO YOUR SOUL AND ALLOW YOUR ESSENCE TO GROW!" She would begin to grow loud.

Which honestly had no need in this ordeal. She was just over dramatic.

Akira Shimada
'Simple... What about this is simple...?' she groaned, through grit teeth, a little irked that her conflict had been diminished to something so elementary. The dull throbs in her head, now giving way to periodic sharp stabbing pains. she felt her energy being sapped with every passing second. Akira was now sure she wasn't even capable of moving her muscles. Anxiety bloomed inside, she'd basically just rendered herself useless and then trapped herself in a room, to be at the complete mercy of another, a stranger at that, a rather strange stranger.

Slowly she angled her head, so her cheek brushed the floor, tucking her chin in to cast her sights on the various artifacts that tumbled out of the bag, like a patient looking at implements before going under for a surgery... She swallowed. Even if this Ki-Wa had noble intentions, there had to be a catch right? There was always a catch. It appeared in the form of a blade, the glint of which shone in Akira's eyes, causing her to squint instinctively.

'Er...' Akira hesitated. Her body tensing... Is she going to cut me up? the girl though, but she had other plans. The blade instead drew blood from one of the woman's hands. Akira traced the path of a drop of blood, that must have pooled in the creases of the woman's palm before falling to Aki's side. What happened next, made Aki wretch, inside... She wanted to convulse as the hand smeared crimson against her skin, thanks to her limitations, physically she could merely twitch... Choice. her mind lingered on that word.

'The f-' she gasped, losing most of the word. She then pulled Akira upward while crouching over her... Please don't tell this requires us to seal the deal with a kiss or something. Akira thought, balking inside. But instead, their foreheads touched... reminding her of the sticky blood on her skin. But then, she felt a dull burning against the top... and the sharp slicing pains faded to dull throbbing again. When she finished tracing the half-moon, the throbbing began to ebb too. For real....? 'S-So this is some strange ancestral technique?' she asked a little intrigued. The darkness and light calmed, receding into deeper realms offer her subconscious, steering clear of one another, but not at odds anymore... Could they really peacefully coexist?

'OK!' Akira just exclaimed in response to the ritualistic order. 'OK Ok! I accept it?' she said doubtfully, unsure if she really had to partake in this and respond, but wincing at the way the voice echoed in the room, she wanted it to stop. Nonetheless, it all seemed worth it, at least the pain was subsiding and her strength was returning. Only a small sting remained on her forehead, her fingers went to assess the area... She couldn't make out anything unusual, except the flecks of drying blood. 'I'm going to be just fine?' that was a little anticlimactic.

She blinked her eyes at the girl. She would reach into the bag and take a scarf and wrap it around her hand. It wasn't a bandage but it would do for now. She twisted her view at the girl, her head turning to the side. Something was missing. Was she wrong? Did she miss a step?

"I guess so." she said it, like a child who had gotten what she wanted, only to discover her toy was not all it was cracked up to be. "The last time I preformed this on my mentor she broke out in a fit. I expected the same."

She was disappointed. it would be nothing like watching Caitlyn curl up and lash out at all that was around her. She seemed to explode with a surge of energy. Her third eye was-

Oh. Right.

She twitched her free hand, dropping the blade. She would reach out, stopping herself, then setting her hand on her lap again. A second time she would reach for the girl's forehead.

"Perhaps this will. . . ." She balled her hand into a fist, her thumb leading her hand. It would press onto the center of the shape and she would twist it a ninety degree angle clockwise.

Perhaps then the blood would flake off, and perhaps her magic would flourish all at once, or perhaps Mikiko was not as skilled as she wanted to be. But even so . . .

All of the candles' flames would be extinguished. . . and the room would be swallowed in darkness.

Akira Shimada
The way the Ko-Wa looked at her like she was some sort of a massive let down brought bitter feelings to the girl's mind. It reminded her of all the times people stared at her funny like she was no good... 'Hey... what... What is it?' she challenged, her voice was clearer a little softer too, almost like she was gifted with a gentle melodious lilt suddenly. The difference startled her a little, she cleared her throat and tried again. 'What?' the voice remained the same, in fact, it gained some more clarity. It was a bit strange but it seemed to be an improvement from her usual drone.

'You want me to break out in a fit?' Akira asked, raising her eyebrows, wondering what kind of a healer would want to induce an uncomfortable sounding side-effect. Then the thumb approached her, Akira wanted to smack it away, but while she felt quite astute mentally, her physical strength still seemed a bit weighed down... Her reflexes were slow, she'd barely lifted her hand before the thumb made contact and twisted.

It was such an odd gesture... Like someone flicking forehead or something felt a little demeaning for some reason... Her skin wrinkled with the touch, and some more dried blood was dusted off. Akira screwed up her face. 'Oi-' she protested. But her protest was interrupted midway. She felt a gentle warmth radiate from where the finger had touched her, the heat seemed basically limited by a shape... Two shapes, something circular and something sickle-shaped under it... Much like the shapes she had traced with the blood. Akira frowned, that seemed to intensify the sensation, but it was rapidly fading into a less distracting tingle.

Then it happened, just as the lights blew out, it felt like the magic within her, drew her up to a standing stance, picking her up from her chest. Once she was upright, she felt the tingling traverse over her entire body, like the light and darkness within were gently persuading her to... release all this newfound energy. There seemed to be an urgent threat in this persuasion, like if she didn't succumb to the wishes of these magical entities they might turn against her. So she gathered herself and began performing the spells she knew.

First, she raised her arms over her head and down again, using the darkness around her and within, to create a large sphere around herself... It knocked over a few crates that were scattered near her. Next, she interlaced her fingers and managed to channel the light into her, to create two look-alikes... She turned towards one, and noticed it grinning, Akira realized the light clone was just mimicking her expression. 'This is wicked.' Akira said, quite joyfully. She went on casting her basic spells, amused to know that some of them had changed their element alignment to light, instead of dark. While the channelizing wasn't perfect, she was able to hold the spells briefly. Darkness was definitely still more natural to wield, but the light wasn't killing her. She fisted her hands and joined them together to release a pretty wide beam of... light. It made her a little giddy to see the room glowing with her beam.

In quick succession, she tried her other basic spells, destabalize to knock some crates around some more, and disperse to break into small shreds of darkness and materialize in the corner of the room. Feeling a surge of confidence and power, she waggled her eyebrows at the woman who had aided her. 'How do you like this for a fit?' she said, her spell of jovialness quite surprising too... The girl took a few deep breaths, just to not risk wearing herself out, before trying some of the slightly more advanced spells she'd recently trained, wondering which of them would switch elements...

She would observe the lightshow that danced in darkness. It was pleasing, and for her, fed her own magic. That was the price that was being paid, even if it wasn't to the knowledge of the girl. The more she cast, the easier it would be to learn, but she knew the likeliness of being able to see each spell a few times was out of the question, she would settle for a dozen spells seen once. For now, she was finally given garden to pick flowers from, and her flowers were rightfully unique.

She couldn't help but smile. It was a grand sight to see, and she had no idea the reason. She would reach into her bag for a remote, only to press a single button for the lights to come on. From the ceiling, dozen of flood lights would illuminate the room and from it the stains of blood on the upper ends of the wall were seen. With candle light it was hidden in the darkness, but now, all of the struggles of the room were shown. What was this woman?

"Usually people are less fortunate, but if you are taking this so well, I can only imagine your power is far greater than expected." She gave a soft laugh before leaning back in a more relaxed position. "You are feel to go a any time you please, but if you would like to stay and practice your skills, you are more than welcome."

From the far side, the side of the room opposing the door they entered would show to not be a wall at all. It would be a small wooden divider that seemed to act as a faux wall under candle light. Behind it was assorted cardboard boxes and other various crates, along with training dummies and various broken weapons. Whatever this place was, it had more purposes than the girl allowed.

And perhaps it had much more history than they would ever account for,

The incandescence that filled the room would've made Aki squint, but her own spells had already helped her eyes grow accustomed. Upon pausing, she looked at the woman again as she spoke. 'Really? You mean there was a chance I would've not made it after all...? Oh well, lucky me...' Aki responded, eliciting a chuckle from the woman. The girl wasn't really too mad about being subject to experiment, she'd assumed she was a goner before this whole... ritual. So Aki didn't curse the luck that saved her, or questions it too much.

'I feel fine enough to leave...' she muttered with a small frown on between her brows as she considered things. She wondered what Tsuru would gather when he found her frolicking around after sneaking out of the hospital. Just out of curiosity, wondering if Tsuru had tried tracing her footsteps, she covered her eyelids to cast, Luminare to check a few meters outside the room, scan the area for her partner's form... She couldn't make out anyone that resembled him, there were only a few people she could see within her range anyway.

The fake wall slid with a soft rumble and sought her attention. The room almost doubled in size and some targets were revealed for Akira to employ. 'Oh yeah...!' the dark-haired girl exclaimed, with a wicked smirk on her face. 'I've always wanted to try stuff on dummies... Training feels so professional with them, I guess I'll stick around for a bit, but I promise I'll be out of your hair soon...' Akira said, without really waiting for an answer, she decided to try the spells she'd mastered before the duel that earned her the element of light... She rubbed her hands together to make her Chain Kunai first, which still stuck true to its initial element. She released it so it pierced the dummy's shoulder, with a slightly sour face she pulled the weapon back to her. 'Still, need to work on my aim...' she muttered.

Next, she clicked her fingers to produce the hot coin in the other hand. Squinting she opened her hand to see if the tiny ammunition was a bundle of light or darkness... A perfect circle lit up in the centre of her palm, she closed her fingers over it again and storing it in her pocket, it'd be unwise to blow up a part of the room by flinging the coin anywhere... The healing woman would probably find that to be an ungrateful gesture. As she closed both her hands into fists, she unwittingly cast Dominate and it was still her loyal and friendlier darkness that came to her aid. Feeling the surge of energy, she dashed to the closest dummy and threw a few jabs and kicks, till little wisps of the material inside the dummy poked out.

She also realised the element of light was the one that poured out to create the unnecessary defensive shield when she cast Limit. She moved it around, directing it with the palm of her hand for a while, just to reassess its range and dimensions, light still felt strange to wield, the girl just shrugged. 'The next one is something I've barely mastered...' she warned Ko-wa, turning towards the woman. She traced the shape of a bow in front of her and a crossbow made of light materialized. It was pointed straight at the woman and Akira's trigger-hungry finger accidentally released one arrow towards the healer. Luckily it missed, flying by the woman's torso...

'Oh... Sorry... I didn't mean to... er... thank god for my bad aim eh?' Akira fumbled with her apologies and added a reassuring nervous chuckle. She, of course, truly had no intentions or reasons for attacking the woman. Nonetheless, in case the woman doubted her intentions, now was a good time to take her leave. 'Er... yeah... I best get going.' She said as she began slinking towards the door. 'Thank you for everything.' Akira said, swallowing and dashing out of the room, she continued running, till she felt far enough from the room. 'Damnit, where am I exactly?' she muttered to herself.

She would remain seated and still as her guest did about her bussiness. To her luck, she williningly deloyed her full arsenal. Miki's eyes were open enough to watch and observe. Most of it she saw, but did not fully understand, it was something she would have to learn should she take it upon herself to add these spells to her own collection.

It was then that a chain and knife appeared and struck the dummy in the distance. It missed its mark, but it had found its own place to amuse her.
