Odin †

It seemed that Odin's work for the Bishop had given him something of a name within Dahlia, as he wandered through the dark streets, noting how many people avoided his gaze or locked their doors the moment he walked past. Honestly, there was probably multiple reasons for that being the case, only one of them being due to his work for Santos in rooting out all the 'evil heretics'. He had killed for the bishop, twice, and framed those who were innocent by covering their houses in blood and gore, as well as summoning circles. There had been undeniably placed proof that the men were heretics who wanted demons to ravage Dahlia and capture the souls of those who lived there. The reality was that they had wanted to remove the evil Bishop from power, but he had heard of their antics and put them all to death because of it, using the evidence planted by Odin himself. It was morally wrong, but a dark mage like the Lich, not to mention the fact that he was, in fact, a Lich, made morals a very unnecessary thing at the best of times.

Odin had actually visited the men, and watched their execution in the main square of Dahlia, hood raised so as not to attract any attention. A hanging, with the rope curled around their necks, all the while the men screamed that they were innocent, a fact known only to Odin and the Bishop. The hanging was an interesting sight, more because of the crowd than the victims. Humans were very primal in nature, Odin knew this well having dealt with many different types of them, and it was known to him that the mob could be worked into a frenzy no matter their morals. The three farmers were obviously innocent, and anyone in the town that knew them could have easily attested to that and started a riot. But the spectacle of the hangman's noose, and the screams of panic of the men about to die, it riled the crowds up. Men, women, even a few children cheered as the men died, it was truly an interesting thing to witness.

But tonight was a new night, with a new request, and a new note from a stranger. A man only known as 'the Heretic' wished to meet with Odin to discuss a partnership. The note required the dark mage to be at at specific place at a specific time, which he did without any issue. Arriving five minutes earlier to check for an ambush, Odin eventually saw a frail old man approach, wearing only a red robe that covered his entire form. Despite his frail figure, he spoke with the voice of a commander, or of someone who knew how to lead men. The first few moments were spent with the man, who introduced himself as Adarian the Heretic of the Red Hades cult, marvelling at Odin's form, no doubt having never seen a Lich before.

Odin †

Eventually, after a lot of marvelling at Odin's skeletal form, Adarian described the nature of the quest that he wished to be done. It was a rather simple one, and Odin was simply being used because the cult, which was introduced as the Red Hades cult, was being watched by the church. Making no motions, Odin inwardly smirked at this revelation that he was about to help the enemy of Bishop Santos, after having just helped the bishop himself. Money was money, and Odin was more than willing to play both sides so long as he was the one who came out on top, which he would make sure he would be.

His task was to sneak into the cemetery, and break open a few burial caskets that had not yet been buried. A family: husband, wife and young daughter had recently died and were going to be buried, but they were also fresh enough to spark the interest of the cult leader, who was seemingly adept at necromancy, an art that went very well with Odin's new abilities of darkness. The dark mage wasn't allowed to use magic to break the caskets, as it would taint the corpses within, but he had his blades so that was easily doable, all he had to do was get in, complete his task, and get out without being detected. How hard could that be?

Apparently, quite hard indeed, as it seemed all of Dahlia had chosen this exact night to pay their respects to their dead loved ones. The cemetery was nearly full of people, making it even more difficult for a dark mage, and a Lich at that, to make his way through without attracting attention to himself. Luckily, all of Dahlia kept to themselves, meaning he wasn't likely to get shouted or acknowledged until afterwards. The issue would be breaking the caskets without making a noise, as the dark mage approached the three corpses, noting how one was a lot smaller than the other two. The daughter had been described as young, but this girl had perhaps only been around for two or so years. Such a waste. As much as Odin was a dark mage, and not afraid to take a life if it was necessary, he didn't like killing those that were younger if he could avoid it. The children he killed for Santos were part of a mission, and so there had been no hesitation, but this two year old had likely just been murdered for being in the house as her parents. Like Odin said, such a waste.

Breaking the caskets was relatively straightforward, as the dark mage just used his knives to slice chunks out of the caskets, rendering them unusable for burial, and suiting the needs of Adarian. Since he had been effectively silent in breaking the caskets, no one was alerted to his actions, and he could leave the cemetery with ease, returning to Adarian and collecting his reward, noting that the old man spoke of requiring him in the future.
