A growl that punctures from the depths of his throat, vicious and savage like the abominable chimera that casts a large shadow over the trembling woman, her eyes averted in abject terror. But the snarl she hears comes not from the monster, but from the wolf howling in savage rage to defy tragedy as fate has written. Luka's heart bursts in his chest, adrenaline puppeteering his body in desperate ways he's not accustomed to, and with a twisted coil of his body, he pivots in the air to rend the creature with his infernal claw.
A hiss of heat against rotted flesh and black embers fade to ash as soon as they hit the dirt - the creature reacts and bats away the wolf, sending him tumbling across the earth. A cough of blood from the blow and humbled as he may be, it does nothing to muzzle the wolf's fury. Another lunge from the wolf. And yet another strike from the creature in the response that sends him reeling. Reckless, far too reckless for his fragile body, but he keeps standing. A quick shift of his glance to see the lady tremble, wobbly legs that struggle to remain standing, and he barks out, "GET OUT OF HERE! RUN! NOW" There wasn't time for jokes or gentleness, a call to action as he put himself between the monster again, dancing between laggard strikes that caused his aching limbs to throb violently.
"C'mon, mate. You're... You're slowin' down a bit aint'cha? Don't you just wanna crawl back into whatever shithole you crawled out of?" A dry smirk creases his blood-tinged lips, chuckling under his ragged breaths. "Well, too bad. You're too dangerous to be left alive. So you die, sorry~ Even if it kills me."
I'll be the last person you hurt...
Each time he's knocked down, Luka forces himself back up, ensuring he gives more damage than he takes. Nothing matters at the moment. Not his life, the future, the past. It's all irrelevant. Kill and be killed. That's all he can do to set the record clean - to make it all make sense. He would keep fighting this battle forever until the monster fell, skin flayed and scorched by the somber flames. Luckily for Luka, it would not take so long. Quiet. Everything is so quiet now.
So tired. Just a quick nap...
Luka doesn't remember how he got in this bed, staring at an unfamiliar ceiling covered in bandages and precise sutures. But the nurse is kind enough to tell him that the woman he helped was safe.
