Dominic, Clergy of Light The sun vanished over the horizon and the orange glow of the sky was fading into twilight, the night was beginning to crawl through the sky. Dominic had left the Orchidia Church, though from the eyes of an onlooker, it seemed the church wasn't prepared or unable to house the unexpected visitor, but the clergyman from Magnolia had a strong feeling that Brother Mathis was sending him away for some reason. Now the Archiver of the Kardia Cathedral walks along the path deeper into the city where he can find a hotel and spend the night. It was odd, normally a visitor, especially a clergyman, would be offered a bed at a church, which brought up suspicion, now he would have to settle for a rented room. Though he wasn't complaining, he was simply worried about the rumor that had reached the ears of his parish. He didn't ask about the missing people, if there were any, but he hoped it would be brought up by Brother Mathis, unfortunately, the clergyman seemed oblivious, but Dominic had to remember that this rumor was simply that... a rumor. Dominic sighed deeply, feeling as if he was overthinking. He already made his plan, to turn in for the night, then visit the church during mass the following day, then he'll take the time to investigate further if possible. He would look up to the beautiful approaching night sky and whisper a prayer, hoping for guidance, then he would spot one of the many ravens that fly the skies of the north, "A prayer to Illumin to guide me, and a prayer to the raven spirit, may she protect her people" he said as he tightened the cloak around him, feeling the chill breeze against his body. He wondered if that chill was an answer from either Illumin or the guardian spirit of the North. Regardless, if there are people who are in trouble, then somehow a light needs to reach them. 329 |

Lumikki of Iceberg
"One is an Omen, Eight for a wish"
Lumikki and her flock awaited the wayward priest, should he exit the bowels of the church anytime soon. Lumikki would give him an hour at most, before receding back to her den, but it would seem like the man hardly took thirty minutes before being spat back upon the steps to walk within the night alone.
”Curiooous….” Lumikki mused, the man did not seem to walk with a purpose. He was not on some errand or mission from what she could infer. Rather, he seemed to be walking around rather aimlessly. Looking for something she did not yet know.
The flock slowly descended upon them, surrounding him by the time he made a simply prayer. Calling to those of the Illumin was to be expected, however, the stray show of respect he afforded her and the ravens was…jarring. Lumikki shifted into a glide, coaxing her path to that which would let her languidly soar beside him and settling into a soft pace to match his own. A few of her birds would follow suit, surrounding him much like she did, though they kept a bit of A distance.
”Keep yer prayer priest. Yer like only cares for the white of wing. Lumikki already said too much as she knew it, but the notion of being beseeched by the vial opposition vexed her temper. Enough to act on her ire and voice her thoughts before pulling away again. The only thing that stopped her entirely was a curious question. ”Why did ye send a sphere of light?”
"Pity those who hold the gaze of me flock."

Dominic, Clergy of Light It was a surprise to Dominic when he had heard a voice. He immediately came to a halt and looked about, but the only living creatures that were in the vicinity were the ravens who flocked about him. It didn't come to his attention until that point that there was a flock of them that were flying about him. For a moment he had wondered if it was one of the ravens who had spoken to him. His suspicion would be confirmed when he heard the voice again, mentioning the sphere of light. He remembered the sphere of light, a chill ran through him as the breeze blew against the grass and his cloak... was the raven spirit the citizens hinted about now present? "Forgive me if I overstepped" Dominic gave a slight bow out of respect, his hand to his chest as he held his position, trying to show he means no harm. The spirit seem to have no trust or liking to people of the cloth. It wouldn't be too farfetched if she is a spirit of the land. The faith of Illumin and the faith of Nahuatl have had clashes, spiritual practices seem to be across the river from one another, or at least that what it felt like in his own home growing up. Dominic had no hate or dislike for pagan spirits; he would actually enjoy researching about the Nahuatl spirits, seeing how they interact and protect the land and people that call to them, he saw this as a beautiful thing, despite the church being opposed to other faiths, "The light I had sent in good faith, as a token of respect as I enter your land for the first time... and of hope as I try to complete my mission" he thought the rumor and wondered if he should ask the raven spirit. He hesitated for a moment as the ravens flew about him, black feathers all around, unknown if they meant harm or not... but he took a leap of faith. "May I ask, raven spirit... have you heard of any missing people recently?" 355 | 684 |

Lumikki of Iceberg
"Eerie befalls the one to hear a raven’s song"
At first, Lumikki remained quiet. There was no need to answer him just yet and she rejoiced in her silence. With the features of a raven, it was hard to tell her mood. The best one could do was decipher the ferocity in which she flapped her wings.
”Quite the surprise…” Lumikki murmured, irritation was clear on her cold and near monotone voice. Her final word held the most sharpness. ”Not like yer kind to be considerate or thoughtful at all…” But his response was slowly winning her, this was an outlier action she couldn’t ignore, paired with the tribulation of her recent escapade. Or….could this be some elaborate trap? The thought didn’t linger however as she remembered just how arrogant they were. Too much so to harbor any kindness for the other….
And then he asked the magical question…..Its simplicity and brazen delivery caught her off guard, causing her body to jitter in something akin to excitement. ”Devilish~” Lumikki hummed as the dark that sat around them peeled from the surfaces to coil around the pair. The brightest light came from Lumikki’s blazing eyes, while her form shifted within the cover of her imposed darkness. The alley that they veered now like a personal realm encompassing only the two.
”Who are ye to ask such a thing? Clearly ye aren’t like the clergy in this city….but then….how would ye know?” Lumikki stood before him with eyes as bright as stars, but that was all that could be seen still.
"Get lost in the gaze"

Dominic, Deacon of Light He held his position as the corvids continued to fly about him, but worry began to creep as silence was the initial reply. Could she be contemplating whether to answer? He would have spoken up if it wasn't for that she finally spoke, but it wasn't the tone he was hoping for. There was irritation there, she clearly didn't find him in a positive light... no, it was because who he represents and she made that clear in her reply, the clergy of Illumin she had no favor for. Dominic had wondered this, finding it plausible that some spirits outside the faith would detest them as the people of other faiths had been harmed in some form, some way, by the hands of zealots such as the crusaders who have done the worse. The hate, anger and resentment that was hinted by the witches and spiritist in Stella against the church was a concern of Dominic when he began researching the Nahuatl faith, but he had never confirmed this because whenever he walked about, no one dared to speak their concern towards a man of the cloth... but here, he was feeling the resentment clearly. As the word "Devlish~" dripped, his eyes darted to the eyes of one raven; he was sure the spirit was her. The deacon couldn't look away, something about her eyes locked him in place as the shadows about them coiled and moved as if he was sinking into the abyss. Fear began to settle in, a chill ran up his spine, unsure if it was due to the encroaching cold or the fear that was welling up inside him. Thoughts ran into his mind, what was she? A malicious spirit that might seek revenge against the Illumin faith? A sorceress who bleeds venom? Or.... a.... demon? He wanted to answer her, introduce himself as a follower of Illumin, but he hesitated, no, she was already aware what he was, he dare not give his rank, for what would she care. His breathing was becoming a bit difficult as he tried to calm himself, his frozen breath becoming visible, "I'm Dominic Luzero, I've traveled from Magnolia to investigate the disappearance of civilians here in Ochidia" He might made a mistake by giving his name, but it was already too late. From what his grandmother had mentioned, spirits can range from from different personalities, and tricksters were ones that many had to be wary of. What the raven spirit had mentioned got to him, though he wasn't sure what she meant, that he was not like the other clergy of the city, maybe there was something off about Brother Mathis and his parish, or maybe... she sensed his faith wasn't fully aligned with the Dogma of Illumin. The deacon gave his answer and waited, hoping he hadn't said the wrong thing or insulted her. He was in her clutches now, the shadows were all around him and he couldn't look away from her bright eyes seeming to be hypnotic. He prayed he wouldn't be devoured, that he didn't encounter something that would tear his soul away. He tried his best to hold his composure, forcing his legs to remain standing as the cold was creeping along his body. 546 | 1,230 |
