It was perhaps fortunate that there was nobody else around currently, for else surely someone would have raised an alarm and called her a monster. Instead she only found the cloaked scientist murmuring something, it gave the young Mindflayer an idea. She raised a hand, several tendrils unraveling around her wrist as they latched around the man's head. The man screamed in protest, a scream that was soon muffled as she gently trailed a hand along his cheek while one of her tendrils pressed into his ear.

It was an odd sensation: to explore his mind, feast on his thoughts and emotions as she felt his knowledge become hers. She could see vivid images of the man observing her fight with Kishin from amidst the shadows, of how he had arranged it all for her to be sacrificed as part of an experiment. In the end it seemed his reason for committing such a decision, for by now she could no longer truly call it a sin was because his late lover had been sacrificed to the Fractured sky years ago and he hoped that it would allow her to return through the breach formed in the moment, a futile effort.

As she finally let go of the man his body merely collapsed onto the ground with a heavy thud, not a semblance of a consciousness left, understandable since she had devoured his very mind.

"Esperia!" A voice called out to her, leading the Mindflayer to turn toward the source with a look of bewilderment in her eyes. The fallen Seraphim came descending from the sky, her gaze settled onto the Voidling as she asked the Seraphim through a projection of vivid images and feelings of curiosity: "How did you know it was me?"

The Seraphim went quiet for a moment, averting her gaze as she muttered softly. "I'm not sure... It was just a feeling, my body screamed the thought in some manner." Esperia nodded her head, a gentle smile lingering on her lips as she turned back toward the unconscious man and inquired mentally: Why are you here? to which the Seraphim replied with a sheepish smile. "You did order me to keep an eye on the naked half-elf, Maple was her name, right?"

Wait... Was Maple here, on Talaz Lagaar? Seeing the confusion on her expression the Seraphim nodded her head firmly. "When you disappeared she insisted I would take her to you, I followed the presence of your Obscura but it disappeared around here..."

So that was the reason... She turned her gaze skywards as the Seraphim followed the motion. "I was sacrificed." the message made the Seraphim's eyes widen in disbelief, and horror even as she continued. "Don't look at me so, a smile better suits an angel~ The people responsible for this will pay in due time."

She remained to gaze at the Fractured Sky as she continued. "Beyond that sky is another realm, a realm of unimaginable power and beings that defy all logic. Among them is one who saved me, although by then I had turned already..."

Into this 'monster' she mentally thought...

Esperia smiled apologetically as she lowered her gaze at the Seraphim and gestured toward the path leading back to the town. "Can you get me a cloak Aseria? I believe it would be a bad idea for me to return in this form."

It didn't take long for the Seraphim to return, a hooded cloak being given to her that helped Esperia conceal her features as she asked with the help of her telepathy once more:

"Why did you decide to stay? I am no longer a Demon Queen." The question made Aseria pause, a sheepish grin on her lips. "To me, you're still the Queen of Debauchery~ The feelings you made me experience that fateful day were so strong it overrode any logic in my mind. It is addicting, it makes me want to continue experiencing such things."

Esperia paused for a moment, wondering if that had been the power of her Obscura. "I guess you do deserve a reward Aseria~" The words brought a blush to the Seraphim's cheeks as she fidgetted lightly, not entirely certain what to expect as the Mindflayer moved closer...

It was later that evening when the Seraphim returned to Talaz Lagaar alongside her cloaked companion. It seemed that Maple had been staying at a tavern in the harbor while searching for some news about her whereabouts, it was a good place as any for her to go to. Perhaps she could figure out a proper idea of how to explain this situation to Maple without harming that innocent naive nature of the woman.

From what she had been told it seemed the plague was still terrorizing the people of Talaz Lagaar, and while several were trying to find a solution by usage of the Fractured Sky, the results were not exactly what they had anticipated either, leaving one to wonder what the sky truly was. If only they had known it was in fact a gateway into the void...

How would they have even reacted to such a startling revelation?

The Mindflayer and her companion arrived at the tavern, and while Esperia let Aseria do the talking Esperia prodded with her Psionic powers into the surrounding area, finally sensing Maple's presence. The Mindflayer gently moved along the staircase, following Aseria to the room Maple had been using and Esperia then excused her, quietly entering the room as she stepped inside. Of course the motion caused Maple to stir from her slumber, seeing the Voidling as Esperia projected her voice into the young half-elf's mind to ease her concerns. "It's me Maple~"

She gently sneaked closer, allowing herself to plop beside the bed as she pulled Maple into her bust, silently thanking the void for allowing her to return to Maple. Indeed, even if she was enraged at the people who had sacrificed her, she could only feel joy and gratitude at the fact she was able to return to Maple.

Meanwhile elsewhere...

"What do you mean, the sky tore open?!" A scientist shouted in anger as the attendant nodded his head nervously. "It is as I said sir, the Fractured Sky tore open and a b.b.b.being descended from the sky." The man shook his head firmly. "And why didn't you bring it here?!" The attendant gulped nervously in response. "S-she devoured one of the scientists that was around sir. T-tentacles rose from her hands around his head and then he fell onto the ground like a ragged doll. I tried to check later but it was as if he had become a vegetable, he was there, but not reacting to anything!

The scientist frowned visibly, looking outside the window toward the sky. "Could the rumors be true? About the true nature of the Fractured Sky? Could another disaster be upon us?"

The man frowned, not sure what to think about the report.

At the same time back in the harbor of Talaz Lagaar the Mindflayer had been making herself comfortable, sharing the bed with the half elf who insisted on sleeping naked, not that it was something she felt inclined to protest to. However, as these thoughts were drifting through her mind Esperia recalled the feelings 'it' had projected to her when she declared her desire to return to Earthland. Sadness, concern, loneliness. How long had it been within the void? Would she be able to free it? If so, what would she need to do in order to tear open the Fractured Sky and let it out? But even then such thoughts were oddly difficult to focus on when Maple continued to cuddle up to her, making the tentacles of the Mindflayer squirm lightly as she attempted her utmost to remain pure in thoughts. Kinda hard when a busty lady was cuddling up against her...

And even more difficult when she could see Aseria peering from the shadows with a look that seemed like she was pleading to join the cuddling. What in the world had she gotten herself into?

Still, for now she could find her anger and hatred being pacified by the kindness that she was surrounded by. It didn't mean she had forgiven or forgotten the scientists of Talaz Lagaar for what they had done to her, but for now she wouldn't pursue the desire for revenge. Not that she could to begin with. Her powers had severely weakened upon her return anyway. So for now she would need to lay low and spend time recovering the strength that she had lost by being reborn within the void.

Closing her eyes she allowed her mind to relax, even if for just a moment as she thought back about everything that had led her here. It had truly been a turbulent journey to say the least, but now she felt like she had at least found her own path to walk upon.
