Holly
Holly took in a deep breath, holding it in for three seconds before exhaling slowly. The air in the mountains was untouched by man and high away from the ground making it light, crisp, and refreshing. All alone, away from any people, structures, or noises, Holly could think clearly. Or as clear as anyone could think while being alone many miles from civilization up on top of a rocky mountain with a flat enough surface to sit on. She continued to breathe deep in her mind she counted backward from ten to nine, to eight, to seven, to six, to five, to four, to three, to two, and then finally to one. Once hitting one her mind went blank and all the thoughts she had faded away like a cloud being blown in the breeze. She was at peace and all she had was herself and time. Lots of time.

Holly
Sitting atop the windy mountain where the air was thin and crisp, Holly's eyes had been closed for the better part of an hour. If anyone were to stumble upon her they might of thought the girl sleep or worse dead. Luckily she was none of those things, she was simply meditating. It was that time to empty her mind, clear her conscious, and become one with the universe or as close as she could get to it while sitting on top of a mountain alone. Luckily she didn't come unprepared as Holly was smart enough to pack quite a bit of food, some reading material, a bow, and a nice first aid kit. If she was gonna be here, along on a mountain, with no one else around, she was going to come prepared. With a clear mind being prepared was easy as it could be and doing this monthly ritual of silent and isolated training and contemplation was good for her in every way.

Once the clarity of her mind was achieved, which was no small feat, Holly rose from the ground and did a little bit of stretching to get her muscles loose. Sitting with one's legs crossed over one another for an hour could make the joints tight and that's exactly what happened. Standing up she reached her hands to the skies as hard as she could. A popping sound of joints rippled throughout her arms and a most satisfying sound it was, almost like the popping sound a jar makes when it finally gives after all the work one would put into getting it open. Brining her hands together Holly began to lean backwards until she heard several more popping sounds. It was like music to her ears as her back gave way to all the stress it had been under. Her upper half finally able to relax itself, feeling as if she had finally gotten a weight off of it.

With her upper half all nice and stretched she began to twist her upper half at the wait, pulling her right arm all the way to the left. Once more a few popping sounds and she repeated the process but this time her left arm was pulled toward the right. The stretching felt good like having tea on a cold day. Holly was determined to stretch every part of her body that she possibly could within reason and without hurting herself. With all the stretching she did to her upper half she shook around just her upper body for a moment before lowering her body low to the ground with bent knees. Once she was as low as she could go, she slowly moved upwards, making sure to keep her legs and knees together and her hands above her head, using only her legs to move her body up. As with her arms, back, and shoulders a popping sound came from her legs as she stretched them up from her bent position.

Holly smiled to herself as she got to her full height, she was feeling good as she could as she lowered her body once more with bent knees. This time she didn't rise from the ground, instead she pushed out her left leg as far as it could go while keeping it on the ground and made sure her right leg stayed in its bent position. As she stretched her leg this way more popping sounds came from her, and she could feel the relief every time it did. Clearly Holly had been neglecting her stretches but with all the new work she had to do in order to climb the ranks in the Rune Knights, there were just somethings she had to put off, and stretching was unfortunately one of them. Of course, a good stretch wouldn't be a good stretch if she didn't do the same stretch on the other side, in order to make sure everything is equal.

The day was progressing smoothly. At this point in time the sun was at its highest point. Though Holly was higher up in the mountains and it was colder than say if she were on the ground, the sun helped a lot with keeping her warm, as well as all the moving she was doing. With her body still low to the ground she moved all the weight to the left leg moving it from it's stretched out position to a bent one while allowing the right leg to stretch as far as it could possibly go. In doing this she heard those all the familiar pops that came with the joints releasing from whatever sockets they were in, though not so much that it was actually removing itself from the socket, it was like oiling a squeaky door really. Bouncing a little and alternating her position between both of her legs for around ten minutes, Holly was satisfied and stood up to her full height and starting position once again.

With all that stretching, and meditation Holly realized that she needed to eat and lunch time was here. Smiling she raised her face to the sun to get a few more warm rays. Soaking her pale skin in the light she stood there for a few moments before looking towards her bag. Sitting the bulky sack upright she pulled out a blanket and laid it out using her bag to hold one corner down and grabbing three good sized rocks to hold the other three corners down so that the wind wouldn't flip it all round. Looking in the bag Holly carefully pulled out two thermal canisters, and four lunch boxes. One of the thermal canisters was filled with miso soup and the other was filled with chicken noodle soup. In one lunch box there was nothing but rice, in another was roasted vegetables, in the third was an assorment of meats, and in the last one was a fruit salad.

It was a feast fit for a king, or maybe a knight, anyone really and Holly was going to enjoy it all. Some might think that this was too much food for someone as small as Holly, but she had worked up an appetite. Having climbed up the mountain even before the sun rose was a task all on its own. Her body was truly sore after all that climbing, then meditation, and then stretching, all that on an empty stomach. Holly one hundred percent deserved this meal. Grabbing the carrot soup, she poured some over the rice and took a few bites before digging into the meat and roasted vegetables. The food was well seasoned and still nice and hot, curtesy of the special mana containers they were held in that kept everything well-regulated as far as temperature goes and prevents it all from spilling out. Pouring some of the chicken noodle soup onto the rice and taking her fill, Holly would enjoy the rest of her lunch.

The meal was great, and it allowed her a few more moments of thinking. Soon the anniversary of her father's death, not something she wanted to think about but something she had to think about. Her mother was always a mess during these times, and it was up to her and her older siblings to put together the memorial. Each year the list of people who came got smaller and smaller so this year would be the last so that he can rest in peace. Every memorial was special but this one would be simple and probably only for the family, something for her mother to also finally find some sort of peace. Taking in a deep breath and letting the food settle for a bit before getting up and packing up and cleaning the area, all Holly could think about now was how good being away from the world was. She still had one more thing to do though as she picked up her bag and bow.

Having already exercised, meditated, and eaten Holly felt a surge of energy she had never experienced before. Being up here alone in the mountains and away from the distractions of the world gave her a new outlook on life in general. She felt so much more open and willing to accept things and eager to learn. Pulling the strings back on her practice bow, she aimed it towards a bird that had been circling above her for a while. She was patient and careful, pushing a small bit of mana into the bow she was able to form an arrow. Once the arrow was formed in all its blue mana glory, she let it fly straight and true into the bird. The shot was perfect, and she felt the need to practice on a few more moving targets. Looking for more birds she shot them down and collected each one that fell. When she hit five birds in total, she collected them and plan to sell them to the market, because waste was never good. The experience here today made Holly realize that perhaps alone she could do so much more.
