She had at first anticipated that she was going to spend some time at the docks, nothing outside of the usual really. In reality, it was far more of a common thing that Vyra spend her time there. It made her feel more welcome, perhaps to some degree harkening back to a time when she could reflect and imagine herself just existing within the harbors of Bosco, or other parts of Fiore, the location being secondary to the actual feeling that came with being there. That was the main thing, what she most appreciated, the fact that despite her situation now, despite her situation in the past, the docks did not seem to pay much heed towards her, nor her upbringing. Those factors were irrelevant to the world that she was in now, and as she struggled to understand and figure out the life that came with being in Blue Pegasus, it was one by which the docks paid no heed towards.

In a manner of speaking, it was actually to her benefit that the docks did not much pay significant heed to where she had come from. Especially with her trying to become more acclimated to the life of someone in Blue Pegasus, the nature of the guild and their reputation meant that the jobs listed within the docks, though less frequent in demand and quantity than that of the generally available jobs offered to mages, it did mean that there were far more to them than what would otherwise be available. That also extended to someone like Vyra, who did not have the benefit of Blue Pegasus’s supply of jobs, and had frequented the docks enough time to build the trust of them, albeit one that was loosely established. The combination of the two led to the ideal thing, a job that Vyra could take that was also one in which they felt comfortable in giving to her.

The job was actually something that really did not feel like it was an actual job, but rather a byproduct of what she had been seeing over the past several weeks, a shifting in the political realm within the Hargeon docks, a changing of the guard, not just figurative but also literally. Incidents at the dock had forced a situation where the politicians of Hargeon had forced a change in the guards, but it had proven to be highly combative with the resident businesses for quite a while now. Though she had seen it happen in part of a more coordinated effort to interfere with this apparent power struggle, the contract that she was given was one that she was not expecting, but felt qualified to handle; the intentional sabotage of the guards’ affairs. She had seen more than enough of it to make her confident that she could pull it off, and it wasn’t hard to actually cause problems for the guards that were on patrol at the time. A brief back and forth with the guard, an accusation of racism and some general angry feelings that could as easily been encapsulated with the sentiment of the people at the time, and it was not hard for her to effectively sell the distraction that was required for the job.
