Khalfani †

So this was limbo. Khalfani wouldn't really be able to explain it if anybody had asked them, but this place felt...sad. Depressing really. Shadowy figures moped aimlessly all around them, moaning, crying and ultimately looking defeated. The Desiertan looked around before moving with haste, absorbing what they could about the material conditions of their environment. Looking down at their hands, it was obvious that they didn't blend in. They stuck out like a sore thumb on a baby's hand. It was hard for Khal to even step forward, fearing that any minor disruption would cause the balance here to shift dramatically. Many tales had been written about a place that resembled this one. While Khalfani had known it to be Limbo, others likely referred to this realm as hell. Some called it the finding. Spirits who had died with regrets or with depression ended up here. The teen frowned. All they could hope was that one day they would never....EVER end up here.

Limbo wasn't a place for someone like Khalfani. They took a few steps forward but halted any time they heard something moving too close to them. The shadowy figures seemed to be in their own world, but one could never be too sure. Things here were lonely, sad, and just straight up depressing. Countless souls, lost. It was a wake up call now that they thought about it. With each step they took, nothing changed. The environment remained the same but they felt like something was trying to force them out. There was an obvious strain on their soul. There was no way they were turning back now though. The vampire had come too far and they knew it. Still, this place just reeked of danger. As the Desiertan continued forward, they weight that felt like it was pushing against them started to lift. It should have felt like a good sign, but something told them that it wasn't. As long as nothing came out of nowhere to attack them they would be okay.

As if things couldn't become more off-putting, a voice of some sort whispered into the vampires ear. "You'll never be free." As if there was someone standing directly next to the teenager. Quickly Khalfani turned around, swinging the brunt of their fist towards where the persons head would have been...if they were actually there. When they turned around there was nobody there. Not a single soul beside them. "What the hell?" they whispered to themselves. Suddenly, from the other side of them, another voice whispered in their ear. This one was the voice of what may have been a woman. "You are not meant to rule, slave!" Again Khalfani spun around with their back facing the direction they had been walking in. "Who's there?" they said in as low of a tone as they could. They still didn't know if the shadowy figures had seen them, and it was best if they didn't find out. "Show yourself." Why now? This wasn't the time for the spirits of the masters that they killed to come haunt them. If they were here, than that could only mean they wanted to do to them what Khalfani did to them...and that would not be a pretty sight. Were they here in Limbo?

The vampire stood bravely...afraid, but brave indeed in the face of a potential enemy. Yet, there was nobody truly there. The Eternal nightmare mage looked around frantically, still not understanding what was happening. The shadowy spirits went about their business. Everything seemed to be the same as when they got here, so this place had to be playing tricks on them. Meanwhile, a black snake slithered towards the young Savannan mage, silent as it moved it slid through "trees" and around the shadowy figures of limbo. Khalfani finally settled down and sighed in relief. It felt like they hadn't moved a single step from where they started. "Hello, Khalfani." a smooth silk like voice said. The tone of the snake held was gentle, yet it was also not warm. Khal turned around with haste, assuming that they would have to fight in this ghostly realm before realizing that their enemy was far too small. Still they were on guard with their hands up and ready should something should happen.

"Are you here to claim my soul?" The teenager let out coldly. Their eyes laid steadily on the creature before them, analyzing its small frame. Could it shape shift? Was it insanely fast? Did it perhaps control this realm? Astral projection was always risky because your soul could be swayed and manipulated easily by stronger entities, so could this little being be the being that forced them into Limbo? Khal's eyes narrowed as they kept their head snapped on tight. In battle they were good at making sure they didn't make any rash decisions without knowing their opponent first. The Snake hissed and laughed, amused at the child's maturity. "You are exactly what they said you'd be. Clueless. No, Khalfani. I am not here to claim your soul. I am but a gatekeeper here to make sure that you are safely delivered to my superior."" Delivered? So then I'm a product? they asked themselves.

"I myself wouldn't use the word "product", but yes, I suppose you could say that."

The snake hissed. Khal's eyes widened. They were completely taken aback when they noticed that this creature could hear their thoughts. If this snake was truly delivering them to someone else then they themselves wouldn't dare harm them, right? Besides, something in the vampire told them that they had met this creature before. In a dream perhaps? Already the Morningstar had so many questions. Alas, as they say, curiosity killed the cat. If this person that they were being delivered to was a threat then they would just have to deal with it when it came. Khalfani remained quiet, slowly dropping their arms. "Good. Hurry now, we haven't any time to waste, my lord." The Desiertan raised an eyebrow and opened their mouth to speak, but before they could get the words out they heard a moan from behind them. Without hesitation they turned around only to see a large shadowy figure raising its arms as if they were going to grab them. While they were caught off guard, they still had time to react. The vampire jumped back with a scoff, readying themselves to fight the spirit being. "I advise you not to engage. One touch and you-" The snake began. The creature couldn't finish his sentence because Khalfani had already roundhoused the creature, causing it to dissipate. Suddenly though, the other spirit entities stopped what they were doing.

For a moment there was silence. Neither the snake nor Khalfani moved. The mage looked around as the sprits began to shift their entire body's to face them. Shit. They made them aware of their existence. It was quickly understood that all of them were somehow connected and so now Khal would have to deal with them. There must have been a couple hundred in their line of vision but that probably wasn't all. It couldn't have been. Thousands...no...millions of souls ended up in Limbo. Could they all have been aware of the vampires existence? The teenager thought quickly about what to do. Fighting here and now meant that they'd have to deal with the significant amount of air pressure, and they weren't entirely equipped for that. Khalfani grunted. Suddenly the ghost-like entities began making their way towards the duo, more so focused on them. The snake remained quiet, waiting to see what Khalfani would do. Quickly the desiertan turned around with a frown. "Take me to your superior." Khalfani ordered. The small black serpent had called them Lord before, which meant Khal was in a position to give direct orders. The snake turned around and began slithering through the forest at great speeds while Khalfani followed behind. The creatures of Limbo followed closely behind damn near on their ass. Dammit, they thought. Th snake slithered around trees as Khal leaped through them. "Our destination is the edge of the forest. We'll be there shortly, hang tight.

Khalfani grew agitated. They didn't like how close the limbo spirits were, so, they closed their eyes and a white aura encompassed their body. Their strength had increased immensely, so much so that the release of aura caused a wave of wind to be released. With a scoff the young Morningstar stopped to turn their body, swinging their arm as they turned to slam it into the head of the limbo spirit. It vanished into thin air like nothing. Three other spirits surged forward which were dealt with rather easily. Khalfani slammed their fists into where their faces would have been, yet that was not enough. More of the spirits ran towards the duo. Frustrating, that's what it was. The snake hissed loudly as if telling Khalfani to move it along. In a few moments the two of them emerged from the forest to gaze upon an open white space of nothingness covered in what seemed to be the fog that covered the Limbo forest. The Vampire turned around only to see the spirits halt at the edge. It was like they could go no further. The snake opened it's mouth widely, summoning a jet black smoke-like substance that swirled, turning into a portal that led to more...nothingness. "You've made it." the snake said before hopping in.
