Another day, another mission. It seemed the Wood Elves had taken to Seika after his hard fought defense of the previous caravan. With the victory came rest and recuperation. As such it had been several days since his last caravan run. His arm and side had only healed the day before, the pain from having his shoulder popped back into place had also waned since the procedure had been done upon arriving at the camp he was staying at. He was extremely grateful to the hospitality shown his way, even going so far as to crack a smile and utter more than a word or two to those who had gone through the ordeal with him and survived. The camaraderie was palpable, and definitely aided in morale. The group he had worked with had also been given several days off to rest and recover from their ordeal. That had been almost four days ago and now all of them stood around yet another caravan. Newer, fresher faces also joined them, but the ragtag survivors had made sure that those of them who were still fit to make the run would all be together to work together again.

Checking over his equipment for the fifth time in thirty minutes, he nodded and accepted the fact that he was ready to go. Hopping onto the caravan along with the others, he idly wondered just how this one would go to shit. He had been getting rather disturbing news about the other caravan runs and the trouble that they had run into. Hell some of them never made it there or back if some reports were right. The war was starting to get nasty, he only hoped that those he had bled along would live long enough to see the end of it all.

Leaving the confines of the brushwork and tree line, the caravan fell into a sort of busy silence that could only come from one such as it. Many moving parts were necessary to keep the whole thing moving smoothly, even through contested lands such as the one they were swiftly riding through. He had been tasked with securing the various perishable goods that were needed by those fighting in and around the front lines. Alongside those were some additional supplies for the various groups that were working beyond the frontlines. The packages were labeled by use as either perishable goods or food, medical supplies, or non perishable goods aka paper and other note keeping supplies. The weapons and armor were kept farther up the caravan where those who were more versed in their usage would be able to access them easily if they were ambushed again. Thankfully Seika didn’t need said weapons to fight, preferring the use of his own two hands and various pyrokinetic abilities and spells. He was well versed in other weapons of course, but their usage didn’t particularly appeal to him, whether it was the abundance of blood, or just the aversion to possibly cutting himself, he couldn’t tell.

Reclining back on a crate of vegetables, he let out an exhale of boredom as he idly played with a small flame he had conjured up to his hand. The small flare bounced slowly over his fingers, the sounds of horses trotting away at the dry sandstone road lulling him into an almost sleep. It was only the rustling sound of movement and a darting figure that even alerted him enough to the fact they were being watched. Moving quickly, he would scramble to alert those in his section of what he saw. It looked like he was going to see some more action soon enough.

The fighting began almost immediately. Arrowheads with small explosives attached near the tip struck near the front and the sides of the caravan before exploding with an unreasonable amount of force. Several carriages and warriors were flung across the roadway away from the explosions as enemy mages and adventurers appeared from behind the smokescreen. The banner of the nation of Stella was valiantly flown overhead as the sounds of battle began to echo throughout the valley. The sounds of steel and magic circles cut through everything else as fighters on both sides screamed their own various warcries.

Pulling himself from the wreckage, Seika stared blearily in the distance as the fights stretched from the front of the caravan to the rear with most of the fighting being placed near the front. The explosives had been a new addition, definitely something that the rebels had learned from their last failed attack. A small look over revealed little to no real injuries aside from his bleeding skull, a product of being knocked into a crate of apples. He was going to be nursing a headache, possibly a concussion later, but for now he was good enough to jump into the battle.

Thrusting out his right hand behind himself, he flung himself into battle with the erection of a magic seal behind himself. The gout of flames propelling him forward straight into the body of one of the rebels sending them flying back into the forest from which they came. The fighting momentarily stalled for a second as both sides recognized the appearance of the newcomer, his rather bland if ragged appearance was something only half of the fighters recognized as the fighting resumed post haste. Gritting through it all, he joined the Wood Elves in driving back the rebels, the battle peaking as a tall pillar of water and earth washed a good deal of the rebels back towards the forestry. The screams and shouts of surprise from the rebels was like sweet music to the fighters as they finally relaxed after an hour of hard fighting, the shipment once again saved.
