An oft-land bird that seldom are seen taking flight, Sichuowls are considered to some to be avian in only the presence of their wings, at times being mistaken for large fans. Such is the Sichuowl quite often being mistaken for a small child in outfit, their head structures possessing an overwhelming resemblance to traditional Biàn Liǎn actor, lending one to believe the look may have been inspired by the Sichuowls. With a plume similar to that of their wings that extends down beyond their neck region that give the impression of an impressive collar and almost creating a sort of "mask" upon their upper body, Sichuowls are looked upon more as a thing of beauty than a living creature. Description: Biàn Liǎn ('Face-Changing') is an ancient Sinese dramatic art that is part of the more general Sichuan opera. Performers wear brightly colored costumes and move to quick, dramatic music. They also wear vividly colored masks, typically depicting well-known characters from the opera, which they change from one face to another almost instantaneously with the swipe of a fan, a movement of the head, or wave of the hand.
