This time, the bag was far lighter than the one she had to carry last time, though that did make more sense. The crew upon the Flying Knave was far fewer in numbers than the others she had fought before. There didn't need to be as much treasure to go around. They simply only stole what was necessary to make a decent profit, which she supposed was somewhat respectable. They could have done a lot worse, but in the end, the fact of the matter was they still were criminals. Now, their fate was in the hands of the local law enforcement.

A familiar set of paws drifted down onto the elf's shoulder. Grinning, Atani turned her head to look at the friendly lemur and was surprised to see it was holding a gem in its tiny hands.

"What do you have there?" she chuckled, trying to take the jewel from the small creature. It let go immediately and blinked, seemingly surprised Atani would have even thought to do that. It then tried to take the gem back. "Oh, so you like shiny things, do you little jewel thief? Hmm... Jewel thief." Atani pondered on that for a moment. It reminded her of a word in the elven tongue.

"I suppose you need a name. What about Zimra, do you like that?" She took gnawing on the gem as a yes. "Alright then, I guess I'll call you Zimra. How about we go to my home for now."

Atani was unsure if she would officially keep the winged lemur now known as Zimra. She didn't even know how to care for one. But at the same time, she couldn't just let it roam freely in Hargeon. Besides, making that happen would be impossible as it was now with Zimra being so attached to her.

"So... Zimra," Atani began. She decided that if she was going to be keeping him for the moment, it was best to speak to him in her native Val'Elvarin. "We're almost to your new home for the time being. We just passed the guild hall, what do you think?" The winged lemur scuttled to the top of her head and sat down. His head cocked to the side as he looked for what Atani wanted him to see. "There," she reiterated, pointing to the building to their left. It didn't seem to interest Zimra much, but then again, why would it? To an animal, it was just another place with no significance as of yet. He would have to visit it for himself to know what the place was really like.

The two had passed the guild hall and proceeded to Atani's house. It was not too far from the building, which was convenient for a Blue Pegasus mage such as herself.

"And..." The elf paused as she turned the knob on her front door. "... This is where you'll be staying with me for the time being."

She came inside and shut the door. Seeing as he was in a safe, enclosed space, Zimra finally detached himself from Atani's shoulder and began to glide around the room. He found the fruit bowl upon her table and began to eat an apple from it. A heavy sigh escaped the girl's lips. She had forgotten she left those out, but there was little she could do about it now. Besides, the lemur was still clearly famished. She would let it eat all it wanted to get some more skin on those bones. She had no idea what he was doing aboard that pirate ship so poorly taken care of, but at least now he was safe.

While Zimra was gorging down the fruit, she drew a small bath for him as his fur had gotten quite dirty. Once he had eaten his fill, she went back over and held out her arm as a gesture for the lemur to climb on. He did so without hesitation, almost as if he had been trained to do so before, though it may just have been instinct. Her outstretched arm was similar in some respects to a tree branch she supposed, which is what an animal like Zimra would like to perch upon in their natural habitat. Now, to hope that lemurs liked the water more than cats. She knew that certain breeds did indeed like the water, though she couldn't say if that was true for winged lemurs or not. Well, there was only one way to find out.

Atani set Zimra down on the counter beside the sink-- it was large enough to adequately bathe the lemur, yet small enough that it would not be overwhelmed by the vast amount of water that would otherwise be in her bathtub. "Go on, try it." To show what she meant, Atani dipped her own hand into the warm water. Not too hot, not too cold. "See?"

The curious lemur dipped its hand in the water. It brought it out, dipped it in again, and then without warning, jumped into the shallow basin. Water was sent flying across the walls. Atani brought up a small shield of water just in time to prevent herself from being splashed. The elf couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"Well, it's a good thing we picked each other, huh?" She smiled at the creature as it played in the sink water. What were the odds that a water mage like her would pick up a pet on accident who was so comfortable with the element?

Atani finally got Zimra to hold still and scrubbed him down with a gentle soap. She rinsed him off and towel dried him as best she could, though the rest of the drying would have to be done by air. Not that it would be an issue; it was nighttime now. There was no chance she would be leaving in the middle of the night to deal with pirates at this hour. In fact, having dealt with two groups in one day, she was tired and needed some rest. Perhaps at a later time... For now, she had to get some shuteye.

Before heading off to bed, Atani prepared a resting spot for Zimra-- a folded towel placed on one side of the bed. She had a feeling that if he was already this attached to her, he would not want to stray far. But at the same time, of course, she didn't want her bed to get lemur hairs all over it. So, this would have to suffice as a compromise.

Atani took the time to braid her hair at the side of her bed, long blonde strands weaving through one another to keep themselves void of knots while she slept. Zimra mimicked her behavior by petting his ears down against his back. The elf chuckled as she secured her braid with a hair tie and slid under the covers. She tapped the spot on the towel where he was supposed to sleep. He hopped on and circled around several times before finally settling in a comfortable position. Atani rolled over to turn out the lamp on her bedside table. When she turned back to face the lemur, his tired mint green eyes were falling heavy with fatigue. It was a long day for such a little guy.

"Losto mae, Zimra."

"What... ?"

A soft furry head was rubbing against her own. Atani opened one emerald eye and smiled at the creature in front of her.

"Aur vaer." She raised a hand and scratched Zimra behind the ear. It made quiet chirping sounds of delight. With her other limb, Atani propped herself up on her forearm and raised a hand to cover a yawn. "Well, as much as I'd love to spend the day with you, I have work little one."

She needed to make up for lost time during the Easter festivals. Taking down two pesky bands of pirates in a single day was a good start-- great, in fact, considering how she handled them before-- but she couldn't stop there. Not until either all the pirates had been properly taken care of, or until another town called her name.

Throughout Atani's morning routine, Zimra once more refused to leave her side. When it was time for her to depart, he still tried to exit the door with her. There came a point where she forced him to stay inside, shutting the door out, but the scratching on the door and whining stole her heart. She couldn't leave him alone. Not like this.

"Fine," she grumbled, opening the door. The flying lemur outstretched its arms and glided to her shoulder. "But don't get into any trouble, okay?"

Now, with that settled, the two started heading towards the request board to see what their day would hold. Just as Atani had hoped, there was yet again a need for the disposal of some sea scoundrels. The reward was oddly handsome for what seemed to be yet another small group, but Atani would take it. Perhaps whoever was stolen from was simply rather wealthy for a sailor. Uncommon, but it happened she supposed.

"Let's see what we've got here, Zimra."

Atani held the paper she had taken down from the request board in such a way that both she and the lemur would be able to read it, though she knew very well the chances of him actually being able to read Fiorian writing (or any form of writing for that matter) were next to none. Still, it was a kind gesture. She liked to think it made him feel included... Even if he did get distracted by a bug flying overhead and raced off to capture it. And then promptly eat it. Atani shook her head and called for Zimra to join back with her. She couldn't tell if he was responding to his name or her voice yet, but either way it was good he was able to respond so well. It made her feel slightly better about taking him on this quest.

There were a few more incidents with Zimra becoming distracted by something buzzing or glittering, but overall it was not too much of a hassle. Before long, they had made it down to the beach where such distractions were few and far between. The spot she had chosen to scout the boat before her raid was perfect in that regard. It did not take her long to figure out how she wanted to approach these guys. There were a total of five aboard. Five against one was frankly not in her favor, but she'd find a way to manage. After all, she had brought along her bow to make up for any shortcomings of her magic.

She started her attack just like how she usually did. She began to run atop the water via her magic and drew back her bow to take down at least one of the men. She let her arrow fly and it hit her target.

Another arrow and another man's leg was out of commission. This time, she had gotten two shots in before reaching the boat-- She was getting back into the swing of things already.

With one swift motion, the elf leapt onto the boat and slung her bow on her back. It had no place in close quarters like now. Even though she had taken out two of the men, there were still three more she had to take care of. They had surrounded her. One in front, another on her left, and the last on her right. Seeing as the one on the right was not armed with any visible weapons, she lunged for that one first. She was able to knock him out with ease, but had to act quick as the other came at her with a dagger. She was only narrowly able to dodge its slash.

"Hey, that lemur's flying off with one of our things!"

Atani only caught a glimpse of whatever was in Zimra's grabby hands as it glinted in the sunlight, but she didn't dare waste any more time. She saw her opening. She shoved the pirate in front of her who promptly collapsed into a heap of crates and became dazed. Only one to go.

The remaining pirate tore his gaze away from Zimra at the sound of the crates crashing, but he was a moment too late. Atani had the upper hand and knocked him out with a blow to the head. Out of danger, the lemur landed gently upon the boat's steering wheel and began to fidget with what appeared to be a gold ring. "All that fuss over that?" Atani chuckled. Her grin faltered, however, when Zimra was spooked by something. "What is it, Zim-"

A sharp pain was felt in the girl's shoulder.

She stumbled forward as the dagger was ripped out of her skin from behind. She whipped around just in time to dodge yet another one of the man's attacks.

"Damn it," she cursed. That was her dominant arm. Her left hand was less precise when it came to close combat, but it would have to do. By some miracle, she managed to disarm him and have him collapse without getting harmed yet again by his dagger. Some bruises sure, but those were far better than the stab wound Atani had yet to attend to.

It was difficult tying them up with an injured shoulder. The small movements of her digits were fine, but even the bending of her elbow could be felt radiating up to the gash that was still dripping blood, permanently staining her clothes. With the threat of the pirates out of the way, Atani found some spare material on the boat to temporarily patch her wound with. Stopping the blood flow at the very least was better than nothing.

If only she had spent some more time trying to remaster her healing spells. Atani shook her head as she took the wheel of what appeared to be yet another lacrima powered boat. She would have to fix her healing problem sooner rather than later, probably before she attempted another one of these endeavors. If it was just her, that was one thing, but now she also had Zimra to protect. She couldn't let herself get so careless with her jobs.

Within time, she was able to dock the boat and let the law enforcement know of the criminals aboard the boat. They were concerned with her injuries, but Atani brushed it aside, insisting she knew a healer at her guild that she would see later. It was a lie, but they had no way of knowing that. In the meantime, she had a bounty to return.
