Masami

喜多正美

Without the need of opening his eyes, Masami knew that he was hidden in the trunk of a vehicle. Checking his vitals and breathing by measuring comfort, Masami opened his eyes to see the evening light, and he was thankful that he was incorrect. He had realized that he was instead comfortably laying onto the backseat, rather than the trunk of the vehicle, and that he couldn't help but groan when he rolled over. Dammit; oh well, this isn't the first time, he felt headache only now, and thinking more of being taken away like this continue to bring him discomfort due to unpreparedness. Masami thought that he shouldn't get anxious about the whole situation because naturally, he should get used to being taken away like this—it's the consequence of fame. At the same time, knowing his own value, he had faith that he'll come out of this alive.

"Where are we going?" not asking specifically anyone, Masami hopes that someone responds to him without rudeness. When he tried to sit upright, the shackles that bound his two wrists together signaled Masami's incapability of moving. How nostalgic, he looks at his fingers and forces himself to smile—it was only now that he realized the blisters around his wrists, he must've been struggling while he was asleep, it doesn't look like I'll be able to get out of this. Imbuing his mana, the shackles generated a slight shock. They expected that the captive would attempt to break free so they came prepared—except, this was also expected for Masami's side. I'll just have to wait, then, having nobody respond to his blatant question, Masami attempts to achieve comfort by leaning his back against the backseat. There, he sees Magnolia City disappear from the distance. In the end, it wasn't such an exclusive deal.

Masami

喜多正美

Isn't Masami being a bit too calm for his own good? Despite feeling independent, Masami reads through Lucifer while he hasn't taken over yet. He reminded himself that Lucifer—the demon soul within him—was just a fragment of the real thing, but not the whole thing itself. Maybe, even if Lucifer hated it so, the "real thing" indeed became a degraded, demon whom failed at so many things – that would mean that the demon soul within Masami, is apparently a new being? Masami wouldn't have thought of this if he was occupied with requests—an inevitable daily life. He would've been stuck thinking of one thing and that's working; even if Masami doesn't admit it, he started to learn how to depend on his prideful demon's dominance. If anything bad happens to Masami once this vehicle stops, he would let Lucifer take him over by force—as always. Being controlled like that... was somehow making Masami feel at such ease.

Before Magnolia City disappears completely, the vehicle stops in place, the friction causing Masami to slightly stumble in place. "Get out," he was commanded, and Masami flinched when he tried to recognize the voice. The tension rising; Lucifer wanted to burst out in anger, only hurting Masami in return. "You can't switch forms now," the same voice said, grabbing Masami's collar to pull him out of the vehicle, "switching is still magic; if you don't want to get your vessel hurt, then you better keep yourself shut." And, by that, both Masami and Lucifer will have to learn how to control their temper, even if the former was already a master. Now that Masami is out of the vehicle, he takes his short seconds to let his eyes wander around the ruins before the sun has completely set. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the plains, and Magnolia City looked like a kingdom from afar. The Kardia Cathedral is the most visible in this angle and position, and to Masami, it made him feel holy.

Now, unlike Masami, Lucifer's not the type to become submissive at all, and his possessiveness towards Masami isn't getting any better. Feeling the subconscious anger, Masami understood that submitting to a person that took him away didn't land such a nice impression to Lucifer. "Follow me," when Masami followed the voice and tried to familiarize himself with the man that took him away, he felt slightly upset that the man hid his identity through a mask. Far from the ones from the Joyan theaters, the clown-like mask made Masami uncomfortable, yet he had no desire to escape at all. He must follow the man through the ruins, and Masami had no hand to hold.

"It's getting dark out here," he followed the tall, masked figure, that was turning into a silhouette. Masami removed his wooden slippers so that he may be able to walk comfortably, especially when climbing land similar to a mountain. It didn't matter if these slippers were left out here; they were going through the woods now, and the atmosphere appeared ancient and fantastical to Masami, who didn't want to ask nor know why he was brought to such a place. Then, they stopped in the middle of the circle, and Masami only realized the magic circle when he was already in the middle. "You must stay here," the man said, and walked behind the altar. Like the Rune Knight's Pendant that hid in one of Masami's pockets, each one of the altars reacted to Masami's mana, and shone one-by-one. The maniacal laugh from the man, which echoed as if he was everywhere, gave Masami's spine a little fear. "Do you not know what this means?!" and, obviously, Masami did not. "Take-over Magic... your Demon Soul, is a fragment of the most beautiful Seraphim that ever existed."

"If you abide by our laws, you may become a god even better than Illumin! Hmm, hmm... how is that? Ultimate power, and ultimate worship." It was an offer in which Masami never thought of, not even once. When he looked around to describe each altar, he looked back to the masked man and Masami's eyes glimmered in red. "A man taught me how annoying cultists could be," Masami smiled back, except he wasn't Masami. As Lucifer is unable to take his vessel over by force without hurting them, he had no choice but to half the transformation. "I remember being a demon, but not a god. You've got the wrong 'fragment,' or whatever you called it." Enough sass would make Masami turn around and leave, yet he waited for a response. Even if Lucifer does not admit it, he was becoming curious.

"It's because your memories are altered," the masked man responded, "the things you remember right now... belong to the original being—that being is gone now, yet you must...! You must, please,"—He's begging now—"your mana... is flowing through these altars. Sooner or later, you will become a god." Come to think of it, Lucifer has been feeling something else ever since they entered this magic circle.

"Get out, Masami," it's no use—they both belong to one body, "I said, get out!"

Altogether, they screamed as Lucifer forces himself out of the vessel, causing the electric shock to accumulate. Lucifer takes Masami over and brings the dead under their feet back to life. The demonic force accumulates as well, trying its' best to protect the vessel. Not only because of Lucifer, but the small portion of Nephilim blood within Masami reacts to the power of the altars. In a few seconds, will Masami truly become a god?

Masami

喜多正美

Lucifer will lose Masami, and then the lonely soul will have nobody—he'll be alone. And, if Masami loses his humanity like this, his soul's fear will inevitably come to life.

So, it's either the masked man gets killed, or Lucifer gets his vessel out of the magic circle... if it's even possible. It's most likely that if Masami does get out of the magic circle, he'll leave the demon soul behind to become a completely different being, and may end up as a curse instead. It was safer to go with the first solution, and it was the reason why Lucifer wanted to let out an aggressive response. The only thing in their mind is discarding the masked man to disable the altar—for some reason, Lucifer has memories of the exact same scenario happening in the past, and he knew that he shouldn't make the same mistake.

The same mistake? Was he even allowed to remember such a thing? As mana intertwine in violent manners, they chase each other around inside a magic circle, and Lucifer tried his best not to escape the white marbles that created it. "I'll get rid of you! It's time to go back to the coffin you once were in... two-thousand years ago!" When the masked man heard that, he was rather amused that his dear Lucillus still remembers him. However, just like the demon soul, the masked man was a vessel as well, and Lucifer knew that Masami would not like a bloody outcome, so he had to tame himself just a little. If he managed to bring the opponent to an unconscious body, then the outcome will be more shallow than death itself. If this all goes well, then Masami won't have to feel any sort of guilt in the end. "If Masami's gone, I will..." the enraged demon had started to weep.

The masked man wasn't pleased when they witnessed the demon soul being affectionate with their vessel—their prey, and their slaves. Such as the rule of the demon souls, the masked man had a demon that resembled fear and envy, a cousin of the well-known Leviathan. Lucifer wasn't able to visualize his fragmented memories in a crystal-clear vision, and it upsets him. Thus, he wasn't able to finish what he was saying, "Just disappear already!" their voices turning raspy, the Masami that subsided as they let the demon fight for them were hearing other noises, each ear receiving two completely different sounds. On the left were the music of an accordion, and unto the right was a xylophone, yet both instruments were fiercely playing with chaos.

Now, it was as if the music sped up, and then decayed to a slow beat; the battle was over, and they have defeated the enemy. Remnants of the dead bringing brought to life were left inside the magic circle, which no longer glowed in mana, just like the now-lifeless altars. Each of their limbs grew weary and relaxed, and there were only liquids of unknown substances that dripped from his fingernails. The masked man was no longer a man, but a boy, as he was no longer taken-over by the demon that dwelled in him. With curiosity flowing through them, Masami approached the masked boy and detaches the mask from them, revealing the face of a person that brought them from Hosenka to Magnolia City previously. "It's that kid that brought Aegis' book to you," said Lucifer to himself—to Masami, because "Lucillus" wanted to be at least of use in a verbal form. "He's still alive, don't worry," touching the forehead of the boy with the back of Masami's hand, he felt the warmth of a living being. With tiredness, Masami, still in take-over form, lay next to the unconscious boy, and relaxes themselves. "Must be nice... to be a completely different person for long periods of time."

Masami

喜多正美

He felt the morning sunlight kiss his cheeks when he was starting to gain consciousness. Unlike how it was earlier—a few hours ago—last night, Masami forgot where he was, and was reminded only when he finally opened his eyes to see a crying child, shaking Masami's shoulders and begging him to stay alive. Lucifer was no longer present, and Masami must have fallen asleep in tiredness. Right beside the boy was the servant that brought Masami to that establishment yesterday, which lead to Masami meeting the man, which turned out to be this boy that had the same magic. "You knew," Masami spoke to the servant in a quiet tone of voice, a raspy voice that signaled the presence of a tired being. Then, Masami's hand was held by two small ones, and was pulled back up. "I'm sorry... I cannot control this sort of magic... I'm new and—"

Masami didn't do anything, the boy cut his own speech off on his own, yet it was Masami's gaze that caused this occurrence. "You can't use magic anymore," Masami replied, but it was a mere assumption, "it's your punishment for being submissive to the demon soul, so it died." Wasn't that a little too straightforward? Masami looked away and sighed, giving himself a moment to breathe before he picks himself up on his feet to look at the magic circle they were in. "It's an old structure, I've seen this place before... in the books," and, Masami won't admit that despite Lucifer being unable to retrieve his memories, all of them were absorbed by Masami—it must have been the festival, where the accordions and xylophones played, and they died in a chaotic manner. Now was not a good time for empathy to accumulate like this—it was painful.

Masami

喜多正美

When Masami looked back at the kid, he felt slightly ashamed for uttering an assumption. Losing magic like that often isn't a good sign, even if it was a curse—technically, it makes a mage a disabled mage, and being unable to do something you used to makes anyone in a depressive mood. "I-It's alright," Masami tried to comfort the boy, whom started to weep for himself; tapping the boy's shoulders with Masami's gentle hands, no matter how gentle they were, the boy wasn't being comforted at all. "That... that magic was a bad magic! You should be glad that you've gotten rid of it... err, I know someone who can't use magic at all, but they were a great fighter!" It doesn't seem like that was an issue to the boy at all. He seems to have been crying to a completely different situation.

"He was good to me," the boy said as he wipes his tears with the back of his hands. The servant stood quiet beside him, and did nothing compared to Masami's attempt to change the atmosphere. "He wasn't... he wasn't good to you," Masami replied, as he prayed and asked for wisdom from the gods above, "he took advantage of you because of your innocence."—"Just like your demon soul?"—"I—no? I..."

Admit it or not, the child was right. Forcing Masami to think about himself, and his relationship with Lucifer, it wasn't a good timing at all. The boy looked at Masami with a disheartened face, almost as if he was going to throw a tantrum if Masami makes a mistake with his choice of words. Lucifer took advantage of Masami because of his innocence and, for some reason, Masami didn't want to admit it. Why is that? "He wasn't like that to me..." he replied, a lie that was better of said, perhaps. "I trust him and... and whenever they take me over, they take care of me, even if they were mean."
