Masami
Masami listened at the sounds of hammering nails and wood being tweaked outside the establishment they are in; Manager Yua gave him a long list of names, in which she hired to help renovate the theater. Long-story short, Masami had finally sent the cure for his mother to consume, but in exchange to that: the establishment had to break a little to the sides. Since everyone in the theater's management knew what happened anyway, it wasn't a story to be told to everyone they are acquainted with. Masami couldn't even hear half of the names Manager Yua listed out for him, and he was too much in a ponder to whether the cure would work or not. Zeami had reminded him that if he had faith in it, the cure will certainly work, so it wasn't the time to get anxious.

It was midday; the hired workers have been working ever since morning. The atmosphere reeks so much of a Joyan workhouse because everyone has been working, sadly the carpenters and the renovators had to be externally hired; the staff team worked on the burnt clothes at the back of the theater house, and the masks were being newly made. "All of the hired workers are here now?" of course, Masami didn't want to give money to those who did not come out to help. Even though Yua, technically, manages all the workload and funds, it was still Masami's duty to take care of everything. Manager Yua would then once again, give out a list of names of people who were present and working and those who will arrive a few moments after.

"Oh! Sinese men?" a strike of interest hit Masami, and the two of them know what Sin is familiar of. Sin and Joya share certain cultural resemblances and Joya will forever appreciate Sin's sense of architecture, while Joya is more on the artistic side from where Masami lived. Manager Yua would happily nod at the boy's interest, being interested as well. "Then, I may go to the marketplace to pick up food for afternoon's tea time," also, a celebration for the newly constructed Hinoki Theater.

JAN REN

Really. By this point, it's a wonder he wasn't getting paid monthly by this establishment.

Having helped out Manager Yua on more than a few occasions to say the least, the Sinese was well-familiar with his route by this point; practically walking mindlessly as he was once again summoned by the somewhat mysterious lady. Another day, another Jewel as they say... Though imagine the surprise on his face when the young wizard came to find the place entirely trashed, an entire section of it effectively missing.

For a long while, he'd froze in place and simply stared as the few workers around worked steadily on reconstructing the damaged structure. "(...I'm, at the right place, right...?)" Standing outside as his expression remained overly neutral, the wind blew as his hair somewhat swayed with the current. Blink. Blink. "(N-No, but... I know for a fact this is where it was... So--)"

"What the hell happened here!!?"

Ah, there's those emotions of his! Basically bursting out in surprise as his face took every bit of honesty possible, garnering the attention of pretty much every single person in sight; worker and/or passerby. The weird, long-haired Blue Pegasus man who yelled at a damaged theater. Truth be told, most hired arms were present at the scene by the time Jan Ren made his blatant debut; himself being about the only one late to the party. His excuse would come later in the form of belated information and another excuse to cover up his personal feelings of leniency, what with viewing himself as sort of a pseudo-savior to this establishment.

That was now entirely in pieces.
How did this even happen??

"Look at my new template.
LOOK AT IT."

Masami
Obviously, their attention would pan to the man who had reacted with: "What the hell happened here!!?" though, it wasn't really a rare reaction. In fact, with a sense of déjà vu, most of the new workers arrived with the same reaction and words, and surely the staff workers were already tired of telling the same tell over and over again. Thus, Masami turned to the black-haired lad whose hair's length was incomparable to even the theater ladies. "Long story," he said, then immediately realizing that the black-haired may not be Joyan, so he had not only switched his tone of voice, but the language as well, "please state your name to Manager Yua then she will enlist you as a present worker. Then, you are free to help out whenever. We're not too strict for today's work," it was nice to reassure workers that they'll be getting more things in return in the end... except he doesn't yet know that the person in front of him, was in fact, someone he had already met before.

Masami's general aura and appearance had matured along the way too, didn't it? And it has only been a few months as well, but no one can belittle time like that – now that Masami has finished his reason of leaving Joya, sending the cure back to his mother, now he relaxes as he waits for a letter. As Manager Yua checks her long list of names once more, Masami tip toes through his wooden sandals to peek at the names. Most of these were Joyan, some were in Fiorian, but this certain one that Manager Yua pointed at with her pen was written in... Joyan, still? Those were familiar strokes, but still not familiar enough for Masami to read.

"That's his name?" he asked, pointing at the same name that Manager Yua pointed, "Ah, there are more Sinese men that I expected," they've hired engineers, architects, then carpenters... there was enough workload for everyone and for the theater's funds to go down the drain like that, surely Masami feels a little iffy about it. "Hey, you," he called the black-haired Sinese with the signature hair length, "we also needed you to sign in this specific part," they had to be formal, after all. Manager Yua showed the list to J(i)an(g) Ren and held the pen out for him to use. Though, even in this distance, Masami could still not identify him at all.

Jan Ren

JAN REN

In a way, Jan Ren felt offput by the state the theater's been reduced to. Having helped the establishment more times than he'd bother to count garnered some feeling of belonging, which means he considered himself an active part of Hinoki's team by this point in time. So... Seeing the building demolished was almost heart-breaking in a way; enough that the Sinese would have to restrain himself from falling to his knees in shock. There were... No new of this either. Which only made things all the more disturbing; he'd have figured to at least hear about something so major happening in the city, yet... Beyond being recruited, nothing.

A familiar voice rose up as an oddly familiar -- yet new scent invaded his nostrils. Despite not being conscious of the smells taken before his... Overnight change, Jan Ren found that he could still figure out old odors, even if he'd never accounted for them before his nose got so sharp. So at the simple callout, he'd turned around; face still in some shock as he stared the young woman in the eye. Of course, he'd recognized her right away. Underestimate not a lecher's gentleman's memory with cute girls!!

--Though before the Sinese could open his mouth to voice his... Shock, really. The blond left off. Or rather, her attention was diverted as soon the familiar, charming Manager showed up byside her. "...Huh??" Bewilderment would be a good word I pulled off thesaurus to describe his face. It's barely been a few months, but Masami suddenly opted to treat him like he was a complete stranger! No sense of familiarity, and even turning to speak to him in Joyan just now. "For real--?" On top of receiving the impact of the monstrous workload on his plate (if he'd meant to get this building up properly again), there was now this to worry about as well. And even on proceeding wording she showed no signs! What was going on?? Surely he hasn't changed that much from just losing his shirt!!

"What do you mean 'hey you', that's rude!" Jan Ren retorted, almost pouting at the young girl as he grabbed the pen and paper (very politely mind you) to sign up; "Have you forgotten about me already??" The long-haired asked, admittedly worried that he didn't leave as much of an impression upon the lady as he'd hoped. Between having met twice in Marigold (through some shenanigan-worthy interaction) and another chance meeting in this very city, he was sure to at least spark her memory, if anything!

"It's me! Jan Ren!!" The Sinese defensively uttered, signing his name in the same Sinese characters he'd used up to now upon the paper. This will save at least Lady Yua the hassle of trying to read it... As she too was well-aware of who this boy was by now, too!

"But really, what the heck happened!?" --Through all questions asked; the only one Jan Ren omitted had to be concerning Masami's presence in the scene. He'd just... Kind of accepted that she'd be there, what with her being a Joyan actress and all. It actually made perfect sense. But why in a managing position?

Masami
To Masami, the Sinese man (which was someone he had met before, actually) didn't leave quite the impression, which was why he was only able to hear bits of what the Sinese man was saying. Thus, the boy would blink twice upon the Sinese man's lousy struggle, looking straight into the eyes of... "Ha?" Surely, Masami had memory problems—very slightly, in that point—but to forget something... was "forget" even the correct word? Or was Masami convinced that this man isn't Jan Ren this whole time? One of Masami's point finger slowly raised itself to, as its' purpose does, point at this man that had claimed to be Masami's acquaintance, and then the boy would quietly chuckle.

"No way?" he stated, but it was more of a question rather than a statement, really. The Joyan watched as the Sinese man signed in Manager Yua's list of recruits, and she giggled as if treating it like a signature from a famous person. She had thanked, and then nodded the Sinese before she went on; a piece of Masami wanted to leave, too. "Oh," should Masami ask the whole country of Fiore unto why its' so weird and all suspicious in changing appearance? Masami himself knew that he hasn't changed much, however... well, thinks have happened behind-the-scenes, such as the cause of this establishment's destruction. He'd scratch the back of his head and would instead proceed to answering the question of the Sinese man, still in denial that he was someone he had met before—specifically, in Marigold City. "If you didn't know yet, Joyan demons came in and did that," he'd shrug in accompany to the story, "Hosenka City is very related to Joya so... well, imbued with Fiore's magic—brought them to life."

Huh, he was sure that he told the truth but why did it feel like a lie? Or was Masami not feeling well enough to talk to people after what had happened? To be frank, Masami didn't want to admit everything to Jan Ren, knowing that he had no right to do so and the feeling of unfamiliarity was horrible. "I didn't know you were actually Sinese," a part of it was a banter, but it was more or less the truth, "well... I thought you were one of those Fiorian men pretending to be Joyan, except it's Sin."

...

The atmosphere suddenly felt so lifeless.

Masami stared at Jan Ren's eyes to feel nothingness in return, and these few seconds suddenly felt like days. Was Lucifer trying to warn Masami about something? It seemed like it, though Masami did hope in return that he'd tell Jan Ren about the demon soul later—maybe he knew something, hopefully. At this point, Masami had felt the need to escape, thus he pointed at the streets, "I'm... going to buy lunch," was what he said before walking out for a leave, and perhaps he'll come back once everything is settled in the end.
