Azure Fenic

Following up on some information he received the day before about his true target shortly after he came back which wasn't expected at all but he wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. While making his way to meeting place he overheard so talk about a rather monsters person making their way back to north Did the Boss leave? a question that he could answer later though from what he knew about the boss he would be more low key about leaving and coming back.

As he made his way to the Mine he couldn't help but feel as though the people that walked by him they didn't seem to really see to care at all compared to the Myras. A new place meant that he had new information to gather and people to blackmail if the need should come up which nearly always did with him.

The scholar finally made it to the mine "Looks like a bit overused but I guess it's okay." the men that worked around the seemed to be overworked or just tired from the day's work. The men were covered in dirt and dust as they walked by him with painful expressions on some and just tired on others which was understandable.

From the mine, the man could hear something coming out of the mouth of the cave where the mine was. It sounded very loud and chaotic as the man stood there and watched something he most likely would never expect to come out a big male deer. It looked like it's horns had recently been removed, due to the blood that was on them and it appeared to be running like it was running from a predator and that was when Azure saw what was chasing it. That Deer was not wrong.

Running out of the cave at this deer was a monstrous man easily over six and a half feet tall and looked like he weighed as much as a bear. His long brown hair went past his shoulders, and his clothing was a set of leather pants known as a Fustanella, that covered his legs to his knees and a blue silk cloth that was held between those parts. The belt that held all of this together was covered in fur and metal studs. The man also did not wear any shoes and his feet showed it based on the amount of wear and tear on the bottom of his soles. On his back was a club that was over a meter long which seemed to fit on his back well even it might have been the same size as Azure.

As the man came running out towards the deer, he took a final burst of speed before tackling the beast to the ground wrapping his massive arms around the deer's neck and as they slid across the stone the sound of a loud crack would be heard as the deer that was once running had now gone completely limp. The mountain of a man then stopped and brushed himself off as he looked down at the deer that easily weighed several hundred pounds before grabbing it by the neck and throwing it over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. At that point, the man noticed the other member of his guild standing there, and with a single word said " Come"   It was very clear that he meant Azure, as he was looking directly at him before he turned around and started to travel down the road away from the mines.

Azure started to feel uneasy the more he stood around it was like something or someone was watching him though he couldn't really be bothered to take any action. The sounds of twigs snapping and grew closer to him the more he walked closer to the mine Oh come on! I don't need this today he thought as he saw a Deer race past him. Something seemed off about the Deer though it seemed like it was scared of something then again that's just the law of the wild.

Soon enough the scholar saw just why he felt off it due to the wild man that was out and about though he didn't see how the guild would let such a thing live but so long as it didn't bother him it was fine. He watched the Beast of a man toy with the poor Deer, part of him wanted to get the hell of there while the other half wanted to observe the wild man a bit more. Amazed at the wild man's height Azure didn't really pay much attention to anything though he did hear him say something that and replied "I'm actually in the middle of something right now so rain check okay?" a true statement as he was about to get some useful information.

There was something about the man that felt familiar to him but he couldn't really put his finger on it and it was one of those things that you could remember after the fact. Until he remembered what the important fact was Azure would start walking away from the man and go about his day without the presence of a wild man.

As Ragnar started to walk away he heard the man reply back and Ragnar stopped for a moment and he pushed the deer off his shoulder and onto the ground with a thud. As this mountain of a man turned and looked at Azure, and then started to walk towards him before asking a simple question " What are you here for? " As Ragnar walked towards him, it was clear to Azure if he was still watching that Ragnar was looking at him the same way someone would before they were about to fight. Looking him up and down he realized that Azure was most likely not a threat to him or the mountain that his guild called his home. Even though his guild symbol was not visible to anyone, Ragnar knew that was more beneficial to the guild as a whole. They were a group of spies and murderers, no need to let people know who they were unless it was advantageous to do so.

Ragnar stopped about six feet in front of the man, the deer more than that behind him as he waited for his answer. Ragnar's club was still stretched across his back, though it was unlikely that is Azure tried to run from Ragnar it would not end well for him even if Ragnar didn't draw it.

As he walked away he heard a loud thud which meant that the wild man was not done with him yet even though he had made it clear that he wasn't interested in anything might offer. The fact that the man kept talking to him upset the scholar "It has nothing to do with a savage like your self now if you don't mind." he tried to hold himself back from yelling at the man but his frustration was visible however and was not something he wanted to deal with today.

As the man stopped in from of him he did his best to avoid direct eye contact with him Looks like I have to talk my way out this he thought as he accidentally made eye contact with him. A sudden chill flew down his spine even though it was just a quick glance it was enough to raddle him mentally. Azure couldn't help but feel scared for his life the man was a mountain in comparison to himself and from what he saw with the Deer he was completely outclassed in speed and power so he really did need to talk his way out of this. "Look I just need to get through alright," he said turning around and walking away from the man once again in hopes he would be left alone now.

Ragnar looked at this small man that apparently had made it his mission in life to not give Ragnar anything useful or important. As the man said these things to him, Ragnar's eyes started to shift slightly as he noticed something very odd from his mouth and he started to watch it more closely as he wasn't sure what he might have seen there. Ragnar thinks about this for a moment before the man turns and then walks off.

Ragnar would allow the man to completely turn around before reaching out and grabbing the man's left arm with his right hand, not by his clothes but wrap his entire hand around the forearm of this man. Ragnar's fingers could almost touch around this man's bicep and as he held it, Ragnar knew he most likely had enough strength to rip this mans' arm out of socket or possibly off if he didn't listen to his request. Ragnar then turned the man around, and any resistance from his man would be met with a gentle, for Ragnar, but firm tug on his arm. " Open your mouth" Ragnar would not have any back sass on this, and if this man continued to disagree with him, Ragnar would first pop his arm out of the socket, and if he continued to resist he would rip it off.

Ragnar's gaze at this man made it very clear that Ragnar was not messing around anymore and was going to hurt him if he didn't answer his questions.

Azure was kind of upset that he had to waste so much time dealing with a caveman even if it was a slightly more scary one than what he normally deals with. He still couldn't figure out why he was so familiar to him but now that he was free he didn't need to waste brainpower on the matter. As he walked away he could still feel the man's eye on him almost as if he was being tracked by the wild man. Talk about pushy men he thought as he felt something take hold of his left arm with a very tight grip at that. Sure enough, it was the caveman that took hold of his arm and forcefully turned him around to face him normally in a situation like this he would cast a spell but his fear from before prevented him from doing anything of the sort.

He had never been more afraid for his life than in this one moment normally he could talk his way around types like this man with no problem but this one actually had some brains. Azure began to tremble as he looked at the man's eye as he asked the scholar to open his mouth. A rather odd request to ask of someone and one he would have been more than happy to do if the fear had not stunned him. Come on move you can take him! part of him thought even though the current state of things said otherwise.

Azure opened his mouth as the man requested even though he was more than shaken to his core. In opening his mouth he had forgotten to hid his guild mark on his tongue Oh crap! a more than appropriate thought to have in that moment.

As the man opened his mouth, Ragnar looked and the sunlight of the mountains showed him what he needed to see. The symbol of Sentinel Syndicate and he knew this kid was most likely one of the guilds spies or something of that nature. Ragnar by his very nature was more of a bruiser for the guild than an information gather.

Ragnar let the guy go, his arm leaving his though he was sure that it would still hurt a little given that Ragnar was fully ready to rip his arm out of the socket if he did not listen to him. Ragnar then turned around and walked back towards the deer on the ground, he waved his hand forward and called backward towards Azure. " Come with me, I will feed you while you wait for whoever or whatever you waiting for. Least I can do. " Ragnar then threw the deer back over his shoulder and then started to walk. A little way down the road was a large cave that looked like it might have been the entrance to a mine and Ragnar had set up camp there.

There was a fire going in the middle, large enough to cook an entire flank of deer if need be and in the corner was some rope. Ragnar dropped the deer near that rope, and then tied the deers back legs together with one end of the rope before throwing the other end over some rocks above him. Once that end of the rope landed he pulled the deer carcass up until it was just barely off the ground where he tied it off against a rock nearby.

Ragnar then went over to a nearby pack and pulled out a pair of knives, and then walked back over to the deer. Ragnar stopped for a moment and then looked to see if Azure had followed him. If he did then Ragnar would say " What part of this deer do you want? "

He quickly closed his mouth after hopefully showing the man what he wanted to see and sure enough, he was freed from the man's grip What have they been feeding him? he wondered holding his left arm. Azure would be lying to himself if he went back to his normal child-like self but this brought some old thing back into the light some of which he thought could wait a bit to be handled.

Azure watched the caveman picked up the deer that he dropped before all this, part of him questioned just what he a mountain of man would do with a Deer of that size and some of the thoughts were not as pleasing as he wanted them to be. While he collected himself the caveman asked him to follow
"O..okay...sure..." he replied to the man's request, after all, it wasn't like he had a choice in the matter. As the scholar followed him he started to think that this man was also a member of the guild or at least connected to in some way. A cave for a caveman that wasn't something that he didn't see coming at all it wasn't as though he been calling caveman fro no reason.

As Ragnar worked on the deer Azure felt highly uncomfortable with the whole set up but he valued his own life, the caveman asked him another question in regard to what part of the Deer he wanted "Oh no thank you, sir, I ate already. I do have a question for you sir if you don't mind?" at this point he wanted to know what kind of connection this mountain had to the guild.

Ragnar shrugged when the man turned down his food, and he started to skin the deer without really thinking about it. Ragnar started with one of the legs, at which point he managed to quickly expose some muscle from the leg and he quickly cut that off, taking half of the meat on that leg before going over and putting several pieces of wood through it and then walking over and sitting that meat next to the fire for it to cook. Ragnar then went back to the deer and started working on the rest of the deer. Ragnar seemed to be doing this without much thought as if he had done this dozens of times before and didn't really need much thought at this point.

" Let me answer some of your questions I am sure you will ask first. Yes, I know what your guild is. Yes, I do work with them on occasion and yes I would have ripped your arms off if you had refused to listen to my orders when I gave them to you. Though now that I know you are under the protection of The Guild, then you will be safe from most of my wraith as doing so would upset the great Blizzard of the North and even I am not strong enough to withstand his wraith for long periods of time "

Azure watched as the man worked on the Deer which he had to admit the amount of skill he had was amazing to someone that has never lived in such a lifestyle and never will now that he's seen it first hand. The scholar was sure of one thing and that was he glad to have someone of his capabilities on their side as who knew how things would have turned out if he was alined with another guild that had it out for the Syndicate which now that he thought about wasn't many.

Before he had the chance to even ask his question the caveman had already begin to answer them Well I guess he's advanced Caveman he thought getting up and walking around the man making sure to scan each part of the cave for anything useful. Now that he's managed to answer all the important questions but that of his name he felt the need to know "Okay, then what's your name then sir?" if he knew the name he could figure out what role they play in the guild or at least his connection to it anyway though it wasn't as though he didn't have his guest as to who this man could be. Before the man could even ask him what his names were he would give a name that he started to like "I'm Index by the way." a name that his father gave him due to his memory being so good,

As Ragnar watched the fire and watched his food cook, he listened to the boy's questions and he said simply " Ragnar Asgeir. And your name is Index? Like the thing, you find in the back of books? " Ragnar had rarely read books, as he didn't really have much need most of the time, and the books he did read rarely had indexes in them and were more of an esoteric nature. As Ragnar flipped his flank of deer over he said simply " Why are you apart of the Guild? You don't exactly seem like the kind of person to be in the line of work like this. " Ragnar though to be fair had only ever met the other guild members, Caius and Joshua who had apparently died very recently from something once before and had no interest in meeting them again.

Ragnar was very much a loner in terms of the guild, but from what he could see most of the guild basically stayed to themselves and did not really interact. The guild was less of a guild and more like a loose group of mercenaries with their own goals and agendas tied together by a single powerful leader able to keep them all in line and when needed point them in a direction.

To say he was surprised would be an understatement but for him to meet one of the more higher-ranked members of the guild in such a way was less than favorable for him. If this was how he let off steam Azure couldn't judge him for it after all everyone has their own way of doing things, Ragnar went on to ask about the origins of his name "Yes like the thing in books..." even though they are members of the same guild giving out his true name was not something that liked to do unless he liked them. Though knowing that Ragnar has the ability to read makes him a very advanced Caveman but a caveman none the less.

"Ragnar Skulltaker Asgeir your right I'm not" People often overlook Azure when it comes fighting abilities but it has helped him on many occasions before and after joining the guild. He couldn't help but think that this was yet another case of someone overlooking him but any action taken against the current company would only create more problems, "If you wouldn't mind could you train me to become a fighter?" it was something he asked in a joking manner.

Ragnar nodded to himself as he figured it was spelled that way when he got confirmation. Ragnar sat there and watched the fire and his meat to make sure it was cooked the way he wanted it and he had almost missed what Azure said. " I'm not" which struck him as very odd. He would have never been allowed into the guild unless he had some kind of skill and ability that the Guild Master found useful in some way shape or form. Ragnar looked back over at him for a moment as he thought about this and he couldn't quite figure out why Kon would want someone like this in the guild. Maybe he has some powerful Magic that Kon wants in the upcoming war against the Dragons or maybe there is just potential in him. Ragnar could not easily tell and his thought process was thrown off when he was asked, in a joking manner, to train the boy.

Ragnar shook his head and laughed to himself, Ragnar wasn't a trainer of men, unless they were willing to be taught by getting beaten repeatedly until they learned. That is how Ragnar learned and is basically the only way he knows how to teach. " You would not want that, the way I would teach would break your bones into dust and I am sadly not strong enough yet to fix your bones. " Ragnar looked the man up and down again as if judging his possible fighting potential and he wasn't really liking what he was seeing. Though Ragnar has just recently been gifted Magical ability after his entire life without them, so he wasn't the best judge of knowing a mage with potential.

Ragnar looked back over at his meet as he flipped it over again to get the other side as evenly cooked as possible. Ragnar hadn't let the deer bleed out or lay there for several days so it was going to be tougher, but he was hoping that cooking it evenly would at least help with that slightly

Azure walked back to his seat across from Ragnar and looked at the Caveman as he saw that he was taken back by his response to the question before which was fair as he said it on purpose collecting information was a skill that he more or less mastered at this point. In this current moment, he wanted to collect some more information just to see if what he already knew was correct or not and it was fine to mess around for a bit with the possibility of getting hurt in the end was fun for him to some extent. If this is the way he lives he must not have many companions that stop by he thought flipping his hair out his eyes.

As he listened to the man's reply he held back his laughter and just looked at the meat that he was cooking "So Mr. Skulltaker tell me, any friends or companions?" he asked knowing that Ragnar would mostly laugh at the question but simple questions like this always help gauge people's mindsets and given that he is always planning something he had a few backup questions he could ask. Azure held his left arm gently making sure that he would remember the day's events and pay Caveman back one day "Man how do you live like this?" he asked still holding his arm.

Ragnar flipped over his deer meat one more time and let it sit there for a moment as he knew that it was going to be done well enough here soon and he could eat and then eventually get away from this the member of his guild. Ragnar was not sure why but he felt that he was being judged and he didn't like it very much because that made him want to hurt this small man but that would get him in trouble with the guild master.

" Let me ask you this... In your line of work as a spy and informant do you make a lot of real friends? I am going to assume not due to the fact that you are just that. A spy and informant and the only people you can be friends with are the people of your guild and given the fact that your guild doesn't operate the way of one big happy family I am sure you have as many friends as I do. " Ragnar was now starting to show a small part of the aggression that was inside of him, he was getting annoyed by the questions that were pointless in his mind as this should be obvious knowledge to him.

Ragnar took a deep breath, as to calm himself slightly before he turned to answer Azure's second question. " I live how is required of me. If I have to live on my own in the wilderness for a long period of time then I can. Something I assume isn't exactly something that is taught to you where you are from based on your reaction to a simple deer. " Ragnar reached over to the deer and pulled out a piece of meat that must be really hot as he eats it. It was getting there but he did wish that he hadn't lost his pouch of spices during his last mining raid. Maybe that rogue stole it from him.

Azure flinched slightly as he listened to Ragnar as it was kind of a soft subject for him at this time given his encounter with Etaoin, In a child-like fashion he stood up and looked at the man "I have friends!" he shouted clenching his fist "I...I'm sorry sir I didn't mean to get so defensive." normally he was a lot better at keeping himself composed but it would have seemed that today would not work in his favor. Though he through that outburst he did listen to the second answer that was given which didn't really affect him as much as he knew he grew up with a rather weird family that came with its own pitfalls.

Not wanting to risk his life on this day the scholar turned way from his guildmate and thinking about his actions of today and how they all ended up with him nearly getting killed or seriously hurt both of which he could normally avoid. Azure needed to leave the present company he could recollect himself. "Sir I hope we can meet again on better terms," he said just before leaving him alone with the kill ad he left the frustration he had felt just kept building upon its self, could something Ragnar had said hold some truth to it? Or was it just him coming to terms with the fact he wasn't as good as he thought? Either way, he would need to work on himself before he even thought about meeting Ragnar again.
