After the last job he'd been asked to do on behalf of Alice, Ko had been hoping to get a break from catering the diva. After all, his strange go-between with Alice and Rebecca had lead to an unfortunate misunderstanding with that fan of Alice's. Ko didn't feel guilty exactly; after all, the guy had been an utter miscreant, and likely only a few bad days away from graduating to a proper stalker.

Regardless, it had been Ko's fault that the man was targeted by Alice and, subsequently, himself. So when Alice had sent out word that she required his services once again, he was just ever so slightly reticent. In the end, Ko couldn't come up with a good reason to refuse, as usual. After all, this was his job, and he needed the money. As always.

When he arrived at Alice's dressing room, he found her much as he'd expected. Whether because of real threats or imagined ones, Alice had been getting more and more defensive of her position as the idol of Marigold Theater. Ko hadn't even been in her dressing room a few minutes before she started going on and on about this new woman Ko had never heard of before. Her name was Goergina Dawson, and according to Alice she was a conniving young woman who used her looks and money to seduce everyone around her.

Naturally, Ko questioned whether this was true or not right away, though not out loud. Alice tended to assume the worst of people on sight, which wasn't all that surprising. It was typical for dishonest people to assume others to be just as dishonest as they are. Whatever the case, Alice had a plan to take care of her problem. All Ko had to do was follow along with it and she would take care of the rest. At least that meant it'd be easy money.

The first step had already been established thus far. Ko had been doing work for the theater for a long while now, both directly for Alice and as an interim actor whenever they'd been short of staff. The proprietor who liked to throw together large productions to raise the prominence of the Theater knew Ko by name.

It wasn't hard to convince the rest of the theater that Ko was actually working there part-time as Alice protege. Rebecca seemed a bit miffed about it, but she was a smart woman and recognized a scheme of Alice's when she saw one. Of course, it was just Ko's luck that they'd chosen a time when the theater was in the throes of preparing for another production to pull this off. The vial Alice had given him was sitting heavy in his pocket.

Other actors approached and chatted with Alice at random, inquiring about Ko and complimenting her on her ability to choose talented proteges. To his credit, Ko managed not to break character, and just calmly thanked all of them for their compliments without drawing too much attention. That was how Alice preferred it anyway, the utter narcissist that she was. Thankfully it didn't take long for them to get to where they needed to be: outside Georgina's dressing room. Alice left Ko by himself, to the side and out of sight, and approached the door to knock herself.

As he watched, Georgina answered the door promptly, and seemed both surprised to see Alice as well as genuinely happy. The girl was clearly a soft-hearted sort who wanted to get alone with Alice despite the older actress' poor demeanor. If Ko had any doubts about what Alice had been saying about Georgina's character before, they were completely quelled now. It was a shame, if nothing else.

Ko watched the interaction between the two of them for a moment, silently acknowledging Alice's skill in hiding her true feelings for Georgina. While it was clear that Georgina knew that Alice didn't like her, the younger girl was giving off the impression that this was a change of heart in Alice, not an act she was putting up.

That, in and of itself, was a testament to Alice's acting skill. Honestly, it was part of the reason Ko still continued doing her bidding without complaint. If she'd been some hack, ruining the theater with her poor attempts at maintaining her position, he'd have dropped her contracts ages ago. For now, her money still held weight, and so he watched for his chance to follow through.

With so many workers coming to and fro, it took some time for Ko to find an opening to sneak towards Georgina's dressing room. It was imperative that no one see her enter; more so than anyone seeing him leave, at least. From how Alice had described it, Georgina's admirers were everywhere, and more than willing to get involved if something suspicious was going on.

So long as he got inside without anyone noticing, Georgina was unlikely to kick up a fuss or throw out any suspicion. Part of Ko wondered how Alice had arrived at that conclusion, given her certainty that Georgina was as manipulative as she was, but it was a moot point. Ko agreed with the assessment that he could play off his intrusion once she found him as long as he played into her personality.

Finally, a chance came. Slipping around the edge of the work space and keeping one eye on Alice and Georgina, Ko stealth-fully maneuvered towards Georgina's dressing room. More accurately, Ko moved towards the room casually and in full view, allowing any cues that he was doing something he shouldn't be to melt away from him. It was more important to look like you were meant to be doing something than to not be seen when sneaking into places. As expected, he got to Georgina's dressing room door without issue, and a moment later he was inside.

Upon entering Georgina's dressing room, Ko couldn't help but take pause. Of the dressing rooms he'd entered thus far, Alice and Rebecca had very utilitarian decorations. They were work spaces, and had no room for frivolous things. Alice, he supposed, had a bit more in terms of decoration, though in her case they were all things to reminded her how famous she was: advertisements, playbooks, portraits, those sorts of things.

Georgina's room was completely different. It still had the vanity mirror and the tools of her trade, of course, but it otherwise looked almost like a teenage girl's bedroom. There were small plushies everywhere, literally, and given what Ko was getting ready to do they almost made him feel like he was surrounded. The walls and furniture were all pink, and utterly fetching in that 'pastel' sort of way that children's things are. Honestly it was a little ridiculous.

Either way, Ko had a job to do. It didn't take long for him to go through the room and find a cup of tea sitting on the counter of Georgina's vanity mirror; it seemed she'd been having a little tea break before Alice had come knocking. Despite the idiocy of it, Ko had to avoid making eye contact with any of the stuffed animals in the room as he pulled out the small vial, removed the stopper and emptied the contents into her tea. What's done was done. Once she took a sip of that tea, that'd be the end of it.

Ko couldn't help but reflect on how similar this was to the last time he'd entered the dressing room of one of Alice's rivals. At least this time he wouldn't be snuffing her out with his bare hands. Ko turned to leave the room, when suddenly the door opened, and standing there looking at him was Georgina. The confusion on her face was clear, and Ko had to school himself to avoid letting his true feelings show. This was bad.

Despite her confusion, Georgina immediately defaulted to her likable demeanor, only seeming slightly embarrassed that he'd seen her dressing room in the state it was in. Ko supposed he could understand that; she probably didn't want to seem quite as childish as this room looked. To his surprise, Georgina knew who he was; not as Alice's protege, but from the productions the theater's proprietor had been putting on.

She even seemed a little starstruck, asking him about his part as the Black Knight and where he learned his choreography from. Ko did his best to explain that he'd heard good things about her and wanted to meet her himself, while elaborating that he was a mercenary before his acting foray. They chatted back and forth like that for sometime, some point during which Georgina returned to her cup of tea and took a sip.

The job was done by that point. Ko indulged her and her questions for a bit longer, but he couldn't afford to stay too long. If he were inside the room when she actually passed, it would look extremely suspicious. When they parted ways, Georgina expressed warmly that she looked forward to working with him, and at that moment Ko felt a twinge of regret.

However, in the end, Ko wasn't an actor at all. He was a mercenary hired to make sure that she died. A few minutes later he was back in Alice's dressing room, delivering the 'good' news. Alice was, of course, ecstatic. In fact, she wasn't just ecstatic, she was drunk; it seemed her trust in his loyalty was so great that she hadn't even needed to wait to know the job was done.

Ko would have been flattered if she didn't then follow that up with more ridiculous flirting. He knew better than to think she'd actually do anything with him; she saw him as a pawn, and that's exactly how Ko liked it. He took his reward with him on the way out.
