This actor. This persistent, ever-present actor. Just wouldn't stop coming to him for help.

In his recent tryouts, Jan had took over several directoral roles, amongst which was advertisement and actual stage play, though this time it seemed like the objective in mind was different. He was skeptical whether he was even fit for the job, quite literally. The theater had certainly grown larger, funds being poured into it through latest performances and audiences present, not just in thanks to Jan's antics but also the management team's persistence in trying to promote their field. When it came to Marigold, it was easy to tell that the theater was growing to become one of the cornerstones of the city, a true attraction for most. It gained a lot of fame and power, enough to promote longer plays and slower showtimes, giving it leeway to charge higher fees for entrance as well, a leisure it couldn't dream of having when the Sinese had only been first hired.

But you know what they say. With big power, comes big responsibilities. And in this instance, the actor had wished something quite different from the young man, coming to his inn room once more (directly and uninvited, mind you) to request for his help. As a bodyguard, of all things!

Not even a bouncer or a security guard, an actual bodyguard. To one of the guest actors that were to arrive at the theater for a one-time only performance. An exclusive deal that this actor somehow managed to strike without making a fool of himself, great for him! Supposedly, this man had quite the name made for himself, and it wouldn't be odd to assume others wouldn't want him around. And seeing Jan's growth in recent days, plus the reliability he gained with him, the choice was obvious.

Luckily, Jan wasn't enlisted into the job right away. He was given time to prepare himself, mentally and physically - as in, gather whatever items he deemed necessary to fully complete the job, while steeling his mind, making sure he was fully prepared to take on a role that was, yet again, foreign to him. It appears that, whenever he was working with this theater, he was always presented with a different task or job that he simply never delved in before. It was interesting, but at the same time quite troublesome, stressful even, if the Sinese happened to screw up in some way.

The day later, Jan had arrived at the theater'd gates by 6 AM sharp, waiting on the leading actor to escort him to wherever this guest bigshot was, so they could start with this mission. As opposed to other requests made by the theater in the past, this was a single-day's gig, and as such, perceived to be arguably easier to complete... Yet at the same time, a lot more dangerous. He was promised quite the hefty fund should this be a success.

Led to a house nearby, Jan came in after the request client, inspecting the house briefly before resuming the client's designated route into a specific room, that opened to reveal too many flashing lights. Far too many for Jan's liking, feeling almost like his own skin would burn if he had stayed in the room for too long. Inside, sat quite the feminine-looking man. He looked to be in his late twenties if not early thirties, and had an odd air to him, for lack of a better term. The prissy man immediately started complaining about how late the Sinese and the client were, making a bad first impression. After a brief introduction, Jan was assigned to escort the actor for the whole day, with the actor leaving them alone together.

On first instance, Jan found the job to be quite taxing, mentally if not physically. The actor was complaining more than he should have, about Marigold's weather and air, of all things; as the two had set outside, the Sinese relegated to holding a wide umbrella and instructed not to allow even a single ray of sun hit the actor's skin. Anyone, would be pissed off if that was the treatment they received. What's so 'bodyguard' about simply nannying some big baby?

Though soon enough, things turned for the better. The foreign actor went out of his way to purchase a meal for the Sinese, and the two had a nice talk over breakfast, timed well and kept light before the man's first performance for the day. Single-time gig? As it turns out, the theater elected to host three performances for this special day, featuring none other than this man: Geordo Lukeheart. Honestly, a name Jan had never heard before, yet he was never part of the acting community as it is.

By 10 AM, the two were already in the theater backstage, Geordo instructing Jan to remain outside and keep watch should anything look suspicious; and kept watch he did. Leaning against the wall, arms crossed and looking here and there, the young man couldn't help but drift into thought. He was an inexperienced guard, and it showed. Enough for, a silent assailant to avoid his gaze in quick movements, closing in on the curtains' level, preparing an attack on Geordo. Jan, oblivious to all of this, allowed the actor to step out of his personally assigned dressing room and go take the first performances for the day, proud and confident as ever; simply emanating light, as his performances appeared superb.

Truth be told, the Sinese had never seen anything like that. Nobody performed that well. It's a shame things were going to end quickly.

At some point as Jan remained backstage and witnessed Geordo's acting, awestruck and honestly moved by his performance, the assailant was preparing his strike. Fiddling with the ropes holding the curtains, trampling with the sand bags used to raise them. Of course, Jan remained fully oblivious to those antics, and as such, could never tell that the perfect timing for the attack would come, at the performance's climax.

Come the big scene, the grande finale. And Geordo started out with a moving, ad-libbed speech. Yes, the actor had not practiced those lines before, but simply allowed the character he was playing to run through his body, possess him and lay out the words to the audience in the best way he could. He was but a vessel, for this entire persona nobody knew; and his job was to make sure the crowd got to know him inside and out, simply from his performance, and especially so in the speech.

Luck would not have it so easily, as some time into Geordo's monolgue and steps, the curtain level suddenly made a loud clunking sound, as the steel beam dropped down from above. The crowd was startled at simply the curtains falling down, literally. And with a loud crash, the steel pole fell hard into the wooden stage, digging into the ground with the force of the fall.

The crowd went fully silent. Then it started with murmurs, and then gradual panic. Until, from inside the red curtains, rose a figure. Geordo. Erupting from the red curtains, unscathed, in all his glamour. Playing as if by the script, like it was all perfectly planned. The crowd simply went wild, buying into the act like it was all part of the show. The assailant present above couldn't see what happened, and dumbfounded, found himself struck in the back of the head; with a solid shot that knocked him out cold.

By the performance's end, Geordo rushed backstage to check on none other than his faithful bodyguard. Finding the Sinese bleeding internally in his upper left back, and blood rolling down from the side of his head. Greeting the actor with a smile.

...When the steel pole fell down, Jan had somehow managed to leap just in time to save the actor from certain death. Pushing him out of the way as he took the full brunt of the beam on his back, dropping down to the floor as the famous actor was forced face-down. Understanding in an instant what happened, the two exchanged barely any words before the Blue Pegasus mage made his way hastily to the roof of the theater, somehow managing to climb the odd terrain with ease. Finding the assailant laying in wait, and with a spell, shooting a single drop of water at his head. With the assailant captured, Jan could go downstairs again, handing the offender to the guards and heading to rest in the dressing room. ...

Geordo thanked the Sinese, perhaps exaggeratedly. Going as far as to smooch the young man (thankfully, not on his lips; that may have done more damage than the steel beam). The leading actor burst into the dressing room to see if Geordo was alright, asking for Jan's well-being later (which wasn't missed upon the Sinese, though he understood. In a way). With this, the young wizard understood the magnitude held in the job he undertook, and the possible danger that lurked with it. He knew he had to be more on-guard, as the next time, he might not be so miraculously lucky.

Things did get a bit more complicated however, when Geordo - seemingly entranced by the sudden spark of danger, demanded that a similar stunt be pulled for his noon and evening acts too.

To which... Jan was absolutely not going to take part in!!
