"Together, we will arise with the morning light."

It has been a while since Aegis and Tomoe got back to their home in the penumbral guard hall in marigold. Recently Aegis has been kept busy doing research on the rooms that they had found during their time in the sieghart mountains. It was a lot more difficult than anticipated because they weren't able to get a glimpse of the runes again after being teleported back into the room. A combination of the magic circle not appearing, just not working again when walked on, and Tomoe taking the shortest route out of the building prohibited him from getting any clearer aspects on what it could have been caused by. Trying to explain what had happened and not being able to find what it happened to the other miners was a problem in and of itself.

There was a library in town and he had spent a few hours of the day they're trying to get history books or any kind of magic circle basics but couldn't find anything in recent or late history that described anything like it. It was still hard to actually think about and describe for himself, let alone trying to pair it to knowledge that existed already. There was some Magics that created dormant traps, but none that had listed as any kind of teleportation or the sort. Although his explanation of teleport is not exactly accurate to what they had perceived. Teleportation was a very tricky thing even in regarding to Magic and how it's used. He honestly wasn't sure how long it was going to be before he found what he needed, so as they had agreed upon before, Rashida went to stay with the merchant friend he had acquired in town known as Kurth. Over the last little while, starting with the foundation of penumbral guard, they had started to grow a bond. Not just from a perspective of merchants and buyer, but interacted much further than that

After sitting and reading for quite some time, one of the people the library came up to him. "Sir, I don't mean to be rude but are you all right?" "Oh, I am fine. I just have plenty of research to do, and currently the time to do the physical research." "I apologize if it was disrespectful, but you've been here for over three days and the nothing but read the books. Don't get me wrong, as a librarian and caretaker here I i'm all for it, it's just a bit of natural to see someone not need to sleep or eat. But I guess that's more due to your... Situation." her face got very red as soon as the words came out of her mouth "Of course, didn't mean that in a bad way..." Aegis chuckled softly, "It's quite alright, I still haven't gotten used to it myself. No reparations needed." she put a hand to her head in relief, obviously worried about having offended the very large lich sitting in the middle of the library. "Well, if you need any help looking for something, feel free to let me know. I've been working here for a long time and I can probably point you to anything you need." "Much appreciated." he said before waving as she walked away.

The books that he had read before were mostly the history of magic and its general purpose on a fundamental level, and how exactly it functions using mana. Teleportation surely has existed, and has been used, but this felt immensely different then mere teleportation. It felt more like a gateway, one that had a physical door to enter and leave from. He was still processing in his mind what it happened and what exactly he had seen, and as he thought about it more and more the visions and playback from his memory became much clearer, but only a little at a time. This is going to take a while before he could remember something solidly he thought to himself.

"Together, we will arise with the morning light."

He slowly placed the book down on the table and brought his hand up to his head and rubbed where his temples would be. It was very frustrating not being able to remember clearly, especially something you would seen with your own eyes and experience with your own senses. Something that you experienced with your senses makes your reality, and your reality involves all that you can sense. Having something happen that is both outside your sense and reality perception wasn't as shocking to him as maybe some people would take it, but being able to not fully grasp it and understand it was frustrating. None of the books that were here seemed to have much in the way of knowledge about anything like this. Or if it was written somewhere, it probably wouldn't be at a public library.

He thought about the possibility of checking out the Mage Towers back in Crocus, but shot down the idea in his mind as it would bring too much suspicion or prying eyes. Mages are known for their seeking of knowledge and tenacity in that aspect, and he didn't want to deal with that on top of everything else going on right now. He sighed slightly, as the lights in his eyes went out briefly as one would use eyelids to cover theirs from overuse. If not here, where would there be knowledge about this outside the prying eyes of Mages, Nobles, or any of the sort that would intend wrong use with this.

Standing up, he slowly made his way over to the desk of the librarians. "Sorry to be a bother, but I had spoke with someone earlier from the library, and they said they would be able to help me find a source if I needed and asked. I was hoping she was still here."

One of the ladies behind the desk swung around to look at him, "Oh, the person spoke with you has been off for two days... But I can help you find something if you need it." Time. Recently for him it's been very non-consistent. for some, mere minutes had been days, and sometimes days had been nothing more than an hour. Time. This has not been something that he had been doing research on, merely the transportation of one location to another.

"Could you please point me to any literature regarding time based magic?". She looked up in the air and seemed to be paused, while she was thinking for a little while. " I think there are a few here, I can take you to where they are if you like." Aegis gave a slight bow, "That would be much appreciated, thank you." They begin walking through the main hall of the library, passed where he was sitting and reading earlier. This Library itself was quite vast, and he was glad to have the guide as it took them a while to actually reach the section that she had pondered about. Passed all of the seated people, up and along a large staircase to the second floor. Upon getting to a section of books cordoned off, she began with a wave of her hand and begin speaking. "These normally need to be monitored while being used, so please refrain from taking them out of the library. Anything regarding what you would asked about would be in the section if it is here." "Thank you kindly." he said nodding again. "No worries!" she exclaimed, seemingly happy to be helpful. "If you have any other questions feel free to let us know down stairs."

As she began walking away, he got to work sorting through what books they had.

For some reason the authors of these books did not want to describe their books very well. Many of the titles were very obscure and very difficult to actually get a basis of what the book entailed by just reading the front cover or the spine. So what he decided to do was grab the first five books, and he brought them to the table nearby. He sent down in one of the chairs that was obviously not made for someone of his height, and began reading. One book after another, he sat and read. Two books, five books, 10 books, eventually he lost count as it wasn't as important as the information in them. He finally stopped picking up new ones when he got to the 23rd book.

In-depth analysis of time and its uses was the title strewn about the cover of the book. Not only was this book heavy, but it was massive. Not only did it contain instances and probable pass uses of magic in this regard, but also had a great many theories and hypotheses about its probable uses. Height, width, and depth what are the dimensions that people used, time being one known about but not well explored apparently. Some of the theories that people have come up with were that there were actually 10 dimensions and total but we only knew about, or could even hypothesize about, six.

Though he couldn't prove them, connections started to form and break down in Aegis' mind. Many theories and Apophis he's formed end give birth in his mind, but then contradicted and disassembled themselves as he sat out there alone at the table. Not a combination of teleportation and / or time manipulation, but a way to change ones dimensional visualization. A way of seeing experiencing a dimension that you did not exist in.

Upon this final realization, he slowly close the books and put them down on the table. The theory made sense, but it was going to be hard to prove. The location where he had originally experienced it was quite a distance away, and even when they were there they attempted to study it. But not only did the circle that appeared below them not show up again, it wouldn't react for anyone else either. The location itself didn't provide any answers either, most of the stone was smoothed and looks like it was almost machined, but there were no indications of who had done it or when it had been constructed.

In his mind, testing needed to be done. However doing so would not only be difficult for acquiring materials, but he did not know where to start yet. He would need help from the researchers at his Guild. He had acquired a great many minds during their formation of the Guard, mostly out of locals or mages that applied to that had an above average intelligence. Most of them are juniors, and didn't have much practice under their belts, but they could prove useful as a fresh set of eyes on anything could be beneficial.

Cautiously, for the care of the books, he closed them all and made his way back over to the bookshelf where they were retrieved.
Carefully he play some old back in the order that they were in, in hopes not to make extra work for the kind attendants who helped him find it in the first place. After making sure all the things were back the way they were, he started making his way down the stairs and walked over to the desk where they were stationed. "I just wanted to thank you for your help, I ended up finding what I was looking for."

"Well I am glad to hear that!" the lady said back to him, "I hope you come back and spend your time with us again. It's so nice to see people that are interested in history and the things that writings can hold." "Of course, thank you again for your time, it was most helpful." he finished. He waved back towards her as he walked forward, heading out of the large white building.

Rashida needed to be picked up. While he was at the library, she was off helping and staying with someone in town who he trusted named Kurth. They had bonded quite well after using him for the majority of his obscure asks during the construction of the Penumbral Guard guild hall.He was a merchant that held ownership of a store in town that had almost anything you needed. It was more of a jack of all trades store if you had to put it into perspective. It wasn't too long of a walk from the library to his store, and he had felt a bit of a tinge from not being able to see her for that long. He had grown very accustomed to having her nearby, and was almost slightly uncomfortable being away from her, he was a bit late and by the thoughts of him being a cautious father to her.

It was evening when he left the library, which was good because she actually helped the store owner, Kurth, while she was staying there. In that regard she got to earn money to spend for herself, as well as Aegis hoped it would help her with her inability to speak with others. She still spoke fine when she was with him, and she had been creative and ways of communicating with others, but he had hoped the end goal would be to get her to be able to speak normally.

"Together, we will arise with the morning light."

There was a slight evening breeze coming from the ocean, and one could tell because the air itself still had a slightly salty smell to it. The temperature was nice and cool, not in any regard freezing, but not too warm either. The roads were pretty empty as he walked through them, which is odd as Marigold seemed to have gotten quite busy recently for reasons he wasn't quite sure of. Inside the buildings, people or still lively, as it wasn't too late for that. He nodded respectfully to the guards as he walked by, as surely they would have busy jobs during the recent influx of people.

Upon getting to Kurths' store, he took what would seem like a deep breath before putting his hand on the door to open the entrance to the shop up. Almost immediately, Rashida rushed up to him and embraced him. He smiled slightly as he reached down and put his hand on her head. "I am sorry it was so long, but I think I got what I needed." he said down to her. Although she wouldn't even look up, she was too strongly attached to his leg. "Good evening Kurth, I hope business has been well." "Of course it has! Having her here is a blessing. Kind'a makes me jealous when my customers drop after she leaves." at the end of the sentence she started to laugh. "I am also glad you found what you're looking for though, good news I hope?" yes looking questioningly at Aegis. "Yes. Didn't exactly find what I was looking for exactly, but I was able to confirm the concept could exist." "Well, i'm glad you almost found what you were looking for?" he said almost half sarcastically but with good intent. "Thank you." as he turns down to look at the small human still attached to him in a vice-like grip. "Are you ready?"

She nodded rapidly while still being attached to his leg and cloak. She briefly let go and ran upstairs to the right side of the building to grab her things. "Thank you again Kurth, for watching her while I was away." "No problem my friend, anytime. Just remember me when you're looking for some fancy items all right?" Aegis chuckled "I always do.". As she ran back down the stairs, Rashida once again attached herself to Aegis as she was near him. He reached down and picked up her stuff in his left hand, and picked her up and put her on his shoulder with his right. Making sure not to hit her head on the door as they left, he waved back at Kurth. "Be well, and until next time." Aegis said as he pushed the door open and gently let it close behind him.

She seemed happy with a smugful grin on her face as they walked down the nighttime clad road. She had decent clothing on so he wasn't worried about her temperature too much, which was a good thing for him and her both. "I hear that you've been doing well at the shop, I hope you're keeping out of trouble." he said as he eyed her with one skeletal eyebrow raised. She nodded while holding onto the neck and collar push out of his armour as they walked. The night was still young, and it would probably still be night time by the time they got back to penumbral guard. As they continued walking through the town, it was mostly in silence. Not for a reason of having nothing to talk about, but they seemed glad just to be with each other again. At the same time, he was thinking about how to go about doing a test for the current hypothesis.

The test for that he had regarding the place both he and Tomoe visited. It was a bit hard to describe it to even the others, not even including Rashida as she was still young, and she wasn't able to fully grasp it yet. She was a smart child, but still a bit too young for this type of scientific and magical endeavour.  The actual walkthrough town was pretty uneventful, as the streets were still pretty bare, once again to Aegis' surprise considering how many people they had an influx in the last few weeks come in to the city.  It was a bit unsettling to be sure.

"I apologize that I'm so focussed on the research right now. I didn't intend for you to stay there that long by yourself." but to this she just looked up at him and smiled. "It's alright. Really! I know you were busy. Plus, I was able to help out Mr. Kurth a lot.". She puts a finger to her chin while thinking, "And not to mention I get to meet a lot of nice people that come into the shop. There are always a few rude people but not too many, and he helps me out with them.". "I am happy to hear that. I worry about you when I have to be vacant for that long.".

The streets were quiet, other than the sound of armour from his chest, only a horse and wagon could be heard trotting and rolling through the streets every now and again. The temperature was still nice, and the clouds were almost non-existent, allowing beans of moonlight to shine down on the relatively peaceful city that they lived near to. Soon they were near the outside the city, walking out through the large gated wall that surrounded the town.

Rashida always looked up as they walked underneath it, unsure whether to be awestruck at the size of it, or worried that the Gatehouse might let loose and the iron might fall. Not once had it ever fallen down, and it was irrational to think it would, but it did not stop her from thinking so.

Once they fully got out of the town, it was back to the calm and peaceful dirt road, along which winding path would lead them back home to penumbra guard. Thanks to the moon's light, and the lack of clouds clotting the sky, one could see far in the distance. Outside of Marigold self was pretty flat land, mostly surrounded by sparsely placed trees, but once they got closer to the guild hall, it changes to a much more mountainous region. Flat land becomes rolling hills, then escalating slowly into smoothed but jutting formations. Much of the mountains in the area for some reason appeared almost eroded, yet there was no history of something that tall being underwater in the region. It didn't make for a very pleasant visual experience once snowfall occurred however.

It was a very weird feeling to have dirt between your toes normally, but even more so for a lich. The added weight of a child and her belongings didn't really bother him too much, which one would assume it would have an impact. Sensations were very strange for him nowadays, such as the time passing in the library, not needing to sleep, or not needing to consume sustenance for any point time. Everything seemed normal, but still alien almost. One thing he was glad about however, was finding Rashida admits the horrifying endeavor that was the attacks and the repair there after. Who know what would have happened if he hadn't find her there and then.

"Together, we will arise with the morning light."

It was a thought he didn't want to pursue, as it was one of the few ways his spirit got dampened.

As they pressed on, minutes turned into hours. She was surprisingly still awake and had a decent amount of energy compared to what Aegis thought she would have. In that time mark, the Flatland had already begun to turn into the rolling hills. On their way through this region, she had made it her most important task of pointing out any and all animals that they had passed. Some were weird sheep like creatures, the head of which had rolling horns, but surrounded by way too much fluff, and it made them look like cotton balls rolling around down the Hills.

Other creatures that were spotted were less adorable, and they took care to stick to the path just in case there were any monsters nearby. Not that Aegis or Rashida couldn't handle them, but it would be a lot harder to fight with a small person on his shoulder, especially if it was versus a group of them. However, I did not prove to be the case, as their walk was not disturbed by anything. A few times a merchant past them on the road, and they waved to them in passing. A few even stops to show ware's, at one of which Rashida even bought some food to snack on for the remainder of the way home, as they still had a few hours ahead of them.

"So what are you going to do now?" She asked him while looking up at him with her head tilted questioningly. "What do you mean by that?". "Well you did your research and reading at the library right? I know it was obviously for something. So what are you going to do with it? What are you doing?".

"Together, we will arise with the morning light."

He laughed whole heartedly, not at her, but at all of her questions being thrown at him at once. "Honestly, i'm not entirely sure yet. While the information at the library was insightful, it didn't answer all of my questions. It even added new ones, but it also got rid of a lot of unknown factors so I am pleased about that." "That still doesn't answer my question..." she said while doing a small pout. "I am sorry, i'm not trying to force cryptisity on the subject, I just don't have an answer yet at this time." he looked over to her on his shoulder. "But have no fear, you will be the first to know once I find the answer."

Do this response she seemed pleased with herself, and he was happy with this result. Currently his main goal other than the prosperity of his guild, protection of his friends, and the cleaning up of the region, was to make sure she was happy. It often felt not just to them but others that has observed them that they were almost opposites, almost in the best way.

As the continued walking further, getting closer towards penumbral guard, the mountains had started to appear on the horizon.
"I am getting a little bit tired, can I sleep in the bundle again like last time?" she asked him while covering a large yawn. "Absolutely, let's just stop for a moment while we secure it.". Now safely on the side of the road, Aegis begin unfurling the bottom part of the cape. After a few minutes of wrapping, it looks like a small cocoon that was attached to his back. As he stood back up, he placed her gently inside, making sure she was secure inside so she wouldn't fall while they were walking.

She just looked forward towards him as he looked back at her, and she gave him a big thumbs-up and a smile, as she turned back around and laid her head down, resting. It didn't take very long at all before she fell asleep, obviously tired from not just the work in town, but there long walk this evening. The mountains were a little colder than the air in marigold, but it didn't seem to bother her too much because she was currently wearing an extra layer which was his cloak wrapped in multitudes of layers.

Through the mountains, he enjoyed the sights and the air. What he saw, and what he smelled, we're small things that he enjoyed while walking alone on the mountain paths, but not even restricted to this place. It was a thing he did and noticed often, whether it be near the sea, or in a forest with clean oxygenated air.

After a few hours longer of walking, they came up to the downward march towards Penumbral Guards guild hall. Coming down the Mountainside wasn't too difficult a task, but it did require attention to where your feet were placed as the inclines could be pretty steep in some places if you weren't watching where you were stepping. As he was walking, he took in the sights of the guild. It took him quite a while to get it ready and to a public state. Enchanted crystals we're in bedded around the towers, causing a faint cyan glow to be emitted over the area below and surrounding the guild hall. Upon getting to the bottom of the hill, there was a large patch of flat land that surrounded the guild building itself, before getting to the bridge leading into the main entrance, where his home began.

The bridge itself was sturdy, made out of the solid mountains rock itself, enchanted to give it extra strength like the rest of the building. Bones and metal quietly clattered slightly as the walking surface turn from a dirt path to solid rock. Upon getting to the entrance, the guards there bowed slightly in salute, and opened up the door for him, attempting to be as quiet as possible as they saw Rashida sleeping, attached via cloak onto him. Once inside, he had the first objective of get getting her into bed to have a decent sleep for the night. The second objective was to head to the archives. As it was nighttime there wasn't much commotion indoors, and most people were either out on quests or jobs, or sleeping soundly. He tried to move as quietly as possible, which to be honest was a bit difficult being a majority of bones covered in metal. He made his way up the half circle stair leading up to the second floor where most of the clanmates slept. After walking down another hallway even further into the Mountainside, he came upon another staircase heading upward. Passing the third floor, then the 4th floor, he finally arrived at his destination of the 5th floor.

He headed down the hallway coming out of the staircase, to one of the many rooms down this way. He opened up her door, and slowly made his way inside. It was no easy task getting her untangled and untied from her current Cocoon of cloak. After a little bit of work, he got her out and placed her gently on the bed, pulling up the covers to cover her. Upon putting Rashida into bed and settling her for the night, he placed her stuff beside her bed. He waved good night as he left her room, as there was much to be done. The first thing he went to was the library in the guildhall itself, and began to research through the archives for any instance of knowledge containing dimensional subjects.
