Hargeon Square is the gathering place of all those in Hargeon, and because of that it catches the attention of all those within the City. The people of Hargeon, though well accustomed to Blue Pegasus, find themselves apprehensive about the idea of a guild taking over their city as a Lord or Lady from the nobility would. Due to that, there are active protests in the square, demanding Blue Pegasus not take their city.

Things had really gotten quite messy over the past few months hadn't they...? You'd think sealing off the gates to heaven and hell would prove to be a universal boon to commonfolk not only in Fiore, but all around the word, but nothing ever turned out quite as straightforward as it may seem at first glance. The power of the heavens had shrunk both literally and metaphorically, as the government's own sphere of influence contracted down to the center of Fiore, leaving Guilds to manage their own domains like Feudal Lords... Alisa had seized the reigns of Blue Pegasus, but now she suddenly found herself as the potential future Lady of Hargeon, not unlike the nobles of old. She had no interest in that mantle but... As she strolled around the streets with a smile on her face, admiring the bright blue, sunlit skies as the rainy, chill days of winter were slowly griving way to the vibrant, verdant hues of spring... She knew this city was where she belonged, just like the rest of her guild:

"Doesn't seem like a consensual opinion, however...", she thought to herself, as the clamouring of the crowd at the center of Hargeon square finally reach

"Get out, Blue Pegasus!!"

"You don't own Hargeon!!!"

She supposed not being called out by name could be seen as a modicum of respect, but Alisa still still sighed... Her Guild was a family after all, so she could be called a patriot in that sense. Surprising how Hargeon's decades-long love for their comparatively peaceful guild Blue Pegasus, all of their pride for hosting it, seemingly went out the window overnight, the moment they realized the Guild itself would be collecting their taxes.

"Human nature huh...?", mused the sculptress, cooly passing by the crowd without a care in the world. She had attained a fair measure of respect and reverence as a mage, more than enough for people to know she was by far the worst person to channel all of their frustrations onto.

The protesters took far greater care to avoid annoying her than they would would anybody else, and Alisa return the favor by not walking up and calling them out on it. The people were scared and angry, they wouldn't listen to reason no matter how much she argued. Her words would fall on deaf ears, and she had no intention to intimidate them into submission. If the guild could continue to make a home in Hargeon, that decision ultimately came down to the people of Hargeon. The people will make it's own choices in the end, and lest one turn to more oppressive means, there is nothing to do but accept it and try to steer them in the right direction:

"C'est la vie..."

Alisa didn't let that get under her skin, after all, she'd left the guild hall with a very clear goal in mind. In the past few days she'd been focusing a significant deal of her time to reinventing and redecorating the old Guild Hall. Indeed Blue Pegasus was a comparatively modern guild who adapted and changed with the times, but ironically, since it had been so for many years, that forward thinking mindset had now become something that people had known all their lives, grown used to... At an era so aptly dubbed "The great change" the people all too easily dismissed anything they'd grown used to seeing... And it would take more than a renewed leadership to change their minds:

"No... The guild needs to look the part too.", In politics, things are as they seem. As much as Alisa may dislike that very notion, she was now forced to play the role of a politician as her guild was entrusted with ruling over the very land they found home. A troublesome business really, and not in any way the kind of task she imagind herself doing when she first enlisted into a Mage's guild... But somebody had to do it and she'd most certainly not shy away from the task laid upon her lap.

Well, she could reason it however she wanted, but in the end, Alisa was doing little more than redecorating, casually strolling around the art shops around Hargeon Square, wondering if anything might strike her fancy... In the end, no particular shop got to claim such a feat, and instead, the laurels went to one lone looking paintor, busily managing his stall, trying to appease whatever hopeful buyers came his way in the hopes of perhaps finding himself a wealthy looking patron.

Whoever thinks artists have it easy clearly never saw a young painter, with no name or sponsor behind him, or even a secondary occupation outside of selling his own pieces, just to make what he could to scrape by. She'd visited his stall before, and those of many other hopeful artists like himself, purchasing pieces she could decorate the guild hall with, saving her favorites to decorate her own study and room. She encouraged her guild members to do the same too, but progress had hardly been anything but swift... With so much room in the guild hall and so many beautiful pieces to choose from... Alisa could afford to be picky, after all, making sure to represent as wide a variety of art and artforms as she possibly could. She'd come to know this lone painter, and though they weren't exactly close, she could recognize when somebody was, well... Wary of her:

"Araaa, Lucci? Is everything alright with you...?", inquired the sculptress, hardly beating around the bush, brow raising as her gaze washed over the lanky, dishevelled, yet not particularly displeasing painter, watching him all but shiver, tensing as she inquired it.

"Y-Yes...!! Everything's perfect Miss Vollan, w-why do you ask?"

Alisa narrowed her eyes, sliding her hand over the elaborate frame on one of his paintings, heels clacking over the cobblestones as she walked over to him. She didn't really know what happened with the young man as he averted his gaze from her...

But she could hazard a couple of guesses, folding her arms under her generous bosom as she pointed out:

"If you're worried about joining those protests, I'm not really bothered by that...?"

Mind you, Alisa didn't exactly know for sure, but it wasn't too farfetched a deduction now, was it. She'd known this man for a while, and he'd never seemed afraid of her even a single time. She'd never shown him any kind of hostility in any way, why would she? She wasn't that heated a buyer in any way, or really a heated person at all... And coincidentally, right around the time when the protests begin he's suddenly ware of someone who also happened to be quite a good customer:

"W-Wha, I-I haven't... I didn't...!!", that reaction said as much, and while Alisa certainly didn't like being lied to, she could on some level understand the man's flustered wariness. That said, her eyes still narrowed at the reaction. Alisa had been right on the money, but she took no pleasure in finding out that not only finding out one of her favorite artists wanted her guild gone, but was also afraid of her, "Fine, you got me...", he sighed, defeated, grumbling as he knew the cat's had finally left the bag, "...What, did you come here so you could force me to stop?"

Despite the obvious fear of making an enemy out of someone like Guild Master of Blue Pegasus, the man held true to his belief, eyes narrowing as he looked back resolutely into her ruby red eyes. Well, that was quite the impressive resolve, far more so than any amount of magical power he could have had, hiding, just waiting for the right moment to spring it on her. The sculptress herself looked wholly undeterred as she all but measured the man's determination, until finally:

"My word Lucci, that's quite the awful impression you have of me, isn't it~...? I'm hurt."

Raising a hand over her mouth as a low, disarming chuckle escaped her lips, Alisa seemed utterly nonchalant by the very notion as she waved her hand dismissively in front of her, almost baffled by the very notion of walking around to intimidate protesters one by one. Really when did that ever solve the root cause of a problem? Sure, violence could potentially mask the symptoms, but only for a little while. Waving the big stick around might work, but turning it on one's own citizens never did any leader any good:

"I won't do anything to you just because of our different views.", flashing him a cool, yet bright, utterly disarming smile, the cool, upfront sculptress bluntly shared her views, brushing her long hair behind her shoulder as she explained, "...If every single person agreed on every single subject, if none dared to voice their differences and talk about them... What kind of boring world would this be, hmm~?"

The man's eyes widened, seemingly calmed by her cool, non threatening posture and speech, and yet, he seemed undeterred in his own views, and to his credit, made it crystal clear right away:

"I won't stop joining the protests if that's what you're hoping for Ms Vollan.", he added, eyes narrowing, as if holding on to his beliefs despite the woman's words, despite that charming visage standing before him and reassuring him it was alright. His cheeks reddened slightly as the sculptress merely rose an eyebrow, brushing a loose lock behind her ear, "Life is hard enough without you people in Blue Pegasus slipping your hands in our pockets."

Alas, Alisa had no intention to play that game with him, nor would she play any game at all really, that was she wasn't planning to repeat on each and every other protester, most of whom whose names she didn't even know, nor would likely recognize them if they walked past her on the street right then.

No, this was a deeper, far reaching problem, trasversal to each and every layer of society, from the poorest to the wealthiest, from the law abiding citizens to the criminals. Nobody likes paying taxes, not even those who collect them:

"...And that is your right. That said, Blue Pegasus isn't going anywhere. We're as much citizens of Hargeon as you, your neighbors, as everybody else around us.", at this point, Alisa crossed her arms, eyes narrowing as she too made her own resolve clear as day for anybody to see. She was willing to compromise wherever they felt the need to, but her presence in the city was non negotiable. And if the guild was to take charge of the city as the only magic guild available to do so, as the only one who could understand and fight for the interests of Hargeon on a national level, then, well... Such efforts cost money, and the guild itself could not be expected to keep the whole town running with only it's own treasury. Taxes were an unavoidable fact of life, regardless of whoever felt the need to collect them. What she could do as manage them properly, and contribute to the town's economy in every way she could. That said... She hadn't come to the Square to talk politics, and even if she had, she certainly wouldn't have sought out the stall of one of her favorite artists to do so. And thus, as that cool, nonchalant smile soon returned to her lips, the sculptress hoisted a painting which caught her eye earlier, "Now, unless your principles forbid you from selling paintings to us, I do have my eye on a handful of pieces here. Now this... This painting is quite beautiful. And judging by the brushstrokes... Must be quite a recent one too, hm~...?"

To his credit, he too didn't let that get an ideological difference the way of his business. Alisa had known this young man for a while now, though not nearly enough to actually have any semblance of a notion of what hardships he faced in his private life, what what manner of struggles he went through in his daily life. They never had that kind of relationship... For a shallow, at times even superficial woman like Alisa, merely enjoying his art was more than enough for her, and she didn't show too much interest in anything else. He told her all about that new painting, and she could see the glimmer in his eyes as he discussed his work, if anything, more than enough to understand the frustration an artist like himself might feel as he realized his work just didn't provide for even his most basic needs. And that was the city's fault, the state's fault, not his... And now that Blue Pegasus had become the de facto rulers of Hargeon... It was their fault too. In that sense, she could absolutely understand his frustrations, and as she looked back towards the protesters, now carrying the neatly wrapped up panting in her arms, she couldn't help but raise an eyebrow:

"I wonder... How many of you are just like him...", indeed, though there might be people who'd never want for anything and still have it out for whoever collected the taxes, those holding signs seemed less like those affluent few and more like the humble many. Artists, fishermen, grocers... Alisa knew she couldn't address each and every one of their concerns at once.

If her guild was to have a peaceful hold over Hargeon, this was a problem she'd need to address sooner rather than later. Blue Pegasus had been the city for years, decades, centuries even.

It was an old guild, and for many, it had become not unlike the paintings Alisa saw hanging across the guild hall, at one point a symbol of pride of her guild, now reduced to little more than mere decoration. As she hung up her freshly purchased painting, the sculptress looked out the window and sighed. Just how long had Blue Pegasus been a patron of the arts in Hargeon...? Did the people even remember it? Did they know about it? Really, she hadn't seen many visitors around, which was rather striking for a guild that once seemed utterly bustling with activity.

"Have they forgotten...?", mused the sculptress as she glanced towards the myriad artworks proudly on display, attentively marked with the name and date where the artist poured his soul into their new creation, many of whom with a fitting description, just a simple anecdote, a measure of insight into the mind of brilliant creator who crafted such an exquisite visage for the guild members that followed to longingly admire, to ponder on its bygone creator and what thoughts had crossed their mind at that specific moment...

Indeed, Blue Pegasus had been a patron of the arts ever since it's inception. With such a strong artistic community in Hargeon and so many of them struggling... Clearly, the guild had to be doing something wrong. Once more hearing the crying clamours outside as the crowd neared the Guild Hall this time around, the sculptress sighed once again, glancing outside and finally frowning, leaving her freshly purchased painting crooked, not quite allowing herself the time to place it properly before a whole other drive pulled her outwards. Whismiscal as always, Alisa acted on impulse despite her seemingly patient nature, she could just as easily be prone to rash, spur of the moment decisions, and now...

...She was ready to make yet another one as she walked up to the entrance to her guild hall and cleared the way for the angry protesters, swinging the doors wide open and staring down the frustrated protesters:

"You speak of Blue Pegasus like you know it but... How many of you have actually set foot in the guild Hall before?", she declared, her hand resting on the doorknob as she tilted her head slightly, folding one arm under her chest, cupping her chin for a brief moment as she all but mused on her own questuon as she stood between the protesters and her beloved guild... She didn't look the slightest bit intimidated by the sheer number of people staring her down, and yet... Her words made all those eyes widen, "If you'd like to see for yourselves... The door is wide open."

With these words, she took a step back, pointing her thumb towards the guild hall she'd only just exited from, hand on her hip, laying out an open invitation to each and every one of the citizens present to have a look inside the guild they'd been protesting against for days now:

"Oi oi... Is she messing with us...?", one spoke up as they chattered amongst themselves, all but seeing some form of provocation in the sculptress' cool, confident words, devoid of even the slightest concern for the integrity of her guild hall.

"No way, is this a trap or something...?"

"Oh, that cocky little...!!"

Letting an angry mob inside her beloved guild posed a serious risk to its integrity in one way or another, to the point where even her efforts to prevent the aggravated citizens from trashing the place could only make the situation worse. Alisa went all in on a single bet, and as she took a deep breath and lead the crowd inside.

Truly, Alisa hated crowds, as evidenced by the insistent twitching of her eyebrow and her unyielding urge to make them disperse in one way or another... But if doing this allowed the citizens of Hargeon to understand their guild only a little bit better, well... Then it was worth burying those urges if only for a little while. In the end, the protesters all but unanimously settled on a believing the Guild Master had to be provoking them, taunting them:

"C'mon, let's show her who they're messing with...!!", called out one lone rabblerouser as Alisa lead the way, until the sculptress could only roll her eyes... Much easier to be brave with a whole mob watching your back isn't it?

And she didn't need to wait long... The moment the protesters strode inside the Guild hall, one of the rowdier members wasted to time, turning a signpost into a melee weapon as he swung it at the first vase he found, until the sculptress could only wince at the sight of the potted plant completely ruined, until the table where it rested upon soon followed.

"How messy...", she shook her head, brow twitching, hand on her hips as the crowd grew agrier with every act of vandalism against the object of their frustrations. More and more innocent items of furniture met the same fate or worse, but Alisa could swallow that toad so long as the damage consigned itself to furniture. The guild needed redecorating anyway, right...?

If this went on for much longer, they'd end up just like Fairy Tail, with the guild hall trashed every other day, with plentiful work for Magnolia's builders after a rowdy barfight. Would Alisa have to put a stop to this...? If she had to stop it herself, then she'd have lost this gamble in every way imaginable, only making the people more frustrated at her on top of leaving her guild hall in a state of complete disrepair.

There was but one line Alisa wouldn't permit them to cross, a line she herself hoped even the agriest of protesters, some of them at list, would see and refuse to cross it as well. That was the point she aimed to prove at least, but for a moment, her eyes narrowed as she started to realized she might have been dreadfully wrong. Not satisfied with making a mess of furniture, one angry looking protester eyed the painting proudly displayed on the nearest wall... And Alisa quickly went from merely shaking her head to glaring as she clenched her fist:

"That's enough.", she declared, calmly, but they were far too absorbed to hear warnings even from her.

She'd made a gross miscalculation, in order to clean up one mess created an even bigger one, and cleaning this one up would inevitably result in an even bigger one down the line. But even then, she wouldn't allow them to trash the prized pieces of artwork, in her guild hall or anywhere else. Yet before Alisa could act or even issue another warning, at that moment, a lone voice cried out, piercing through the ruckus:

"No, no, no, stop, STOOOP!!!", cried a familiar voice, drawing Alisa's eyes away curiously, finding the face of her favorite painter as he stepped between the angry citizen and the painting behind him, arms stretched out. He too, just like Alisa, had a line he wouldn't cross, and the sculptress could only smile, "Don't you see what this is... That's a Gianna Lucci original."

Turning away from the crowd and admiring the painting, Lucci approached it, running his hands over the frame, smile widening at the sight of something he never imagined I'd see again:

"H-How... How do you have this...? Most of my grandmother's work was lost in a fire.", he asked, turning his head around, seeking Alisa's own gaze.

Pushing aside her distaste for crowds, Alisa approached the citizens of her city, smiling as she strode over beside the man, taking a moment to admire the painting, depicting a scene from an epic tale of old. The brushstrokes were masterful, hinting at the legendary skill Gianna Lucci honed throughout the course of her life:

"What can I say...", Alisa shrugged, flashing the young man a smile, delighted at that at least someone bothered to look at exactly what they were getting ready to trash, "Master Lance was a big fan. We have plenty more of her paintings spread out across the guild hall."

She was right to trust that even at their rowdiest and most frustrated, the citizens of Hargeon were a well read, cultured and refined people, many of whom with renowned artists somewhere in their family tree. After one of their own recognized a relative's proudly on display, properly inscribed with the author's name and the date of creation, many others soon followed. Alisa had to admit, she felt somewhat surprised... The Guild had been in the city for ages and yet, few people in Hargeon actually knew how much of the city's personality went into the Guild hall:

"I told you, didn't I...? Blue Pegasus is Hargeon, Hargeon is Blue Pegasus. The guild is as much a citizen as you are, as proud of its hometown city as each and every last one of you, of the brilliant artists who made their life's work right here, on this very town... Now tell me...", Alisa narrowed her eyes, her heels clacking over the smooth, marbled tiles of her guild hall, resting a hand over Lucci's shoulder before moving away from him, taking her place before the crowd, addressing each and every last one of the protesters as they marvelled at the many wonders the guild had collected and cultivated over the years, "...Is there anything you wouldn't do for your home?"

Of course, there was naturally a method to Alisa's whimsical, seemingly sudden decisions. She took a big risk in hoping the sight of artwork produced in their very own city would deter their wrath against the guild who had been their faithful patron all this time: With such a vibrant artistic community in Hargeon, one needed only fund them for the artists themselves to live better lives, with more money to look after themselves and their families, and even more for luxury items:

"As most of you forgotten, let me say this again. The Guild Hall of Blue Pegasus is hereby open to the public, no admission fee required. You can think of it as your very own artist's lounge. Actors and musicians have a stage to perform on, with an attentive, adulating audience - a very eager one if I might add, though you'll find no fans more faithful than those wearing our mark~"

This would, in turn, improve the revenues of the various salesmen around the city, and even that of purveyors of luxury good, who would in turn have a far greater financial leeway to invest in, well, art, among other things. The way she saw it, it wasn't really a take over... The Royals' Withdrawn from power offered an opportunity for a Guild born of this city to run it exactly how the city itself expected to run:

"...Painters have our galleries, sculptors have our pedestals, writers have our printers. Whatever medium you need to promote your work, Blue Pegasus can provide, free of charge."

When properly nurtured and regulated, economy can quite easily become a self feeding cycle contributing to the prosperity of everyone in the community... One just needed to know where to invest. And if Alisa could contribute to the welfare of their city by simply being the kind of person who favored beauty in every shape and form, well... All the better for her. And when this resolution finally pleased the frustrated crowd, all but the rowdiest few seemed satisfied by what they heard and at that point... Devoid of any backup, the few extremists among the ordinary citizens could only grumble, not having the nerve to start trouble in a place that clearly mattered as much to the very city they lived in...
