Home| The sun was high in the sky on the beautiful springtime morning, nary a cloud in sight of the magnificent Domus Flau: an arena as old as the capital city itself. Built at the summit of a nearby mountain the Domus had stood idle, only being used for the occasional fight between training mages looking to strengthen their own abilities. Never before has it been used for something as grand as the event today. The Grand Magic Games: a tournament featuring every guild in Fiore. A chance for every guild mage to showcase their abilities, and the strength of their guild. Every seat was occupied, as the public waited for the first fight to begin. The arena itself, a circle of 100 meters diameter with marble flooring, was watched over by four warriors: Hercales, Shaka Zulu, Miyamoto Musashi and Beowulf. Four of the legendary Nine Heroes, each with their glorious weapon immortalised in stone beside them, eager to bare witness to the power of Fiore. Both contestants will be instructed to walk towards the center of the ring, stopping in their tracks once both are an equal distance from the center and 20m apart. The fight will then be started via the sound of a blast from the referee. The voices of the crowd thundered across the battle arena; the Domus Flau was filled to the brim with spectators and not a single seat left unoccupied. Nuala Nazari was shuffling around behind the gates that led into the fighting ground; to say that the woman was nervous about what was to come and who awaited her behind those walls was an understatement. Fights weren’t her speciality – unlike with thievery and assassination, your opponent most likely always knew you were coming, which reduced the chances of landing a surprise attack to pretty much zero. Of course the Voidling had some tricks up her sleeves here and there, but none of that changed the atmosphere of the situation. A rumble went through the earth as the gates opened and Nuala was hushed outside by one of the staff members. The Voidling rose to full height and swiftly marched out into the arena, where she was immediately hit by the deafening sounds of cheers and bright sunlight. The arena itself was shaped like a circle with a 100 m diameter and shiny marble flooring. The Domus Flau was massive and in spite of her usual confidence, Nuala suddenly felt rather small. She hated the idea of fighting for other people’s amusements, especially against mages – but she did what she had to do in order to protect Daeva Eye’s reputation. Nuala walked towards the center and came to a halt approximately 10 meters from it. With her, she carried her two trusty daggers – weapons she had recently acquired and was eager to use – as well as a magically enhanced ring (on her left hand) that she had purchased from a rather questionable vendor at one of Fiore’s many black markets. The Voidling unsheathed her main weapon and held it firmly in her right hand’s grasp. Her opponent hadn’t arrived yet, but once they did she would be ready to pounce.  |

Iris DuPage of Phoenix Feather – a guild she was rather familiar with – decided to simply not show up and while this sort of behavior stirred up some unhappy emotions within the crowd, Nuala couldn’t say that she was mad about it. Perhaps it was for the better, after all the Voidling wasn’t really interested in beating up one of the guild members that stood under Kazimir’s protection. Perhaps the Nephilim would even have a thing or two to say about it later on. Anyhow, not showing up meant that Daeva Eye was given a point without much effort. Nuala heaved a sigh and turned on her heel, slowly walking out of the arena. She would still have to cheer on the other girls during the rest of the week, but couldn’t wait to return home to Dahlia City. Even though the woman had met a lot of people that she now considered friends in Crocus, the memories that occupied her mind weren’t all happy ones. The Rogue placed both her daggers at her side and left Domus Flau shortly after her fight had been canceled; she wanted to spend the rest of the day as far away from this place as possible. |
