Venus had been feeling very content with her most recent purchase; the vampiric eye which had been surgically modified into her eye socket. The woman was quite hesitant of the purchase in the beginning, but her impulsive nature got the best of her and honestly, it was one of her few purchases that she didn’t regret buying. The redhead watched upon her own reflection in the mirror as she brushed the tangles out of her hair and performed a modern side braid – a hairstyle that she’d adopted into her new habits after she’d learned how to style braids.

A solemn look crossed over the features of her face. Her own reflection was still unfamiliar to her, it was as if she just found out that she was a completely different person, which basically happened a few weeks ago, although she found herself adapting into her surroundings as well as her new identity faster than she’d anticipated. Albeit, Venus was still unable to recall her memories and that’d been putting her in the lows and she’d be seen sighing to herself frequently while she let herself lost in her thoughts. Eventually, she would decide to give up remembering everything; she hoped.

Sieghart Mountains – as it name stated – was a very mountainous region, which made it very difficult for her to navigate, considering her awful sense of direction as well, but just for the day, she figured she’d let her body compass guide her through the land and perhaps, there might just be a fortunate encounter lying right ahead. So, she set off on her day wandering over the valleys of the mountains, meandering through the swirls and eddies of people, but eventually decided that she’d travel even further: high up the mountain range to enjoy the view from way up the mountains and discover something unexpected, mayhap.

It was hot.

The winter’s march had long gone and has finally made way for the summer season albeit, it was too hot for comfort, she thought, even for spring, her body driven on sheer will power alone as she spans the bordering mountain range. The sheen of sweat that lined her temple had become even more pronounced as the heat clung tightly to her thick clothes, mimicking how several strands of crimson stuck to the corners of her face in a grubby fashion. They tangled over her slowly reddening complexion insistently, framing her already irate features with the notion of exhaustion reaching her bones.

The woman instantly regretted her decision of exploring the mountain rage and kicked a stray pebble at her feet. While her right eye allowed her see things as usual, the vampiric eye on her left socket enabled her not only to see everything in the dark but as well as those who were bleeding in the surrounding area. It was as if she was looking through an x-ray film, she could see through the objects and materials and at a short distance, there was a faint blur of red that stood out the most. To her, it would mean that someone was bleeding and probably needed some assistance.

Venus found a young man among the bushes as if he was hiding out of sight from something. When the hunter approached, the man flinched; she probably scared him to death with her sudden appearance.

”Well, you clearly need help. What happened?” She spoke bluntly, peering down at the man with her arms folded across her chest.

With the help of her newly attained eye, Venus could immediately tell the wound wasn’t threatening enough to take his life, but it was still a deep injury: deep enough to render his limbs useless.

”There’s a werewolf hunting civilians in my village. I was trying to fend him off to protect everyone, but I got wounded and had to flee. He’s going to kill everyone. Please, I beg of you – save them.”

Venus was clearly not a saint, but she wasn’t a heartless devil either, especially when someone was begging for her with his life – there wasn’t any other choice she had now, did she?

”Alright, I’ll help you. Stay here and don’t move. I’ll come back for you.”

The red-haired mage left her command before proceeding on her way to find the village, which wasn’t as difficult since all she had to do was follow the trail of blood that the wounded man had left along the path of his escape. As she travelled further, more faint blurs came into her vision of her vampiric eye, hinting her that there were more civilians wounded than she’d expected. This werewolf was going on a rampage, she thought as she quickly hurried into the direction of the village.

Her arrival to the destination was greeted by screams of women and children and a one-sided battle of the werewolf against the men of the village. Venus attempted to quickly think of a strategy that’d get divert its attention away from the villagers. The first thing that popped into her mind was to pick up a piece of stray pebble that was lying on the barren floor of soil.

She’d coiled her hand backwards, exerting all her force within the muscles of her arms as she shot out the pebble into the direction of the werewolf, striking him straight in the back of the head. With her strength and force, the pebble could’ve possibly even gone through his skull and destroy its brain but it seemed that the werewolf was a robust creature, although her assault did leave a small patch of blood in his skull. The werewolf roared in fury, finally turning to face her and immediately set the hunter as its target as the animal began lunging towards her without opting to think twice.

”Bad decision, very bad.” She’d advice the creature, as if it would understand her language as she lowered herself and took a stance, her knees slightly bent.

Venus didn’t bring a weapon with her; she didn’t expect she’d be in a battle with anyone, or any living creature for that matter, which was a mistake she had made as a mage. A wizard should always be armed – that’s what she’d tell herself from now on. Her arms were brought up before her, levelling her chest as she waited for the perfect moment to strike. When the werewolf was drawing close between the distance, it’s claws reached for her which she’d duck and his limb would pass right over her head. She’d seize this as an opportunity to counterattack and performed a right hook punch, her fist pummelling into his ribs and with her strength, she’d have broken his bones even as minimal damage.

The animal staggered, retreating away from her before it stumbled and collapsed onto the ground. By the end of the scene, she would see the wounded man she’d met earlier wobbling towards her. ”Tsk, I told you to stay still.” She scolded, quickly grabbing the man and tossing his arm over her shoulder to support his weight.

”I wanted to say thank you before you left.”

”Well, you’ve just said it. Leave now, your wounds need to be treated.”
