Another day, another quest in Dahlia City. It was nearing the end of the month and spring was coming closer every day. Dahlia no longer looked so cold and sad and with the weather slowly changing, so did the general mood of the town. Nuala had gotten quite used to living here by now, even though she was slowly getting bored of the quests being the same over and over again. She couldn’t really say that she minded it that much, since they all usually paid a decent amount of money, but at the same time the Voidling was used to traveling a lot so she was also hoping for a change of scenery soon enough. She had thought about going up to Port Astera soon anyways, but from what she had gathered Kaiser had plans for the guild before she could go and do that.

It’s been a solid month since they had officially conquered these lands and begun to govern Dahlia City and things had gone relatively smoothly. She did feel as though the villagers were giving them more trust now and they often entrusted the members of their guild with taking care of all sorts of problems that came out of the Aldenwald woodlands. Werewolves often and quite frequently attacked these lands and the farmers living outside the borders of the city, but with so many powerful mages around it should be easy enough for them to take care of it. And even no mages like Nuala herself wouldn’t struggle with it. Nuala was once again looking for work again as well so she headed towards the cemetery, where she was meant to meet up with a familiar person. Adarian the Heretic and cult leader of the Red Hades cult had a seemingly endless number of schemes that he needed assistance with and Nuala just so happened to be is happy assistant.

Adarian had very concrete plans about what exactly he wanted done and it didn’t really surprise Nuala when he was waiting for her in the dark. “What’s the matter this time around, Adarian,” she said to him as she approached him. He did look creepy, but he didn’t scare her. The Voidling knew about his necromancy and all the messed up things he could do with it however and thus she always kept herself on high alert while around him. “I come to you with a similar issue as before,” he began talking to her and explain his situation. Apparently yet another cultist of his had gone rogue, except this one had been a spy the whole time. Adarian explained how one of his cultists was apparently some sort of double agent for Santos, the Bishop of the guild and his arch enemy. “We have to send a message to Santos, I can’t let him walk all over me like that.”

Nuala was pretty understanding of his situation and thus she agreed to help. Payment was of course involved and he wasn’t shy to spend his seemingly endless amounts of jewels on her jobs. Nuala did wonder where he got all that money from considering that he didn’t really have a job himself, but she decided not to ask anything about that. More often than not it was the rich people that were the crazy ones after all. “Follow me please. I have already captured the traitor myself this time and I need you to do the rest.” He then led Nuala cross the cemetery and the Voidling cautiously followed along. He brought her to an old shack and within that shack there was the man. Chained up and beaten to the wall. It was quite tasteless in her opinion, to show him off like that, but what else could she expect from literal members of a cult.

There were also two other cultists present and Nuala found the torture instruments they had in their hands quite gruesome. She didn’t intervene however since this wasn’t directly any of your business. After all if you went into a cult to spy on them, knowing all the sorts of messed up things that they were capable of then you kind of had it coming for yourself. “What exactly is your plan with him now? I assume you tried to get lots of information out of him?” Adarian then explained his fucked up plan. He wanted Nuala to drag the man to the cemetery, dig a hole to bury him in and make sure it was shallow enough so his screams could be heard but deep enough so he couldn’t escape. Nuala wasn’t a professional but she figured that wasn’t how being buried alive worked – but it wasn’t her problem. She simply nodded and began dragging the poor guy along.

Nuala didn’t want to hear him whining and his whimpers so she gagged him until she had found a suitable spot for her deed. Digging the actual grave was honestly hard labour and probably the main reason as to why she had been requested. All the necromancers of his cult were either super old or skinny and weak so doing this was probably way too much work for them, while simultaneously keeping the captured person contained. It was easy for Nuala because she was strong and he was already pretty wounded. Digging the damn grave took a while but once she was done she threw him inside and began closing it up.

She made sure to do it so that he was staying alive so his head had to poke out a bit. She guessed the good news would be that at least he wouldn’t die if he could make it through the night and until morning. The intention was so that the villagers and bishop Santos could hear his screams and basically take this as a message from the Red Hades cult. Once the job was done Nuala only had to return to Adarian, who was pleased with her work. He paid her well and also noted that there would most certainly be more work for her to do soon, which Nuala gladly accepted.
