The past few days had been rather interesting for Nuala; the Voidling had spent some time walking through the streets of Dahlia City – which had become her new home in the past year and turned out to be a rather peculiar place. Dahlia was located in the east of Fiore, but the country itself seemed to have abandoned the city as it stood for everything they disliked and were unable to control. Or at least she was assuming that much and since Nuala wasn’t actually involved in the politics of the country that she was currently residing in, she didn’t exactly care either. To be frank, she was surprised that she had spent so much time here in the first place, but Fiore wasn’t a bad place to live. There were many wizards here (too many for her liking, but magic was strong in this part of the world so there was nothing she could do about it) and the majority of them held power as well.

It was honestly quite different from what she remembered from her homeland of Savannah, but then again her memory of said country was somewhere far in the back of her mind anyways and she had almost forgotten about it (or so she thought). Dahlia was special however and even though it had taken a long time for her to get to this point, Nuala had to admit that she was kind of starting to like it. It was quite grim and almost spooky, no matter the time of the year. Considering that she wasn’t human, but a Voidling – a creature that had climbed out of the abyss many decades ago – she figured she would fit right into the bunch. A lot of people were going missing in Dahlia, because vampires and werewolves lived within the nearby forests.

They would often visit the city to prey on humankind, but somehow the population never seemed to decrease. In fact, there were always people present that were struggling, complaining about the large number of monsters that had easy access to the town and its people and what not. Farmers were struggling to keep the werewolves (and normal wolves) away from their livestock as well, so all together it was just one big mess. Daeva Eye was still being properly established an therefore Nuala didn’t quite have access to the whole situation yet – but she was working on it. The previous days had been rather interesting, as she had made an acquaintance, if you could call it that, with a rather unusual individual. Alistar was his name and he was in fact a vampire. Now, Nuala had met a bunch of those before and what set this one apart was that he, unlike the others she had met, wasn’t dangerous at all. If anything, he was the opposite of dangerous and she found that to be quite unusual. He chose to drink animal blood, instead of human blood, because he was turned against his will and didn’t want to be evil. While she found that goal to be quite noble, she couldn’t help but think that his lifestyle choices made little to no sense. He was what he was now and if he wasn’t willing to accept that then he was only going to give himself a bad time for no actual reason. Alistair had hired Nuala to assist him with many things. Apparently, even though he didn’t want to be a vampire, he still wanted to be strong like one. He had explained that other vampires weren’t very accepting of him - whatever that meant. Because of that, he was looking for more power without having to use human blood.

Nuala didn’t quite understand why he wanted the power, but perhaps it was just in his best interest – he wanted to survive, and she figured that with all this effort put into his cause, he sort of deserved to. Two days ago, he had hired Nuala to run some errands for him. Those errands had been to acquire certain materials for him that he could then use to perform a ritual. It was something that she had never heard of before, but Nuala would be lying if she had she wasn’t intrigued and curious by it. Still, the items she had to retrieve for him had been rather difficult to find and as a result he had to pay her a little bit more than the usual rate. But then again, he had already given her money during their first meeting for absolute no reason whatsoever, so she didn’t exactly seem to mind it. The first item she had to get for him was a werewolf claw. Now, Nuala was a master thief so stealing things wasn’t a problem for her. It was basically what she did for a living anyways, so nothing unusual here. The problem was that she mostly worked for humans and stole from humans and stealing from races that weren’t human proved to be a much more difficult task. They had special abilities that would assist them in finding her out and werewolves were especially tricky. They had excellent hearing and smelling and because of that, Nuala had to basically roll in the mud for a bit to get the scent off of her before entering the werewolf’s den. The fact that they always traveled in packs didn’t really help either to be honest. Luckily, Nuala was skilled enough to make no sounds while she moved around, so those were two senses out of the way.

Lastly, she figured that the werewolves also had decent eyesight but Nuala could simply become invisibly if she wanted to, so that was also no longer a problem. But of course the claw hadn’t been the only thing that she needed to retrieve and so she had to move on to get a vampire’s fang. For some reason, that day she learned that vampires lost their teeth quite frequently but they would always grow back rather quickly - almost like a shark. That was quite the creepy fact, but it was also incredibly useful because now all she had to do was wait for a vampire to leave their lair before she could sneak in and search around for a fang. Of course she could simply become invisibly again, but she knew from interacting with vampires that they had excellent eyesight – magical eyesight to be exact, and it assisted them in in seeing through disguise spells and whatnot. This obviously proved to be a problem for Nuala so she simply waited until the vampire had left his lair. He kept all of his lost teeth in a little box, which she found to be rather odd but rather than questioning it she quickly grabbed one and left. The second one had been similar on level of difficulty. She needed the blood of a demon. She knew a place where to get it, where it was stored away in a little potion bottle so after getting that last ingredient, Nuala finally had everything together. It didn’t take her as long as she thought it would, but instead of continuing with the whole ordeal, Alistair said that he needed time and that they should meet again in two or three days. He did pay her handsomely so she decided not to ask any further questions.

When it was finally time to meet with Alistair, it was because the vampire had found a forest clearing where he wanted the ritual to take place. Nuala never felt good about having to enter Aldenwald, even less in the middle of the night and by herself, but this one couldn’t really be helped so she decided to simply get it over with. Alistair seemed to be pretty pleased with the place he had found as well. They walked to the clearing together, where there was a cauldron of boiling water (and probably some other weird substances). The vampire threw the ingredients she had brought for him inside and they watched as the liquid changed, slowly changing colour many times before turning pitch black and thick at last. “Drinking this will restore my power at last,” the vampire mumbled to himself and Nuala couldn’t help but shake her head. “I doubt that drinking that stuff would be a good idea, but you do you.” He picked up a goblet that, upon further investigation, turned out to be made from Lich bones and filled it with the liquid. At this point Nuala was seriously wondering how he came to acquire such an item, but dismissed it for now, since he had taken the first sip from the drink. He seemed to turn human again, which honestly shocked Nuala as she hadn’t expected things to work out that well, but after a short struggle with himself the transformation reversed itself and she could see him turning mad almost immediately. Nuala had seen black magic before and knew that it wasn’t good, so before he could catch her off guard she threw herself onto him and swiftly broke his neck. In result to that, Alistair’s body turned to ash and she was able to loot money off of his body, among other things.
