It was late at night. A blue haired figure hummed a cheerful song with both hands on his pockets. It was already quiet and late, so only few people still walked through the streets. ”Mhm..Hmm hmhmm...” Kenzo had the song stuck on his mind through the whole day. A band was rehearsing at Batra’s inn while he ate the morning’s breakfast. Apparently, they’d be playing live for an event tonight. Either way, the mercenary walked back to spend the night at the inn again.

”G-Good EVEening… GO- at your service. Pl-Please, coming. Great -hello . Requiring assistance….” ”What the?” Kenzo had learned that the magic concentration in Fiore made for some bizarre personalities, but this was just too much. A rune knight, 2 meters tall talked to himself in short bursts of nonsense. Furthermore, the full body red armor was scratched as the man bumped repeatedly with a wall, amidst yet another round of incoherent mumbling. Intrigued, Kenzo walked closer to it. The red guy was unphased by the mercenary’s presence, limiting himself to once again crash with a wall, fall back a couple of steps, mutter an incomprehensible sentence, twitch and repeat again. ”This guy is definitely tripping. Must have taken something real strong.” With a chuckle, Kenzo thought to himself that the guy must be really ballsy to do it in the middle of his guarding duty. Perhaps pushed by this sentiment of intrigue, the man approached the red knight. ”You okay pal?”

Hearing his words, the armored knight stopped in its tracks and eerily turned its head with difficulties. It looked like a rusty door knob being turned as the old metal screeched and got stuck along the way. ”Lady … Merlin. Lady – Merlin… lady—mer..lin.” A monotonous, lifeless voice came out of the armor. Paying closer attention, Kenzo noticed that he was no human. Rather, a special type of construct. He had heard from locals about a manmade being that protected the streets day and night. It seemed that Kenzo had coincidentally found it malfunctioning. ”Is Merlin the great sorceress? Advisor to the King? Silence filled the air for a moment. The question was rather a thought out loud, he didn’t expect the armor to ans- ”Y-Yes ….” A smile painted Kenzo’s lips as he heard the homunculus answer.

”I’m sure she’ll pay me handsomely if I take this thing back to her.” With this thought in mind, Kenzo tied a rope to the armor’s hip and directed it to the castle. He was had planned on meeting the powerful wizard sometime either way. What better opportunity to do so than this?

From what he knew, most of the king’s advisors and family had property in crown grounds. Merlin definitely was bound to be there herself too. With that in mind, Kenzo led the red armor to the huge central building of Crocus. From every corner of the city, a magnificent building towered the skies. Mercurius. The king’s castle was truly a sight to see. Even if the mercenary had never gone to the castle before, it was easy to know the way. However, the trip was harder than what he ever expected. As he led the defective homunculi, the red armor was less than complying. Taking turns were the way was straight, falling to the ground, getting stuck with beams, etc… The list went on and on. Little by little, Kenzo was starting to lose his patience. After playing a thug of war with the thing for a tenth time in a row, he exploded. ”GOD DAMNIT!! How stupid can you be? Let’s get over with it, I’m taking you to your mistress.”

Struggling, little by little they made their way to the castle. As the gates of the palace came to sight, two guards approached Kenzo and rose their voices. ”Stop! Where are you going?” Pulling the rope a bit forward, the mercenary signaled Abbadon without saying a word. Instantly, the guards recognized the armor and let Kenzo come inside. ”Please follow us, we’ve been looking for it ever since it missed its regular reports a couple of hours ago. We’ll take you to lady Merlin’s grounds.”

After a short walk, a huge building came into sight. ”This is lady Merlin’s place, she has already been informed about the situation and is expecting you.” Saluting, the guard that guided Kenzo turned around and returned once more to the gate. Kenzo simply escorted the armor to the building and knocked on the door. Not even a second had passed, when the door instantly opened and a woman with an enormous magical presence greeted the blue haired man. ”Welcome dear, thank you for finding this troublesome watcher. Please, come in.”

After entering what looked like a lab, the sorceress could immediately tell what was wrong with Abbadon. Without wasting time, she began preparing a potion. Hundreds of flasks, liquids and ingredients littered the large laboratory. Using her magical powers, she was able to manipulate and mix substances without even touching them. Instead, it appeared she directed an orchestra of flying chemicals. ”Please secure him in that chair. I’ll be done in a minute.” Motioning her head to a wooden chair at the far end of the laboratory, Kenzo sat the armor in it and secured both arms and legs with the straps that were connected to it. In his mind, he was slightly terrified. It looked like one of the torture devices he had seen at the corrupt mansion’s dungeon some nights before.

Noticing he was done, Merlin motioned towards the man. ”Could you be a dear and help me to take out two black truffles from that bottle? Mix them over with this liquid over here.” Kenzo shook his mind away from distracting thoughts and smiled at her. ”Sure.” After a couple of minutes, the fixing potion was now done. Kenzo was not sure what in the hell the blue-ish substance was supposed to do. But she was the expert of course. ”Help me hold him down, we need to make sure he drinks every last bit of it.”

Placing both of his hands in the armor’s shoulders, he nodded at Merlin before she poured the potion down his throat. Instantly, the homunculi began shaking uncontrollably. The sight was if someone had poured liquid metal inside a person’s esophagus. However, as soon as the twitching came, it also stopped. Sighing, the armor turned at Kenzo and spoke in a noticeably different manner. ”Thank you very much. Sorry for my previous behavior.”

”No problem.” As he untied the armor, lady Merlin turned around and suddenly summoned a dimensional portal. Sticking her hand inside, she brought out a bag full of jewels. ”This is for you. Thank you once again for finding this troublesome thing. Please do come back to visit. You seem like a rather interesting test subject.” Merlin placed the jewel bag in Kenzo’s hand and caressed his peculiar jawbone in his cheek. The sorceress’s words carried a playful, sinister undertone. Kenzo limited to laugh a bit. ”Sure thing. Maybe you could sometime help me get rid of these”
