Unlike the others, this one small rift next to the river was a peculiar one. The tear flickered and pulsated for a long time, but would not open until it sensed the presence of the two Red Hades members. When they are in vicinity, the rift will burst open suddenly, paving way for three humanoid Demons, the tallest one wielding a huge greatsword and the other two on his side, sporting hellish burning staves. When the sword-wielding demon’s eyes meet with the daemon, his eyes would flare with deep hatred—one that was even greater than what he harboured against the mortals. It would seem the demon saw the daemons as mortals’ mockery of their superior kind. To him, killing the daemon would probably give more satisfaction than murdering a crowd of humans. With his two demon allies supporting him, he would charge ahead in an attempt to strike down the daemon and his ally, giving them no choice but to fight. If they defeat him, the rift will close, whether they want it or not.

Caius
Happily humming to himself, Caius continued down the forest path carrying a 'payload' that needed to be dropped off in a river. He was just coming off a mission with his guild mate Ianthe. It involved a negotiation over the distribution of heroin in Orchida Town with the local gang leader. They both put up good arguments but in end there wasn't a compromise. So naturally a violent battle broke out between the two of them. The gang leader was surprisingly strong so Caius wasn't able to hold back. His magic was exhausted so void magic was off the table until he got some rest. But the good news was the gang leader was dead and was about to go for a swim. Victory for Red Hades.

Once they both arrived at the river, Caius would say some final heartfelt words for the deceased. "Time to flush this turd down the drain." He then threw the body in the river. The current quickly flushed the body downstream in a matter of seconds. Caius turned over to Ianthe. "Well we did Mocha! Another city down. At this rate I'll be kingpin in no time. Let's go get some drinks!" His celebration would be short lived as a shrieking noise would start to echo throughout the area. It was like nails on a chalkboard. Covering his ears, he turned around to see a greenish, fiery circle start to appear. At first it was small, about the size of a golf ball. However, it kept expanding and expanding until it reached the size of a town gate. Three demons would step through the gate about 10 meters away from them. The one in the middle wielded a great sword while the two others had flame staves. They stared the two members down with pure hatred in their eyes.

Caius was excited!  When he was taken into Red Hades, he had been told demons would seek him out. It seems it was his time. He waved his hand at the three demons in front of him and spoke in their tongue. Abyssian: "What's up my demon brothers! What can this Daemon do for you" He expected a favorable response after speaking their language but it was just the opposite. The demon in the center had it's eyes turn bloodshot in rage. It let out a wail and brought it's sword up in the air. Quickly it rushed forward at the two of them with his two other lackeys not far behind. Caius didn't have much in the tank so he would have to improvise. Calling upon his demon half, his eyes turned black and started to glow like a dark star. His body started to pulse with energy, rejuvenating his body and strengthening it with the power of the abyss. It was time for battle. "Mocha you're up. Take the one with the sword. I got the other two"

Ianthe
Ianthe followed closely behind Caius, watching as he threw the dead body of an unfortunate now ex-gang leader into the river. If the dead man weren't so stupid when he was alive then maybe he could have avoided his demise. Ianthe ultimately did not care enough though, she knew he probably wouldn't be missed anyway and they just did the world a little favor in getting rid of him. Once the deed the was done talk of drinks caused her to perk up, she could remember the last drink they had and she made it plan to have every drink with him end like that.  Opening her mouth to respond something cut her off, a loud shrieking sound that quickly brought her hands to her ears. In the next few moments a sort of green portal grew into the world and out stepped something not human...Three somethings not human, and this is where she learned that Caius was in fact not human himself as he spoke to it. She couldn't understand a lick of what was being said but it didn't matter because soon Caius would transform before her eyes.

Wait, you can't just leave me with that thing! Her voice would carry but it didn't matter, the beast was already charging in her direction and Caius was already off to target the two smaller demons. Sighing she quickly snapped both of her fingers, a green magic circle appearing on her right hand while one appeared inches from her. The monster charging towards her was closing the distance fast and was just close enough for what she was about to do next. From the magic circle in front of her a intangible black butterfly forms and on instantly flies forward, hitting the beast and lowering his constitution, as the butterfly hit an arrow crafted from wood and vines followed it up. The attacks only caused the beast to stop momentarily as he laughed in her face before continuing his rush toward her. She could tell this was going to be a long, bloody day.

Caius
That a girl! Ianthe was quick on her toes to listen to Caius' order. She used her magic to shoot some projectiles at the beast which helped stall its advance. The demon was injured from the attack but it would take a lot more than that to bring it down. The sword demon laughed at her efforts. He spoke in the Abyssian, giving orders to to the two flame staff demons to handle the 'hybrid daemon scum'. Meanwhile, he would handle the girl whom he called something that rhymed with 'itch'. The two staff demons quickly rushed past the fight to fulfill the orders that they were given by their superior.

Caius was a decent fighter but relied more on his wits and magic. Since that wasn't an option, he would have to improvise. The demons closed on him fast so he would have to deal with their initial attack before executing his plan. Staff Demon 1 lifted up his weapon in the air and swung down vertically. It was a really basic attack that Caius was able to side step with ease. However, right when he dodged the attack, Staff Demon 2 made its move. A sharp, burning pain struck him in the chest as the 2nd demon connected his attack. The staff seared his chest like a branding iron as he was sent to the ground. The first attack was intended to lure him into the 2nd attack. They complimented each other well. This was going to be harder than he thought.

Caius landed on his back wincing in pain but the demons gave him no quarter.Staff Demon 1 walked over his head and brought his burning staff up. He intended to bring it down on his head, crushing it. As he swung down, Caius rolled out of the way as it seared into the ground where his head previously was. He managed to get up to one knee before the Staff Demon 2 did it's follow up attack. Moving out of the way in this position would be impossible so dug deeper into the Obscura. His back sprouted out two black wings as the demon swung his fire staff. Like a shield, the wings covered his body and protected him from the attack. The pain was still coursing through his wings but it was better than it hitting a vital area. Using all his strength, he flung open his wings which caused the 2nd demon to lose balance. Caius flew into the air and headed towards the nearby forest to try to separate the two demons. With zero hesitation, they followed after him. Ianthe would be able to handle herself until he took them out....probably.

Ianthe
She couldn’t remember a time where she really had to fight, where she used her magic enough to even leave her exhausted. It was a little known fact that Ianthe was not in fact a fighter. She used many other skills to survive this long but a fight? That wasn’t one of them, violence wasn’t her forte and if she were being completely honest with herself it probably will never be. If she could talk herself out of the situation she was in at the moment she would, but that was clearly not a option. She heard Caius speak or at least she thought she did, she couldn’t understand a lick of what he had said. She knew that it was being said to the three that came and ruined her day. Ianthe didn’t have that language learned and she probably would never be able to learn it unless Caius was willingly to teach her. Her violet orbs bore into the demon, she was thankful that the area they were in was mostly open space with a few trees scattered about until of course they reached the forest. Ianthe had resorted to hit and run tactics, using the environment as a form of stalling the beast that she knew she couldn’t very well outrun.  Hope was a word she was using a lot as of late, and she hoped that she would survive this fight in order to live another day. If she did manage to survive Ianthe made a mental promise to herself to start taking her well being a little more seriously, and start training to gain more spells and the like. Up until now her time in Red Hades was nothing but partying and being as high as a kite. She hardly ever had to do dirty work, but she was sure that after this more danger was likely to come her way.

Another tree creaked and cracked as the Great Sword wielding demon used his weapon to once again try to decimate the petite woman. The groan of the wood as the sword nearly cut it down in one swing caused her stomach to twist up. She couldn’t use another offensive spell in her arsenal so soon, she needed more time and running was the only way she was going to get it. Ianthe couldn’t even pay attention to Caius who was no doubt having an easier time with this than she was. Wishing she had wings, she would probably switched places and took on the smaller demons.  The large Great Sword wielding demon tried pulling his sword from the tree, taking a moment too long to do so. He must have been trying to kill her in one blow was the only thought that ran through her head as she quickly took off running once she realized his struggle. She didn’t dare look behind her once she heard the terrible war cry coming from the demon, and it only took her ducking behind another tree to realize she was pulling the damn thing farther away from the rift, farther away from it’s partners, and most importantly farther away from Caius. This was good as now if they going got tough for one side or the other they wouldn’t be able to help each other out. It was clear the beast was annoyed and now slashing his way through anything in order to get to her. She wasn’t going to let him get close enough to her but she was going to make sure he was busy until Caius could come help her out. Picking up some rocks as she continued to run circles around the demon, Ianthe began throwing them one by one at him, at his face hoping to catch him in the eye. His size made him slow, the obstacles she ran behind hindered him, and a well placed rock thrown at his face which hit him in his eye bought her even more time. The demon did not appreciate this one bit, in fact he was furious and another gut wrenching yell caused her heart to skip a beat.  Since the start of all this she had made it a point to keep the five meter distance between the two that she managed to keep up, but all of that was crumbling down as the demon closed the distance almost immediately.

She was played. He had been toying with her this whole time but she was too stupid to see that. A lack of combat experience was to blame on her end, and she couldn’t complain too much about that. With him so close he swung his blade straight at her belly it was only by luck that he was a few inches off, but still manage to leave a gash big enough for her to start bleeding, but not big enough for her guts to fall out. The sword broke a considerable amount of skin and the cut looked like it sliced from one side of her stomach to the next.  The attack caught her off guard of course and as she fell to the ground she bit her lip to suppress the moan that was threatening to break through.  Ianthe was thankful that the medicine was still working, she was worried that this modified batch her ringmaster created wouldn’t be as good but it was still in her system. Taking deep breaths she feigned pain, her violet orbs staring up at a smirking demon who licked the blood off of his blade. Even though the cut didn’t hurt she knew she couldn’t keep bleeding out like this. Frowning at the predicament she found herself in her ears perked up as she heard a grunted “ RUN “ from the beastly demon.  He was getting excited, he wanted more of the hunt out of her. Standing up she flinched before running towards the river. If he was going to give her opportunities she was going to use them, and her first order of business was to clear and dress this fucking cut or risk bleeding out, or worse it getting infected. She could feel her mana draining as she maintained the upkeep on the demon, he was going to regret keeping her alive.

Caius
Another loud shriek of terror was heard in the distance as Caius retreated from his enemies. This seemed to make the flame demons chasing Caius even more bloodthirsty than before. It must have been a battle cry from Ianthe's opponent. Hopefully she was enjoying herself. Right now, Caius was weaving through trees in the forest trying to lose his pursuers. Though they couldn't fly like him, they still had the speed to keep up. This was trouble. At this rate, he would just have to fly back to Orchidia Town and seek out some help. There were guards at the outer gates that would surely help him out.  However, the two demons  with fire staves had other plans.

From the staff, a circle of flames started to form. A fireball would then launch up in the air directed towards Caius. He was facing away towards the city so he didn't feel it coming. The heat crept on him and by the time he looked back it was too late. The fireball had hit his right wing causing him to spiral downward. The flame ate away at his wings burning down to his back. Before it could reach his main body, Caius canceled the transformation. This caused him to spiral downward. Luckily he was just above a great Oak tree and managed to land on one of its bigger branches. He hid behind the mighty trunk of the Oak and hoped the demons would pass by. They were smarter than that and lifted up their staves to continue their fireball barrage. Caius was able to see it this time and react to it. He hugged the tree with all fours and started to slide down it. The fireballs smacked into the tree lighting it up like a Christmas tree. The flames quickly expanded to the rest of the tree as Caius slid down to the bottom. The tree burning gave him idea.

As it burned to cinders, Caius was back to square one. The demons chasing him on foot. Caius saw another great oak nearby and put his back to it. He lifted up his hands and waved signalling for them not to fire. Abyssian: "Woah woah don't shoot. We can work together my brothers." The demons just laughed at his plea for help as they charged up their flame attacks. As they fired together, Caius used all his strength to jump out of the way. The majority of the attack was dodged but some flames managed to engulf his right left causing some moderate burn damage to it. However, his main plan came to life. The flames burned a hole through the bottom of the Oak tree. Without a base it became unstable and started to fall towards the demons. One managed to move but the 2nd demon was crushed by the mighty oak. Luckily it's staff was dropped so Caius recovered and picked it up. Now that he had a weapon he could put up a fight with the other one.

It didn't take her long to reach the river's edge, but by the time she did reach it she could feel the effects of the battle wearing down on her. Ianthe was playing a game of cat and mouse with a demon who towered over her and unfortunately she was given the role mouse by force. Pulling the black shirt she was wearing over her head and rushing into the river, Ianthe wasted no time in the clean up process. The cold water came up to her thighs before she stopped and dipped her shirt in it, wringing out any excess water before tying it around her abdomen where the cut at this point had slowed it's bleeding. She could hear the beast behind her, she could feel her mana rising up letting her know that she was free to use any spell she wanted at the moment. Looking around and taking in her environment she noticed some rock formations and made her way over to them, hiding behind the biggest ones in order to catch her breath. It was all she could do for now, run and hide, bide her time and wait it out. Of course she knew a tactic like that would only work for so long but it was really all she could cling too. With a demon using her for sport she knew it was only a matter of time before she was found and slaughtered if she didn't continue to move.

At this very moment she wished she had something in her system to take the edge off. Her mind began to wander to Caius and she wondered how well he was doing. Even though his opponents were smaller he still had to deal with two of them. Her thoughts were broken when she heard just how close the demon was to her own location. His guttural speech caused her to jump to her feet. If Ianthe had to guess at this very moment the arsenal she was up against she would probably guess something of the super natural sort. She wouldn't be wrong of course, there was a god damn demon chasing her. The demon probably had enhanced senses, super strength, maybe some sort of otherworldly magic that was made for decimating humans on a wide scale? She really didn't know but she couldn't bother to think about it for too long. Sighing she checked her wound which had stopped bleeding at this point. Counting to herself the mocha colored mage got up and waddled through the water to dry land. Nothing would protect her while she was on land, or at least there wasn't something to hide behind right away. Of course this was one hundred percent the worst but only move she could make. As soon as she turned around to see if the demon had seen her she regretted it. The two locked eyes, her violet stare of despair and it's crimson gaze of excitement.  Mana welled up in her hand, she was ready for round two. The pleasure that originated from her stomach had come to pass. With a shirt wrapped around her stomach, soaked black jeans, and a bra that pushed her breasts up quite nicely, Ianthe was ready for the shits today. Sighing she quickly snapped both of her fingers, a green magic circle appearing on her right hand while one appeared inches from her. Looks like she was going into round two today.

Caius
The staff demon howled in rage as it watch it's partners demise from the fallen tree. It reared its ugly head towards Caius and started to gather fire in the staff. The flames went from a fiery red to a demonic green color. The green flames would slowly start to envelop the demons entire body as its clothes and armor burnt off and fell to the ground in ashes. This thing was so pissed it set itself ablaze. Talk about a hot head. It firmly placed the staff towards Caius almost like it was challenging him to a duel.

Caius gripped his weapon in response. It was still lukewarm from the previous fire demon but it was nothing he couldn't handle. He was not much of a melee fighter. Caius was one to use his magic to dispatch his enemies but he had no choice now. He had to fight. Hey no better time then to learn then in the present right? The fire demon charged at him as he held his weapon up to defend. The demon slammed down the staff with the force of a thousand suns causing Caius to falter. The demons power was way stronger than his own. As the two staffs clashed, Caius was quickly being pushed down. At the same time, the overwhelming heat from the green flames was starting to take a toll. Caius fell to his knees holding the staff upwards to keep his blocked weapon up. It was only a matter of time before his strength would fade.

Suddenly, a flash of white light shone from the distance. A blade of light came out of nowhere and struck the demon on the side causing it to stagger and break off its strike on Caius. "Have no fear citizen I am here." A rune knight came out of the woods by himself ready to protect him. He never thought he would thank the police but this was an exception. The demon roared at him as well as the rune knight came and check on Caius. "I saw the flames and came running. Go back to the city and use this to defend yourself. There are knights there that will escort you to a safe place." The knight gave him one of his spare swords as it faced the demon in battle. The two clashed and their power was pretty even. They were going to be in for a long battle. Fuck that. He had to help Ianthe.

As the demon and knight clashed, Caius looked for an opening. The two slammed their weapons together causing light and fire to fly across the forest. Honestly all the light flying around scared him more than the fire. It was time to put an end to this. As they held together in a clash, Caius would rush towards the two of them. He brought the sword up and impaled the rune knight from behind and continued the thurst into the heart of the demon. A two for one! The two opponents quickly dropped dead as Caius shook the blood off the sword. It was time to go back to the river and check on Ianthe. Hopefully she was alive.

Ianthe

The demon licked it’s lips which made Ianthe physically cringe at it’s disgusting display. She could tell he wanted more of the chase but she wasn’t about to keep doing that shit with him. Ianthe wasn’t about to be this demon’s play thing any more today. Standing her ground she continued to stare the demon down until she was sure he realized that she wasn’t going to run anymore. That smile that was previously there was no longer plastered on the demon’s ugly, bloated mug. How did she get so deep in this shit, had she not got strung out on drugs she wouldn’t even be in this guild to associate with Caius in the first place, which would have never placed her in working with him. Speaking of being strung out on drugs, the drugs she was currently strung out on was starting to wear off and pain was starting to kick in. This sort of pain wasn’t the good kind, it was far, far, far from it. It started slow, like a prequal to what was coming, it was a countdown for her to either get more medicine or to suffering the consequences. She didn’t have anymore, she didn’t think what they were doing would take as long as it did but lo and be fucking hold here she was watching a demon run straight at her. Ianthe didn’t think, she just ran, she thought she could stand her ground but she needed more ground between them. She coudln’t be in striking distance of the demon or he would cleave her body in two. As she ran she shot off an arrow and a butterfly, both continuing to weaken the demon’s constitution and actually doing some damage in the process. It was enough to slow it down as it pulled the arrow from it’s stomach, a lazy placement but she couldn’t realistcally aim and continune keeping the space between them.

Another gutteral battle cry from the demon caused her to turn around, do a little jogging backwards to see the damage she managed to pull off. She was glad it was working out, but keeping up the spells was starting to wear her down, and she just did it again which was really going to drain her mana. She needed a distraction, or something, a place to just rest for a bit to restore what she’s lost and what she’s losing, not to mention the pain that was actually starting to cripple her. “ The fuck is caius…” The words were a sharp mumble under her breath as she ran towards the forest, breaking the five meters between them that she was keeping up. Not having many options was really putting a damper on her, dodging tree after tree to find a spot to hide and catch her breath. “ I have got to get off of these…. Drugs.. “ Her words came out rasped and broken as she found a tree she could climb and hide in. It was all she could manage as she bit her tongue, the pain in her body increasing. She could hear the demon rampaging behind her, yelling out things she couldn’t possibly understand. From where she sat in the tree she could see him, tearin down trees, lifting logs, and just being an absolute tank of a beast trying to hunt her down. What the fuck was she going to do when it finally caught her? She didn’t want to think about it as she rested her head in her knees. Taking deep breaths she could feel her head swirling, a migrain setting in, she just wanted to go to sleep at this point. The cut in her stomach caused her to flinch, reminding her of just how dire the situation could get if she made one more wrong move.

Caius
Well despite his wing and chest getting severely burned things were looking up. Two demons and rune knight were both. Not only that but Caius had a weapon now. He was retracing his footsteps back to the river to check on Ianthe. With his wings now out of the picture he had to go on foot and weave through the trees. Once he emerged from the foliage, he reached the river and didn't see the demon or Ianthe. Suddenly, he heard a mighty battle cry in Abyssian echo throughout the sky. It roughly translated to "I will eat your babies and devour your soul female" Someone was cranky. The good news was that meant Ianthe was still alive but she seemed to have pissed off the great sword demon. Caius crossed the river and headed towards the location of the roar and the sounds of battle.

As Caius approached, he made sure to move in with caution as the sounds drew near. He didn't want to lose his element of surprise. These demons didn't seem too bright so he could take advantage of that. They weren't superior like him. A sudden "thump" of a log being thrown down alerted Caius to the sword demons location. Though he wasn't much bigger than an average man, the best had some pretty crazy strength. From his gestures it looked like he was searching for his prey. Hiding behind a tree, Caius scanned the area. He guessed Ianthe pulled what he did and climbed up a tree. His instinct was right as he looked above and saw her bleeding up in a tree. They made eye contact but Caius put his finger in front of his lips telling her to shush. They had to think of a plan somehow to take out this last advisory. He had just the plan.

Picking up a rock, the threw it at the tree Ianthe was hiding in. There was a small blunt sound of the rock hitting the tree but that was all the demon needed. It turned around and started to lurch over to the tree that was struck. it looked upwards and saw its prey sitting on the tree. Ianthe was probably so pissed. The demon took its sword out and would start to hack away at the tree like some frenzied lumberjack. Now was the chance. Caius ran out from behind the tree while the demon was in mid swing. He thrusted the blade through the middle of the demon's back and out the front causing a blood curdling scream. Caius attempted to remove the blade but it was stuck in the monster's body. The demon whipped around and gave Caius a pimp slap with his fist causing him to fall to the ground. The demon dropped it's sword and turned him as it slowly stumbled foward. You could tell it was on it's last legs but it wanted to take Caius with him to the underworld. Caius was still a bit woozy from the last hit so he was pushing himself back away from the demon. If Ianthe was going to do something now would be the time.

Ianthe
She thought she was done for, this was the end of the line but then her eyes caught the familiar face of caius below. He motioned for her to stay quiet, as if she could do anything else. It was clear the man had a plan but what sort of plan was the question. Shifting her body weight just enough so she could see him a little better, her eyes widened when she saw him throw a fucking rock at the tree she was in. Her heart nearly stopped in her chest as the god damn sound of the rock pinged off of the bark of the tree, giving away her location. All she could muster was a faint " what the fuck " As the demon came slashing at the tree with her in it, like a lumberjack with a vendetta. She made a mental note to herself in that moment, that even if the deamon slaying she got was good, it would never be worth that kinda shit.

As she watched the demon her eyes lit up when she saw caius take action. She was thankful that he decided to do something and when it was all said and done the demon was weak enough for her to deal the final blow. Taking a deep breath she jumped from the tree, directly on top of the demons neck. This sudden weight caused the beast to fall over, hitting the floor which plunged the rest of the sword through it's body. " Caius get up and take it's sword, It's too heavy for me...Chop this thing's head off while it's down. " She fought through the pain, her voice sounding very off as she moved back just enough to expose the demon's neck but not enough to touch the sword that was plunged fully into it's body. She could feel it twitching under her, probably still had some fight in him. She knew that given enough time it would bounce back and they couldn't have that happening.

The demon was suddenly 'attacked' from above as Ianthe finally put on her big boy pants and helped out. She dropped down on the demon's neck from the tree causing it to fall over to the ground from the force. The demon must have been pretty winded because Ianthe was a skinny little thing. Caius managed to pull himself together and stand back up. The only weapon available now was the big ass great sword the demon had. Ianthe was so kindly exposing his neck so he was going to oblige her. Caius walked over to pick up the blade for the finishing blow.

"Mocha! I'm not going to lie. I thought you would be dead as fuck. But look you pinning him down like a dominatrix. I'm so proud! Just hold Mr big and scary for me. Were going to take a little bit off the top" He said picking up the blade. The damn thing was heavy but he managed to lift it above his head. The demon swore death threats and curses at him but he was unphased. He had heard it all before from his slaves. In one mighty swing the sword cleanly lopped of the demons head. They both were sprayed with the black blood the squirted out of his neck. Caius brought up his hands and wiped his face as he admired his work. He was entertained easily. "Damn did you see that? That blood must have shot out like 8 feet. I think that has go to be some kind of record" The two stood in victory in the forest hoping that the rift that spawned the demons would close now.
