She wasn't pleased with the way she'd gotten her way. This was something akin to manipulation, a trait she almost never resorted to. She convinced herself that it was for their own good, but on their way back, she sort of had to maintain the role of the rattled up Knight.

It wasn't too tough, she merely had to exaggerate her state. In all fairness, having to  use her gun and the lack of associated thought or guilt, at least in the moment she fired, had left her feeling hollow. It was the same feeling in the pit of her stomach, that she felt after killing the vampyre... and then the demonic demon-slayer.

The guilt always followed only after the act, when it was too late to take it back. Perhaps it was the blood that had such an effect on her... She shivered slightly. A sideways glance at Tsuru confirmed that she may have earned his concern yet again. She tried to put on a bolder face now that they were well on their way away from the blasted Oak town.

It was a pity that they had not been able to accomplish what the healer had set off with, but their victory in Baska still carried them through. They were headed for the town they'd saved yet again... Perhaps it would serve to lift their spirits.

Maybe it was the blood or being the cause for spilling someone else’s blood. Haru wasn’t sure what had caused his partner to be so disturbed that night. She didn’t speak much after that and he didn’t push it. But this wasn’t something that was going to solve itself. So, eventually, they will have to talk about it. He simply hoped she found the strength to and trusted him enough. Although, it truly was a question whether the healer would understand or approve of whatever she had done in the past, without judging her.

Now that the plague was contained in Baska, they had decided to travel to Era to finalize their promotion procedures after a short stop at the town to stock up on essentials. There were no trains. So, the journey ahead was going to be a really long one. Knowing their supervisors, the duo was probably going to reassigned to a different town immediately after the paperwork. So, he had no idea why they had to make the journey all the way just for a formality. Nevertheless, even as a Lieutenant, he couldn’t complain, but just follow orders.

After a slow and careful day of walking to ensure Akira wasn’t too exerted, the two Knights were in Baska and Haru suggested they get some good rest before moving on.
