To obtain the most concrete information on Phantom Lord, it would seem they would have to knock on the biggest doors found on Oak, literally. Lord Servas was holding a ceremony in memory of his late wife, and had asked for anyone who was willing to help with the preparations to approach the castle. Obviously, the duo couldn’t go there posing as Rune Knights, considering how wary they were around cops. So, Haru decided to change up his attire and attitude accordingly. Now, he dressed up like a normal peasant who was trying hard to earn his living and he hoped Akira would follow the set-up.

Clearly, you can’t carry weapons into the castle without the guards noticing. Thankfully, there was a female guard there; the last time a guy tried to touch his team mate, Haru had chopped off his hand. He didn’t wish for that memory to come back to haunt him during the night. Stopping a few meters away from the entrance, Haru tapped Akira’s shoulder and asked for her gun. “I’ll sneak it in through the wall. We can pick it up once we are on the other side. You make sure no one’s on the other side when I throw it in,” he said, holding out his hand. If she agreed, he would cast his Phase on the compound wall and wait for her confirmation that it was clear, before throwing his lightsabre and her revolver inside. Once he heard the two consecutive soft thuds, he would nod and begin walking towards the guarded entrance. “Good evening, fellas!” he began, cheerfully.

Finally having snapped out of his reverie, Tsuru now felt compelled to be the one in charge, perhaps to prove to the offensive mage, that he had what it took and that he was working on bolstering up his spirit and hardening his heart to do what must be done. Frankly, Akira could use the respite. Ever since they'd left Crocus the two were being slung off for one mission or the other, her brain seemed to be working on overtime. She relaxed visibly as the healer relayed his plans and she didn't feel the need to make any changes.

Aki's usual dressing style was rather minimalist in nature, although she followed suit and put on her most faded and old clothes, to match the healer in his measly appearance. 'Ok?' she asked before they moved on. His own acute sense of observation quickly noted what Aki had already deduced too, carrying their arms across would be tough. She covers her eyes and uncovered them again, to be able to take a peek on the other side, while Tsuru made the area accessible with his own spell.

'You sure I can't just slip in through here as well...' she said, more as a whiny complain, than as a serious thing to consider. If they didn't see her enter but found her inside, the girl was sure to raise alarms. He didn't feel the need to respond to her and just led the duo towards the guards, once again donning his more cheerful garb as he addressed the men. Before they could respond, Aki's stomach grumbled, she wrapped her hands around it and looked plaintively at the men Tsuru had just spoken too. 'We've had a rough ride, looking for a way to aid the royalty for some meager compensation...' she whispered in a forlorn tone.

The healer didn’t bother to respond to Aki’s complaint. He simply shook his head and walked on; he knew that she knew the consequences of being caught inside and was probably just joking. When the two approached the guards, they were quick to stop them in their tracks. “Hold up there! State your business,” the male guard said out loud. Haru had heard and said the same dialogue several times before. It wasn’t like he was never put on guard duty as a Rune Knight.

The red-headed Knight let his partner answer. It always helped to ease up the guard, and who better than a young attractive girl to that job. The guard seemed pretty eager to let Akira in, but was still not too sure about Haru. “Stand still. No monkey business,” he said, as he approached Haru and began patting him all over to check for any equipment he might be hiding. “Do I look like someone who can afford a weapon?” he said, chuckling. The guard didn’t care for his joke and continued examining his pockets thoroughly. He motioned for the fat woman sitting inside the guard room, who really didn’t want to get off the chair, but was forced to. She rolled her eyes and moved towards Akira. Once the examination was done, they would be allowed to enter. After the large door closed behind him, Haru quickly dashed towards where he threw their weapons. Thankfully, both of them were still there.

She half-smiled politely as her partner cracked a joke about the weapon, inside she was worried that he was overdoing it. Her fingers clasped at the side of her hand as she waited, assuming that she was going to be allowed inside without any requirements for the pat down. Unfortunately for her, a chair creaked in the tiny room for the guards and a plump disgruntled looking woman walked out and scrutinized Akira. From her glare, it was already evident that something about the lunar mage rubbed her the wrong way. Maybe it was the undue attention she got from the female guard's male colleague... Maybe she had some way of sensing the magic within. Aki wasn't sure, all she knew was this woman had no intentions of being gentle. Aki rolled her eyes as she was shoved against the wall and asked to plant her hands on it, to aid the guard in completing her work, if Aki was even a tad bit slow to respond, the woman would remind her that any hesitance was going to be coined as obstruction of justice.

Tsuru was allowed to enter a little before Aki and obviously, while she kept things busy he went to retrieve their weapons. Just as he returned, she noticed a rather astute but sad looking man approach them. He was dressed in very fine black garments, embroidered in silver with a measured and refined state taste. 'What are you two doing here?' he asked, his tone was surprisingly not accusatory. He glanced at the two Knights a bit like a king would look down at his pawns. 'If you are looking to aid me, I will be happy to employ your services, today is a very... busy day...' he said, his tone betraying a poignant sadness. She turned to Tsuru, since he was still the one taking the lead. This guy came from a lot of money, maybe having him on their side couldn't hurt, could they perhaps get some information out of him too? Was he a supporter or a financier of the Phantom Lord guild?

The female guard took her own time dealing with Akira, and thankfully the male one was more interested in the raven-haired Knight than the healer. So, it was rather easy to rush to the patch of grass where he threw the weapons, once inside. He hid both the weapons under his faded shirt and waited for Akira to come in. In a few moments, she peeked through the large door and it shut behind her. Almost immediately, a man spotted them. The red-headed Knight froze in position, wondering what they were going to say as an excuse when he asked what they were doing in there.

“Er…” was all Haru could say before the man requested their assistance. It seemed the lord of the castle was quite pre-occupied and so, he didn’t really wait for them to answer. Lucky.

Haru nodded and agreed to help immediately. “Of course! We came in asking if there was any way we could assist,” he said, finally putting the words together. “Very well! In that case, please head to the basements and fetch the lilies. It was her favourite…” he said, the last sentence trailing. Free access into the castle where they could potentially find more information on Phantom Lord? Sure. Haru saw no reason to linger about and question why he needed flowers or whose favourite they were. “On our way,” he said, keeping the cheerful attitude under check. The last thing he wanted was to offend the lord by being happy when he was sad. Usually, he wouldn’t care. But even he knew it wouldn’t end well if you tickle a lion after putting your head in its mouth.

While Tsuru's cheerful demeanor was well-received by most, the man who had tasked them with fetching lilies was rather stoic in the face of it. The regal man remained quite unfettered and it wasn't until he the word was was uttered, did Aki make the connection. Unfortunately, she had no way of trying to get Tsuru to understand and change his behavior accordingly as they parted. Once the man was out of earshot, however, she scuttled up to the healer and gingerly grabbed his drab robes. 'Tsuru, I think the event is either a funeral or a death anniversary of some kind...' she mentioned, her tone rather somber. They'd gotten themselves into this, there was no getting out, but Aki wasn't sure if this was really going to be beneficial for their task. The lunar mage could be rather ruthless, but asking a man who was grieving questions about a guild for their ulterior motives, was a line Aki couldn't see herself crossing. 'We should ask someone what is up...' she recommended, clearly leaving that task up to Tsuru.

She squinted as the alleys that led to the dungeons below grew darker and darker. She couldn't really tell though, having cast her luminare spell, everything within about ten meters of her appeared as clear as it would in daylight. She wondered if Tsuru had employed his strange density mapping thing, to get himself through this, since he wasn't relying on her as much as he once did. 'I see some flowers over there...' she said softly before sliding to the pots and fetching the tender lilies. Still not a fan of interaction and specifically not in this circumstance she handed them to Tsuru and let him finish the deed, while she made her way back up the dungeons and wordlessly left the castle.

The poor red-headed Knight was clueless until Aki tugged his robe and enlightened him of the occasion. Oh shit! Even if these people were sympathizers of the dark guild, it wouldn’t be right to intrude and investigate when they are mourning the loss of a beloved. Haru immediately dismissed any thought of questioning anyone. He was now genuinely interested in finding the flowers so that Servas would feel a bit better.

Seeing in the dark was not a problem for his partner, but it still was to him. Once they were down in the dungeons and was sure no one could see, he pulled out his lightsabre and activated it. The light glow of the blue mana blade illuminated about a meter around him, but no more. It was enough to avoid obstacles and not bang into things while he walked. But it surely wasn’t enough to search for flowers. He had to let that task to Akira who had better vision.

It didn’t take her long. She found the lilies in less than a minute and they were back on their way to deliver it to Servas. The forlorn man roamed the grounds, stopping occasionally at places, which Haru presumed were locations he shared a memory with the one he lost. Approaching the man, the healer offered his condolences along with the lilies. Seeing the fresh lilies, the man’s expression hardened for a moment before he burst into tears. Haru patted him in on the shoulder before taking his leave. As much as he wished to stay and comfort the man, he knew that would be of no use.
