Nyx Paris

The apple tree was to be the jewel of the garden. The way he planned it we would be drinking in the aromas of the late summer blooms, soothed by the waterfall between the two ponds and sinking our teeth into the delicate skin of home grown organic apples. After a busy winter and spring in the warehouse, sorting inventory before the big boss's audit, the neglected tree was in no state to be the jewel of anything. The bark had a sort of creeping mildew and the leaves were curled in an unhealthy way. It bore apples of sort, some even with a pink blush, but they all bore deep brown spots. Nyx frowned, the television show had made all this look so simple, he's spend a few grand and have a garden oasis for summer. He cast his eyes to the fish pond. A sigh, followed by another. Nyx had no gift for gardening whatsoever. But soon, that changed. Working hard, day by day, the dark mage eventually sought out the perfect garden, at least within his own two eyes.

It was described as a formal garden. The bonsai trees lined the perfect lawn in their wooden boxes. In the center there was a pond as large as a small lake with flowering lily pads and a wooden bridge that crossed the middle so you could look down at the koi carp. The flower beds were a riot of May colour and even on close inspection they were weed-free. The lake-side air was pungent with the fragrance of jasmine. This was no natural basin filled with melt water, but the luxury addition to a formal garden by an earl with both copious leisure time and money. On his death he bequeathed it to the a charity to run for their benefit. For a small fee tourists and locals alike could escape the traffic and the frenetic movement of people. Nyx stepped closer to the edge and crouched down. From six feet up the surface was an opaque green, but from just two it was clear enough to see the plants and life below the surface. He had expected the highly coloured Japanese Koi Carp and he wasn't disappointed, if anything he was impressed. They were huge and numerous, each about as long as his arm. He gazed across the wind-ruffed surface to the lily pads in bloom, their white or magenta petals catching the breeze. He inhaled slowly. Peace. His little piece of heaven in the urban jungle. After years upon years, he had did it. Even through his dark past, countless murders, and so forth, his garden quelled everything and left him at ease. Unfortunately, the move to Fiore changed all of it.

Crocus Gardens is a public garden for everyone to visit with flowers from all over Fiore. It is considered one of the greatest gardens in Fiore which explains why it has many visitors every day. Even the locals from Crocus come at least once a week to enjoy the view of all the beautiful flowers here. Nyx decided to come out to admire the beauty - he didn't have many chances to do so these days. His long legs paced to and fro, making slow circles all around as his eyes trailed across the scenery. Flowers of all sorts decorated the garden as they should, but even more so, they seemed ten times more magical than they really were. The flowers lay scattered on the grass like frozen flames, bringing their cool blaze to the late spring morning. One in particular caught his eye. Nyx held the flower in his fingertips so that it did not touch his scuffed palms. How was it that in all this chaos this delicate bloom should survive? Its stem was the hue of spring grass and its brilliant purple petals so thin that even the air, made dim by the plumes of life and longevity, could shine through them; bestowing an unearthly glow. The smile that had played at the corners of his cracked lips faded. This flower, while reaching for the sun was a living corpse, it was alive and dead. Without its roots its vibrancy would fade sooner than the daylight. It had been three decades since he's seen another person he recognized, he was rootless, like the bloom, cut off from support and supplies. He had to act now, make the right decisions or risk perishing before the moon had time to wax and wane just one more cycle. His first trip would be to the supermarket for water or food. He had no money but somehow he didn't think that would matter. After all, he was a dark mage.

On his way towards the local market, the oddity stopped as he found a frantic Rune Knight. Suddenly a smile arose on his face - he had a quick change of plans. The Rune Knight needed help and help Nyx would give. Not for free, obviously. He approached the Rune Knight and asked the knight was in search for. When he gave the answer, Nyx wanted to kill himself and the man then and there. "Your dog has it." he blandly stated, pointing right under Armin. As the Knight noticed, he reached down and retrieved his sword. "I can't make money off idiots." Nyx spoke, hating the events that just occurred.
