Kazumi Kiseki

•Kazumi Kiseki•

It was a dark and stormy night, Kazumi had gone to the mini fridge in her apartment for a midnight snack, trying to get her mind and body tired enough to go back to bed after the thunder had woken her up. However, she had not found anything to eat! She was officially dried out. It was for that reason that she decided to do some grocery shopping this morning, something mundane and boring but something that had to be done, none the less. She would rather not go hungry later. Of course, if something were to happen to cause her to want to do something more exciting well, she could hardly refuse, could she? At least, That's what she was hoping for. However, little did she know that as she walked out of her apartment building wearing a tank top, a pair of jeans, some boots, and her jacket around her waist, that her prayers would soon be answered... Kind of.

Off in an alley somewhere, There was a dumpster adjacent to a dine-in restaurant. In it were piles of trash, as one could imagine, but sitting quite nicely on top was a page torn out of the kid's menu of that aforementioned eatery. It was some sort of Maze, long since filled in by the child whom this once belonged to. It started at one place, and ended with a big 'X', as mazes sometimes do. A sudden breeze decided to move this map, however. The piece of paper fluttered in the wind on its own little journey, traveling until it hit an unsuspecting Kazumi in the face as she walked. "What the--" She pulled the paper off of her face and looked at it. She looked at the paper and paused. Something looked rather familiar to her. Reaching into her jacket pocket, she pulled out a map of Magnolia that she kept with her. After all, she still had places in this large city that she had yet to visit. Comparing the map with the maze, she realized; Hey! It looks so similar! See, What Kazumi saw was not a children's maze from a Kid's Menu. She saw a tattered and stained old piece of paper with a hand drawn Map of the city, Marked with a big red X; a treasure map.

Of course, Kazumi was not interested in going on this impromptu adventure alone. Absolutely not. So why not go with a complete stranger? What a great way to meet new people. She waved the paper up in the air shouting, "Anyone want to go on a treasure hunt with me?!"

Finn had only recently arrived within Magnolia, having traveled from Era after a long stay within the Rune Knight controlled town. There hadn't been any major or driving reasons that had brought him from Era to Magnolia, but a drive to continuously change up his pace so that he could always experience something new. This one was a town he had not often visited, and knew relatively little about. Having arrived there the night before and rented a room for the time he'd be staying, him and Jake had taken to the streets to look around.

Magnolia seemed like a relatively normal town, in every way that would add boredom to its allure. There was relatively no crime, few dangers, and an abundance of non-adventurers of any kind. Everyone seemed laid back, content to tackle their life one step at a time and not to reach for more. While that bred a perfect town for raising children and starting families, it led only to a sense of deprived time for someone who had chosen to come out here to find other ways to grow.

As he had begun to wonder what he could do to spice up his time here, a female voice sang over the light background noise of the morning. The second the words "Treasure Hunt" left her lips, Finn looked over and dashed in the direction, hitting his stride into a full blown sprint. As he ducked and dodged through the crowd, he saw the girl waving the paper as her free hand dropped from her mouth, having finished yelling.

As he approached her, he went to stop his momentum. Heels digging into the ground, legs sideways to get a large amount of traction to stop his forward progress, he came to a sliding halt only a meter or so before her, leaving behind him a cloud of dust and dirt from his high speeds. "I want to do a treasure hunt!"

The speed of an excited adventurer was something to behold. At least, Kazumi assumed that this blonde man now standing before her was an adventurer based only on the fact that he suddenly appeared almost before she was done calling out for a treasure hunting companion. In all honesty, Kazumi was expecting some strange looks from passerby before actually getting anyone to join her. Not that she was complaining, Better this than people thinking she was insane. Upon returning to an idle position after flinching from the running mad man, She responded to him, handing over the map she had found, along with the actual map of Magnolia. "Doesn't this look like a map of the city? It might be a long shot, but what if there's something actually buried there where the big 'X' is? I have nothing better to do, so I'd like to find out. Preferably, I'd like to not be alone for it." Kazu was so busy ranting about what her intentions were, she almost forgot that this blonde man was a total stranger to her! Suddenly sticking out her hand in greeting, she decided that it was better late than never to introduce herself. After all, who could go on a treasure hunt not knowing who their partner was. It was that required foundation a bond that would enhance the entire experience. "By the way, I'm Kazumi Kiseki, a mage from Fairy Tail. Of course, you can just call me Kazu or Kaz. Who're you?" Whether the boy disclosed his Identity or not, it wasn't like anyone else had come along to join up, so she was stuck either way. She pointed at the papers with a question, now that she was no longer holding them. "Alright, where does it say to go to first? I might know where it is."

As the woman spoke to him, having obviously been slightly thrown off by his sudden appearance, she handed him the map to observe. Taking the map, which had been crinkled and bent out of shape, he attempted to smooth some of the edges. It appeared she had not looked the map over too closely upon receiving it, as a lot of the bends seemed to be almost solidified, keeping it bent over itself without his intentional interference. Smoothing it away bit by bit as she spoke to him, he finally saw the top of the paper.

Kids Menu Maze!

His heart almost stopped, not because he was disappointed for himself, but this girl. All she had to do was look at this wrinkled paper and she'd have known, but instead... No. He couldn't tell her. As she gave her name and he looked up at her, his excitement slightly dulled, he realized he couldn't be the one to tell her. She was a member of Fairy Tail by the sounds of it, and that was an allied guild. Who was he to ruin her day simply because he had a slightly more attuned eye to detail?

"Nice to meet ya! I'm Finn Mertins from Blue Pegasus! So where to go, where to go..." As he quieted down, he looked at where the now obviously child's drawing began. The start seemed to be at the church, just down the street from them. "Seems to start at the Church of Illumin!"

The man, who would soon introduce himself as Finn, Seemed to pause for a second upon looking at the map. Surely he was trying to figure out what it could mean, who could have left it, what could be hidden within this very city. At least, those were the things Kazumi wanted to know. It was these questions that made the whole idea exciting. Maybe they could even end up with fortunes, who was to say? They would only be able to find out once they got started.

After Kazu's introduction of herself, Finn responded with his own. Such a greeting included the new information that he was a member of Blue Pegasus, a wizard's guild in Hargeon as Kazu understood it. That probably meant that Finn was only visiting Magnolia for one reason or another. Actually, now that Kazumi thought about it, She had noticed a lot of tourism around town lately. It almost came out of nowhere, Like everyone suddenly decided that Magnolia was the place to be. Not that that was anything to complain about, Kazumi was actually glad that so many people were coming to see this wonderful city.

When Finn answered the Crystal mage's question about where the first location on the map was, he described it as 'The Illumin Church.' "Oh, you mean Kardia? That's not very far at all. I'm pretty sure it's just down this way..." Kazumi began to walk, slowly at first to make sure that Finn noticed her moving on. During the short journey, Kazumi would ask Finn a question, making conversation and getting to know her new friend. "So What brings you to Mag? Is it a first-time visit or are you a regular?" The question would lead them up to the steps of Kardia, and the twin tailed woman would ask to see the map, noting the next destination as Olly's bakery if Finn gave it back.

"Uh, yeah I guess so," he stated, the lack of confidence in his agreement obvious in his voice. He wasn't exactly a regular of Magnolia, and so the actual names of the buildings were sort of lost on him. Even something like the Church in which many of the members of this town considered to be one of the most important structures was lost on him. He had his own ideas of the afterlife and divinity, of course, but he didn't know anything about any of the formal religions.

Kazumi would begin the pace, starting slowly at first so Finn could walk up next to her and pass over the map, which she accepted back eagerly. It seemed Jake had been right again. "Ignorance is bliss Finn. It means that people can sometimes be happier by not knowing something. It's complicated." Seeing something first hand really did sort the questions he had about it out, and that at least made this entire thing worth it. Dragging him out of his own mind, the Fairy Tail mage decided to get to know her sudden and chance companion a little better.

"It's not my first trip, but I'm definitely not a regular, so... I dunno. A returning traveler?" He thought about his answer as he walked, allowing her to direct them to the next location on the map. His mind was no longer dancing around with details of this so called treasure map, and instead was focused on her question.

"I've stopped by Magnolia for a weekend here and there while traveling around and junk, but I've never really stayed for a long time. This'll be my first." With his answer thought out and finally given, he'd return the courtesy. "Were you here before you joined Fairy Tail? How'd that bizz work out?"

It seemed like this was not Finn's first time hanging around the city, but he definitely seemed like he wasn't exactly familiar with the place either. A fact that was confirmed by the man himself. In fact, he expressed that this was his first time staying long term, though he didn't say how long. Kazumi could only assume that it would be more than a weekend. Of course, she had no intention of trying too hard. They had only just met after all, and Kazu didn't want to come off as annoying right off the bat. Her Curiosity would just have to be pushed aside for now. Of course, this was made easier when Finn asked the crystal mage some questions of his own, asking if she had been here before joining Fairy Tail. "Actually I traveled a lot before settling down here. Originally I'm from... the mountains." She hesitated a little bit, not exactly lying but not really wanting to unnecessarily relive past events. "Once I ...left, I lied with my mentor for a while and traveled until I came here. I actually really like Magnolia so I decided to Join Fairy Tail and live here." She slowed down as they got to the bakery, staring at the map. "That's basically... what happened..... hey, can you tell where this next place is? It isn't very clear." She showed the map to Finn once more. Sure, he said he wasn't super familiar with the town, but two heads were better than one, right?

"Oh I see. Nice." As he spoke, she questioned whether or not he could decipher the map better than she could and handed it to him. The line had a few more turns, but it looked like the turns just led them back around to the X. In reality, if they continued straight and through an alley he knew existed, they'd come out at the end point all the same. "Oh yeah, I know this," he started as he began walking. His strides were slightly faster, just to ensure that he was now leading the way.

When he had first seen what she had been talking about he had felt rather confused about the whole situation. He didn't want to break it to her what was going on, but at the same time he couldn't just dive in wholeheartedly either. Still, what they had found was a sort of happy medium. He had started enjoying himself. That enjoyment wasn't due to the journey they were on necessarily, but the fact that he'd begun to get to know a new person. That in itself seemed like an adventure.

"It's just ahead now," he began, walking through the alley. It was thin, but still more than big enough for the two to walk side by side of she so wanted. As they came out on the other end, Finn pointed. "That's the X," he said, directing her attention forward.

Luckily, Finn actually did seem to know where he was going, So Kazumi let him take the lead for this next leg of the quest, following him down an alley to the next destination. This gave Kazumi a little bit of reflection time. Even if they didn't find anything worth while, She would be happy with how this turned out. Finn seemed pretty cool. She could have easily been ignored when asking for a buddy, but This Blue Pegasus member went along with this crazy adventure and Kazu could respect that.

When they reached the end of the Alley, Finn pointed toward south gate park, Noting that the X marks that spot. "Oh, the park! Of course!" Peeking at the map, the X seemed to be under a large tree. Kazumi looked for a tree that looked the most identical to the drawing, and decided that this was probably the place. "Alright. Right here." Clapping her hands together, she created a shovel made of pure, diaphanous crystal. "I believe this is the spot to dig." She began to cut through the grass and dirt with her new spade, Hoping whatever was down here wasn't too deep in. She would allow Finn some room to help if he wanted, even offering him a second shovel if he so chose, but eventually Kazumi would tart to get confused. Why couldn't she find anything? She took another look at the map, wondering if she had overlooked anything. Maybe this was the wrong tree? She skimmed around and then noticed the top. Oh my god... Her pale face turned bright red, and though she wanted to hide it, she doubted she could. "It's... It's a kid's menu." Hastily she cleared her throat. "I, um, I mean *ahem* of course it is. Anyone can see that. I just wanted to see if the Maze had any merit, yes, of course." She looked up at Finn apologetically and sighed. "Sorry for dragging you along on this wild goose chase..." She hoped that she would be forgiven, but whether she did or not, the treasure hunt was over. It may have been a bust, but it was a lot of fun and she was at least glad for that.
