Riverside Spirit [Houren] Empty Tue Mar 21, 2017 6:42 am

Houren Vanadis
Houren definitely could not leave Orchidia before he got to the bottom of that damned blue light down by the river he had seen with the lunatic detective, Dex. The origins of the thing did not eat away at the Fairy Tail mage like one would have expected, and he always kept it at the back of his mind, but still, whenever he found himself idling or doing absolutely nothing, he would eventually drift back to the question of ''what was that, exactly?". Even when he considered leaving the town, this question would once again pop up in his head, and suddenly, going to Era didn't seem all that enticing anymore. His curiosity was also fueled by the appearance of the man known as Dacol Lubex at the riverside all those days ago, the guy who had stayed behind with Dex at the hospital after he had been knocked out because he wished to interrogate the insane man as to what he knew and what he had seen; he left Houren with the cryptic message that he would be in contact again when he found out more, and as such, the Fairy Tail mage wasn't all that keen on leaving town until after Dacol Lubex called him. If it was something along the lines of ''I couldn't find out any more'', then there would be some closure and he could head for his next destination, but while the phone was left silent, Houren could not leave the town in good conscience.

Dacol Lubex did not look anything like the man who had been handing out fliers to people coming into the city only a week or so ago when Houren met him; instead, he looked somewhat ragged as though this entity business had caused him a decent amount of stress, and he spoke in a low tone as though he was afraid of being overheard. At the same time though, the Fairy Tail mage felt determination coming from the man, and it was obvious to him that Dacol wanted to find out the truth more than anything else in the world. "I remember you told me the entity was just a blue light when you saw it a while ago, but I think you will be interested to know that your friend Dex gave me a completely different account; he told me that he saw a young boy that day, not just a blue light," Dacol seemed adamant that this was the truth, but Houren knew what he saw that day. It almost offended him that his integrity would be questioned because of something that someone like Dex said. At the same time, if the entity was as supernatural as it seemed to be, it was possible that the truth was they were both correct. It had appeared as a blue light to Houren, but to Dex, it might have been in the shape of a human child. They discussed this point all the way to the river where Houren spotted the rumored 'glowing' child by the riverbank. Perhaps it only appeared as a orb of light the first time you saw it, and as a child thereafter?

I wish to talk to you.

The boy's lips were not actually moving but it was obvious that this voice was directed at Houren, and the fact that the boy was looking at the Fairy Tail mage with an intensity in his eyes only hammered home that fact. Uncertain, Houren turned to Dacol Lubex who seemed quite surprised that the entity was so fixated on him. "I don't know how or why, but he's asking me to go talk to him. I'm sure the fact that he's staring at me like that gives it away," the Fairy Tail mage tried to make light of the situation, but Dacol only nodded and murmured something vague, like ''do what you have to do''. There was a certain reluctance in his voice, but Houren knew that this was something that he absolutely had to do if he wanted to figure out the truth behind why this spirit seemed to lingered in this world. The boy, or it spoke again, this time without the use of telepathic abilities. It seemed to have read Houren's mind and began to explain exactly what it was.

"I wanted to talk to you because you are a mage like me, or at least like I used to be. My magic was a little bit... peculiar, you might say, so when I passed on, I became this. A semi tangible entity that exists because of the mana around this area. You can see me, can't you? But you wouldn't be able to touch me," the boy's explanation was beyond the years of a young child, so it was obvious that he was a lot wiser than he looked to be. Suddenly, Dacol began to tug on Houren's shoulder and looking back, he saw that the man had already taken out his notebook and pen and was directly encouraging Houren to talk to the spirit some more so he would be able to report these findings to the higher ups later on. Houren nodded and began to ask the entity some common questions but it didn't seem all that interested in answering them; instead it cut straight to the chase and told Houren that he was trusting him to stop a threat to Orchidia Town in the near future, and something about someone that he knew and lost once upon a time, a long tiem ago. He ended his words with these cryptic words before disappearing completely into some place that definitely was not here.

"Between you and me, I think we'll meet again, you know?'' he, she, it had said.

Houren turned back to face Dacol Lubex who had written down the gist of the conversation on his piece of paper, telling Houren that he would go and talk to the higher ups and to ask what should be done next. He then advised Houren to contact a detective, a real one this time, not a quack like Dex, called Nilan if he ever heard from the entity again before dismissing him and giving him the green light to go and rest.
