Alisa

WORDS: 310 | TAG: @Alisa | HUNTER ARMOR

How annoying... Of course she couldn't simply expect a modestly safe landing... That was quite a very foolish notion of hers to begin with, but granted, after tangling with that behemoth with so little stamina left, she could be somewhat excused for her little slip up. Not that it mattered too much when she had growling, ravenous demons flying it from all directions, while she herself had little more than a single precarious handhold. Too much acrobatics would all too easily dislodge Yoru and send her plummeting right back down.

"If only... I could find a better place to land!", grumbled the huntress, defending herself in the only way she actually could - dodging. Quickly shifting her body aside, she let a single charging demon fly right past her, hissing when it scratched her with its claws, thankful for her armor for taking the full brunt of the damage.

Hanging by a literal hair's breadth, every sudden motion rocked Yoru just an extra inch looser from where she'd first jammed it in, and with only a single, unarmed limb to mount a proper defense, her position was as precarious as she could imagine. Gritting her teeth, she briskly swayed her body out of the way of yet another strike, and yet not without avoiding yet another painful gash across her back. One by one the demons struck, and even with Alisa putting all of her skills and experience to use, it was all a matter of time when she had no room to choose a better, more favourable position, not when every move left her closer and closer to the menacingly jagged ridges at the bottom of the cliff right beneath her, a grim reminder not to the rock the boat if nothing else.

Whatever resistance she could mount, it wouldn't last long. She had no real way out of here.

She may not have any way out, but that didn't by any means imply she'd simply go down without a fight. No, make sure to make every last moment of these demons worse than the very hell they lived in, as surely as her name is Alisa Vollan. The only question was figuring out how really... The demons were sneaky, always attacking when she turned to swat away an offender. She could likely possibly kick off the cliff with her blade in hand but, this wasn't the same battle as the single colossus who she could target and focus on. She'd be airborne against numerous flying enemies, even a more disadvantageous than her earlier battle. But even though her chances of winning before she crashed down seemed bleak, Alisa gritted her teeth... There was nothing quite as infuriating as getting ganged up by such pitiful demons, and before long:

"Tch! I've had with you lot!!", as frustration welled up, desperate times soon called for desperate measures, and even a powerful fighter like Alisa reacted like a cornered snake. As the next demon attacked her, she didn't simply move out of the way.

Instead, a loud, desperate screech made itself heard as her swiping hand seized a firm hold of the demon's wing, letting is runaway flight pull her off the last lifeline she had left. ...No backing out now! Grabbing firmly onto the demon's wing as it flailed desperately, trying to shake her off, Alisa knew this was little better than falling freely, for a creature this small didn't have nearly enough strength to carry the two of them, even if Alisa hadn't been gripping savagely to its wing. Deciding to put the creature out if its misery, she lifted off one foot and brutally smashed down on the back of the demon's head, killing it instantly with the blunt impact.

Only question was, how in the world would she get out...? Maybe she could kick herself off back to the rock and hold on to her sword once more... Yoru was still hanging there, gleaming off the dim, reddish light like an oddly reassuring lifeline. Except that jumping onto and seizing its grip so roughly too many more times would make it far less so, undoubtledly. She didn't have too long to think about it, not with the wailing demons all ready to crowd up on her, swarming her like a horde of oversize bats, clawing at her and their own brethren who provided her a measure of leverage:

"ENOUGH!!!", roaring at her enemies as more and more of them slashed up at her at every possible moment, she reflexively took the only way out she could: Another demon, one who could still fly and leave her current perch to fall to his doom. The new demon wailed as Alisa clung to its wings, but doing so in midair felt much harder than when she was at least holding on to the wall.

How moronic... If the demons had simply let her fall to her death, they'd have been a hell of a lot luckier than doing it this way, crowding around her and providing a measure of foothold... Granted this wasn't exactly a brilliant idea for Alisa, in fact, it was anything but. Instead of hanging by a hair's breadth on the hilt of her sword, she now hung off the wings of a panicked, very angry demon who kept flailing and furiously trying to knock her off. Doing everything to hold onto her quarry for dear life wasn't easy when the creature did everything it could to swipe and slash at her. Alisa could hold it's arms away, only forcing herself to dodge and move her head out of the way as it then tried to bite her with its sharp, foul fangs.

"Ghhhh!!", headbutting the creature into submission, Alisa quickly curled her powerful abs - instead of hanging by the demon, she clamped her legs shut around the creature's torso, relying solely on that vicelike grip to hold herself in place, "Got you~!!"

The demon barely had time to squeal in fear before Alisa through a mean right hook to its face, again and again and again, pummeling it with all her might, until the wailing just stopped. She couldn't kill it fast enough that she wouldn't have all the others hounding her at every turn, but in the end, this could work...

She could do it like this!

Her faint smile returning as she realized her one way out of this mess... Once again, she relied on the ferocity of the very enemies who came to get her, hopping onto one, killing it, then skipping to the next. Jumping from demon to demon, killing them all one after the other, and finally using their corpses as a stepping stone to reach safety again. Not a brilliant plan, sure... But at this point, it was more than good enough, far better than simply sitting by and let herself get slashed to ribbons by such weak, pitiful creatures.

Not that they could do it quickly enough, even with the complete disregard for their own brethren... But Alisa didn't exactly have the luxury of time. Even at this impossible height, the ground came clearer and clearer into view with every passing second, to the point when even the slightest moment spent fighting the demons only heralded her impending doom.

"I... Won't make it...!!", the notion settled in with a chilling shiver of dread, as Alisa understood all too well what crashing down on the jagged rocks below truly meant. Skipping from demon to demon helped absorbed some of the momentum from her fall, but this height, no matter how powerful, would kill anybody for sure.

But as the demon she struggled to hard against furiously beat its wings to stay airborne, Alisa realized the very creatures who'd come all the way out her to kill her could ultimately come to her unwitting rescue. Instead of hastily killing the creatures, Alisa thinned their numbers just enough to reduce their constant harassment, letting them spend the last bit of energy slowing her descent. Only when their energy showed signs of fading did Alisa finish it off and move to the next. But...:

"Not enough...!!", only two more demons yet had the resolve to keep hounding her, and one of them was pinned helplessly beneath her feet. It didn't have much choice in the matter, surely it might have already fled if not for her. It had little energy left to support her weight, and when the last, desperate one came to try and knock her off, Alisa grabbed that one as well, "Vajradeha!!"

Good thing these creatures never learn, with their ferocity matched only by their idiocy... But even then Alisa knew not if she'd survive, or even in a good enough condition to carry on her adventure, even after pulling up her armor once more. The demons had slowed her down somewhat, but as she stood a scarce few meters from the ground, it was all she could do to bend her legs as the demons beneath her feet wailed in dread, realizing all too late what the huntress had planned for them. After using them to slow her momentum, she'd use them to break the rest of it beneath her feet... For all the good it did as a sudden, searing flash of pain shot through her whole body, a sickening crack sound reverberating through her whole body. Her armor spell shattered instantly, her hunter suit soon followed, and last, came her own legs. As she cried out in unbelievable pain, that very first, ungodly sensation brought with it an odd feeling of relief.

She was alive... Yet all too quickly that sensation gave way to nothingness as she lost what consciousness to had left...

Fuuuck...!! This hurt so bad... She had to thank the demons beneath them for providing such a helpful, last minute mattress for her to land on. Or, well, what was left of them. After taking not only the damage from their own weight collapsing at this height, but breaking Alisa's fall, little of them truly endured the gruesome impact beyond bits of bone, blood and bile. She'd have made some cheeky, snarky remark about the creatures serving a greater purpose - for the first and only time throughout their pitiful lives - but for the life of her, she couldn't really form anything close to such eloquent words:

"Ugh...!! Ow...", grunting and groaning as she struggled to sit up first and foremost, Alisa compensated for her injured legs with her arms, grabbing onto the warm, jagged rocks, pulling herself away from the grisly massacre scene and further towards the cliff itself... As dangerous as it might be to hide under a potential landslide, she'd be far too vulnerable out here, in the open, when any more surviving fliers could just as easily swoop down upon her.

Alisa herself stood wounded, bruised, battered and bloodied... The very opposite of the graceful landing she'd have most likely preferred, but she was alive, and for the time being, that would suffice. She didn't appear to have broken anything, thankfully, for that would have surely been a death sentence for someone trapped this deep in the bowels of the Abyss. But to actually stay that way, she needed to find her way into shelter, dress her wounds with what she could find, and for that...:

"Gahh...!! T-this...!", hissing sharply at her first attempt at standing up, that overwhelming pain shot through her legs until the sculptress gritted her teeth and scowled, fingertips digging into a larger rock as she leaned into it for support. Breathing heavily, she took but a moment to acclimate...

Running was clearly out of the question, but she could walk, somewhat, or rather, shamble her way around as she looked for a solution to her first problem. Her wounds. Feeling the warm trickles of her own blood dripping down her legs, while not enough for blood loss to pose any immediate danger, it certainly might if she didn'd find something to dress it. None of these plants looked reassuring enough for the job, not if she planned on dealing with an infection for her troubles.

"Tch... I suppose... This will have to do...", leaning against a shaded wall as she ran into the cover of the cave, Alisa promptly ripped off half the sleeve in her ruined armor, knowing there were far better, more efficient uses for the tattered cloth than whatever defensive purpose it had once served.

Only the biggest gash in her right leg looked threatening enough, and as for the others, well... She'd deal with them later on, assuming they didn't deal with themselves. Alisa cursed her lack of knowledge on healing magic for she'd most certainly have need for it now, but alas she knew enough first aid to know how to tightly wrap the makeshift bandage around her calf, squeezing just enough to stop the bleeding, tightly enough for the job yet loose enough to let her move freely.

Gritting her teeth, she tied a firm knot around it, shifting her leg back and forth, left and right as she gritted her teeth, testing it out to see whether it got the job done. Satisfied with the result, she finally let her foot touch the ground, gritting her teeth and hissing ever so slightly at the sharp rush of pain, yet finding it not so numbing that she couldn't think straight or even move, despite the slight limp.

As she'd thankfully not broken her leg, she could walk normally without support, and hopefully she might recover naturally given some time. Alas, time was a luxury she simply did not posess... If she still had demons out looking for her, staying in one place too long, this close to her supposed crash site, would mean she'd get found out eventually. And to make matters worse, the longer she lingered, the less time she'd have to scout out the environment, gather enough information to prevail on the next clash:

"Now then... Let's see where this leads.", venturing deep into the dark, scarcely visible depths was hardly the best idea, but at this point, finding her way in the darkness seemed far more dangerous than exploring the wide open space where she'd landed. As she looked into the cave as her only escape route, Alisa could only feel thankful for the dimly lit pathway presented. Not all demons have any remarkable ability to see in the dark, though the possibility of an ambush was always something to consider, Alisa very much expected she'd have a better chance in here than out there.

And so, onwards she ventured, deep inside the bowels of enemy territory... She'd come here simply to kill the enemy would succeeded in roping her inside, but the more time passed, the more she realized there was something more than met the eye happening here. Even for demons, the ones chasing her did so like their lives depended on it, which meant they were still very much afraid of something, no doubt something far more dangerous than the crystal demon they'd just killed... Their boss perhaps...? Thankfully, she neededn't take any more than a few dozen steps before something ahead brightened the way. Every few meters, crystalline formations seemingly dotted the cave walls, until the sculptress' eyes widened:

"Wha... Glowing crystals...? Where in the world am I...?", musing aloud as she ran her hand over the smooth, bright white rock, Alisa got an unpleasant feeling as this crystal very much reminded her of the enemy she'd faced not so long ago... And with every step she took, more and more stones dotted the walls... Narrowing her eyes, Alisa knew wherever she was heading was most likely the same place her first enemy had sprung from...
