Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

The winter time has passed in its sombre majesty; having brought us skies of richly marbled greys and trees so elegant in their bare beauty. Those cold days for calmness and reflection are waning and a new energy rises. On this spring day, Snowflake sees the flowers that are to colour her world for the warmer days to come, waving in the breeze like a smile born of the cosmos—happiness in brilliant shades. She lets her eyes flow from tree to tree, noticing the buds ready to open into the light, to be as green flags in the ever-warming wind and the spring flowers ignite an inner smile, the kind that burns warm and long. They are as candle flames, their colours as light in darkness, illuminating the world after a long wintry cold.

The flower festival seemed to continue over the days and more people—young and old alike—would crowd in the streets of Orchidia. The festival was always a place of unrestrained joy. The costumes lit up the summer’s day, a riot of colour to rival any gardener’s paradise. Music filled the air, festive beats lifted the spirits, and it was time to celebrate the wonders of nature, Spring. But, one young woman would be muddled in the crowd, her eyes darting here and there with nothing in particular on her mind, unknowing what to pursue first. She looked rather uncomfortable, being in the midst of people, which she normally had an aversion to, nevertheless, she couldn’t miss the festival. While the majority of the community wore kimonos, she decided to stick to a comfortable outfit instead.

After all, she was simply just here to enjoy the flowers.

The bustling streets and the burst of bright colours ahead was quite a change of sight from when she was in Magnolia and it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it was the sort of change she needed to perceive after remaining in the same boring location for months without travelling anywhere. For some reason, it was aesthetic, pleasing to the naked eye and she couldn’t help but dazed by the beauty of the festival.

Far from hot enough for Alisa to long for that frigid air of winter, the sculptress nonetheless noticed days growing longer by the week, the sun
warmer and the winds stronger.

She wore her hair loose this time around, but even then Alisa stood powerless to resist the panache of all the ornaments she could choose from, styling it with a wide blue flower. Eastern women were far more creative with them, where even a casual choice of item boasted a significant flair, the likes of which a Fiorian woman would seldom wear anywhere other than in a stylish gala. Kimono like the black one she had one comprised the norm in those faraway lands, though hardly baring her shoulders and plunging cleavage as such... The looseness highlighted her naturally curvaceous figure without needlessly bolstering it, making up a refined that appearance that still focused on the woman's natural beauty.

Eastern calligraphy however, was a different beast altogether - with as many kinds as there were variants and offshoots of the Sinese alphabet. A gorgeous, exquisitly complex beast, nearly impossible to tame even for a woman as intelligent as Alisa. If only it were as easy as butchering it, she'd have mastered the whole thing already...

But here she was, with a brush and piece of paper in hand - her face a fair bit more focused than her laid back usual - the sculptress sampled different brush strokes until she'd come up with a satisfying look for even a single character, but even when it finally pleased her artistic sense, she couldn't help feeling the actual literary part was yet lacking something. She furrowed her brow as she looked at it, but her supposed teacher simply smiled and nodded, and she wondered if he could even speak any Fiorian... Alisa kept trying it though, until the moment a cool breeze drew her gaze sideways, rippling her long hair and sleeves about as her glossy lips drew into a smile:

"Oh, long time no see~... Good afternoon Snow~", greeted the artist, looking away from her brush and paper to look towards the new arrival, an old friend and guild master.

Like the silvery beauty, Alisa's loathing of crowds had lead her away towards one of the many festival stands, where a friendly looking old man honored the eastern theme of this festival by teaching people a fair bit of that foreign literature that every so often made its way here... Not many people looked interested though, at least not this early in the day... Only time would tell if Snow too had been lured here by the stand, Alisa's presence, or perhaps even a causal stroke of fate. Perhaps she too had simply tried to bustle away from the crowd and wandered here, just as the tall woman did.

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

It wasn’t unusual for the white haired beauty to be lost among the streets, in fact, it was almost as if it were one of her silly habits that she seemed to be unable to get rid of. Heels clacked against the paved roads, and beneath the linings of her worn shoes was the sound the scattering, most notably tiny mounds of pebble and dirt that filtered through the spaces in her steps. At her foot, the female would kick at a stray pebble, watching it rotate over the dust for several turns, unsure of where to head and doubtful if she had anything left to do in an area. She’d visited every stall that filled up the streets of Orchidia—well, the food ones at the very least, and they were the only ones that mattered to her, were they not?

Having so much time spent doing nothing but eating traditional food from the festival, Snowflake deserved a break, or perhaps a walk to digest all the food that entered her stomach a mere second ago. Although it was spring, the cold winds from the winter still lingered as the chill seeped into her bones. Her fingers reached for the rim of her outfit, pulling it tighter over her shoulders for a warmth that was so greedily coveted, but was sought for in vain. Black in colour, her attire did not attract any particular attention from the others, unlike those who walked past her with bright, colourful kimonos and she willed herself to melt into the shadows, to become nothing more than a slip of darkness.

Her silver hair flowed around her youthful face like a river of moonlight as she weaved through the crowds, edging through the dense flow of people. Her eyes were crystal, sparkling blue and grey, and her skin was white as alabaster. Cherry blossom flowers laid by her foot before she’d stop and knelt down to collect it, only to slip the flower between her silky strands of hair and wore it like how every other maiden would.

A familiar voice registered into her mind from a fair distance, that her brain waves suddenly reacted with a jolt, her head whipping immediately to the source of the sound. Sapphire eyes came to meet a gaze of scarlet, fused with diversity and her lips slightly parted from awe, followed by a soft smile that grew on the curved line of her lips. ”I didn’t expect to see you here, Alisa. Good afternoon,” the woman greeted, her eyes idly glossing over the figure of the other beauty. ”You still look stunning as ever, even more with a kimono.” It has been quite a while since their last rendezvous, although her closest friends never seemed to leave her mind wherever she went.

”How’s the festival treating you? Enjoying so far?”

Alisa felt more at home with this pleasant chill, in some places in the south even Spring got too hot to handle at times. But Alisa really wasn't so far away from her hometown, and that simple notion helped keep a pleasant smile on her face as she inhaled this pleasantly familiar northern air. The calligraphy paper in her hand brough a different sort of emotion... An interesting challenge, certainly, but she found herself squinting whenever she looked at it, as she she tried to make sense of the details behind the character she wrote, had she actually written it correctly...

For now though, she'd much rather catch up with Snow

"Likewise~ Though even with so many people, we're bound to run into some friends every so often...", acknowledged the sculptress, finally putting down the brush and paper over the festival stand, where the old man simply nodded at her efforts. Clearly it wasn't that bad, and made the artist beam a bit brighter at her snowy friend, reaching a humbled hand to her neck, "Thank you~", yet this finally made her appreciate the ice woman's own beauty, in a way she initially missed...

As she looked down her form - appreciating her choice of look with an approving smile - Alisa fully noticed how her Guild Master had returned to her older look, and clad herself in a Kimono even shorter than her own; fully matching her favorite color scheme from those days:

"Though you look ravishing yourself~ I like how you went back to your older look. Suits you better~", she winked, noticing how she'd gone to a heap of trouble to restore her old cyborg look, despite now lacking the necessary robotics. Curious about the change, she rested a hand on one hip as she pushed it to that side, resting her weight one one leg as she inquired, "I hadn't taken you for the nostalgic type~"

A question disguised as playful tease; belying her curiosity, even though Snow had ample room to avoid answering should she not feel like sharing it, but for Alisa this hardly qualified as a private inquiry.

The sculptress herself changed her appearance very regularly, but she mostly focused on her clothes, and at time, her hair. She rarely went as far as seeking a more profound shape one could only acquire through magic, but alas, that seemed a really popular choice for a change of looks nowadays.

"Quite a lot actually, Orchidia looks splendid at this time of the year. It had been a while since I last saw it~ How about you?", she tilted her head, looking curiously at her guildmaster, wondering how she'd feel about the lovely, flowery scenery all around them, "Had you ever seen Orchidia in bloom?"

”Really?” – was her immediate response upon her dear friend’s compliment, and somehow, that seemed to have left her lips in a more excited tone than she would have liked—not that it mattered. After God knows how long she’d been standing and walking through these bustling streets of Orchidia, she’d take a seat nearby, crossing her legs in the immediate process. ”Indeed,” she’d nod in agreement. There were too many people in the town—far too many than she’d ever seen in Orchidia, and it was undoubtedly due to the festival that took place in this particular area.

Silvery optics idly glided over to the work that Alisa had been working previously before she entered the scene. ”Calligraphy?” she piqued in, studying it curiously. ”That’s an interesting hobby, I’d say.” Not many attempted to commit to such an activity, and although it wasn’t of her interest, she found the practice a beautiful form of art.

There wasn’t any particular reason as to why she suddenly decided to change her appearance, and when people brings the topic into discussion, the only response she’d have was a blank stare—as could been seen from her in this situation. ”I don’t really know…I do miss my long hair though,” added the frosty maiden, her fingers reaching to tug on the ends of her hair gently; a habit that she’d collected a while ago when she felt indecisive.

Snowflake wasn’t sure which look she preferred and truth be told, her cyborg appearance had more stories than she could ever tell, which was perhaps one of the reasons why she wanted it to be still a part of herself. Albeit, her preference for longer hair evidently outweigh the other, nevertheless, she decided to remain with her current appearance for the moment and perhaps, even for the longer term.

”Oh no, this is my first time witnessing the Orchidia flowers in bloom. I must say that it’s really beautiful—maybe one of the most beautiful sights I’ve ever seen.”

It has been months since she’d last visited Orchidia and none of her trips were meant for relaxation, more so, to complete quests or when she was simply dropping by for a mission, though she always enjoyed the verdant trees and the greenery that filled the city more than any other town she’d ever travelled to. ”I heard they used to have a hot spring around here, not sure if it still exists.” She should have paid a visit while she had the chance since hot springs appeared to be somewhat of rarity these days, and it’s rather difficult to find a good one, like the baths in Magnolia.

Alisa could count with her fingers the amount of times she'd seen Snow smile. Indeed they were few and far between, which made even that scarcest hint on her lips thoroughly noticeable, and she took in every contour. As she sat down on a nearby chair, Alisa joined her, gracefully crossing her legs and resting both hands upon her knee

"Well, I'd hardly call it a hobby~...", she replied, glancing away and rubbing her temple; by her own admission, "I haven't practiced nearly enough to call it such."

She saw it more as a seasonal pasttime to be indulged in at this time of the year, or at least in thematic festivals such as these. Instead, she found herself turning one palm face up and delving into her actual hobby, sculpting. She'd been too focused on battle and too little on her art, but thankfully this festival came to put everything into perspective. With her sculpting now second nature, she could rely solely on her sense of touch and keep her eyes set on Snow, as she fiddled with her hair rather endearingly. As with most things, she seemingly viewed her change in a mostly neutral light, not bothered nor excited over it, but then she'd never been really attuned with her emotions, possibly even less so than the aloof Alisa herself. For the sculptress, what started as a defense mechanism eventually became a central piece of her identity, that cool, elegant demeanor she cultivated until she no longer imagined herself without it.

That side of her never truly changed as she strove for improvement within Blue Pegasus, but simply took on a different facet, one she readily welcomed as her true self:

"It really is, huh...?", replied the sculptress, looking off almost longingly into the distance, into the park where most of the festival congregated, "Taking in a sight like this - if only once a year - defenitely helps puts your mind at ease..."

Spending so long preoccupied with war and power struggles often leads to forgetting what truly matters, all the stunning sights this world has to offer, and the loved ones who'd admire them beside you. With that though, her shimmering gaze moved right back to the snow white beauty, with a mental note to possibly come by all together next time. They hadn't gotten together as a guild for far too long...

Alisa for one hadn't seen Finn or Chel in months, far less so than Snow, Espy or Lia.

She should rectify that soon enough.

"It probably still does...", added Alisa, looking back over her shoulder, back at the way she came as she squinted. Now that she thought about it, she was pretty sure she'd seen one such hot springs on the way here, more specifically, a hot springs inn. Might not even be the only one, but so far it defenitely was the only one she could think of, "Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure its this way if you'd like to have a look."

Pointing her thumb back in that direction, she looked back at Snow with a clever smirk. The Guild Master had truly given her a delightful idea, and the more she thought about it the better the idea seemed. For a woman who divided her time between idle contemplation and sporty conditioning, soaking the soreness away in the hot springs defenitly stood up there among her favorite settings for the former. Perhaps Snow would join her, but at this point Alisa had already decided she wouldn't return to the hotel without finding those hot springs first.

Hopefully they were right where she though they'd be...

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

She gazed beyond, where the busy roads lie and where people gathered with a hint of glimmer within their eyes as they looked upon the beautiful flowers that adorned the vicinity; its bright colours and sweet fragrance filling the city with every passing second the breeze blew past. Each one is a delicate bloom, no matter if it is a formal garden or a waste land. Their petals are delicate works of art and their hues are medicine for many souls.

”Interesting. I haven’t quite found anyone with a passion for calligraphy, like you,” the frosty beauty returned her gaze towards her fellow guild mate before shifting her attention towards Alisa’s work that she had passed onto an old man seated beside. ”You do well at that,” she nudged her head in the direction of the fine piece of art that the dark haired sculptress had created.

The way the two women gazed longingly into a distance where the festival was held, it was quite evident that they enjoyed the exquisite sight of the flowers as well as the nature itself, despite not being fully engaged in the program. Snowflake had always been one to stare off into the sky, while her mind wandered off and without being fully aware, she would’ve already spent hours watching the clouds and the changing colours of the empyreans; from a refreshing blue to neon orange and fire red.

Only a nod that went unnoticed, she released a long sigh; not out of exhaustion but of relief as she balanced her body in a reclining position on her two hands on the bench. For a very brief moment, silence filled her ears, as if her body had filtered all the unnecessary sounds and that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it was the sort of silence that she’s come to crave, especially when her mind had been growing so restless due to the upcoming troubles ahead.

Her train of thoughts was interrupted as the sculptress’ voice slowly registered into her mind and she’d blink once, twice, until she was finally able to comprehend what the other female had been saying. Her gaze would follow the direction of her finger, in which she assumed was the location of the hot springs that she’d brought into discussion in the previous moment. ”Lovely,” uttered the petite woman, gradually remaining her composure and allowed Alisa to lead the way to right where they wanted to be.

Hot springs weren’t the worst idea of all. In fact, it was far from worse, and though the cold temperatures were meant to be gone, the frigid harsh gales that blew through the town of Orchidia still brings a shiver from time to time. It might not be so bad to warm up her body after all, especially when she desperately needed to relieve the stress that her body had built up recently.

That mere effort of striving to produce something beautiful, evolving one's own standards and meeting another's head on... Alisa admired the artistic mindset, and in a way she'd always struggled to meet it, long before she herself called herself an artist, even before she took an interest in sculpting. Creating beauty defying the viewer's imagination, opening their mind and broadening their horizons:

"What can I say, I have a passion for all things artistic~", she answered, brushing that raven hair behind her, humbled at the constant praise from her friend and leader, until the faintest pink hue colored her cheeks. She hardly excelled at all of them, nor would she presume to. She couldn't trust her drawing or painting skills to save her life, nor was she that good a writer either, "Don't you?"

She tilted her head slightly, her long hair draping down her shoulder in a slow, flowing motion. Now that she thought about it, she'd never discussed art with Snowflake, or even her views on beauty. They'd had deeper discussions, and at times more practical ones. But seldom debated their individual ideas on the very essence of Blue Peagasus. Yet simply admiring the same colorful sight might count as a form of such debate, a drawn out contemplation despite reaching an agreement so early on.

Leaning back lazily, Alisa slid her feet a bit further forwards, enjoying this moment with a friend she seldom saw. No awkwardness settled in even as both of them fell silent, Alisa for one perfectly enjoyed another's company even without the tiniest word exchanged, and Snow seemingly shared that outlook. The sculptress focused on her statuette, her fingers running deftly along the rugged crystal, smoothing out the hard edges, shaving off excess mineral in glittering dust, falling right down.

Mentioning hot springs caught her interest, but pointing out the location earned her the ice mage's full attention. Alisa had spent enough time with Snowflake, more than enough to pick out the faintest glimpses of emotion past that impeccable, icy poker face, rivalling even the sculptress' own. She could tell the girl had been interested by the idea without Alisa even before she spoke it aloud:

"Fufu~ I had a hunch you'd be interested.", answered Alisa, standing upright, swiping her hands down lap, wiping off the excess crystal dust collected on the creases, "Let's get going... Oh, and here you go~", with that classy, radiant smile, Alisa reached one hand to the other woman, offering a pink, finely sculpted cherry blossom.

Alisa dealt with the chilly breeze well enough, the flowing fabric of her kimono fluttering about like a raised flag, though that faint numbing of her finger tips reminded her how she was truly back in the North:

"So... This it is.", she'd point out, looking rather pleased with herself as they arrived at the hot springs, clearly marked with a sign and eastern characters Alisa couldn't read, but fully understood. They matched the whole theme of the festival after all.

”No,” she paused, inhaling a large intake of breath before she continued, ”…I’m not quite the artist,” spoke the female softly, reflecting back upon the numerous attempts of involving herself into things that were related to art, but to no avail. It didn’t take her long to realise that she wasn’t interested in anything regarded to the topic itself, although, she still greatly appreciates the beauty of nature or particularly things that she found artistic. Though Snowflake might not be considered someone who excels in art, it wasn’t until recently that she noticed she had a keen interest in beauty. It was no surprise. After all, every young female of her age desired to be attractive to the human eyes.

Silence reigned supreme between the two as their conversation ended. Being one who thoroughly enjoyed the tranquillity, Snowflake did not find the absence of sound uncomfortable or any of the sort. Instead, she’d release an inaudible sigh out of content as she gazed beyond her.

”Let’s get going… Oh, and here you go~”

The snow haired maiden shifted her attention back to her dear friend, only to see a perfectly sculpted crystal blossom being handed to her. Without sharing a word, she retrieved it, twirling it within the tip of her fingers as she let her eyes gloss over the dips and curves of the sculpture. Receiving gifts were not common for the young female, which is why when encountering an event of such, she felt nothing but surprise and awe. This is how it would have played out in this situation, although the features on her face displayed no more than a twinkle in her stormy gray eyes. ”Thank you,” spoke the female, grateful for the little gift that she’d received.

It was no lie that she was terrible at expressing how she felt, but she knew that Alisa would understand her well, without needing an explanation. Despite how the gift was a mere cherry blossom, having it given from someone whom she considered a close friend, it was of importance to her. ”I’ll treasure it,” she promised to the other female before sliding the flower into the pocket of her kimono cloak.

Snowflake gazed upon the building in front of them. The characters written on the oaken board gave way that it was indeed the hot springs—not that she knew how to read them, but the place was easily distinguishable compared to the rest. ”Well, shall we go in then?” Upon their entrance, they would be greeted by the staff dressed in traditional clothing; a theme that paired up well with the festival, in which the mages would be led to the changing rooms to get ready for the hot springs.

WORDS: 500 | TAG: @snowflake | BATH HOUSE

Granted, Alisa never saw herself as much of an artist either, it took a member of Blue Pegasus saying those words for them to resonate with the woman's heart, for her to finally take a good long look at the crystals in her hand and understand what she was doing with them... In her mind, anyone who strove for perfection already had a budding artist within them, more so if they felt truly passionate about it:

"You're welcome~", answered the sculptress with a knowing wink: a silent, but clear sign of understanding the other woman's heart... Even if Snow herself struggled with expressing those feelings, the keen eyed martial artist took in that subtle glimmer in her icy blue eyes.

They'd fought and trained side by side, with the sculptress eventually entrusting the future of their very guild to her. Though out of touch with her emotions, Alisa saw enough of her to relate to that loyalty and fighting spirit, and in turn that only brought them closer. To the lone sculptress, Snow had also been the closest she ever had to a rival: Perhaps if they cultivated this bond, their mutual fighting sprit may eventually sculpt them into some of the strongest in Fiore, just as Alisa's hands carved smooth, beautiful shapes our of rough, ragged edged rocks.

But just like their skills, their bodies too needed such a delicate, careful treatment to retain the ravishing beauty Blue Pegasus were so reputed by, and hot springs defenitely helped. As they walked inside the hot springs, a prim and proper receptionist greeted them with a bow, handing each of them a bathing Kimono plus a set of towels. After thanking the woman and making way for the changing rooms, Alisa couldn't help but muse to her friend, smiling as she casually rubbed her hand over the delectably soft, silken cloth:

"I should have expected we'd swap from one Kimono to the next~", she sighed playfully, after all, the sheer softness of the fabric gave her little reason to feel disappointed, "As for the clothing itself... Not too shabby. They must have pulled out all the stops with so many tourists around..."

They'd have a chance to try out that softness for themselves as they entered the women's changing rooms. Once they reached it, Alisa's kimono came loose with the slighest tug on her Obi, sliding smoothly down her arms, baring her naked, hourglass figure as nonchalantly as ever. Why would she care? Even in the women's locker room, they had the whole place to themselves. She covered her bare form soon enough with that bathing kimono provided, all but humming at the smoothness of the attire around her skin, soft like a lover's caress.

They'd have to walk through another hallway, seemingly deserted at that, before they finally reached the smoky, steamy room of the hot springs themslves. Resting a hand on her hip, Alisa's neck twisted left and right, observing her surroundings as one hand slid lazily to her hip, all but nodding approvingly:

"Hmmm, how surprising~ Nobody else here, it appears...", she smiled at Snow, hooking a finger at her as she walked over towards those warm, cozy waters, laying the bathing Kimono over a nearby hanger, "Come on~... We have the whole place to ourselves."

Beyond The Sun & Stars

Snowflake knew for a fact that whenever she was with Alisa, she didn’t have to be on guard at all times, like how she normally would be and that she could just simply just close her eyes and trust her with everything she had. Having spent time with Alisa more than anyone else in the guild—apart from her lover—the bond between the two females was nearly unbreakable, almost as rivals and as beloved friends, she treasured the relationship the two had. It was also one of the reasons why she always felt so comfortable around the crystal beauty, even during the time they first met, Alisa gave off the vibe of a family member to her; an older sister, to be exact.

”Indeed,” spoke the female, casually slipping her kimono over her shoulders and letting it fall and pool around her feet. ”I wouldn’t want my kimono to be ruined in the hot springs. It’s good that they provide one at the very least.” While she dressed herself into the bathing clothing that was given to the girls, she’d involuntarily glance towards the direction of Alisa, who was just as naked as her. There was nothing to be ashamed of; it wasn’t as if none of them didn't know of the female body parts that existed on their figures. Her eyes would happen to settle onto the other girl’s ample bosom. At the sight, her eyebrows would slightly cock upwards, amazed by the size of it. It was certainly larger than what she’d seen above all that clothing.

The snowy beauty had no intentions of ogling her dear friend. Perhaps it was just a habit of young girls, especially when placed in changing rooms together, they would unnoticeably observe at each other’s assets. Her bathing kimono was let loose around her petite yet, slender figure, her front torso and legs entirely bare as the couple finally entered the hot springs. Her eyes shifted left and right, and just like Alisa, she was observing the area upon entrance. There were clearly no signs of people. How fortunate were they that they had the entire hot springs to themselves? Undoubtedly, none of them complained about the lack of customers the place had.

The water was hot; hot enough to make a person recoil like a little girl at first touch, but Snowflake was craving for it, despite how it might have burned her porcelain skin. It was all part of the relaxation and she knew it would soon fade away as soon as she started getting used to the temperature. A long, content sigh escaped her lips as she settled by the side of the hot springs, her arms draped over the rim of the structure. ”I’ve missed this. It’s been so long since I last visited a hot spring.”

Indeed, Alisa would have never allowed Snow this close to her had she not trusted the girl, and had not a shred of doubt as to whether the other girl felt the same way. Indeed, though neither of them had stated it, she felt both of them understood this fact very well, and built their relationship around it.

"For them to provide one this comfortable though... I almost feel bad to take it off... Almost~", stated the sculptress, just as she allowed the now loosened kimono. It slipped down her shoulders far more effortlessly than the clothes she had on initially, attesting to this unrivalled, heavenly softness, "Wouldn't you agree...?"

Indeed, she obviously had no shame baring her breasts before her white haired friend, scarcely sparing the slightest sliver of though as to whether or not she looked. Personally, Alisa avoided taking these casual moments to sneak peeks at her friends' physique; The only situation when she'd well and truly ogle another woman's naked form... Was after ensuring said woman earnestly asked her to do so.

Not to say she had no manner of curiosity either.

Indeed, a mere passing glance at her friend's elegant, slender hourglass figure humored her curiosity, and beyond that, Alisa's own elegance reigned supreme. On the other hand, no way their pure-as-snow guildmaster could ever have such indecent thoughts, right? Naturally, with the how highly she valued Snow and her grace, she'd hardly assume the girl's gaze to linger there beyond the obligatory couple of moments... And if she knew otherwise, she wouldn't have minded, quite the opposite: Being admired by someone she herself found gorgeous should bring her nothing but a keen sense of pride.

Now though, they had the whole place to themsleves, and before long Alisa dipped her feet into the water, feeling that pleasant heat tingle against her skin, radiating throughout her entire body and giving it a faint, healthy flush the deeper in she reached. Once she finally took a seat and draped her arms out to either side, Alisa couldn't help lean her head back and look up into the sky, where the lilac hues of twilight steadily gave way to a moonlit, nocturnal obsidian. When Snow spoke up, Alisa slowly turned her head to face her, eyes of red seeking the girl's blue:

"Really...?", an eyebrow raised betraying a hint of surprise. Though not necessarily surprised an ice mage avoided spending the bulk of their time in hot water, she figured a woman this beautiful must go to great lengths to preserve it, and hot spring just happened to present the perfect means to that end. One among many, "I'd tell you how you should visit more often, how it does wonders for your skin, but then... You hardly need that latter bit now, do you?", a soft, elegant chuckle punctuated her statement, and she couldn't help but turn her head to her friend, who she'd long found to be far more bashful than her aloof demeanor might entail.

The girl looked especially beautiful when she blushed, perhaps those minute displays of emotion came scarcely enough to look even more valuable and unique. Stray beads of sweat formed on her face every so often, and before long Alisa closed her eyes and brought some of the water to her face:

"So... What were you up to during the war...?", she'd inquire after hearing the girl's earlier reply, showing another trace of curiosity, hoping their guildmaster wouldn't have found herself involved in the fighting. One might think how if she had, they might have had a chance to stop Grimoire from killing the king... But after learning what manner of king had truly died there, Alisa knew nobody would miss him muc.

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

Of course, Snowflake wasn’t a lewd person—far from it, actually. To most people, she was a woman who radiated confidence and arrogance, and virtuous at the same time; one would have easily thought that indecent thoughts never occurred to her mind, which was true. Albeit, being in her pre-adult years, she was still curious in nature, as she always has been and was eager to learn and see things around her. Her relationship with her lover regarding their intimacy in bed hasn’t made much progress since their first time together. She felt as if it wasn’t exactly her forte and being someone who grew up very impassive, she couldn’t understand how sexual relationships worked, nor was she interested in them either.

Only a simple nod that went unnoticed upon Alisa’s question and neatly folded her kimono, careful not to cause any wrinkles on her precious clothing before placing it inside the locker. Her porcelain skin was flushed pink due to the hot temperature of the water. For someone who hasn’t entered a hot spring for several months, it was far too hot for comfort, especially for someone who utilizes ice magic on a daily basis. But soon, her body would finally get used to the temperatures and she’d finally learn how to relieve her stress all over again. And yet, another content sigh left her lips once again.

”Oh, really?” the female asked. The only reason she visited hot springs was to release stress and well, technically to clean herself, but she was never aware of the wonders it does to her skin. ”Interesting. I should definitely visit more often,” she agreed before adding, ”Likewise. You seem like you don’t need any of these with that beautiful complexion of yours.” Even after all the battles and fights that they had engaged before, Alisa always remained flawless; she’d hardly seen her with any battle scars or even a scratch—she truly wondered how.

She used to have several scars herself on her back, which she gained during the transition process from a human to a machia. Now that she’d obtained a new body, she was able to take care it more often than she used to before, as if it were her own. Snowflake submerged herself further into the waters, letting the water burn her skin, though in a nice way. The tips of her hair were drenched wet and upon contact with water, it would turn a darker shade of gray.

”…” she opened her mouth to give a reply to Alisa’s question, only to close it again. ”I wasn’t there… During that period, I was caught up with my own problems and remained idle. I heard rumours about the war, but I never had a chance to confirm the details with anyone.” A pause. Hesitance seeped through her and she wasn’t sure if she should inform Alisa about what was happening to her, and her body. ”A while back, I met the man who helped me transform into a machia. The same person got me out of that body and placed me into a new one...which happened to be a vessel of a demon.” It was something that she’s never discussed with Alisa, nor anyone else apart from Chelvaric.

She felt ashamed to tell it to anyone else, and believed that she would be viewed differently if people were to hear that she was a demon. It wasn’t as if she wanted it either. There was no other choice left, but she’s learnt to come to terms with herself and accepted for what it was. ”Were you involved in it?” A part of her wish that Alisa wasn’t. It was dangerous to be any related to the situation, but even if she had been, seeing her friend here meant that nothing alarming happened.

Alisa

WORDS: 700 | TAG: @snowflake | BATH HOUSE

Alisa lowered herself into the water, slowly but surely, almost imperceptibly so... The temperature numbing her body the whole way, she'd sigh and lay back relaxedly, resting her arms on either side of the edge. Though she looked just as flushed as Snow if not more so, the sculptress seemingly relished this sweltering heat despite lacking any natural tolerance for it. Even with visible trickles of sweat forming on her face, trailing down her smooth, glistening skin, that smile on her face only widened:

"My, you flatter me~", she'd reply, the water stirring around as she raised one hand to her chest, the other waving about in dismissive humility. Honing her body as such, nurturing her beauty just like she'd sharpen her strength as a fighter... One could argue Alisa truly lived for such, and one wouldn't stand too far from the truth.

And just like Snow wondered, Alisa too struggled to reach a point where she could defeat most without them laying a hand on her. But the sculptress saw this not so much as a way to preserve her beauty, but her pride most of all. But just like the guild master, she too wouldn't hesitate to undergo a mechanizing transformation if that meant the difference between failing or succeeding her quest. Luckily for her, she had yet to require it...

"Oh...?", she tilted her head, raising an eyebrow, sensing there was more to this story. She could spot that tinge of uncertainty on the pale beauty's face. Out of respect for her, Alisa refrained from prying into her personal life, merely glancing down at the steamy water around them, "For what it's worth, I'm glad you managed to avoid it..."

In the end, Snow overcoming her reserved nature caught Alisa off guard, brow widening slightly not only at her story, but the fact she had shared it with her. She knew the girl had lost her cybernetic prosthetics and likely for a good reason: She couldn't train a mechanical body any further than she could upgrade it. But then had she simply become a human? Reversing the cyberization process sounded far more complicated that undertaking it, so her reversal must have been mostly magical... With this thought in mind, she was likely to have become a human again as she was to have turned into something else entirely...

She seemed far too comfortable with the sun to be a vampire, and lacked that unmistakable ears of elves or neko, or the colossal height of a giant. Her aura had undergone a distinct change though, having taken a frigid, almost unsettling vibe no human or Seraph could pull off...

"Well, that explains how you did away with your mechanical body...", noted the sculptress, eyes trailing off into the sky for a brief moment, tilting her head back lazily. Clearly, Alisa's lack of surprise hinted at how on some level, she already suspected her newfound demonic heritage, and her lack of apprehension clearly revealed how she thought no less of her for it. Her smile didn't fade for a second, and her next words explained why, "Don't let that bother you too much. Regardless of how others view them, a demon's power is simply power. Only the will behind that power truly matters; what you do with it is up to you."

Indeed classifying power as good or evil - even as right and wrong - often proved a futile, if not hypocritical effort. The hero who single handedly turns the tide of battle will be seen as a demon by the vanquished enemy... A revolutionary, devastating weapon can be a boon or a bane depending on which side you stand. Snow may have a demon's strength, but Alisa clearly wouldn't judge her for it. Not like the way she judged herself for her inability to use her own power... To make a difference in that war:

"I was, for all the good it did...", she admitted, rubbing her neck unassumingly, "When the battle ended, I realized we shouldn't have been helping either side, but fighting them both."

As she uttered these words, she couldn't help look at Snow, wondering how much she knew of the secretive slavery and the old government's endorsement of it...

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

The dark haired beauty seemed glad that Snowflake wasn’t involved in the war, but she, herself wasn’t so sure about it. She regretted not joining the fight alongside others, especially her guildmates, albeit it could have been dangerous when she was struggling to control the demon within her. Now that all had settled well, perhaps it might not be that bad of a decision to lay on the sidelines, though a part of her still ashamed for not being fully responsible as a guild master. Either way, sharing Alisa a part of herself felt as if a burden had been lifted of her shoulders, as could be seen by a relieved sigh escaping from her lips.

Despite how Snow felt unwilling to share that information to anyone, she trusted Alisa enough to fill in on some details of her disappearance and inactivity. After all, she was the closest friend with the longest relationship she’d ever had. Even without words being spoken, Alisa always seemed to understand what her actions meant so effortlessly, as if she’d actually known her since childhood. Well, truthfully Snowflake was quite young when she was recruited by Lance, so Alisa might have watched her grow up at the same time—just like an older sister.

Alisa didn’t seem surprised with her confession, which was to be expected for her. For the longest time, Snowflake had always been worried about how others might view her due to her transformations, and her Pegasus guild mate here always exceeded her expectations. The woman simply comforted her and rewarded her with an understanding smile, as if she knew all the reasons to her decisions—the same way how she had acted when Snowflake revealed about her machia transformation. She knew Alisa would never judge her for who she was, whether she was a demon or a creature of another dimension.

”Do you know you always give the best advice?”

The woman gazed up into the empyreans above. She loved how the hot springs was in an open area, and how she could enjoy the beautiful sky and the puffs of white cushions drifting by. The wind that blew across the vicinity soothed her like no other and cooled her body down from the bubbling water. It felt refreshing, now that she was more used to the temperature of the water.

”I don’t know. I feel like I should’ve participated and did something—not like it would have done much, but still,” the woman rubbed her forehead in frustration. ”Well, I suppose we won the battle.” She felt like she had missed a decade of information, when there were so many things going on at the same time left and right. ”The emperor’s death might have been remorseful, but I suppose it was for a better cause.”

WORDS: 600 | TAG: @snowflake | BATH HOUSE

She'd have undoubtedly made a difference in fighting the enemy henchmen - perhaps even enough to defeat Zade at that one time they met in battle - but that alone would have little to no impact on the grand scheme of things. Merely assassinating the King seldom endows one with such complete control over the country... But the Grimoire leader had something few other revolutionaries could boast about: Royal blood, and a high enough place in the line of succession, a place the current establishment had stripped away from him, giving him all the authority he could ever need in the aftermath. Even had the mages successfully defeated all of the Grimoire enemies, a successful assassination of the unloved monarch would make his council liable to support the pretender.

Going against him and his newfound popular support effectively meant political suicide, if not death. The man used this to his full advantage, and even now the sculptress wondered just how much he genuinely opposed slavery, or just used its abolition as an excuse to seize power...

Perhaps they might one day learn the answer to this question, an answer which presently stood too far out of their reach. How did Snow even feel about it...? Did she care? She showed little concern for who sat on the throne, at least, when compared to the idea of her guildmates going to war... Alisa couldn't help but smile, knowing her guild master had a good set of priorities, perhaps better than Alisa's.

After all this time, she struggled to still think of Snow as her junior. She saw her as an equal, someone whose power she respected, who she trained hard to surpass. A mutual feeling that drove them to ever greater heights in a desire to surpass one another. Thus, hearing such earnest praise from her lips got a humbled look from the taller sculptress. She raised one hand over her chest, drifting around behind her neck with a soft splash across the water's surface:

"Well, I wouldn't say best, but I welcome the sentiment~", half modest and half confident, Alisa appreciated her compliment regardless, winking playfully as a graceful giggle escaped her lips.

She had been praised for her wisdom on occasion, yet Alisa herself merely viewed herself as pragmatic, open minded and introspective, prone to losing herself in deep musing. As she nurtured a talent for scrying beneath the surface, she avoided distracting politics or ideology when objectively seeking the truth, or at least as close to it as she could possibly reach. In the end, she could only reach a single conclusion when thinking about this war:

"Neither the current King nor his predecessor are truly worthy of his title.", stated Alisa; back then, she had two reasons for getting involved with that war, and loyalty to the old tyrant was neither of them. She held a personal vendetta against Grimoire Heart over Blue Pegasus, guild which for better or worse had swore loyalty to the Crown. The ageless institution which the last couple of kings had been all to eager to disrespect and undignify... Alisa sighed, resting one arm behind the edge of the spring and turning to face Snow, even so slightly, "But I suppose we can feel glad the worse of the two has been removed from his seat... But removing the awful doesn't turn the less awful into a good alternative."

Seeking the snowy woman's gaze, Alisa smiled, the slightest hint of curiosity drawing on her flushed face, glistening with a steamy sheen:

"So, what do you wish to about the new leadership...?", she'd inquire, tilting her head slightly as a dark, wet strand of hair came loose from behind her ear. The pledge towards the Crown which forced Blue Pegasus to come to its defense... That same crown now rested atop the head of an usurper responsible for the death of their Guild Master.

As Guild Master, Snow had every right - perhaps even duty - to reconsider the nature of this allegiance...

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

Despite how Snowflake had never shown an interest in politics, whoever sat on the throne was of importance as it does significantly affect the citizens of Earthland. The act of the coronation of the new king could be for the better, or for worse, but one thing for certain was that Blue Pegasus was in no good terms with Grimoire Heart, considering after what happened at the war and seeing their enemy sitting on top of the throne would only do so well to anger her. Nonetheless, Snowflake had discarded her past and learnt to forgive…but not forget—no, she would never forget how they had mercilessly slain their previous guild master and how the event had caused the members to shed tears and mourn for their loss.

She could only imagine how much it had affected both Alisa and Finn; the blonde especially, knowing how close they were back then.

It wasn’t as if Snowflake could do anything even after she had discovered that a Grimoire sat on the throne—after all, they had pledge loyalty to the crown and to cause chaos would only mean that there would be war and bloodshed. Unlike herself, the dark haired maiden seemed awfully interested in politics and how her views were on the new king and it was rather apparent that Alisa disliked; perhaps even loathed the current leadership. ”…Why’d you think he’s not worthy?” she squinted her eyes slightly and leaned back further onto the rock behind her. It wasn’t the fact that she doubted her opinion, but merely her curiosity to see for the other female’s reasons.

”I’m quite neutral about the Crown myself,” spoke the ice mage before adding, ”If I’m not wrong, I heard that the ruler and his accomplices saved the lives of many citizens of Earthland. He’s on the side of the civilians…is he not?” There was almost a hint of uncertainty in the tone of her voice. The information she had gathered from were either from drunk men in pubs or random strangers walking through the streets at night; surely, she could hold no trust in their words.

Alisa might be the only one she knew who seemed to be strongly against the current leadership, and she couldn’t blame her. After what Grimoire Heart did to their own guild, Snowflake could only sympathise with the young female to understand a part of how she felt. ”Anyways, enough about the government,” her eyes glided towards the side where they laid a row of wooden stools and buckets; all the materials needed to wash themselves up. Their encounter was to relieve their stress, not to engage further into the mundane world of civics and politics. ”Would you like me to scrub all the impurities off your body?” she teased out of amusement, the line of her lips tilting upwards into a small smirk as she rose herself out of the water.

Alisa

WORDS: 700 | TAG: @snowflake | BATH HOUSE

Alisa defenitely cared more about politics than she did about the politicians; thinking on what it might feel like to rule a nation, to bear a burden as heavy as a crown on your head... Such often gave way to deep wondering what short or long term advantages a ruler may gain from their decisions, and more importantly, what good may come for the country at large, perhaps at the ruler's expense:

"Even assuming he sought this reforms with an earnest wish for change; a man's kindness can never erase the pile of corpses he left in his wake. He still must answer to those he wronged, to the loved ones of those he abandoned in that pile.", mused the sculptress, looking down from the now starlit sky, into those steely blue eyes of the snowy beauty

Only those who should kill are those prepared to die.

The King himself had echoed this view; one Alisa always held close to her heart: A principle incompatible with turning a blind eye to the fallen, even in the face of the killer's redemption. Perhaps one day, another may come to her and seek vengeance for the many lives she took; and even now, she couldn't help wonder when or if that day may come... But as it stood, one couldn't simply assassinate the King:

"Alas, I have yet to see anyone who could responsibly replace the current King for the better...", she sighed, shaking her head and resting it on her palm, laying her elbow outside the hot springs, visibly captivated by the momentary debate as the two explored their political views, "Simply killing all slave masters won't really end slavery, unlike what they'd have you believe. They themselves probably know this just as well... If anything, most of the former slaves have now gained but a single choice: Choose your slave master - reciving a meager pay for equally gruelling work -.or starve to death.", and indeed, there had been no new laws to prevent this inequality from happening; in the end, the new King's supposed concern for his subjects only went so far, "Human nature allowed the horrors of slavery to spring forth, and no manner of law can change that nature overnight."

But in the end, Alisa merely nodded... She could tell Snow was far from interested in politics, unlike Alisa to whom just about any complex subject could fuel her scrutinizing, contemplative mind into long winded dissertations. But she reined it in, letting them drift off into a casual subject, just as Snow's gaze drifted away from Alisa's eyes of ruby. She followed that gaze, narrowing her eyes as she looked for whatever might have caught the girl's attention.

But Snow beat her to it, with a genuinely surprising offer; she saw her guildmaster as among the most reserved peoople she knew, hardly the kind who'd share this measure of intimacy, even with a close friend. The innate show of trust visibly touched her, but Alisa stood true to herself and took it all in stride; responding with an equally playful wink:

"What impurities~? I'm a paragon of purity~", answering with her own jest, absent the slightest ounce of shame as she rose up, water splashing as she bared herself from under the faint cloak of mist. With her hip pushed to one side and her hand on the other, every bit of her pose oozed confidence in those words. Nonetheless, she'd give Snow a proper, earnest answer after an amused giggle, "Actually, I'd very much appreciate it."

But where one girl might withhold this offer from all but those closest to her, so did the other normally refuse most people's touch. An unspoken show of trust scarcely ever given to others, shown here to each other. As she walked up to the benches, she'd sit down over one and rest her hands on her lap, calm and welcomingly allowing the girl freedom to scrub her back...

"Like this...?", she'd ask, casually looking over her shoulder

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

Seeing Alisa completely engaged into their conversation of politics, the ice mage wondered if things would turn out different if the dark haired sculptress were to be the guild master. Not only was she a strong mage herself, she was acquainted with many people that Snowflake could only imagine having, and her social skills were far from being dull, unlike a fellow silver haired female. The woman could only wonder why the position was given to her, albeit, it wasn’t as if she disliked receiving the title—she would be lying if she said she didn’t enjoy being the master. There was a certain authority that she had in this position; one that she had always aspired to have ever since she was young.

To be a leader was what she craved, nevertheless, she had her own doubts of whether she deserved to be one or not. Snowflake was all but young when she received the title, and even now, there were still many things that she has yet to learn and experience. Though she may be a guild master for the moment, it was only temporary. Masters were respective to change eventually, and she assumed that her job would soon be over.

”Fair enough,” she began, nodding at her comrade’s statement. Alisa seemed to be well-informed about the current emperor, which was no surprise, and it was one thing that she liked about her; she could always trust her with information, unlike the rumours from the streets.

”I agree, I don’t think there’s anyone yet to replace the king.” In an era thriving with magic and mages, finding a candidate for the throne was rare and difficult as one could possibly imagine. Perhaps one of the future masters might be the one ruling the country, and hopefully, it’s not one from a dark guild. ”How do you get all the information?” the woman smiled briefly, surprised at Alisa’s knowledge about the happenings over the country. ”Do you have your little spies in the castle?”

That aside, the crystal mage was correct.

Even after all these years, slavery was far from being abolished and with the new king in place, she doubted that anything would change. While some were fortunate enough to be born into wealthy families, the majority was living in poverty, or struggling their lives to make a living, and it was only the royals and nobles that received the most benefits with the littlest efforts. Life was unfair; nothing was fair and the only thing that Snowflake wished to do for these people was to make their lives a little bit easier.

The frosty maiden hadn’t expected Alisa to play along with her joke, but that only made their little hot spring adventure all the more interesting. Water splashed around her as she rose her being and scooted over to the oaken stools, grabbing a clean brush in hand. With Alisa’s porcelain back faced towards her, the woman simply nodded, ”Perfect”, before she began put her hands into motion. ”How come you’re so interested in politics?” she would begin to strike up a conversation, her hands gently brushing aside the other female’s charcoal hair over her shoulder. ”Is it a topic you’re keen into lately, or do you have any future plans regarding to it?” To her, Alisa appeared to be a laid-back type who always seemed to be enjoying the moment; one who doesn’t share so much of herself and she often wondered if Alisa had any resolutions for the nearby future, as ambitious as she knew her to be—just like herself.

Alisa

WORDS: 700 | TAG: @snowflake | BATH HOUSE

Indeed, she was right. That small, three letter word perfectly illustrating Alisa's mindset, a conclusion anyone insightful enough could arrive with only the slightest bit of urging:

"Good choice of words~", Alisa smirked, as Snowflake instinctively followed Alisa's own trail of thought without any further assistance. Perhaps she'd been growing into her role as guild master, or perhaps she'd always had that talent to begin with, but more importantly, Snow had a far better aptitude for politics than she gave herself credit for. Indeed, the first step is something as simple as having your own opinion, "Connections~", she giggled, winking knowingly, finding further details were unnecessary.

The same connections she used to find dark mages as a bounty hunter often provided a treasure trove of information on other matters as well, needing little incentive beyond a pouch full of jewels. And Alisa had no shortage of wealth with which to buy her information... But chief among all these stood one particular source accessible to every interested citizen:

"And newspapers, more importantly. Not all of them are truly impartial and you should defenitely take them with a grain of salt, yet if you read enough of them, you'll have more than enough for a well informed opinion."

She figured she might as well let the subject rest for now, but ultimately, it appeared the sculptress' interest had piqued Snowflake's interest, and the sculptress merely leaned back ever so slightly, just a little bit, not enough to hamper Snow's effort in any way:

"It seems quite unlike me, does it not...?", acknowledged the sculptress, musing to herself. She reached around her back and assisted Snow in brushing that straight, flowing mass of hair away; scooping and and pulling it towards her front as she glanced skywards... Indeed for for a woman who strove so hard to distance herself from others, one would hardly expect her to take an interest in the art of governing a whole society. While she cared too little for the people to ever become a politician herself, she cared enough for the intellectual challenge of understanding rulership in all its intricacies, "...But when your enemies take over the government, you start wanting to beat them at their new game... In the end, you'll find it quite interesting once you start minding the actions of rulers and hopeful rulers; thinking of their impact on the populace, how they manage that public opinion and achieve their ambitions without being overthrown... Truly presents a rather interesting mental exercise, a challenge even."

Of course, nothing amused her quite as much as the girl's next question, upon which Alisa laughed heartily, hand reaching up to her mouth as was her habit:

"My, my~... Worry not, I have no plans of usurping the throne, or any silly ambitions of the sort~ I don't know about you, yet I try not to plan too far ahead. Life has a way of turning all your carefully drawn plans upside down...", not to mention her lack of noble heritage - or even full Fiorian blood - would effectively inviabilize such an ascencion by any means other than conquest... And the sculptress knew this, almost as much as she knew Snow probably understood governance better than her, "Plus, I'm quite certain you understand what it means to lead far better than I ever could~"

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

The white haired woman smiled knowingly; partly out of amusement, but clearly acknowledging the fact that Alisa was amicable in many ways possible, which was one of the reasons why Snowflake could rely on her intel. ”Newspapers, eh?” she nodded sparingly. The ice mage was a lover of books, but not necessarily newspapers, as she strongly believed the information written on the pages were either propaganda or words twisted from the media—fear and misdirection. They’ll tell you who to hate, who should live and die—show the world how the enemy is barbarous and the powers that control their lives are heroes. She couldn’t believe the stories written on the news; every day when you read them, you see only a partial story, like the first three envelopes.

”Hm, I’ll heed your advice,” was what she said and promised herself that maybe, she would learn to absorb the information on the newspapers once again, like she did before.

Snowflake could only raise her eyebrows, impressed by her friend’s statement. Truly, it felt like Alisa and herself really thought alike in matters like this, yet the crystal beauty already had her beaten in intellect and perception of the situation. Albeit, the priority of her own was to ensure the safety of the townsfolk, most importantly, her own guildmates more than witnessing the defeat of her enemies.

Droplets of water cascaded down Alisa’s web-like, dark strands of silky hair softly and the drops slowly made their way down to her hourglass body that she attained. As she scrubbed the bath sponge against her skin, foams of soap grew larger and larger until it completely concealed her hand. ”I hope I’m not scrubbing too hard,” spoke the female with a nervous chuckle. Of course, she didn’t want to ruin her perfect skin.

”Why not?" the question slipped her lips almost immediately after her response. ”I think you’d be the perfect candidate.” It was no lie, and it wasn’t because she was being modest simply due to the reason that Alisa was her close comrade. It was because she was her friend that she wanted to let her know that she had her utmost support. Though her fellow guildmate may not be a highborn nor an aristocrat, but to the snow haired maiden, she believed that Alisa would have deserved the title of the crown—if that were to happen, that is. ”In case you get the chance, you should go for it.”

Indeed, she was the guild master of Blue Pegasus, and has been for a while now nonetheless, she can’t really take credit for the title, for she felt like she hasn’t done much as a proper master should. Leading and protecting was meant to be her job, although she couldn’t recall herself performing any of that. ”I don’t really know if I’m suitable to be the master honestly…” she spoke her mind out loud, without the intention of her words being heard. The woman thought about those things while she continued to clean Alisa’s body thoroughly. Completely immersed in her thoughts, she had almost forgotten that her hands were in contact with a foreign body other than her own and somehow, she seemed comfortable with that more than she had originally expected.

Indeed, the media are biased, some more than others... Alisa read enough to understand this, yet also she and Snow both knew only sheep let others tell them what to think or feel. Though laws and their own reputations usually prevents flat out lies, journalists were free to interpret facts as they saw fit, which often hinged on their own political opinions. There's a limit to how much even the most radical of papers can vocalize negativity against the ruling powers, after all... That's why she read different ones, and also had her own connections capable of making any journalist jealous.

For Alisa, defeating the guild's enemies was merely the simplest way of protecting them; ensuring those who killed their members disappeared entirely. By avenging the fallen, she'd defend those left behind. But this didn't change the fact that going out to hunt would leave those she hoped to defend truly exposed. Thus where Alisa was the sword, Snow was the shield. Between the two of them, as well as Finn and Chel, they had more than enough with which to protect their home even should the whole government become their enemies.

Yet she found it hard to think clearly on the subtleties of politics with such skilled hands washing her back.

More so than filth, Snow's scrubbing eased away the tension built up in her muscles from her extensive physical regimen. Letting someone wash her like this was a rare experience indeed, and as foam trickled down the smooth alabaster skin, Alisa couldn't help but lean a bit further fowards, as her foreams came to rest lazily upon her lap. With her care, Snowflake applied just the right amount of pressure to make the sculptress melt under her touch, and Alisa naturally dismissed her concern with reassuring satisfaction:

"Mmm~... Quite the opposite.", she'd reply, all but purring as her smile widened into a palpably pleased expression, with even her eyes fluttering closed, "My, Snow... You have a magic touch~"

To think she could have such an interesting conversation with the close friend she rarely saw, while the girl was kind enough to wash her back... She'd return the favor later, obviously, but for now she'd much rather let the words flow out her mouth. This time, she couldn't help an earnest, amused laughter, even raising one hand over her mouth:

[color=pink]"I doubt I'd be a good Queen~", Alisa replied in a down to earth moment of rare humility, gazing skywards with a longing smile. The same reason she never stepped forward after Lance's passing, nor would have accepted the title of Guild Master... She loved her personal freedom far too much to give it away, even for the good of the many, [b]"The throne would remain empty most of the time... And a land with no King is no Kingdom.", and if her own inadequacy weren't enough, Alisa had a while other problem to deal with, something Snow had no doubt already figured out as well, "Plus, I'm only half Fiorian~"

While the matter of whether the a leader should stand beside his men on the front line or lead from behind castle walls was up for debate, one thing was certain. A leader - and a King chief among all - had a very particular set of unavoidable responsibilities. Many seek to rule despite having no aptitude for it, but smarter people like Alisa they'd best leave leadership for those better suited for the job:

"When you were willing to look past revenge and focus on the survivors - on the state of the guild - you proved the exact opposite. To walk alone means shedding too many resposibilities towards your family, to fight for them from an independent standpoint", a clear illustration of how she viewed herself and Finn, looking back and smiling reassuringly, casually running one hand down her bundled up hair, "That alone makes you a far better guildmaster than most of us could ever be..."

Snowflake

Beyond The Sun & Stars

”Glad to be of service,” the frosty woman uttered, relieved when she suspected herself of having brutish hands; but thankfully not, according to Alisa’s compliment. Indeed, scrubbing someone else’s back was a rare experience for her, especially when she was a woman who did not like being in any sort of contact—not to mention skin-to-skin—with anyone else. Nonetheless, Alisa was one of the exceptions, just like her beau and she couldn’t help but find it strange enough that she was enjoying the act; perhaps because it was something that she had always wanted to try with someone close.

Growing up without friends, Snowflake envied those around her who were different from herself. While she was reading books alone in the library, her classmates would be playing in the park amongst themselves. A quiet girl with an eccentric personality, she never thought that being alone would bother her—it didn’t, until her parents passed away in an accident which made her realise how truly alone she was. Perhaps it was then that she began to crave a kind of friendship that blooms in the center of your heart: that kind of friendship that grows from the seed basking in the warm soil to a vast tree with many ups and downs, many—but not enough to disguise the enormity or the grandeur of such a tree, the sheer brilliance and beauty of it.

Seeing how far she’d come from being an isolated child, she couldn’t be any prouder of herself. Though it was mostly Chelvaric who helped blossom her, her beloved ones; those she came to treasure close to her heart, and whom she could call as her friends were also a big part of it. While she busied herself with the scrubbing work, she thought about those things. Reaching for the tap, she let the water flow into the bucket that she’d place below, checking the temperature to make sure that it was warm enough before pouring it over Alisa’s back to wash away the soap.

It should be squeaky clean, she hoped.

Snowflake knew that Alisa enjoyed her travels far too much that it would be near impossible to make her remain in one location, which was possibly the main reason why she declined to be the guild master. Personally, the snow haired woman saw no problem with it, considering how she, herself was also one who disliked being grounded to a single place, though she wouldn’t have minded much even if that were to happen. The young maiden only smiled at her words. Alisa had her own doubts and Snowflake would question no further, but a part of her felt that if she were to try, she would achieve it, although it wasn’t as if she could completely convince the taller woman.

”You are? So…you’re not from here.” It was the first time she was ever informed of it, as infrequent Alisa shares about herself. Albeit, it was of no surprise, considering how she assumed that possibly half the citizens in the country are either mixed or from another region. Within the realm of possibility, Snowflake could even be half Fiorian as well, though she highly doubted it.

”Oh, Alisa…” the woman trailed off, breathing out a long sigh, completely flattered by her remarks. ”You’re being too nice and you flatter me too much.” The ice mage gently relocated her dark locks of hair over shoulder, her fingers brushing over her spine. Thinking back, she felt that it was the safest decision she could make, especially when everything was amiss and the advent of war that hung thickly over their heads. Lives of their own people had been lost already and the state of the guild would be put in danger if they were to go to war.

Indeed, if Alisa were the sword, Snowflake would be the shield for the guild.

Alisa could obviously relate; even though she and Snow had never openly discussed this mutual distaste, some of their shared traits all but implied it. The sculptress too detested others getting their hands on her for no good reason: She avoided mingling with them and naturally that extended to physical contact as well. With all the care she put into her skin, grooming her beauty to its peak, why should she allow strangers to randomly touch her?

Unlike Snow though, she didn't exactly envy those who made friends more easily, quite the opposite: Alisa accepted she'd much rather be alone than in ill company, her aloof nature leaving her far more at ease with silence and solitude as her only companions. That said, she couldn't deny that warmth, that almost fuzzy feeling of having someone you like scrubbing your back squeaky clean. As much as she'd grown used to the cold - thrived in it even - sometimes she wanted to open up to those select few she could actually trust. With her body, with her soul... Even with her past:

"I am, but... My father's family came from the far North, from the frozen lands of Iceberg.", she explained, closing her eyes as another free flowing stream poured down her back like a waterfall, sighing and finally, gazing skywards. With a soft, musing smile, she though on the arduous journey her grandparents and their children much have had, the hardships they endured to reach this lush, vibrant lands of the south.

Alisa had been born and raised in Fiore, yet her appearance suggested a foreign heritage many wondered about, but none bothered to ask her about it. Well, not that she'd have answered most people, but Snowflake was fine though. Indeed after all this time, she couldn't help but look at the girl as her little sister.

"I speak only the purest truth sweetie~", replied the sculptress, chucking, all but charmed by how endearing Snow looked at that point. Resting her hands upon the stool, she turned around in a slow and graceful motion - tinged with that hint of sensuality she could never quite get rid of - stylishly crossing her legs as her hands once more came to rest upon her lap, "So... I hope you never feel as if you're unworthy of your seat. You have made it rightfully yours."

Snow had taken pretty good care of her. As she ran her hands around her neck and fully brushed her long, wet hair behind her once more, Alisa looked into the girl's icy blue eyes. Snow rarely showed any hint of emotion, and Alisa had never truly glimpsed her humilily before.
Even a cool, chilly woman could look cute like this, hmm...? Her smile widened as she turned her head, looking over the countours of her face as if commiting them to memory to inspire her next piece of art. The hot springs alone already felt soothing enough, but at this point, she felt like the Ice mage's scrubbing had thoroughly eased off any lingering tension:

"Now then... Turn around~", asking a question without really asking as she so often did, the sculptress leaned over the bucket Snow herself had used, picking up a fresh sponge, "So I can properly thank you for that wonderful cleansing."
