Varian
Varian strolled through the gardens, he gripped a simple discription of a sword in his hand. The sword was long a bout a meter and a half in length. The handle was worn black leather. And the hilt had been specially made out of black iron. The sheathe was made from the same material as the handle, black leather. According to the man Varian helping, Armin was his name, the old sword had been stolen by a white dog with a brown spot on its left thigh. Varian sighed, this was going to be more work than he wanted it to be. Taking a breath he touched the black mark that was under his collarbone. Brushing his fingers over the raised black surface, a cool tingle ran up his arm causing him to wrench his arm away. Closing his eyes he tried to remember whatever had come out of the book that night.

At first it had just been a mangled hand that emerged from the yellow flame. Then it slowly began to grow until a shoulder extended and bit by bit the rest of the body poured out of the flame and onto the floor. It was tall and lanky, its arms dragged along the floors. The entire thing seemed to be mutilated, like some half-baked science experiment, or some long forbidden monster locked away. Whatever it had been, it passed through him, after that everything went black, he had no idea if it was now inside him, or if it had left out the door. He ran his fingers over the raised black mark one more time. It resembled a typical magical circle, except along the edges, the runes cast a strong prison spell. The same familiar freezing chill ran up his fingers. Varian refused to pull away this time, with a swift push of his fingers he dug his pointer and middle fingers into the center of the mark. A freezing sense overcame him once more, and an unearthly howl escaped his mouth. It sounded like an animal being tortured, like whatever Varian had done had hurt it. One thing was for sure was that that was not Varian's own voice. While his was low, that was high pitched animalistic screech that would pierce your ears and drive you insane. Removing his shaling fingers Varian sucked in gasps of air. Black dots began to form in his visions, like holes burning away the painting. All the sudden he couldn't breathe, he was choking. He was choking! He began to claw wildly at his throat. The dots began to swirl around and grow bigger, blocking out entire parts of his vision. Slowly his fingers and toes began to grow cold, Was he dying? Varian could barely feel himself crying when Vega slipped in between his legs. Dragging him back out of whatever nightmare he had been in. Had it all been a dream? Varian shook his head, thouroghly confused. Giving Vega a pat he continued searching through the garden.

Wherever that dog had wondered to was certainly hard to find. Varian hoped he'd be able to find Armin's sword. Suddenly Vega tensed, she sniffed the air, with a growl she burst down the path and threw a bush, leaving a smoldering hole where she had leapt thorugh. Varian dashed after her. He was certainly fast, leaping over the bush like a hurdle with ease. He caught up to Vega who was sniffing wildly near a cross roads. "Anything?" He asked. Vega gave a disgruntled, "flare."
"I'll take that as a no then." Varian said. Suddenly Vega's ears twitched again and she jumped thorugh another bush leaving a smoldering hole once more. Varian leapt after her and they were soon on the heels on one fast dog, it was faster than Varian even, which was unusal, he thought of himself as pretty fast. Slowly but surely the dog became disoriented and tired of running and managed to corral itself in a small fenced off area full of rose bushes, so it was fortunately smart enough to stop running. But to Varian's surprise it was a rather nice dog and gladly dropped the sword with litte protest. With a quick pet and jealous glare from Vega Varain picked up the sword and left the gardens, he was tired and ready to read or comb Vega or something other than this.
Leaving quickly he walked towards where he was told to meat Armin. Stepping inside the building Armin sat at one edge, sipping on something. Whether it was alcohol or some kind of juice Varian didn't really care. Armin looked up and face of glee spread across his face as he saw his old sword returned to him. "Thank you good sir, here have this in return." He said quickly, he grabbed his sword and fit it snugly in place. "Thanks for the money, just make sure you don't lose it again." Varian said jokingly. Varian leaned down and picked up Vega who nestled up under his neck. Her warmth was comforting and Something Varian was grateful for, he was glad he found her. She might not have been able to understand it, or ever understand it, but she filled a hole in his life he didn't even know existed, it was terrifying but happy at the same time.

With a kick he opened up the door and placed Vega at the edge of the bed, while he took a bath and got ready to go to sleep. When he got out of the bath he climbed into bed where Vega sleep walked over to his pillow and curled up next to his head, giving him a sense of warmth. Taking a deep breath Varian fell slowly into a sleep, he was exhausted and this was a nice way to end the day. Reaching up he gave vega a quick scratch on the head which responded in a subtle chirp and the two fell quietly asleep, sharing their warmth. Varian fell asleep with a smile.
