Chelvaric Walderkat

Chelvaric was cutting up meat into small pieces while he was wearing a red apron with a sausage on it. It was his favorite cooking apron and he liked to wear it when he cooked for Snow. he didn’t know If she liked it or not though. But he hoped she did as he didn’t want to part with it. He looked out of the window to see the little snowflakes dwindle downwards toward the streets of Magnolia. It was still snowing even after all these days of snow. Chelvaric wondered when it would all end. If it continued like this they would be snowed in before they knew it and that was not something he wanted. As they would be stuck inside the house for all that time and who knows what would happen if he spends too much time with Snowflake at once. He didn’t want little snow babies yet after all. he smirked at the thought of it. Small elf demons running around. That would be a weird combination he thought but he wasn’t even sure if they would combine. He pushed all the weird thoughts out of his head and started to finish up his cooking before Snow would come into the kitchen.

Snowflake

The clouds loomed over the town of Magnolia like a gray veil. Dawn was just commencing, giving the city a little colour instead of the blacks and greys that greeted her when she came from the inn that they had rented for their stay in the city. As the assassin passed through the streets, the stranger in a white hood gained herself a crowd of stares—but, it was not out of fear nor because of her eccentricity. The gazes were friendly, some bowing out of honour, greeting Snowflake as they passed her still figure, herself being the master of a prestigious guild; Blue Pegasus. The woman tugged onto her hood further, her eyes hiding further behind the thick fabric.

The snow-white beauty had decided to give a stroll around the town, buying things along the way if needed to be. Somehow, today the streets appeared busier than usual—perhaps there was an event going on? If so, she would have been informed long before, so apparently, that did not seem to be the reason. From a distance, Snowflake could hear people duelling, to the loud encouragement of some and the furious curses of others, though it was the latter that filled the area instead.

Chelvaric Walderkat
Chelvaric was eating his meal as Snow didn’t turn up to the apartment. He wondered where she went as he thought she would come back home when he suddenly heard shouting in the distance. It seemed some event was going on that he didn’t know about. He finished his meal quickly and threw the dirty dishes into the sink and let the water fill it up to the brink before he left the apartment. It would be easier to wash them later if he did that. Now that he was walking outside he had to find the place where all the sounds where coming from. A lot of people were also walking in that direction so he wondered what was going on over in that place. Some people he passed were talking about a tournament. So it was something to do with a competition at least.

When he arrived he saw a big group of diverse people sitting on stands surrounding a ring. It looked awfully much like a boxing competition. He wanted to watch it also to see how the boxers would fight in the ring as he had the very bad hand to hand combat skills. But before that, he should find Snowflake. He was looking at the crowd but didn’t find her at first.

Snowflake

Intrigued, the white haired maiden wandered around swirls and eddies of people as she approached the crowd. Grunts and groans filled the area and it was almost as if they were having a wrestling contest. Having a petite body was quite the advantage, as she slipped past people with ease until she was in front with the scene right before her eyes. The townsfolk surrounded the stage, behind the fences that prevented anyone from approaching any further to the contenders or the stage. Stormy hues idly glided over the gathering audience and it just so happened to fall upon an elf man that just joined the crowd.

Snowflake hastily rushed all the way to where her beau was located and pulled at his arm, instantly causing him to turn around to face her. ”Sweet, I didn’t know you’d be here,” Just then, a man climbed up onto the stage, tapping onto his microphone and the crowd would immediately fall into silence as the host welcomed the audience and made the introduction of the game. Applause ripped over the crowd and the first competitors were invited onto the stage, followed by a loud cheer of encouragement for the contestants. The assassin wasn’t sure why she even bothered to be at a place like this; bizarre and loud, and she was never keen of crowds from the beginning, yet, she decided that she should enjoy the moment while she was here at the very least.

Chelvaric Walderkat
Chelvaric was still searching through the crowd as he didn’t know where Snow was at all. Maybe she wasn’t here after all but just when he wanted to go back he was pulled by his arm and he saw his girlfriend appearing in front of him while she was saying to him that she didn’t know that he would be here. “I thought you would be drawn to here so I came to look for you”, he said to her as he had missed her. He took her hand and they walked around the place as the first fight was about to begin. During their walk a small kid suddenly bumped into them while he was shaking his head and saying how things weren’t right.

Are you okay boy?”, Chelvaric asked of him to see what was wrong. The boy looked up at them and his eyes widened. “Are you a mage sir! I need your help!”, he shouted at Chelvaric all riled up. “Hold on babe. Yes kid we are mages, what is your name?”, he asked of the kid and he replied with a  big smile. “I am Tyler sir! I need someone to participate in the boxing tournament for me”, he said with a big smile as he seemed to have been searching for a long time. Chelvaric wondered why.

Snowflake

It seemed that Chelvaric had predicted that she was going to be here. Perhaps it was coincidence, as Snowflake had actually never planned to be in an area like this and it necessarily wasn’t a bad thing; apart from the loud cheers and the noises around her. The two began to walk around the ring, to get a closer look at the contenders when the couple were suddenly stopped by a young boy who still look like he was in his early teen years. Somehow, the child took a hint that they were mages, whether it was from their eccentric appearance or their clothes, but his interest in wizards pique her curiosity and raised a question within her: why was he searching for mages?

Chelvaric took the responsibility of talking the child out, asking for more information and whatnot, while Snowflake stood by and listened. Apparently, the child needed someone to participate in the tournament for him—but for what? ”Why’s that?” It wasn’t that Snowflake didn’t wish to be tangled in this kind of mess, albeit, she had been wanting to test our her new abilities after receiving a gain in strength in the few recent days.

”That boy,” he raised his finger towards the newest contestant on the stage and added, ”The majority don’t like his attitude, and neither do I. If it’s possible, I’d like you mages to win the match against him.”

Oh, that was more than an easy task for her.

Snowflake was questioning the boy and it seemed that the boy had seen the other boy do stuff that he didn’t like so they would solve that problem for him by defeating him. On the other hand, the boy was also a big fan of the last champion and he got beaten by a cheap trick by that guy. It seemed he had to teach a lesson of honor in fighting. The boy motioned them to follow him so they could sign up for the fight. They pushed through the crowd and were met with an odor of sweat and salty chips and beer as people were all sweating from shouting and jumping up and down even in the cold weather of winter. But that was fine at least people had something else to do than sit inside like every other winter day. Winter was a depressing time for some people and this would make it more enjoyable for them.

An old man was standing behind the registration desk and he showed the place on a contract that said they weren’t responsible for any long lasting damages to the bodies of the participants. Chelvaric smirked about that and signed the contract after which he gave the feather to Snowflake to sign the contract as well. In the meantime, they could watch the first match as they were getting started.

The couple observed and watched the first competition, and she could see that the match didn’t technically appear fair. It was a close match, though the boy won it by using cheap tricks which might not be that obvious to the audience who don’t have much experience with combat. To a trained eye, one could see the little loopholes between the moves and although she may not be a master in combat, she did have some experience battling against people; the war against Grimoire Heart and a little training match with a Lamia Scale, which had proven her more than useful.

Their registration was completed as they seated with the rest of the contenders and waited for the match to be over. Men of different shapes and sizes, lined up in queue, sweaty from all their work out. They almost appeared as if they were ready to kill their own. Once the first match was over, the next competitor was invited onto the stage to challenge the previous winner. ”I’ll take care of this, you sit somewhere and wait for me. It won’t take long,” she promised and with that, she walked into the ring where the crowd began applauding for her entrance. The audience seemed tense somehow, as if they weren’t satisfied with the result of the previous match. Well, she was here to make the majority happy, after all.

Chelvaric looked at the match that was going on. The man was quite slow for a boxer but it seemed he hit hard as it didn’t take him long to beat the opponent with a cheap punch to the face. if he would fight a professional it was quite clear he would lose since he was all depending on one hit to land. He wondered if he was able to beat the man but he didn’t have to think about that as Snow quickly said that she would take the fight. He didn’t really have a problem with that as he knew she was way more skilled in hand to hand fighting than him. He was more of a lay low on the back line and spam spells to his opponents. He would leave the heavy lifting to her since she wanted it.

He went and sat down on one of the chairs in the front row while he looked at the many bodybuilders that were preparing to fight. They had a lot of muscles to flex and seemed intimidating but boxing was about skill and knowing your opponent not pure about muscle. He was sure his slender girlfriend who looked tiny in comparison to them would prove to the public that was watching.

Snowflake

One wouldn’t expect a female to join a competition like this, since it was all about muscles and strength. A look at Snowflake and she doesn’t necessarily strike as a very muscled person nor had an athletic body, instead she was very petite albeit, her strength was not dependent on how bulky she looked but solely on how she chooses to fight. To be graceful and swift was her motto, fast on her feet and quick with her hands—just like an assassin. As much as she wished to use a blade of some sort to assist her, it was against the rules although it wasn’t much of a problem since she had more training with fists than with a weapon. The snowy beauty stood meters across her target, staring straight at his direction until the crowd began to settle down with the cheers.

A whistle blew off, and the match would finally begin.

She could kill him with ease in a mere second; a leap over his shoulders, entangle his neck with her legs and force him down onto the ground. The scene played in her head multiple times though she knew that her motive was something else—to drag the fight over 60 seconds. The woman relaxed her arms beside her and allowed the boy to take the first move, in which he decided to run straight towards her to deliver a punch. From the previous match, Snowflake had noticed how slow he moved, despite his strong punches and unfortunately for him, speed was her domain.

He saw how his girlfriend was entering the ring as it was finally her turn to fight. She looked so small in comparison to her opponent but he knew that looks could be very deceiving and he was already betting on her to win. He could hear some people scream to put money on the fight as was usual with boxing matches. He wondered if he should bet since he was quite certain that his girlfriend was gonna win this easy. He betted a thousand jewels on her as it was twenty to one odds for the guy. He would get twentyfold of his money if she would win.

On this side is Snowflake weighing in at 104 pounds who’s going up against the reigning champion Roderic weighing in at 140 pounds! ”, the announcer said after which the whistle was blown and the match had started. He could see Snow thinking about the fight but making sure she wouldn’t go in fast as he knew the guy was slow and she would just tire him out. She was a speedy person after all. He threw his first punch but he could see her easily dodge it. He already knew from this who was going to win.

Snowflake

Whoosh!

The boy’s fist flew right past her, barely a few inches away from her face albeit, Snowflake successfully dodged it without much trouble. Even before the start of the match, the boy was seen taunting her and she wasn’t going to lie—his attitude was horrible. She could have done a favour for the rest of the people by easily knocking him out, but first, she was going to make sure she completely shattered that confidence of his. Hell, Snowflake is an arrogant person herself, though she wasn’t as bad as to entirely forget being humble towards certain people. Whatever the reason was, she was going to win this battle certainly.

Numerous punches were thrown left and right, but the boy’s movements were so dreadfully slow that she could predict his attacks even before he throws his fists towards her. Seconds plodded by and the longer it went, the louder the cheers were from the audience for her. In a way, it motivated her to perform better than she already was. Frustration was apparent on the boy’s face and now he was only throwing punches out of anger, without thinking his moves properly. Sweat beads cascaded down from his face while Snowflake wasn’t even fazed by his attacks, though the last punch that he delivered took her a bit by surprise. It was stronger than the rest of his punches, as if he gave the last attack everything before he landed flat on the stage floor, bearing his defeat.

Chelvaric Walderkat
Chelvaric was looking at Snow as she wasn’t even trying her best in the fight. Not that she needed to do that anyway as she was simply dodging all his attacks with ease. He was punching to her brainlessly and not with any tactics whatsoever. Chelvaric had to chuckle about the child minded attacks he was delivering. It started to become a silly fight as he got more and more angerly over the course of the fight. Making his punches so randomly that it sometimes looked like he wasn’t even aiming at her at all. It wasn’t long after that the man threw a hard punch towards her but she made him fall flat on his face instead. It seemed that she had beaten him without even lifting a finger at him.

That showed how good her skills were as she could beat people without actually beating them up. the announcer came on to the stage and he was quite funny as he had a really big dog mask over his head. He was holding a big belt and handed it over to Snowflake together with a big bag of money. “Our new reigning champion is Snowflake! Can you give me a small comment on your victory?”, he asked to her through his dog mask. He found it really funny and he wondered how the guy looked underneath the mask and if it wasn’t to hot either. That on the side as he had won the bet and he made his way to the better guy who was clearly displeased that Snow had won since he had to pay out way more money than if the guy had won. He gave the money to Chelvaric and then wandered off cursing. Chelvaric walked back to his original position so he could hear what Snowflake had to say now that she had won.

Snowflake

Snowflake bowed towards the audience as they congratulated her on obtaining victory, throwing roses and tossing coins in her direction. The host would finally climb onto the stage with a large belt in hand, which she assumed was the reward of the competition. Although she was glad that she’d won the match, she sure as hell wasn’t going to walk around wearing that stupid belt. Moreover, she didn’t need to prove people that she won some silly competition and it was mainly because the other kid begged them to join the contest, in which she did and won it proudly and that meant that everything was over.

After rewarding the prize into her hands, the host requested her to give a comment on victory and so, she did. ”I’m grateful for the reward and prize money, and I’d like to thank those who’ve supported me,” she took a deep breath, almost sounding as if she was giving some kind of important speech and continued, ”…but I’d like to forfeit this belt to its original owner, its previous winner.” The mouths of the audience were gaped open, including the host and the young assassin would simply return the belt into his hands, though taking the prize money and left the arena. She approached her lover with the bag of jewels, in which the boy that requested their help thanked her before the couple walked back home.
