Under an oddly warm winter afternoon, on a lone corner of the great Baska Rock stood a warrior clad in pure white, gripping a sword of pure, black. News traveled fast in Fiore, and those of an impending attack on the capital even more so. Some of her colleagues had no doubt already made haste, but Alisa remained in Baska a bit longer, preparing herself for the war to come. Though she indeed felt much stronger now, she knew she'd need far more than this to endure an attack on this scale, undoubtedly bigger than the one in Hargeon. She'd need the ultimate defense to come out of this in one piece, but that not only meant a spell, but the most valuable armor all her jewels could buy.

This armor was supposedly magical, and according to the salesman supposed to harden her skin while she used it. Maybe that's true, maybe it isn't... She wouldn't know which until she tried it. The fabric was indeed gorgeous, as was the shimmering black katana that came with it: The former felt like a piece of heaven against her smooth, well tended skin, while the latter - strapped to her waist - look sharp enough to bissect whatever had the misfortune of standing in its path. The salesman only sold them as part of a set, which in turn obliterated any semblance of finances Alisa might have had. She still wasn't exactly poor, but definitely wasn't a millionaire anymore, at least when it came to liquid assets. It if this supposed armor performed as advertised, she'd have gotten her money's worth many times over:

"Lets give this a try...", Alisa thought out loud, thinking back to the chant the salesman taught her; her left hand reaching for her right bicep, where a set of three blue clasps stood well within reach. She knew what prying them open would do... And even then she still cringed at the thought, and winced when one by one three needles pierced into her skin, gritting her teeth slightly. An outfit made from living fibers, a creature as sentient as herself or her partner, Lumen... She found it hard to believe initially, but the moment it tasted her blood, she knew. Instantly, the fabric felt hotter, like it would burn her up. Immediately Alisa clenched her fist and lowered her stance, like she was drowning an endless sea of pain and blood lust, "Hnnnngh, Hah...!"

She felt something there... Something else... So much power... She couldn't believe somebody actually had an item like this stashed away in a shop. Alisa fully understood a weaker person had no chance of resisting this endless blood lust, and instantly succumb to the fabric's will.

"More blood...!! Feed me more!!!"

These commands echoed in her mind ad infinitum until her head hurt, yet Alisa didn't succumb. Not only did she resist the garment's ravenous will, but also any reasonable idea of taking it off... Assuming even could with how tightly it clung to her. No, she sensed its power the moment she fed it blood, nay, the moment she laid eyes on it

"Don't.... get carried away...! HAAAAAAAA!!!", steadying her stance, Alisa unleashed a bellowing Kiai, stretching her arms down to the side, releasing all that broiling pent up energy with an intense, thermobaric blast. As the dust clear, the sculptress merely panted, sweat dripping down her face and into the pure white fabric around her neck. A puff of steam formed over her mouth with every billowing exhale, the woman's cheeks yet flushed as they would after strenuous exercise. The fabric's voice had died down somewhat, leaving the sculptress in peace, but somewhat dazed from the experience. She looked at her arm, opening and clenching her fist experimentally... She felt, different, lighter... Better. Had she managed to harness the garment's power? As she wondered what had happened, a cool breeze against the her midriff caught her attention, drawing her head down, "Oho... And I'm supposed to wear this in combat? How perverted... This looks like something Asmodeus would come up with..."

Indeed it doesn't look like that much of an armor and Alisa wasn't too interested in testing that out in potentially life threatening situations... But as she had grown accustomed to wearing average clothes into battle, she figured she probably wouldn't feel any practical difference in the end. As for the garment itself, well, she had worn less than this for some photo shoots, and not even a tinge of shame tinted her cheeks. Yet filled with unflinching confidence in her figure, she instead felt only uncertainty towards the impractical nature of the outfit:

"Can I even move around in it...?", she wondered, tugging on the left blue strap before letting it snap back into place. Eyes filled with curiosity, she soon dashed towards a couple of meters away... Though she felt that rush of power as she initially transformed, she had no idea just how much stronger clothes made her. She predictably disliked running around with a loosened grip on her bust owing to how uncomfortable (and possibly slower) it made her... Yet despite the garment's... liberating cut, she not only felt none such struggle, but also noticed just how much faster it made her, stronger.

If that weren't enough, the jet ports on her back and shoulders ejected the excess steam from her overheating body, functioning like a thruster of sorts. Directions for the speed bursts were somewhat limited, by by channeling her mana through them Alisa found she could fly with relative ease, far more so than she would have with an average spell. Soon, merely flying around didn't satisfy her... A grassy, deserted area like this riddled with trees and boulders provided a perfect training ground, and before she knew it Alisa had thrown a punch at a single nearby boulder, then drew her sword and bissected a tree. With every dash, strike and turn, her movements grew faster, sharper as she got used to the feeling of this new armor.

She found both dashing around and flying exhausted her mana relatively quickly, meaning this mobility wasn't something she could wholly depend on, not when the rest of her armor bared so many of her vitals. No, she'd still need a powerful defensive spell to protect herself, and the moment she realized this, Alisa immediately thought back to what was easily the strongest spell in her arsenal.

Vajradeha...

Currently the most powerful spell in Alisa's arsenal, a fact that would most likely endure as such for a long time to come. Even now that Alisa thought up equally strong spells, her mind was far from matching that offensive minded technique's raw, unfocused power... Instead, she sought to tame a different kind of beast altogether. Vajradeha was indeed a powerful spell, enough to warrant a full bodied transformation from the sculptress of crystals, so she could safely wield that spell without risk of self injury. She crystallized her own body, skin and clothes all in one, yet despite its appearance, this spell did nothing to help protect her...

Indeed, it definitely had the right potential to deceive her enemies into thinking such, but after Alisa received injuries from the first hit, that illusion faded away like a puff of smoke under a strong breeze. Not today though. Alisa had clear understanding how S-rank level defenses were the strongest of all, not only in effectiveness, but something else entirely: Malleability. Unlike those of weaker rank, Alisa had seen mages wielding spells of this level properly managing the difficult task of controlling the shape of their mana and resulting element to wrap around their bodies, encasing them in the strongest defense imaginable. The crystal sculptress for one, already had a steady foothold from which to get started on this task.

First things first... Alisa clenched her first, and in a split second, under a persistent crackling sound, her body grew into a pure, adamantine white. She refrained from producing the whip immediately, instead containing and binding all of that power in her clenched fist just as she'd done the first time she thought up this spell. It had been a difficult training journey then, and she doubted it could get any easier this time around, since she was pretty much planning on doing the whole thing in reverse. The armor like transformation had come as a side effect of developing the intended damaging effect... But with this spell, Alisa already already knew she'd end up with a powerful offensive potential as a result of the initial desire for absolute defense: If by whatever means she grew unable to be damaged, this also meant she could execute attacks powerful enough to the point of self damage without risk of incurring said damage.

Definitely an alluring idea in theory, but however would it work in practice? Alisa had grown much stronger since the time when she mastered this spell, and yet using it still taxed her immensely... And here she was, about to double it up. Taking a deep breath, Alisa closed her eyes, her chest heaving up then down with every inhale and exhale. Slowly, she channeled another layer of mana, a monstrous amount of power matching that which she'd initially used for the first spell of S-rank level.

But grasping the two like this... Alisa had grown accustomed to wielding the first one, and so when she flexed her free arm in front of her face, she already knew how to hold all that power in there. But the, came a different problem... Balance... Before she could get to distributing this power throughout her body, she had to ensure the amount of mana in both arms remained even. Too little on either side, and one of the spells would either fail, or lose its effectiveness... But too much, and she could easily lose control of such a massive spell, enough to hurt herself and what little friends she yet have that might be fighting with her. And ultimately ensure her enemies would get the last laugh. Alisa gritted her teeth, clenched both fists harder, then finally took a deep breath, relaxing...

In live combat, she'd most likely never use these two spells in tandem, or she'd never have a chance at sustaining them for more than two or three minutes, at best. But in training, attempting this presented her with the most strenuous, yet delicate exercise she could ask for. Delicacy which obviously required calm to be even somewhat effective, let alone reach the battle ending power she was going for.

"Alright, let's give this one a shot...", it took her a good few moments to get used to the feeling of weaving both these spells simultaneously, but she had managed it so long as she remained static. Naturally, she couldn't hope to satisfy this requirement in the heat of battle, which established the first requirement of her training session.

To practice, she picked a tried and tested training dummy, a simple, lone tree stump a couple of meters ahead of her. Swinging her whip like beam out at it, she watched it coil around the target and swiftly crystallize it into a far shinier, more pretty white lump. And as she pulled the whip back, she swiftly snapped the weakened construct in half wondering how it didn't look nearly pretty enough that she'd leave it intact for the next onlooker to admire... Maybe one of the other tree stumps or random targets could yield a better result? Maybe, maybe not... But she really hadn't come here to test offensive spells. Thus, as she reeled the whip back into her clenched fist, and closed her eyes...

This way, she had a far better feeling of whether or not the mana between both her spells was still somewhat balanced... And once she arrived at that satisfying conclusion, she opened the hand where she'd channeled her offensive spell into, thus dispelling it. That glowing orb surrounding her hand faded immediately, but as she slowly distributed the defensive mana more evenly throughout her body, the crystalline transformation it endowed her with didn't really fade. Instead, it grew thicker, as the normally skimpy armor around her front expanded to cover more of her smooth, shiny skin, breast plate, greaves and shoulder pads all thickening and covering her in an imposing suit of adamantine armor.

"This... Looks rather tough...", admired Alisa, opening and closing her fist as she appreciated the crystalline coating on her own armor. But, was this armor as tough as it looked, or would it fall short of her expectations? Considering she pumped enough mana into it to power a battle ending S-rank spell, it would indeed take a fair amount of power to satisfy the sculptress and her high standards... Yet she also had all the confidence in the world, enough to realize that even if her attempted spell fell short the first time around, it wouldn't do so by the time she got done with it.

A resolute though such as this... She didn't exactly depend on it to know what she'd come here to do, but it obviously didn't hurt either.

With it in mind, Alisa kept her fist clenched, and her breath steady. As a louder crackling sound began filling the air, her armor too thickened and hardened, to the point she no longer felt any leftover magical mass weighting down on her previously charged hand. Her body, contrastingly, felt heavier, yet not without weighting her down the slightest bit. A magical paradox no physics or logic could ever truly explain, a natural result of wielding an otherwise unnatural force. Whether or not magical could be called such as indeed up for debate, but fact of the matter was anybody could wield it to bend what were otherwise unbreakable laws of nature. On the other hand, magical power existed naturally in the world around them, up for any skilled and willing mage to find a way to wield it.

The power to sculpt the world as Alisa did with her crystals, and as she now did with her surroundings as she flung around attacks at full power. She tried hitting the rocks and trees with her bare hands before, confirming how she could hit those without hurting herself. But considering this armor might not actually protect the exposed parts of her body as the salesman advertised, she had to keep this defensive spell at hand, strong and capable of protecting her vital spots and letting her harness the full power of the Kamui.

Without hesitation, she once more dashed at whatever boulders she yet saw standing, throwing punches and kicks left and right until she felt something nick the crystalline layer of her armor... But nothing did, no matter how hard she struck: What eventually put a stop to her onslaught/test battery was not a negative result, but sensing her mana reserves dropping, and fast.

It worked perfectly.

At least, assuming her foes included broken tree stumps and motionless rocks. Sure, she could beat all of those silly, but odds were, simply achieving that would yield little to no benefit. No, she needed to test this spell out against actual spells, and as luck would have it, she already knew her spells could damage her own defenses. Though not exactly ideal in a combat situation, she could at least use this little flaw to her advantage during training sessions such as this one.

Alisa's mana pool had now lowered to about 50% of the usual, and as she did what she planned on doing next, it would only get lower. As far as the density of her magic power was concerned, a fair number of other mages had her beat... She did, however, hold up pretty nicely in terms of physical fitness, where few fighters could hold up to her. And most of the few who could were those she counted among her comrades in arms, members of Blue Pegasus. But then, anybody would half a brain could guess this pursuit for an appealing physique yielded results far more reaching than beauty to the beholder. For Alisa, this search for beauty went hand in hand with the pursuit of peak physical fitness, and even though she'd reached pretty high up already, she saw nothing but the next summit on her climb up.

So long as she still had others stronger than her, this quest wouldn't stop. And by the time she didn't, she'd have found a deeper, newer, more pressing quest, a new driving force towards greater strength. Of course, she needn't worry about a brand new drive until this one had run its course, and that would definitely not happen anytime soon. Thus, she once more clenched her idle fist and concentrated an equal amount of mana in there. This time around, she found that much easier to pull off, courtesy of having accustomed herself to the brand new spell.

As she'd already mastered the offensive variant, the moment she mastered the defensive one was the moment she grew capable of wielding both simultaneously. As expected of a woman who had trained countless spells, but chose to master only a select few she knew she'd use later on... But even Alisa could make mistakes and some of those she believed she'd most certainly use she wound up not using at all, leaving them as dusty entries on her personal spell tome... No matter... When it came to spells this powerful, no mage worth her salt would go to the strenuous trouble of mastering them if she didn't feel completely certain she'd need them in time. Which wasn't really hard considering their absurd power compared to ordinary spells.

As she could now wield both of these spells without weakening either, she tuned her clenched fist onto her idle arm, and snapped the stretching whip at it. In a flash, the whip had shot forth and coiled around her other arm, that distinct crackling sound soon filling the air as a crystal armor was redundantly crystallized again, yet the ensuing damage more than enough to compromise the armor's own lattice and render it brittle. Cracks formed and spread around the damaged surface, yet the armor held firm. Alisa too felt no pain, not even wincing, hinting at how her armor indeed remained intact.

"Hmmm... This is good...", she thought out loud, approvingly. Thus, Alisa allowed her mana to flow through both spells until watching which of them gave way first. The damaging crystallization spread it's way up the diamond armor, eventually covering Alisa's whole arm all the way up to her chest.

Not exactly a comfortable position to be in, mind you, yet the sculptress had enough confidence in her reflexes to turn the damaging spell off after breaking the armor. She also had confidence in her magic, and that's exactly why she'd figured she'd need all her reflexes to avoid needlessly hurting herself. Narrowing her eyes, she kept her eyes on the cracks in the armor, until.

Ka-CHING!

With a loud shatter, her armor finally broke apart and at that very moment, Alisa also undid her damaging spell, yet still Vajradeha's crystallization did enough damage on Junketsu's sleeve for her to see the effects. Only a millisecond too late huh... Guess even her reflexes had their limits, and she should probably keep that in mind when the time came to fight. For now though, she considered her training session concluded... Next, she'd actually need to get to Crocus to hopefully make a difference in this fight. She'd also need a name for her new defense, but she could think about that later, after she got home and showered. And probably changed into something more... Casual...
