Maarschalk
The Master.

Maarschalk was the first to arrive. He stood at the dead center of the arena. It had been the same arena for the past few rounds. He got familiar with the boundaries quite quickly. Maarschalk had his game-face on. Already in a fighting stance. His fists were raised to his upper chest. Of course, his hands were formed into the perfect fist. They were pointed upwards, towards the sky.

Maarschalks body position faced the entrance tunnel where his opponent was to come out of. He knew little to nothing about his opponent, about the way he liked the fight or what his face looked like even; one thing he did know though, and that was his name; Finn. Though in this battle he would be referred to as opponent, or foe. As he was the last person Maarschalk was to face. This was the finals of the martial arts tournament. Getting here was no feat to Maarschalk. He breezed himself quite easily towards the top of this tournament, and now he was to face the winner of the other group.

His motivation was certainly present. His fighting stance suggested that muay thai was the way he was going to lead this battle, even though his fists weren’t raised all the way close to his face; they were instead raised closer to his upper chest because of his abnormal height in comparison to most opponents he’s had. To be a winner; that was Maarschalks goal. No matter how foul he was going to be this battle, no mercy was to be found in his pupils. His spine, like before, was straight. His shoulders were slightly weaving from left to right; as if Maarschalk had begun to shadow box, but alas, he wasn't moving his arms. Just his shoulders. His feet were jumping up and down, to a certain rhythm; there wasn't a moment when both of his feet were off the ground. It indicated that Maarschalk was ready to go, and move at his full speed from the get-go. His eyes gleamed over the tunnel that his opponent was supposed to enter from. The tunnel received his stare-down; one known to be intense.

The figure most likely had a height advantage, he had this advantage the entire tournament; though his opponent(s) tried to turn it into their advantage -- they have all failed to do so. His confidence was present.

On his torso, he wore a tight t-shirt made from elastic material. The tightness didn't constrict his movement or reveal his stiff nipples. Over this t-shirt, he wore a checkered shirt. With blue stripes, white boxes, and red stripes. It was difficult for him to acquire clothes that complimented his length, thus the checkered shirt was a bit too small. He solved this issue by rolling up the sleeves to above his elbows; which in turn caused his strongly trained arms to reveal themselves without cutting out the blood pressure to his arms. Even though the shirt was too small, it didn’t constrict the movements of Maarschalk. His black trousers were tucked into his cognac colored leather boots; his boots had thick soles, even though they were a strange choice for combat – they certainly provided its owner with comfort.

No opening statement, even for the finals. The whole idea of this martial arts tournaments had grown Maarschalk weary and skeptical. What if this was trap? Well, it was too late for Maarschalk to worry about that now.

His mind had been clear from the start. Like the rest of his body, his cleansed mental state followed by his relentlessness meant that Maarschalk was the ultimate weapon. His posture spoke of brutality; but at the same time awareness, of himself and his surroundings. Even though he retained a position to suggest that he was going to use muay tai techniques; the man still had the properties of a south-paw fighter. His left strikes and hooks were powerful enough to cut air in two. His right arm, fast enough to create an afterimage. Of course, those were exaggerations; but still relatively accurate, in some respect. Every vein in his body was pumped to the brim with adrenaline. Since long, his psycho/sociopathic instincts have caused this reaction in his body when facing the dangers of combat. He watched the entrance his opponent was supposed to come from very carefully, as the arena was absent except for Maarschalk who eagerly was awaiting for his opponent to enter.

It was time.

The final round of the tournament was upon them, and this was where the two single best competitors would come head to head. The two who had won every single round leading up to this point were going to find themselves face to face at last. The ones who had not necessarily been the strongest, but the best trained to use what they had available to them. Through it all, there was a lot that could be taken away from the experiences- Or not.

People were different. They came with all different kinds of inspiration, different reasons to fight. For Finn, this would just be another opponent. In his mind, it was a life or death situation. His nerves were calm, his breath even and his muscles loose for what was to come. Unlike most, Finn had spent his entire life surviving. He did not have always necessarily have a house to protect him. There were times where Finn and Jake had spent days outside their home, where the inability to detect irregularities in their surroundings would lead to death.

His mind and body were prepared as if he were in one of those situations. His clothes were the same as they'd been for the entire tournament. His shirt hugged his skin, though not in a way that pinched the skin. His pants tightly hugged his waist so as to not fall or cause discomfort in movement. Their ends were open and firm, similar to martial arts pants. His shoes were laced tight, but made of an elastic material that allowed his foot complete flexibility.

As Finn exited the tunnel, the crowd maintained their roars and applause. Finn's eyes were already accustomed to the lights, and he saw his opponent. Over seven feet tall, the man was a leviathan. It didn't intimidate Finn, however. He'd fought bigger- Hell, even Jake could grow larger than that. Size was most certainly an advantage, but it wasn't the only deciding factor in a fight.

Making his way up the steps, Finn would walk up to five meters away from Maarschalk. Immediately, Finn entered a fighting stance. His right leg slid back, his left leg remaining forward. Both his knees bent, Finn shifted his weight from the balls of one foot to the other. He'd remain light on his feet, consistently shifting his weight so as to lull himself into a rhythm, and allow for instant reaction. His left arm would lead, out slightly in front of his body with his fist pointed towards the sky, parallel to the top of his chest. His right arm remained bent inward, his right fist also pointed to the sky and equal to his shoulders in height.

Back straight, shoulders squared, and head ducked slightly forward so as to tuck his chin away, his stance was prepared. Finn's eyes were already ignoring Maarschalk's face- Instead, they locked immediately on the tall mans hips. With all things prepared, the announcer finally signaled the beginning of the fight.

Maarschalk
The Master.

Prior to his opponent arriving, Maarschalk completed one more action; he took off his boots. Under the boots, he wore no socks, but instead his feet were bandaged as to prevent chafing whilst moving around whilst also protecting his feet from potential kicks he would deliver.

His opponent seemed like such a child. Compared to himself; a gritty man of age - who hadn't a clean face, the five o-clock shadow populated across most of his lower face. Though he seemed like a child in appearance; the way he carried himself suggested anything but. Maarschalk's eyes wandered across the entire body of his opponent - in a non-perverted manner, but rather to eye and see if he could find talent; he did this whilst witnessing him walking on the steps that led to the arena. The audience cheered quite wildly for him; which compared to Maarschalk they were weary - the man was largely unknown in this community. Every fight he's had so far ended with one- or two exchanges which involved punches or kicks. Maybe they were expecting him to show his A-game this time around. He's certainly prepared to do exactly that; but, his opponent needed to keep up with him. By the way his foe walked he could tell that this was no opponent to be underestimated. Disregarding his child-like appearance.

Most of the battles that have ensued in this arena, his eyes were watched - every time, his opponent(s) have tried to watch the movement in his eyes to see if they could get a clue where he was about to strike first; not this opponent though -- his gaze was averted from Maarschalks eye, onto around the center of his body. Was he scared? His own children were the same, afraid to look into his eyes that spoke of death and unrelenting violence. Wasn't it silly though, that he wasn't looking upwards – into the eyes of Maarschalk? What if he couldn't see Maarschalks elbows - and therefor miss what he's doing with his arms. Maarschalk wasn't planning on being reactionary of his opponents actions this round; like one of the rounds before -- he was aiming to take control of the battle. His opponent wasn't a very talkative one, which was good - perhaps he disregarded emotion the same way that Maarschalk did.

He watched his opponent enter the arena, and walk closer and closer - Maarschalk had formulated a plan. A plan that didn't require much strategic thinking in the later parts of the execution; which would mean that he had an easy time fighting - because he wouldn't need to think as much. Any surprise coming from his opponent would receive its own appropriate reaction. The tall figure was prepared for anything, be it kicks, punches or strange movement. Should his opponent try anything, his reaction speed would be true and immediate. The moment that the referee gave the starting signal, Maarschalk stepped onward. Not in a very cautious pace, but a fast and effective one. He moved fast enough to gain enough speed to be at a legs length away, more specifically; his own legs length – this was a meter, had his muscles not expanded to their maximum. The way he carried himself resulted in momentum being gained, for him to stop suddenly meant that the energy that was being carried had to be converted somewhere. The last step he set in front of his young opponent was the catalyst for all the gained energy to be converted in a low kick.

He begun the first step of this low kick with his optimal footwork. His right foot was planted on the ground, firmly and steadily. Simultaneously whilst preparing his other leg for the outside leg kick, although whether the low kick could end up as an inside leg kick depending on the movement of his opponent. There was one worry on Maarschalks mind before he’d begun the right move set to initiate the low kick; were it checked by his opponent the fight might be called right away; although his Lamia Scale passive might give him a breath of wind to fight for a bit longer. The advantage that Maarschalk had in this was that his opponent strictly seemed to focus on the center of his body – and not his eyes. Had this still been the case; Maarschalk would deviously watch the leg he attempted to kick. Had he sensed that any motion would come from that kick – or his arm above it, he’d shift his course of actions. Any subtlety that his opponent might show that would indicate that he was going to catch his leg, or try and use his leg to check it; he’d avert his course of actions – make his low kick into a bluff. He could achieve this at any moment of the kick, albeit the bluff would lose it efficiency should it happen right before the kick connect. With the amount of force that was inserted into the leg, it could quite easily break the leg of his opponent if it received improper reaction.

His upper torso was prepared to swat away any punches that were headed towards him. Maarschalk considered the possibility that his opponent would counter his low kick by using a kick himself, the perfect defensive is an offensive bla bla bla; his arms were prepared to deal with it – by intentionally lowering his arms a bit, so that his fists are parallel to his opponent’s neck.

His shoulders were relaxed, ready to allow his arms to move into any direction with ease. Any action given by his opponent be it defensive or offensive would cause Maarschalk to react by using his arms; certainly, if he found the opportunity to use them in an offensive matter – the way he used his arms offensively was by utilizing his left arm as his dominant hand; and his right arm as his non-dominant. This meant that he used his left arm for the ‘heavy’ punches, and his right arm for the fast and precise punches. Striking a solid defensive was something he avoided; like hitting his opponents elbow, or other blocks that would harm himself more than do damage to his opponent were things he’d avoid. His torso was almost fluid, capable of moving forward and backwards if necessary to ensure victory. If his opponent dared to throw such defensives, he’d attempt his best to divert the striking location to somewhere that he could reach without overextending while also doing the most damage. His eyes were very tactical, his past-experience as a doctor has provided him with enough knowledge of the human body to know the vital places without having to actively think about it. His reaction timed had been accustomed to the face of battle already. His mind and spirit was prepared for anything. Even if his opponent had moved back, to the left or right – which had the potential to result in Maarschalk missing his strike, he would dance along with his opponent; by being water – and adapting the fluidity of water. His low kick was the only thing that could make Maarschalk lose momentum, had his opponent side-stepped it or whatever. Balance is one thing that Maarschalk prioritized. There wasn’t a moment for his opponent to take advantage of his footwork, the foot that he had planted on the ground before delivering his low-kick had rotated slightly outwards so that the energy gained by his other leg was at its peak.

The shadow that Maarschalk casted over his opponent had disappeared. The clouds that covered the sky began pouring with rain as the battle ensued.

His initial left leg came at an angle, to deliver a low kick with a maximum amount of power he needed to arch his knee in a way that would support delivering all that power without harming himself.

Maarschalk was indeed a giant of a man. Despite the size giving him an impressive advantage in the fight, Finn would not allow it to deter his own fighting spirit. His mind was calm, his breath still steady, and he was prepared for the beginning of the fight. As the referee called the beginning of the fight, Maarschalk seemed to waste no time in initiating.

Maarschalk was coming at Finn with a decent amount of speed behind him, and Finn continued to be in his stance. His weight continued to shift foot to foot, shoulders bobbing left to right ever so slightly to prepare him to move at any time. Finally, Maarschalk had reached a single meter away from Finn with his right foot. The moment that Maarchalk's right foot hit the ground, his left foot raised off the ground in a sweeping motion. Since Finn's left leg was leading, the leg kick that Maarschalk was aiming for was an inside leg kick at Finn's left leading leg. The mans leg itself was just over a meter long, and it aimed somewhere at the inside of Finn's leg.

With this motion, Finn would also act- Though there was a chance that this was within Maarschalk's plans. As Maarschalk planted his right foot, the monster of a man would begin a leg kick with his left leg and foot. However, being that Finn had no way of knowing for sure what Maarschalk would do in the journey leading him to the boy, Finn’s actions would not begin until after the kick had begun. Maarschalk’s left leg would be lifted off the ground already, in the beginning stages of its journey towards Finn before Finn reacted. Luckily, due to Finn’s legs being far faster than Maarschalk’s, his reactive defense would still move with plenty of speed.

As Maarschalk lifted his foot and began the kick, the mans entire momentum was behind it, adding to its destructive force. If this kick had enough force to break Finn’s leg, then it certainly had enough force to backfire and break Maarschalk’s. Finn would put his weight on his right foot, which was back, and lift his left leg up while twisting his waist slightly into Maarschalk’s kick, turning it so the front of his shin was facing the front of Maarschalk's shin in a way that the two shins would connect head on, causing a direct impact rather than deflection. Lifting his foot on the blocking leg up to flex the muscle in front of his shin so as to counter the leg kick with his own shin, the goal was that Maarschalk's leg would break on impact. Finn would make sure his leg was at a ninety degree angle, and his check would add momentum right back at his opponents own- This would damage Maarschalk more than it would actually damage Finn. The timing of this block was as Maarschalk's began the actual leg kick, meaning the giants right leg and waist were already likely turning into the kick- Much too late to cancel that momentum that brought him forward at a fast and effective pace.

During this, Finn's arms would also be taking defensive measures. Due to the body motion required of a leg kick, Maarschalk’s body would certainly be turning into the kick. This would mean that his right arm would be on the inside, an extremely odd angle to throw any blows. Even his left arm would be prevented from any true hooks, withheld likely to jabs or straights. Regardless of that, Finn would act as if the opponent could strike from anywhere, with any timing. One could never be too safe in a fight of life and death- And to Finn, that was precisely what this was.

Moving his right hand back, he'd bring his upper right arm at a slight angle in front of his chest, his outer forearm kept on the outside and his hand opening, palm towards his face and fingers all together. His hand would be only inches outside the right side of his face, though it didn't obstruct Finn's vision of the mans shoulders or the majority of Maarchalk's arm. This would allow him to see any lefts fists that Maarschalk would throw and deflect or block any punches that the man would throw with that hand. His left arm would extend sideways over the front of his body, ready to go down or up dependent on either of Maarschalk's fists or his legs in order to deflect or block any blows. His hand would also be sideways with his hand open, palm facing the arena at a slight upper angle to deflect the leg if it came up at him or redirected, as well as to be able to easier redirect any punches by the giant.

As the legs collided, Finn would not be pressed back or altered. There were two things that could have happened now on Maarschalk's side. Either his leg would break, causing him to drop to the ground due to the break, or his leg would simply suffer some damage from this contact and Maarschalk would have to place it down.

If Maarschalk used that time to throw any of his punches, Finn would react accordingly to use the hand that was closes to the incoming punches to deflect the punches, rather than block them. This would be done by using his hand or forearm to collide with Maarschalk’s wrist or forearm and change the trajectory of the incoming blows away from Finn. Assuming those blows were at Finn’s head, face or neck area, Finn would also be moving his head away from the direction of the blows- This included moving his head back or forward, left or right, up or down if required. Once Maarschalk’s attack ended, with or without the additional punches, Finn would immediately drop his leg back down after the block (either in front of him or behind him, depending on Maarschalk’s following actions), and assuming that Maarschalk did not throw any extra attacks or make extra movements that would cause Finn to react accordingly. Finn would, in the case of being able to reset his stance, immediately raise his arms back up and resume his original fighting stance, including his steady shifting of his weight and bobbing of his shoulders. Finn's eyes would remain on the fighters chest (or simply the area of equivalence to his chest depending on how he moved) so as to remain aware of any techniques that Maarschalk may throw at him. Regardless of what happened to Maarschalk after the contact of their legs, be it him placing his leg back down in any position or his leg breaking and the man falling as a cause, Finn would be ready to react to that accordingly.

This would allow him to see any lefts fists that Maarschalk would throw and deflect or block any punches that the man would throw with that hand.

But not my legs. I’d like to point out how this made it impossible to see what my leg was targeting. Given, perhaps that it was possible and that you did catch a glimpse before the hit connected, I’ll proceed, under the pretense that further semantics (ie figuring out that I was going for your right leg instead) are impossible.

  • Since Finn's left leg was leading, the leg kick that Maarschalk was aiming for was an inside leg kick at Finn's left leading leg.

  • Simultaneously whilst preparing his other leg for the outside leg kick, although whether the low kick could end up as an inside leg kick depending on the movement of his opponent.

My actions didn't depend on which leg of yours was leading, it depended on what your movements were. Since you didn’t describe that you put your left leg forward upon seeing me move; it means that your left leg was leading from the start. That meant that before I initiated the movements for my kick your leg already was leading – meaning that there had been no movement. That is, until you raised that leg. Which allowed me to alter my course of action, and instead go for the outside leg kick.

  •  Finn would put his weight on his right foot, which was back, and lift his left leg up while twisting his waist slightly into Maarschalk’s kick, turning it so the front of his shin was facing the front of Maarschalk's shin in a way that the two shins would connect head on, causing a direct impact rather than deflection.

This position, in combination with your hand blocking your view of what my legs are targeting, allows for my hit to properly connect with your right leg.

Since you are also only standing on one leg whilst my leg connects, I claim my victory.

Tldr -- my actions were based on movement, and not the position of your initial leg, which allows me to alter my action whilst also ensuring that you cannot defend from it.

    IC
    ------------------------

Maarschalks leg had not yet fully stretched out yet, prior to his kick connecting. Based on the fact that his leg already was in momentum, a few feet away from striking, the target location had been set after noticing that his foe begun raising his left leg.  For Maarschalk to properly connect the outside kick he had to extend his waist to be able to cover the range and hit him.

His kick was delivered with the maximum amount of power that his leg could deliver; instantly breaking the only leg his opponent was standing on. Maarschalk in turn did not receive damage from delivering the kick. This meant that his kick was used optimally. With his shin connecting with the side of his opponents lower leg - the soft side. By connecting in this manner, he broke his opponents leg; both his fibula and tibia. The kick was given with such an impact that the leg that Maarschalk struck had severe internal bleeding which would easily result in huge swellings in a moments notice.

Since Maarschalk kicked the only leg that his opponent was standing on, the reaction that would follow was quite obvious; his opponent would have to try and regain balance by falling on the raised leg or let himself fall backwards.

That either meant that he had to move forwards, and enter the reach of Maarschalk; or fall, and let his back absorb the blow. Even though Maarschalk was certain that the kick he delivered was enough to knock him out of the tourney, it didn't prevent him from preparing other types of actions. Maarschalk moved the leg he kicked with back immediately after his kick had landed.

His next course of action were dependent on the referee calling the fight. Had the referee not called the fight, Maarschalk would use his right leg to potentially get within the range to throw another kick. This happened as soon his leg returned from kicking his opponent. Of course, he used the same maneuvers as before - aiming for the best spot he could hit with the least amount of raised defense. The energy he converted into this kick didn't convey as much power as his previous kick; it was much more agile, leaving options to target other places than intended.

Had his opponent been declared incapable of continuing the fight, the wise choice of Maarschalk was to return to his starting position, and bow to show respect to his opponent before claiming victory; the first time in this tournament that he showed his humble side.

Despite the fact that I specify that it's to the outside of my face, not in front of it
He tries saying my left arm (bent over my body) further obstructs my view
When that's simply not the case, my eyes would look over the arm and see the lower body
He's trying to say that he reacted in accordance to my leg check
Despite the fact that I specified that my leg check is in reaction to his motion of an inside leg kick
And he's trying to say that last second, he extended his waist to aim his kick for my back right leg
Which 1: My leg is over a meter away, as it was slid back in my first post and he's a meter away from my left leg (with a self described 1 meter long leg of his own, putting my right leg out of his reach)
And 2: My left leg is moved to the right to block the inside leg kick, as Finn percieved it to be as such. Even if he's aiming for my back leg, his leg should by all accordances collide with my leg check as it would still be intercepting any kick to that right side, regardless of if he somehow elasticizes his leg.
Even if he tries to extend (or possibly could) extend to my right leg
He should still be colliding with my leg check
Which would break his leg on impact
He's also trying to say that I was not looking at his upper body, meaning he could combo after (which, while that shouldn't matter if I'm right and I check his kick/break his leg, I specified twice in my post that I'm looking at his chest/chest area to keep his lower body in peripherals)

This will be a two part post ruling cause so much shit to go over.

First off reading this you guys make it difficult to really get a accurate timeline of things going considering all of these reactive movements of playing off what the other is doing. IE. I react to what he is doing if he reacts this way. Never truly solidifying the timeline. Lets get right into it shall we?

  • Even with turning the left leg with the waist. You can't state you are faster then him considering you have stated finn movement speed does not translate to attack-speed so you guys would be on a even playing field. To to say you are faster in that aspect is invalid.

  • Even with the block he would kicking from the left towards your right. You would be lifting your leg and twisting into it. I don't know but even twisting your waist (while raising leg) at a fast speed is questionable standing on one leg. Even then its awkward, your right leg is back you would have to shift your weight backward to keep from falling forward. The situation is very tricky an came down to semantics.

  • With the above quote it would be impossible to you attempt that block actually without completely losing balance. Maars never stated in his post where his kicked was aimed. It could be said it was aimed at the right as you assumed and went to block with the left. You gave it a target by moving your left leg locking yourself in place. By your right leg being backwards. You took a textbook stance sure but you didn't move your body correctly in response to using your left leg the way you did. As your weight would be shifted to the back.

  • Not to mention, you say you were a meter away but you acknowledge that you didn actually react till he was already in momentum. Also you contradict your self in the dispute.

Finn wrote:Finn’s actions would not begin until after the kick had begun. Maarschalk’s left leg would be lifted off the ground already, in the beginning stages of its journey towards Finn before Finn reacted.

Which 1: My leg is over a meter away, as it was slid back in my first post and he's a meter away from my left leg (with a self described 1 meter long leg of his own, putting my right leg out of his reach)

  • He never actually stated where he was kicking just a low kick. His low kick can be a body shot for you considering height difference anyways.

It is to be said this fight was well done, both sides fought hard. Made me really stare at this judgement for a hour before making a final decision. Based on the evidence presented Finn cannot block like that without falling over. Hits can be called and the fight can continue if it does.
