This had been quite the full day for a lone wandering mage like Alisa. She got up at daybreak to work, and work she had, harder than she'd done in days. Though she didn't really train as she'd have normally liked, she still got plenty of workout in. She'd started off with what was undoubtedly the most stenuous of all her tasks, assembling a Galleon from scratch, while doing most of the heavy lifting by herself. Her muscles started feeling a bit sore late in the afternoon once the intense strain from the exercise finally sunk in. Granted, she didn't experience this nearly as much as the average person might have, and it defenitely wouldn't stop her from taking more quests tomorrow, hell, today even. Next up she had the actual construction work, helping the city of Hargeon get back on its feet in the wake of a cowardly terrorist attack that had also levelled her guild. But the proud people of Hargeon wouldn't stay down for the count, and no longer than the time it took for the attack to end, the citizens were already knee deep in reconstruction efforts.

Compared to building a massive vessel by herself, simply clearing rubble and helping lay bricks felt like a walk in the park, and Alisa passed the test on construction skills with flying colors. She could always figure out where she'd be needed next, antecipate it, and provide the hard working men with all the materials they needed when they needed them. I made a huge mess out of her outfit, sure, but there's a reason why she called it a work outfit: It was meant to get torn up, even if she didn't really feel any pleasure by wearing it in such a miserable state.

So much that she considered heading back home and change, but her employer for those two - soon to be three - jobs insisted it wouldn't be necessary. She trusted him. And in a way, he was right, but that didn't make walking inside a nobleman's manner in torn up clothes any less of an embarassing experience. It appeared the nobleman had been so impressed by her strength and resourcefulness he decided to enturst a far more delicate task upon her: Tending to and escorting his niece on a trip to the beach. The girl herself had naturally been even less excited about this than Alisa was, and tried her hardest to make her life difficult. Little did she know that her idea of difficult was no harder than a walk along the beach... Literally.

"She's a good girl though...", Alisa concluded, still smiling at the memory her as the day came to a close and the sun started setting. Though she was venting her frustration out on Alisa, she'd been testing what kind a person she was before deciding whether or not she could trust the Pegasus with her most vulnerable side.

All in all, she'd been rather happy with the fruits of her labour by the she got back to the inn for a much needed shower and change of clothes. Washing away all the dirk, grime and sand off her body gave her a fulfilling sense of relief, knowing she had a very productive day to be proud of, and a well earned meal waiting for her at the dining room. She brought Lumen along this time, after all, her day was not yet over and there were no doubt still jobs that she could do. She spotted at least one on the way back home, basically somebody asking her to do the Rune Knights' job.

Now though Alisa wasn't overly fond of the magic council with all its innefficiency, incompetence and corruption, she had no ill will towards individual Knights. Quite the opposite, she admired most of them for their bravery and dedication to their job, understanding many of them had to fight the red tape and bureocracy as much as the dark mages themselves, just to do the right thing. All in all, this was enough for her to feel a measure of safety in the presence of knights, but not enough to join their military, and defenitely enough to feel comfortable doing their work for once might. Her dinner was a healthy serving of grilled beef, rice, and greens, giving her that much needed punch for the day's last work, and after that, she could finally be off.

So this job said to meet the client at the docks, so that's where she went, or rather, returned. Finding the guy named Collin Simmers took but a few minutes, as he hadn't gone out of his way to stay hidden. Quite the opposite, he seemed to be pacing up and down in a nervous wreck, and when approached, instantly walked up to Alisa and spoke,

"Hey, you're a mage right?! You're here to help me right?! Oh gods... I really need your help.", he asked with a desperate tone, but before letting Alisa ask him what the problem was, hell, before she even had time to greet and introduce herself, he just kept on talking and talking without the slightest ounce of a filter in place to stop him, "The Lord called me, but I have to patrol the streets too! I can't be in two places at once.... But if I bail on patrol, I'm fired! And if i ignore the Lord's summons, I'm also fired!! Oh Gods, what can I do?! You'll patrol in my place, right?!?!"

Taking a deep breath, Alisa sighed, smiled and reassured him that she would. That was the least she could do, probably the only thing she could do that might get him to calm down before he had a nervous breakdown. Thankfully, the moment her answer reached his ears his anxiety visibly faded into blissful relief.

"You... You will...? Oh thank you... Then, I'll leave it to you~!", his transformation was nothing short of mesmerizing, from a nervous wreck to a relaxed, almost happy go lucky page.

Well, no matter. Alisa let him go off on his business while she tended to her own. Apparently he needed her to patrol and possibly make a drug bust, assuming she could find both dealer and buyer and catch them in the act. He warned her not to take anybody in unless she caught them redhanded, otherwise they'd just weasel out of it and become more careful as a result. Regardless, Alisa, knew what she had to do, check the dark alleys:

"Lumen, do the thing.", she smiled at her partner, who simply hummed cheerily and lit up the candle atop his head, lighting the dark path before her.

Lumen Spell:

Name: The Ferryman's Little Light
Rank: D
Mana Cost: 25
Requirements: Litwick Magic
Type: Supplementary
Element: Light
Range: 5 Meters
Cooldown: 1 Posts
Duration: Sustain
Effect: Litwick flickers its light once by emitting a screeching sound after which the intensity of the light will light up the around him within a 5 meter radius.

With a light to shine the way, things suddenly got a lot easier. She could tell which paths had been traversed recently courtesy of litter having been trampled on, things she'd never be see without a living light source. Yet she couldn't exactly walk around with a candle next to her without giving away her position, so she allowed Lumen to travel on ahead and turn corners before she did. She had a strategy too, one that would both let her see the road ahead and detect her targets before they grew aware of her. Yet she couldn't have guessed just how well it would actually work.

"Huuh? What the hell's this?! A candle?"

"Leave it be, that's just one of them magical creatures you see all over the place. Shoo, shoo! We talkin' business over here."

Her mind boggle and her brow raised. Are they idiots...? Sure, Alisa expected some kind of reaction, but she didn't expect as bold a reaction as this one. No matter, she came here to do a job and these two defenitely sounded suspicious enough for her to do something about it.

"OH SHIT, IT HAD COMPANY! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!", cried the younger crook, bolting in one direction as if his life depended on it, while it's older business partner fled the other way.

As the two men started running in opposite directions, Alisa knew she only had the luxury of chasing one of them down. One of them was a known smuggler, someone who would undoubtedly be arrested if he showed his face in any hospital or precinct. And her brain lacked the slightest concern over notions such as "Police brutality" with a suspect threatening to get away from her, quickly driving her into a mighty back kick in Hullston's general direction, angle slightly down. This shot a shimmering, foot shaped crystal at him at high speed, more than enough to hit him in one ankle and knock him right down on his face.

But she wouldn't have a chance to acknowledge this as she targeted the weakest link, the less experienced, lesser known criminal who she may no doubt squeeze information out of more easily. So the moment her kicking leg touched the ground, her body would already be turned towards her target, and like a Lioness targetting a helpless gazelle, she sprinted forward after her fleeing prey.

Alisa Spell:

Name: Shatter

Rank: D
Mana Cost: 25
Requirements: Crystal Magic
Type: Offensive
Element: N/A (Crystal)
Range: 5 Meters
Cooldown: 1 Posts
Duration: Sustained
Effect: When executing an unarmed strike, Alisa hardens the attacking limb, launching a compressed crystalline orb flying towards the target. Through a combination of willpower and angle, she can curve the trajectory somewhat. On impact or when hitting max range, it shattering into a 1m fragmentation blast, dealing D-rank slashing damage, with the smaller fragments behaving like sharp grains of sand. If her attack connects before the projectile is launched, she'll instead concentrate the damage on the the impact area, narrowing the shattering effect to about twice the size of the impact. By sustaining the spell Alisa retains the hardening effect and can fire repeatedly, but can only deal 1 D-rank and switch the affected limb once each turn.

You couldn't even call it a pursuit.

Alisa was fast, easily clocked among the fastest mages in Fiore, running after someone with the physical fitness of an average human. A human good at fleeing, but a human nonetheless. To his credit, he did realize he was being chase and knocked a couple of crates in her way, but it was too little too late. Angling her run a bit closer to the wall, Alisa jumped and ran two steps over the wall, pushing up and sideways against it to get the necessary friction not to fall off immediately, and finally landing beyond the crates.

The absence of any thumping sound associated with a person crashing and falling down visibly alerted the running dealer, prompting him to turn around, but by then it was far too late for him to do anything about it. Alisa had reached her full speed of 108km/h, faster than most magic powered vehicles. She tackled the hapless criminal down with a yelp just as it slowed down to cut a corner. She did more than just tackle, effectively slamming into him shoulder first with the full momentum from her run while attempting to break, effectively sending him flying the remaining two meters until he crashed into the wall on the other side with a rumble, with greater momentum than a bullet travelling at muzzle velocity. Talk about overkill...! Yet for Alisa, this was just the right amount of kill.

She'd dealt enough damage to keep him from running anymore, but not enough to knock him out right away, "Ugh...", growned the dazed perp, reaching around the bloodied back of his head

He struggled to stand up, only to fail and fall flat on his ass: "Unless you'd like to 'fall down some stairs' before I turn you over to the Knights, you should start talking.", she issued that overused euphemist as a threat with a cold and serious tone, as down to business as a part time police woman holding you by the scruff of your collar could be. She clenched her other fist and coated it into diamond, punching through the wall behind him - only a mere inch from his head - for a little bit of added motivation, "Who's your supplier, and who were you selling too."

"Ok, ok, ok!! I'll tell you everything, just don't kill meee!!"

Half an hour later, she had a former criminal - now redeemed thanks to a newfound fear of God - and a handful information to give her very thankful employer. He praised her decision not to chase after the older man, as odds were she'd be unlikely to ever catch him. He was a slippery old fox that one, who'd evade many seasoned Rune Knights, and Alisa wouldn't have stood a chance. The guy she did catch, was as green as it looked, and Collin Simmers was happy to have something to bring his boss at the precint, and even happier not to have been fired as a consequence of obeying the Lord. He paid Alisa some money from his wage, more than enough to cover for her time and make it worth her while.
