The sounds of wood clacking against each other echoed throughout the entire area, while the waters surged down the stream nearby and into the closest sea. It was peaceful, inside the massive realm of woodland and Snowflake discovered a place where she would be able to practice without getting disturbed by the presence of others. In her hand was a wooden sword that she had chopped off from a trunk of a tree as she smacked it against a wooden structure decorated with straws. Snowflake had always been a perfectionist and whenever she was not reading or sleeping, she would rather spend her time practicing her abilities to hone them further.

Since there was barely anyone else inside the forest, Snowflake was only in her undergarments, for her thick clothes might only hinder her movements and increase the warmth that was stored inside her body. She brought her sword down the head of the wooden structure and swiftly, turned around to do raised her leg to do a full swing kick in its ribs. Although the structure was just a piece of wood, she liked to imagine it as a human, her future enemy that she would encounter.

Beads of sweat glistened on her forehead and her face turned red due to the sweltering heat as well as the training that she had been going through a few hours prior. To finish off the entire training, she pummelled her fist into face of the structure and with her force, the structure tilted over, landing on the ground with a thud. Once she was done, she approached towards the stream and cupped a handful of water before she splashed it against her face, feeling the coolness of the water. The stream was crystal-clear, that one could even see the bottom of the stream where only fishes and pebbles laid. She used the stream water to wipe the sweat off her arms before she prepared to slide into her usual outfit.

Chelvaric Walderkat
The wind was blowing between the houses of crocus. Here and there a shutter was banging against the wall. It was a bit of a hefty wind so high up. Birds were flying in between the buildings while they were letting themselves getting carried by the wind. A lot of birds were flying over the roofs till Suddenly one of them was grabbed into the maws of a familiar Neko. This Neko was part human and had long white hair flowing over his back. His Neko ears sticking out of this nicely combed hair. He was only wearing a short Japanese samurai hakama.
With the bird in his mouth he sat backwards again and took it out between its teeth. The bird looked scared and was trying to get away very fiercely. But it couldn’t as chelvarics grip was too strong. The birds had blue feathers except for his belly that was covered in red. It was a very pretty. He snapped the neck and started to pluck the feathers out. After he cleaned the bird he put it with the other birds he already caught and started to cook them. he leaned back and looked at the sky.

He was all alone since he had lost Scraggy. He felt so sad as he had traveled so much with the little bugger. He wondered if he would survive in the harsh demon world. It was quite funny that he was so concerned about a demon. He chuckled a bit. It wasn’t just because it was funny. It was also because he was sad and the ironic nature of it. He pulled a beer out and opened it by tapping it against the wall. He drank a good portion of the bottle and waited for the birds to be ready. Engulfing himself in his negative thoughts.

Snowflake dried herself laying on a lawn of grass, basking underneath the sunlight. Knowing that there wasn’t anyone near the surrounding area, she felt comfortable alone in her undergarments with her arms and legs spread open while she gazed up at the empyreans above. Blades of grass prodded at her skin and through the tiny little gaps in her clothing. Shortly after, her eyes grew heavy, most likely because she was exhausted from the training and before she knew, she was already starting to fall asleep.

The sound of birds chirping woke her up with a startle, causing Snowflake to glance around the area, wondering where she was for a moment. Then, she began to recall her memories and recalled herself training in the middle of the forest where no one would not possibly find her, even if she was dead. Not wanting to waste any time longer, she pushed herself off the hard ground and began dressing herself in her usual attire; a black dress with intricate white designs and a white bodysuit underneath, with some high heels and black stockings.

Snowflake remembered the last quest that she was on, when she had to enchant an amulet together with Chelvaric as a birthday gift for the daughter of Lady Merlin and she had promised Chelvaric afterwards, that they would go on another quest together. A few hours prior, a paper request had caught her attention which was to get rid of some kind of mutated rat within the town and she had sent a letter about it to her job partner. Hoping that he would remember their meeting, Snowflake decided to return to the streets of Crocus; the destination of their meeting.

Chelvaric drank a bit more from his beer and turned the birds around. It seemed to be nearly ready, as the birds were becoming browner. The fat that sometimes dripped on the fire made a sissing sound. It was normal but he had to be careful that it doesn’t hit him or he would have a burn. He didn’t want a burn he hated fire burns. They hurted a long time and made his skin really bad. He got burned one time but because his teacher could do healing magic it never left a scar. He would feel bad for Snow if he would get scared. The birds were finally done and he ate the juice meat heartily. The juices of the birds were dripping off the corners of his mouth as he had to scrape the meat off the bones. It was so yummy he felt really full once he was done. He wanted to sleep but he had a letter from snow in his pocket that he had to read before he could rest his eyes. He took the letter and recognized the name that was on it from another job he did with Snow. Luciel was the name. it was the cute girl from the palace. He wondered what she needed.

His eyes widened when he read what they had to do. He jumped up packed his things and jumped off the roof downwards. The letter fell on the ground. On it was written,Catch the big rat and bring it back, in red letters. Chelvaric didn’t even read the rest as he had already jumped over the side of the roof from reading that one sentence.

After running through the streets he arrived at the location where the rat was last seen. He looked around till his eyes suddenly fell on a girl with a black and white dress. She looked super sexy and her ass had a nice round edge to it. He walked up to her as he already knew who it was. “Ah! You're already here Snow”, he said to her back with a big smile expecting her to turn around. He didn’t know Snow liked to hunt rats too. He was excited that they could do it together.

Footsteps approached behind her and a familiar voice called out for her. Snowflake turned around to face the source of the sound, only to be greeted by the sight of a person whom she had been expecting. ”Yes. Glad I got here early, I thought I was late.” She mumbled, absently brushing aside a wisp of silver that had come loose from under her hair band. The details of the quest were to catch a rat and kill it, to prevent the animal from spreading diseases around the town of Crocus. Honestly, she was never a big fan of insects and she would not have taken up the quest, if she didn’t need the money. It was not as if she was poor broke but a little bit of income every day helps her to get whatever she wanted, even if it was just to buy a dozen of cakes.

”Alright, we should begin asking around.”

Glancing the area, Snowflake was unsure as to where she should began asking since they were in the middle of the streets. But since this incident would be on the weekly newspaper as well, she assumed that the townsfolk would be aware of the situation. Approaching the nearest vendor, she began, ”Excuse me.” The owner of the store was busy doing some business that the woman hardly even noticed her. The Fiore-bound wizard repeated, but much louder this time and it finally attracted the woman’s attention. She had a sour look on her face, as if she didn’t want to be disturbed by the likes of them but nevertheless, Snowflake must have her quest accomplished.

”Do you, perhaps, know anything about a psycho rat?”

The youth questioned and even before her sentence was finished, she would be immediately cut off by the rigorous shake of the old lady’s word before they were ushered away. Snowflake was clearly annoyed, a frustrated sigh escaping her lips but there were still the rest of the townsfolk that she could get information from.

Chelvaric listened to Snow as she brushed some of her nice hair out of her face. Her hair was like silken threads. She started to talk and said that she thought she would be late. “Oh, you always say that snow my ice cone. You're never late okay! Don’t worry so much”, he said to her and ruffled her hair. He nodded to her as she asked if they had to split up to find more info about the rat. He started to walk around and tried to talk to people but they all seemed in a hurry.

But he didn’t mind that he would just keep looking for someone that actually would answer his questions. He walked up to a girl with flowers and he started to ask if she had seen the rat run around. She didn’t know anything about it and she shook her head. Her ponytail was flying around from the movements. Well, that was one lead not going anywhere. He walked further around and after failing to find the location from different person’s he was starting to lose hope. He sighed and brushed his hand through his hair. What to do he thought.

But then he saw a young boy running through the crowd. He grabbed the boy by his hood and then pulled him closer. “Hai boy here a jewel. Have you seen a rat on your travels through the city?”, he asked the boy. The boy took the jewel and then looked at Chelvaric. “I may have seen it. Five jewels and ill tell you where”, the boy said and he looked with a smug on his face. Well, it seemed the kids in the city were quite rude. But he didn’t care he was more interested in the rat. He gave the jewels to the boy and with a grin, he said it was at the west side of the city where an abandoned house was.

He walked around till he found Snow again still asking people about the rat. “Snow I heard from a young boy that the rat is at the other side of the city. Let’s go check it out maybe it’s there I don’t know if we can trust him though”, he said to her and thought if the boy maybe had lied just to get the jewels. He was smirking hard when he left.

”5 people and I’ve yet to find any information.”

The youth sighed, folding her arms across her chest and shook her head in disappointment. She had originally figured that the townsfolk would at least know something about the mutated rat, but apparently, her assumptions were wrong. While she was busy questioning shop keepers and some customers, Chelvaric was doing the same on the other side of the street, until he approached towards her and informed her that the rat was located at an abandoned house on the other side of the city, based on the information that he had gained. Thankfully, someone was aware about the news of the mutated rat, otherwise the two mages would have been walking around the entire town and ask questions for the entire day.

”Let’s go then.”

Snowflake suggested, meandering through the swirls and eddies of people as she pushed herself forward among the crowd. It should not be that hard to find, she pondered, since there were barely any buildings in the outskirts of the town. Though it had been brief in reality, the journey to their destination seemed to have stretched on for eons to her, as if time was thinned out into a linear form that made her steps just a tad bit slower, if not from the unbearable heat. Beneath the linings of her worn soles was the sound of scattering, most notably tiny mounds of pebble and dirt that filtered through the spaces in her steps.

There, in barren land, laid a building among the ruins of the other construction, some demolished while some were in progress of being built. The building was not difficult to locate since it was the only structure that has not been demolished yet and not to mention, it was abandoned. There were barely any people as well, apart from the few construction employers who were hammering down the nails along the railway. Snowflake creaked the door open, peeking slowly inside, ensuring herself to not make any noises so as to prevent the rat from scaring away. In the shadows of the building was a large rat, its red eyes piercing through her gaze. This is it.

Chelvaric Walderkat
He looked at Snow and was waiting for her response on his question. It seemed she was all ready for it as she said they should go. They walked through the huge amounts of people that were out on the streets at this hour. He pushed himself through groups of passing people. He hated it when it was so busy. He didn’t like crowds and having to push through all of them was even more annoying. The smell of sweat filled his nose every time he got pushed against someone. After a while, he just pinched his nose and walked further. It took a long time to get past all the people. But once they arrived in the more calmer parts of crocus are they were at the outskirts where not a lot of people lived. A lot of the slums were here but they weren’t there. They were in the reconstruction area. A lot of buildings were being worked on and others were finished but didn’t house any owners yet. Between them were very old houses that had been abandoned for a long time. Chelvaric looked around for the building they needed but it was Snow who found the building. The house was falling apart. Bricks were broken in the walls and there were holes in the roof. The shutters in front of the windows were hanging loose on their hinges.

Snow slowly opened the door and peeked inside before she went into the house. Chelvaric slowly followed her inside and saw the red eyes piercing from the dark. Chelvaric sneaked to the side where some old crates were stacked and slowly walked through the darkness. He was so slow that nothing could hear him. Being a cat could be very useful. After a slow walk, he arrived behind the rat. He slowly pulled his sword out and slashed forwards as he aimed for the rat. But the rat was too fast and sprinted to Snow dodging his attack.

The wooden floorboard creaked as they walked inside the building, her eyes fastened onto the rat to make sure that it does not escape. Despite how the rat was aware of their presence, it appeared that the animal was not frightened but continued to stare at them and observed their movements. The rat was much larger than she had expected, most likely due to the potion that was being tested in the laboratory. It does not seem much of a threat albeit, Snowflake made a note to herself not to underestimate her foes regardless of their size, for appearances can be highly deceptive. She figured that her partner would have some plan to catch the rat and thus, she let him approach the rat before he swung down his sword, but to no avail.

The rat began to escape and scuttled towards the door but Snowflake reacted fast enough to take a large step and reach out to shut the door close. The lights inside the building was dim so she could hardly see anything inside, however, being an android has its own perks. She could read statistics of her enemy, whether it was a person or an animal. Though the numbers may not give the exact coordinates of her enemy, she had a rough idea of where it might be located. With her hand slightly outstretched forwards, she slowly walked forth and immediately bent over within one swift movement and felt a soft texture brushed against her gloves.

Without any hesitation, she clasped her hands around the animal and held it firmly while the mutated rat wiggled in her hands. She grasped onto its mouth to ensure that it does not attempt to bite her, otherwise the disease it contained might be transmitted into her blood.

”I got it. Open the door for me. We have to kill it and bury it.”

Chelvaric Walderkat
Chelvaric looked at the rat as it ran to Snow. it was a lot larger then the rats he usually hunted but he didn’t mind that. That was actualy better, then it would be a funner hunt. He didn’t wanted to eat it though. Because the rat looked green and it’s eyes where red. His fur looked really unhealthy and he had a stench coming from him that was puke worthy. The rat ran away as fast as It could but before he could sprint out of the door it was catched by Snow. He was surprised by her quick handeling in this darkness. He nodded to her when she commanded him to kill it and burry it. He walked closer and sliced the neck of the rodent with one smooth cut. The blood poured out of the rodent and fell on the ground. It was purple instead of red, yet another sign that this rat wasn’t normal at all.

He took the body from snow and walked outside of the house. He threw the rat’s body on the ground and took a spade that was standing against the wall. The spade was really rusty and probably not used in a long time but he didn’t mind at all. It was harder to get through the earth but after a bit he finished the hole and threw the rat into it. After he buried it he turned to Snow.

“Well that’s it let’s get our reward I guess.”, he said to her in a calm voice.

-job finished-
