QUEST

Quest: Dungeons & Brothers

Rank: B

Type: Good

Requirements:

  • User: Finn

Client:
Jake: Jake is Finn's companion, but more than that, he's Finn's older brother. An orange colored bulldog that has attained speech, the ability to walk on two legs and even magic, Jake is a brave and independent dog. He will put Finn's happiness and well-being above his own.

Summary: Regardless of how Finn has grown from it, the obvious effects of his loss in the tournament has affected even Jake. The dog has noticed that Finn has been depressed, and that he doesn't quite understand how to move forward. With this, Jake can only move in the direction that they both know.

That means to take Finn into a new dungeon. Jake has heard, through very reliable sources, of a new dungeon that has opened up. The dungeon is more of an exploratory one with smaller beasts, but should be just the thing that Finn needs to shake himself free of his rut. There is no definite end goal. The dungeon is completely unexplored, and therefore no one knows exactly what sort of treasure lies within. That, however, is what makes the whole thing all the more exciting.

Enemies:
Bogleech: This lumpy, hairy, dripping globule, with a cute little vertical mouth and a daisy on its head, guards one of two paths in a dungeon set up by Finn and Jake's late father to house the family sword. Our heroes opt to take another route because this poor little guy is "super gross," initially hurting the monster's feelings until they assure him that they're just his "bros" being "real" with him, which cheers him up again. I'm glad his saga had a happy ending.

Pentagram Eye: The final boss of Dad's Dungeon, this crystal-eyed creature never stops laughing and laughing with a devilish glee. This creature is pure evil, set up to guard this dungeon due to its willingness to kill anything set before it. While the beasts body goes on with a seemingly endless sea of mass, the adventurers who make it this far need only deal with his head, two arms, and his terrifying crystalized eyes.

Objective: Finn will explore the dungeon alongside Jake. Throughout it, he will have to find a way to cope with the loss of the tournament. Once he comes to terms with it, he will find access to the treasure room.

Extra Rewards:

  • Finn Sword

Details:

  • Create a topic in Crocus, in the woods outside of town. This is where the dungeon has been discovered. Jake and Finn will be the first two to explore this newly discovered area.
  • Jake will tell Finn of the new dungeon that has appeared. He won't reveal the source, but he will ensure that the source was a reliable one. Together they will enter the dungeon.
  • Jake won't pry into the tournament at first, simply stating that this is the perfect way for Finn to get his mind off that and onto better things. They will begin the exploration slowly, only finding simple puzzles and weak beasts.
  • Jake and Finn will eventually find themselves at a dead end. There will be a door, but nothing will open it. Brute force and alternative roots have proven ineffective. There seems to be no way past that point.
  • Now unable to proceed, Finn and Jake will begin discussing the tournament. Jake will pry deeper, regardless of how Finn reacts. This could cause a slight altercation between the two.
  • Eventually, Finn will accept the loss for what it is. With Jake's help, in one way or another, Finn will come to understand that it can help him grow. This acceptance and peace of mind will reveal a key hole in the door, as well as a new beast awakening and falling from the ceiling above. Around its neck lies the key, and Finn and Jake must take down the beast together. The beast is strong, made literally to counteract whoever made it that far.
  • Finn and Jake, upon defeating the beast, will then be left with the key and the door before them. Finn will have to open the door, but both of them may enter.
  • Within the treasure room will be nothing that can be taken, the lone exception being a sword at the end of a long and narrow path. It will be up to Finn whether to go alone, or to walk it with Jake.
  • Upon reaching the end with the sword, Jake will try to grab it first. After an unsuccessful attempt (or several), Finn will be able to properly pull the sword from its resting point.
