Saewoo stood on the arena, as the crowd roared below. They were waiting for the match to begin. Saewoo waved his hand, addressing the crowd. "Ladies and gentleman, I introduce to you, the first round of the Martial Arts Tournament! Our contestants this match are.. Finn and Lucifer!"

Saewoo then hopped off the arena, allowing the contestants to come up.

This tournament had both excited Finn and torn him away from meeting a new friend. With that in mind, he was entering it with mixed feelings. He had been teleported into Baska that morning with the odd pendent that had been given to all entries. Once there, he was informed the details of the tournament- As well as who he'd be facing. Some person named Lucifer, it had seemed.

Finn was the first to take the arena, walking up the steps and going to the exact center of the arena, than two meters further. Turning to face the steps where Lucifer was suppose to enter from, Finn rolled his shoulders one last time. He had stretched, warmed up, and prepared himself for this tournament. He was at his current best- And he'd be doing as much as he could to go as far as he could. This would become the ultimate test to see how far his training had come- And the first step was Lucifer.

Odin †

A tournament, one that would decide who among the participants were the strongest in hand to hand combat. No magic was permitted, nor were any items, this was an old fashioned brawl, and one that Odin could not wait to begin. He had entered this using his Grimoire Heart codename, as were the rules, and so it was Lucifer, the name of the demon within him, that was going to be cheered by the crowd once Odin defeated his opponent: a man named Finn, going by the announcer's words.

Having rested up well and received as much sleep as he could possibly want in preparation for the fight, Odin walked up the stairs and onto the raised arena, noting the position of Finn as he did so, who stood directly between Odin and the dead center of the circle. Instead of moving, and potentially leaving himself open, the dark mage would simply stand where he was, on the circumference of the circular arena, and allow his opponent to begin.

As Lucifer made his way into the stage, he seemed much like Finn in away. No actual stance, no armor, just a readiness to fight. In a way, Finn admired that. In a way, he also felt a light intimidation from it. The man he'd be fighting either had no idea what he was doing (as many seemed to be in Fiore), or he knew exactly what he was doing. Regardless of which it was, Finn wouldn't be taking this match easily.

As Odin took up residence at the far end of the ring, eight meters away. The moment that the round begun, Finn dashed forward four meters in a fraction of a second. At that point, however, he'd stop. His guard had never dropped, ready to react at a moments notice, but for the time being he simply wanted to see how Odin would react to a dash in that he couldn't have known was going to stop. How was it that Odin thought?

Odin †

With Odin ready on the edge of the arena, the match began, and Finn wasted no time in acting, dashing towards Odin from his location, eight metres away. Odin knew how he wanted to play this fight, as he knew exactly how he had almost lost his previous fight under similar circumstances. Then, it had been a bar brawl in the middle of Crocus, against one of the mages who was also in this tournament. Back then, Odin had lost his fight, but Lucifer had won in the end. This time, there was no relying on Lucifer to come to the dark mages aid, he would have to fight and win himself.

Finn's dash caused Odin to instantly tense and focus in on his opponent, mostly to keep an eye on where he was going. Finn was dashing towards Odin at a noticeably fast speed, roughly the speed Odin himself felt he could dash at. But then, he stopped, having only covered half the distance between the two mages. Now being within range of a second dash, Odin's eyes stayed fixed on his opponent, just as his feet had stayed in place. There was now four meters between the two mages, and one of them was going to have to close in. The question remained, who?

Finn had paused for only a moment to see how it was Lucifer reacted, and much to his surprise the man hadn't moved. Tensed up and prepared himself, yes, but hadn't moved preemptively. The adrenaline in his body began pumping, and excitement built in his chest. His stomach began to feel like little butterflies were flying around it, his skin gaining goosebumps as his entire body became more sensitive, prepared for the fight ahead. It would be a good one, regardless of how it turned out.

Stepping forward with two large steps to close the gap to two meters. Finn's arms were already up, one in front of his face and one at his chest so that he could easily switch between offense and defense- They had been there ever since the distance was four meters. This was Odin's last chance to strike first.

Odin †

Another moment passed, and the battle had still not truly began. Odin could hear murmurs from the crowd: some getting bored of waiting for the fight, others on the edge of their seats as they prepared for the first strike, a strike that Finn seemed content on not sending. Having started with a gap of eight metres, and then lowering it to four, Finn halved it once more by placing himself two metres away from Odin's location on the circumference, his arms raised at his face and chest as he waited once more to see if the dark mage was going to act. This time, he would.

Dashing at his maximum speed, Odin would reach Finn in a fraction of a second, dashing low towards the man's stomach. Having already prepared himself for the attack, Odin's fists were colliding with Finn just as he reached the man, converting all the momentum of the dash into force on the fighter. The first fist went straight to Finn's solar plexus, aiming to wind him. The second jab, hitting just after the first, would strike the man's abdomen, causing severe pain to his stomach.

Having dashed low, Odin had two distinct advantages over his opponent. Firstly, there was no way for Finn to know which way Odin would attack, or even if he would, which would give the man very little time to react to the dash, and even less time to do anything about the strikes. The second advantage was put into place by Finn himself. Having raised his two arms higher, his view of Odin would be partially blocked as the Grimoire mage dashed towards him, which would mean it would be harder to even know the attack was coming, let alone react to it.

If the two attacks were to go as planned, with Finn winded and no doubt unable to retaliate as he was struck, due to the solar plexus having been struck, Odin would dash once more, this time to his left for four metres. He was planning to get away from the circumference, as well as his opponent, while keeping his eyes fixed on Finn as he did so. If all went to plan, Odin would have started the fight and winded his opponent, which would make him, at least for now, winning.

Lucifer had made the first move- However, he seemed to be making the same choices that the ones he fought previously in Crocus had. So many people were so eager to finish a fight that they never stopped to assess the situation. It wasn't their fault, really. Not everyone had been raised in the jungle, forced to survive as a way of living.

Finn's stance was somewhat akin to a muay thai stance mixed with taekwondo- Two arms up, non dominant leg in front. This was not a stance that obscured vision, but rather one that was made to offer protection for vital areas in the upper body. Lucifer seemed to process the stance in a way that gave the advantage to one who struck low- That, however, was wrong.

Finn was not in a position to sit by idly and watch as Lucifer made his move- To try to play this fight reactionary wouldn't quite be his style, especially not in the first few rounds of the tournament. As Odin dashed forward, Finn had time to process the dash before any sort of attack would be thrown.

The thing with martial artists were that reactions often happened quickly- Both were on edge. Both were prepared. This was not a man getting the drop on an unsuspecting man, but trying to close the distance to a trained fighter. As Odin shot forward, Finn acted. Firmly pressing his left foot to the ground, Finn would spike his right knee upwards.

Lucifer was coming in low, dashing forward with his face on equal level to Finn's chest. Lucifer likely had a plan in how to attack him, but his mistake was that he had to close the distance before he could send his strike. With Finn's forward motion, combined with Lucifer's dash, it would seem as if the distance would close faster than Odin was prepared for- Before any attack was thrown. He would be dashing, full speed and face first, into Finn's knee that was aimed for the exact center of his face.

When the opponent's face would collide with Finn's knee, there were two options. Either the blow would knock him out, or more likely, it would knock Odin's face up some. Finn was already acting though- There was no time to pause. This was not a sparring match between friends to improve. This was a fight between two warriors who wished to walk away as victor.

The same moment his leg began to drop back down, Finn would use the motion to twist his body downwards, bringing an elbow to the top of Odin's head. This second attack was combo'd off the first in a way that they were mere moments apart. The question remained- Could Lucifer possibly react? And if so, would it even matter?

Odin †

Finn was more ready for an attack than Odin had first considered, but of course he was. They were both facing each other, watching each other's every move and being ready for anything, it was only natural that he'd be on his top form and ready for any attack. It was one stupid miscalculation, but it was going to hurt. The dash had gone through just as desired, with Odin now being directly in front of Finn but lower down. However, as Odin dashed towards his opponent, his eyes had stayed on Finn's lower half, as that was where Odin was about to be in front of. From this, Odin saw the tensing of Finn's body, and watched the man's knee come up to meet Odin's face, as the dark mage reached the body of his foe. Odin knew there was no way to avoid the attack, due to the speed at which he was dashing, but still he had a plan.

As the knee came rising up to meet Odin's face, the dark mage would wait and choose. Odin would collide with Finn's knee with his forehead, headbutting the man to cancel out the forces. The knee was still causing the damage, and it certainly hurt, but Odin was able to stop himself from being at his opponent's mercy, and being shot upwards.

Finn didn't wait to see if his attack had gone through as planned, bringing his knee back as soon as possible and starting his second attack, by twisting to allow his elbow to collide with Odin's head. Unfortunately, Odin's head would not be where Finn expected it, and his attack would go sailing over the real location of Odin, who used all the power he had to drive his two fists directly into Finn's solar plexus at once. Finn would have acted too quickly in instantly going for his elbow that he would not be able to notice the true location of Odin.

Once his two fists collided with Finn's body, Odin would instantly dash to be behind Finn, moving at his maximum speed which would leave his opponent, who would already be surprised by the attack, unable to even react. Once behind his opponent, Odin would waste no time in sending a quick jab to the man's temple, aiming to end the fight in an instant.

Dashing at 6m/s, as well as taking Finn's size into account, the rough width of the man would be less than a metre, probably far less. So, by taking a metre as the benchmark, Odin would have to dash about a metre to get behind Finn (half a metre to get to his side, the another half to be in the exact same place but behind him). At 6m/s, dashing a metre would only take 1/6s of a second, or 0.167s. The average human reaction time for visual stimulus is 0.25s, meaning that, even on edge (although there would be a slight delay due to not expecting the attack), there would no way to even register the dash is happening until after it has happened, placing Odin behind Finn before the latter has even realised that Odin's moved.

(OOC: Ignoring the fact that I'm stronger than you even if it's not a rank higher, you could not negate a knee with a headbutt unless you were ridiculously stronger than me- Not the damage, nor the force behind it. I will be claiming my hits, and your timeline is essentially null)

As Lucifer closed the gap between the two, and Finn did his actions, the next occurrences were rather intense. Lucifer had only a few options- The one he went with was an attempt to negate Finn's knee. However, his mistake was to try to do so with a headbutt. The act was one of desperation- To hope to negate the full force of a knee to the face by using a headbutt as his own attack back.

Sadly, it would never work. Lucifer's head would still snap back- It could never have negated Finn's knee, but he certainly had to try. As the knee connected with the forehead (which could never have gotten full force anyways), Odin would both suffer damage and daze, but also have his head snapped back. Due to this, Finn's elbow would slam into the top left of Odin's head, right near his temple. The attack would either knock him out or daze him again, meaning he would fall to the ground regardless.

As he began falling, Finn was falling on top of him. The moment that Odin hit the ground, the bottom of Finn's fist would hammer down (hammer fist) onto the back of Odin's neck at the base of the skull, likely knocking him out before he could react. Due to his inability to block or dodge either attack, he would be losing the fight. After all- Finn wouldn't stop at one hammer fist. He would continue until the fight was stopped, or until Odin was saved.

Break down Time

  • You acknowledge Finn's actions in the timeline by driving your face into his knee.
  • You intentionally drove your face into someone's knee who is stronger than you by 10 points. Sure you have the endurance for a non AUTO KO but not by much. You still drove your face moving at maximum momentum into his knee in order to take a hit and give a hit. You don't have that much endurance to shrug off a hit like that. Even if it is not a auto KO it would throw you into a dazed/stun state because of how the exchange of blows go.
  • By acknowledging his knee his elbow would follow up. You can't just super armor through that like it's nothing.
  • By the first hit connecting the others would to putting you over damage anyways.
