Another bone snapped. Nate smirked as his captive screamed, and he loosened his grip on the now limp arm. The informant tried to get out a feeble attempt at an excuse, but found it difficult to speak. Primarily due to Nate's boot pressing down on his head.

Arlon Venko, notorious information broker and valued member of the criminal underworld. Magic user too, though thankfully Nathaniel had managed to get the drop on him and get the upper hand, in spite of his backup being late. Words would be had. He didn't know the other Grimoire; not well at any rate. Since his magic was still being broken in, it wasn't of any use to him now, the runic tattoos were still setting in, and the scars healing. He'd cornered Venko in his apartment, managed to get him with the lights off as he came in, using a handful of parlour tricks and minor spells to make the man think he was a great deal more powerful than he actually was.

Nate had prior to his arrival conjured a skull-like helmet to hide his face, with curled demonic horns and glowing purple eyes to add to his intimidation factor. Wisps of darkness leaked from the blurred edges of the conjuration.

It was  a gray autumn day outside. But not only outside, for some people it was also gray inside. Nastasya was on her way to well punish some stupidity when she walked into a wench that thought she could do better and call upon the Rune Knights or whatever Knights she had planned on. This made the woman late.

She was standing in an alley, behind the chick that would become a little pawn in the chess game that was currently being played, Nasty obviously played the Queen. Her one eye narrowed as she looked at the blonde bimbo that was eyeing the window of the house that she would have to enter, probably through the back door. She crossed her arms and coughed, looking in the surprised and scared face of the wench. "Surprise," She pulled the blonde towards her by holding on the upperarm. "Let's join the feast, shall we?" Dressed in a black leather set of trousers, a black matching t-shirt and a dark blue cloak that hid her  dark purple hair, she pulled the blonde with her to the house and simply opened the front door. She acted as if she was chitchatting about the weather and the rest of the season for suspicious on-lookers. It was obviously none of their business.

As soon as they were inside the house where she would meet her fellow Guildmember, she muttered that she didn't like girls like the blonde and pulled her up the stairs to the apartment by holding onto her hair. She threw her literally in the room where she saw Nathaniel or well she suppose that it was him, considering the helmet, but at least that was the informant that they needed to teach a lesson. "Sorry I'm late." She said while following into the room, walking to the blonde that was now sobbing while laying on the ground. "I think they are a couple."

Nathaniel's menacing visage turned sharply to inspect the newcomers. The woman slammed onto the hardwood floor, sobbing.
"You're late." Nate growled, there was a crack as he turned his attention to Venko's fingers. One down, four to go.
"I hope that you keep protocol better than time." The helmet distorted his voice, altered it from a low rumble to something far more ominous. The glowing eyes regarded the woman. Loose end tied up at least. There was still the matter at hand though. Literally.
"I've heard Mr Venko, that you're the man to speak to when it comes to information."
"You've got the wrong guy, I swear." Another finger snapped, and he screamed again.
"I'm in no mood for games, nor do I have the patience to pretend otherwise."
"I've got powerful friends, you're making a big mistake" two snaps
"I don't think you quite grasp the full scope of the situation. This is data recovery, though I'm not adverse to it becoming murder. Maybe two counts" Venko followed the eyeline of the demon thing to the woman on the floor.
"No."
"Looks like we've found a soft spot." Venko's thumb splintered "another one."

Really.. some people complained about absolutely everything. She was here wasn't she? She didn't start a fight in the middle of the street, she pretended to be long lated friends when she entered the building and after that, she just became Nasty. But she didn't say anything, they didn't need any information shared between them as it was not sure what to do with the two other people in the room. The only thing she did was role her eyes.

She crossed her arms while remain standing a bit distant away from Venko and just checking him out while her colleague was working on breaking fingers, although she saw the flicker in the eyes too, the shifting to the blonde. Her eye remained cold and distant but a small smile played on her lips while she walked passed the two of them and grabbed blondy at her hair and pushed a knife to her troat. "Don't scream, the party hasn't started yet." Just to make sure that Venko knew they were serious business. He might have strong friends, but did he want stronger enemies. "Just give the damn information we ask."

Nasty seemed to get the idea and immediately began to apply a little more pressure. Got that right at least. Venko's obliterated arm flopped onto the ground as he released it, and removed his boot to provide a moment of hope. Venko took the bait and began to hastily crawl towards the woman. Nate slammed his foot down on the back of the man's head.
"More talkative?" Venko shrank a little, clearly more compliant.
"What do you want to know?"
Nate moved around in order to lift the man up by his lapels
"I want to know everything. Rune Knight numbers, movements, dark mage locations, magic details for every other broker you've had dealings with. I would also like to know where to find them."

It always amazed Nathaniel how a few broken bones and some threats could yield so much information. Though once the well ran dry, Venko outlived his usefulness. Nate tossed him onto the ground at Nasty's feet and crossed the room to the open window.
"You've given me a lot to think about. Doubt you'll think about anything ever again though. Help yourself" he turned back to Nasty for the last part, nodding in the direction of the two cowering people on the living room floor.

Was she a patient woman? Well that did depend on what the prize was that she got for being patient. This was breaking a person, which was interesting to see, it was also something that Grimoire Heart needed to do if they didn't want any information to leak and possibly make them fight in the open, something their Guildmaster didn't appreciate.

But she was patient, because she knew. She wondered what was going to happen, not knowing Nathaniel and the way he worked but she liked to watch. She didn't mind cruelty and torture. Heck, why else would she walk to the woman and keep a knife on her troat, right? It was interesting to see how the man his love and devotion probably went to the woman, because a few seconds release and he came crawling. Fortunately for him or actually unfortunately, it was exactly the idea and Nasty could feel the woman shiver underneath her fingers, the poor thing.

Help yourself... it didn't take long to register, less than a second maybe. She hadn't expect this but a grin appeared on her face. "Say goodbye." She whispered as she pulled the woman closer to her own chest and released the knife from her throat. There was this obvious relieved sigh from her chest but that was when Nasty quickly handled and pushed the knife right through the middle of her chest, a little bit to the left. However she was quick, as she always liked and before the man could scream no, she sliced his throat. The blood splashed in her face, the only thing she didn't like about killing. She blinked a few times and looked at Nate. "Nice working with you." Which she had done maybe once or maybe twice. It was never boring. Something necessary for her crazy mind.

"Can't say the same" Nate replied dispelling his mask and pulling out a cigarette. He sparked up and closed the window, pulling the curtains across shortly after. "You have anything else you have to get out of your system or are we good?" The disdain in his voice was fairly plain to hear, mainly because he made no attempt at hiding it. After a brief inspection of the bodies, Nate confirmed that both broker and spouse were dead. It had been done quickly at least. Efficiency was admirable. No suffering. Not like some of the animals he had attempted to work with. This was a job after all, not a game; he didn't need giggling little psychopaths who made messes too large to clean up. In, out, done. Preferably with as little killing as possible, save for when the council or other dark guilds were involved. This had been the latter, so he didn't care. He was however silently aware that his partner may have some such desire to otherwise mutilate the corpses. Thus the offer had been made. Could he continue to trust her, or was this another animal?

Hmm was it the stories that she heard about him? That he didn't like the killing and doing the bad stuff? It was otherwise him that made the information person suffer, break almost every single bone in his body. She had just slid his throat, saved a lot of pain to mend those bones, in the right ways. Otherwise you had to break them again. She wondered how Blondi was found outside, did she jump? She looked out of the window, making sure that no one saw her before she turned back to her partner in crime. "Let me fresh up, than we can leave this place." She let her shadow look around before she found the bathroom, without touching it with her hands but the cloth of her cloak, she opened the door and tab and made sure her face and hands were without blood.

She couldn't remember his name correctly, but she made sure she was dressed properly to go outside. "What do you mean by system?" She said because she thought about it again, "I only kill when necessary." Alright her grandfather was an exception, that was because it was necessary to hurt her grandmother in such a way. She wondered for a short amount of time if the woman was still alive but quickly shrugged it off because she didn't care.

"Good. last thing I need is a rabid dog." He flipped up the collar of his coat and walked over to the door, running a hand through his ashen hair to neaten it. "There's a diner down the end of the street, probably a good spot to observe the outcome of this little venture, see if any Knights start sniffing around and the like. Coming?" He was standing by the door now, hands in his pockets, tired expression and smouldering cigarette between his lips. This was probably the first time he'd exposed his eye patch to Nasty, that and his albino-ish appearance, white hair and a purple eye were both certainly of note, and the patch of course. It was the main reason he wore his sunglasses so frequently, at least then he'd only be taken for old, even if it wasn't true. He didn't like being stared at at the best of times. Night had fallen now though so sunglasses weren't really an option, as that would only look even more odd.

He was a very interesting character that is. Nasty wasn't sure what to say but she was sure not feeling like acting today, if she wanted to know him, he should get to know her. After she had gone to the bathroom to get the blood splashes of her face, she fixed her eyepatch back on. Her left lilac eye was blind again, just like when she was three, however this was an eye made of magical ice and she was able to see ghost when she was young till when she was nineteen, after that it changed and the habit of wearing her eyepatch was still there. She might have continued leaving it off because she would play a role, but her role was herself, so she did put it on.

She came back to hear him talking about a diner and she indeed did fancy something to eat, it was well past lunch time and she had skipped it once again but was now feeling like she was starving to death. Nastasya liked eating, so she was all up for it. Besides, seeing the after show was interesting too. She wished she had worn a better jacket but it was too late for that now. "Are we pretending a date? So I know how to behave at the diner, because I'm coming along. Or would you rather call it a business meeting?" She shortly brushed her dark purple hair with her fingers as she watched her partner. His eyepatch, his pale skin and the one eye colour.

He was older than she was, but she had no idea by how much. She was interesting to figure out how he would work together with her if they got more missions in the future. She would see. She made sure her cloak was done and followed Nathaniel outside as soon as he was ready. What would she eat?

"Call it what you like. I don't really care." the door opened and he stepped into the hallway, leaving the door closed enough so that the bodies wouldn't be seen by passers by. Didn't want to get caught in the crime scene after all. Their excursion had thus far been silent, so they were probably under the radar still. Unless of course the woman that his present ally had brought in had been going for help and shouted something on her way out. She must have been behind the target when he opened the door, and bolted when she saw the horned skull made from writhing shadows. That would be enough to get a person moving. Good thing then that the blunder had been caught by Nastasya, otherwise they could have been rooted out before he'd gathered the information he'd been after. Ultimately, she'd been of more value than he'd initially thought she'd be.

The cold breeze from outside blasted up the stairs as another tennant came in from the cold, holding the door open long enough for Nate to exit, grunting a 'thanks' as he passed.

Nastasya was holding the border of her cloak to make it look like she was cold as soon as she followed Nathaniel. She would make it a business meeting or so, something that didn't make them have to be close. She didn't feel like it was a smart option to do, maybe later one day. She wasn't sure if she wanted to continue working together of course.

She gave one of her most charming smiles to the tennant as she passed him after Nate as a way of saying thank you. Making sure she turned her head the way that you didn't notice her eyepatch, covered by her long hair. She followed Nathaniel without saying a word. She would just wait and keep her eyes and ears open for possible changes. She had been on time with the wench. That was a good thing. "Man I'm starving," was the only thing she said when she saw the diner. It looked too happy to her liking but on the other hand she could appreciate it. Her split personality made everything easier. It had bright neon letters calling it Eddie's Diner and she hoped they served cheese fries and parfaits, otherwise she had no idea what she should be eating.
It was weird to think that she ate and random times and literally everything when you looked at her with her wasp waist and just being skinny in general.

Nate opted to keep his hands in his pockets, and opened the door with a firm kick, though not a dramatic one. He nodded to a few of the people who looked around and trudged over to a vacant table by the window, withdrawing his hands and rubbing them together to generate some warmth. The waitress walked over and he ordered himself a black coffee, taking out his notebook and a pen as he made his request, smiling politely as he did so.

He had to get the information down relatively quickly before he forgot it. He hadn't had the opportunity to do it as the secrets were tumbling out of the broker's mouth; that was the second reason he wanted to sit down and take a moment to note down the important details and names. More brokers on the list now, he crossed off one of the names. There were a few more wells he could tap, then dispose of accordingly. If he could get them to blab with a few broken bones and threats, then others could do the same, and they would find out about him. No chance he was losing the element of surprise.

Nastasya skipped behind Nathaniel as he kicked open the door and smiled because she was really excited to get food. That would always make her happy. She continued skipping after the man in front of her. It was good she wasn't wearing heels this time, it would be not good on the linoleum floor. She would maybe even hate the noise.

So he ordered a coffee and she was digging in the menu, although she just said cheese fries without finding it. She also ordered a coffee, black because that was good and the parfait would come later. She could still pick the flavour. She looked outside and leaned on her left hand, looking bored probably. She was actually watching the neighborhood in case something was happening. But not yet, although it seemed someone was looking around in quite some strange way. "Oh here it goes." She muttered from the corner of her mouth.

"Hm?" Nate didn't look up from his scribbling, noting down some of the Rune Kngiht information that had been given to him. He'd been out of the organisation for some time now, things had changed a hell of a lot. After a few gulps of coffee, he looked out of the window to see what Nastasya was talking about and spotted the man looking around outside.
"Probably a Squire, or a low ranked Knight, they get sent in on domestic disturbances and the like, if memory serves. When someone with a sword turns up, then we need to move, and perhaps change attire. Knowing the MC they'll get a description and start looking around within a half hour. And we do no want to be caught." Satisfied the man outside wasn't a threat at present, he went back to noting down the information he'd gathered. There was still an amount to get through. Now of course they might even be on a time limit. Just their luck.

She kept putting the cheese fries in her mouth. Interesting to note to herself, he had been in the Council, how else would he know this information. Why wouldn't she just ask. "You were once a Rune Knight?" She asked, talking softly, she hated when people were eavesdropping. Although she sometimes had to do it herself. Besides she wasn't sure if he wanted to talk since he was noting things down from the conversation with Venko and well it was important, it should be noted down correctly. But she was also a curious woman. Mystery man here made it more interesting because of that.

She continued eating fries and looking outside like nothing important was going on. Being bored was so natural to her that she could even fake it at whatever moment it was necessary. She sighed loudly but it was all just for show. The waiter came to ask if everything was alright and she smiled at him and said the fries were delicious before she looked outside again. Making sure to keep an eye on the squire and in general looking around. "Where do we go after this?" Again she muttered from the corner of her mouth, she was sure he was listening and this time she hoped that if he answered he would keep to look at the notes and just pretend he wasn't talking to her.

"I was. Does that bother you?" Nate looked up from his work and placed his pen down on the table. This line of inquiry had almost ended up in him being stabbed more than once. Most Grimoires weren't fans of the council, to the extent that even a turncoat would incur nothing less than an explosion of rage and a brandished weapon. In his time as a Knight he'd racked up a heft death toll, and had inflicted heavy casualties in the dark mage population, made sense that some would be pissed. Still though, his current allegiance, however tenuous should be the focus, not his previous ones.

The Squire was still in the same area, hadn't moved far but was still sniffing around. No doubt about it, Nastasya had been right, he was a dog. Holding position maybe?
"If things get more serious, we leave one at a time and rendevouz elsewhere. If we leave together, it'll be far too obvious. If they're looking for two, splitting up will give us a little more time."

Nastasya shrugged when he admitted. "It's none of my business. I have been in Phantom Lord but things change, things happen." She eyed him shortly before looking outside again. "I don't even care if you leave the Guild," avoiding to say the name out loud. "It would be a shame, not everyone is as fun to hang around with." which was a mix of sarcasm and just normal talk, it was fun up till now but things again might change, she didn't know the future, so who knew. "I rather not be captured myself. Keeps the fun out of my life to be imprisoned. I worked hard to stay on free feet. Hence why I do not do things when it's unnecessary." Here she was revering to what she had said before that she didn't kill for fun, she only killed when it was necessary and traitors. That meant that even if Nathaniel left Grimoire Heart he wasn't a traitor, as soon as he leaked information or used it against them he was. Not that she thought she could handle him, sure she was proud and arrogant but she was also clever. She wouldn't be sure, she didn't care at the moment.

"I think we must not wait too long, we should rather leave separate with a big time difference. Let's meet at the fountain in the middle of the city center. There is only one, can't miss." She said with a small smile as she turned back to look at Nathaniel. She had a small plan to leave this restaurant with a good reason, she just had to be patient for a waiter to walk past and not pay attention. "See you later." She whispered as she stood up and watched how he dropped some drinks over her clothing. She didn't cast a big scene, she watched the waiter apologize and just said with a very sad voice that she had to go home now and change. So she left. She dumped her cloak around her waist when she was far away from the café and continued in her black clothing through the night into the city center from the outback where she was now. That's how she disappeared, she didn't mind the cold, was born in it. It was boring.

Nate looked up in time to see Nasty's performance, and managed to shield his notebook in time. It would be a pain if it got ruined now. There was a great deal of information locked into its curled pages now. She exited the cafe and walked out into the night to take cover before the Knights arrived. Wise move, would probably give them even more time. His work was almost finished, so by the time his coffee ran out he'd probably be good to go and reconvene by the fountain.

Outside there were more sniffer dogs. Doubtful that they'd found the bodies, but made sense to get clear. It was then that he realised that Nastasya had escaped without paying for her food. Smart move. Apologising for the mess, Nate produced a handful of crumpled notes and made his exit. Once outside he ducked into an alley and snapped his fingers. His coat vanished, melting off of him like black smoke, replaced with another in a different style once the coat was done he ran a hand through his hair and it shifted in colour, turning black on contact with his fingertips. His disguise donned, he started walking towards the centre of town, where Nasty was waiting for him. Seemed they'd gotten away with murder.

She was patiently waiting for Nathaniel in the city centre. Sitting on the edge of the fountain and combing her purple hair with her fingers. She didn't even think about paying, she hadn't just thought about it. She did however now while she was laughing in herself about the whole scene. Her cloak was laying next to her on the edge. It would dry later, it was cold, it would probably be done in a minute.

She was actually wondering if this was going well, with Nathaniel that was. She found him interesting, maybe she could make a new friend. She knew she was obsessed with making friends when she was nineteen. Minerva, Lilith and Crowley but all had gone, might be killed, died or whatever way. She could find new friends but where they that important? She shrugged more for herself and waited, she knew which way to look and waiting for her possible friend to arrive.

"Kind of you to wait" Nathaniel said closing in on the woman seated on the fountain's edge "glad to see you made it out ok." He had lit up another cigarette, and it was silently smouldering as he made his approach. One hundred percent scott-free, off of a double homocide. Didn't exactly warm his heart, but it paid to get a man like that off the street. The woman hadn't been a necessity, though for the sake of staying under the radar it had to be done.

"Thank you for your assistance. I appreciate the help." He inclined slightly, a slight bow; old habits died hard if at all. He turned to leave, but stopped "there are of course, more brokers on the list now. Did you want to join me in tracking them down?" He had never intended to make a friend within Grimoire Heart, but at the same time he wasn't completely opposed to the idea.

Nastasya gave a small smile when Nathaniel came and she just gave the smile as an answer. She watched him, it was easier to watch one up and down if the person was standing in front of you. She didn't show that she was surprised that he said he appreciated the help, because he didn't like working with her when they were in the apartment.

She was prepared for the goodbye, but was indeed surprised by the invitation and arched her eyebrow. "That sounds like something to do, I'm in." Maybe friend it was indeed.
