Bishop Tamm

Personal

  Name: Bishop Kering

  Age: 28

  Gender: Male

  Class: Hierophant

  Rank: D-rank

  Guild: Guildless

  Tattoo: Left Pectoral

  Face: The Joker, DC Comics

Appearance

  Height: 5'11

  Weight: 127 lbs

  Hair: Green

  Eyes: Red

  Overall: Lithe; thin framed

Extra: Has stark white skin. Also has facial scars from either corner of his mouth cut up towards the respective ear which appear to have him always smiling, which he tries to cover up with red makeup further emphasizing the eternal smile across his lips.

Personality

Personality: Typically he talks a lot. He talks shit of his opponents, belittles them, makes fun of them. While he does not believe himself to be very strong, he likes to boast as if he were. You might reckon he likes the sound of his voice with how much he talks. Just as much if not more than how much he talks, he laughs. He laughs at everything.
When otherwise uncomfortable or upset, he masks his emotions, his voice becoming monotonous, his body still. His angry mirrors his happy, in that with both, he comes across as energetic, and he uses his hands to emphasize his words, his lilt sharp and upbeat, and communicated by his body language a sense of openness. If livid or frustrated, he speaks through grit teeth, shoulders hunched, fists raised as if in a boxing match, slouching but his muscles all tensed up.
As you will find out below, Bishop hates himself. It isn't some anxiety thing or some depression thing, it is just that he feels as though he is impartial towards himself. Because of this he is critical of his actions if only after they have been committed. In a way it helps him out sometimes, in that he can better himself in the things about himself that he is upset with. Of course there are some fundamental aspects of his behaviour with which he may become annoyed which he cannot modify as to his specifications, but that only annoys him more.
He really respects people with strong convictions even if they go against his ideals, though weakly founded convictions he finds contemptible. He has seen in his life many different kinds of people. They all varied in any aspect of people you could think of. As such he has a fairly founded frame of reference of a person, and of all the people the only ones who left impressions on him were those of strong convictions.
While much of the other aspects of his character may suggest that he is temperate, meek, kind, easily trampled on, or somehow benevolent - he isn't, lol. He is very wrathful when annoyed or humiliated, going to such lengths to actually harm his foe himself. With his anger abated, he may well leave the scene and forget about his target. But if given the opportunity to reduce his foe to a pile of bones and his rage burns strong, he would emulate certain characteristics of a sadist, mercilessly beating the shit out of his foe.

  Likes:

  • Candy: Mainly for the taste; he loves the sensation of the sweet, sugary goodness. All kinds of colours, flavours, different brands, various assortments, textures; the more there are, the better, in his opinion. I guess you could say he has a sweet tooth, almost as if he is addicted to the sensations evoked by candies. It literally does not matter to him what the candy is made of, he will eat tons of whatever is given to him as long as it is sweet. Also when the candy is upon his lips emotions and memories from his childhood, when he had developed this kind of dependency on candy surface, getting him into a kind of reverie of happiness reflecting upon said childhood.

  • Laughter: Perhaps developed as a coping mechanism to his depression and boredom with his life now, he takes to trying to keep his spirits up by laughing in the face of his depressed, boring life. To a fault, he can manage to find the humour in most of any situations. Especially when inappropriate, he will have the last laugh if he can help it. Some occasionally insist that his sense of humour is unhinged, and perhaps generally shitty. While his sense of wit may not be the absolute most sharp of any sense of wit from any shed, he continues to act like he's the funniest in the world.

  Dislikes:

  • Bishop: Of anything he has ever done his worst critic of himself is himself. He never lets himself off without thoroughly berating himself first. Moreover, he knows what he has done in his life, so he knows exactly how to judge himself for what he does in later events. He has the exact tally of all the hundreds of thousands of bad things which have burned themselves into his conscience, and the few good big things which occasionally earn him some relief from his verbal lashing on himself. Being hard on himself only ever has hurt him. I mean, sure there is that one or two times that he goes out of his way to be good to somehow balance his deeds, but the guilt and shame of what he regrets he has done weighs his soul to the emotional equivalent of bearing an elephant on your shoulders.

  • Children: They don't know anything. They don't understand anything. They're stupid. They're annoying. They do things they know you don't want them to do right in front of you. They scream in your ear. They go for low blows like it's a simple one-two punch. They're messy. They're smelly. Children are the mosquitoes of people. They cry when they see his face. They cry when the sky is too blue, when they are not allowed to touch the big red button which upon pressing they would explode and die and simultaneously be in large amounts of pain. Children are the epitome of lame.

  Motivations:

  • Death: As a doctor, his duty is to place his patient's furthest away from death. He is foremost a doctor, hence many of his other quirks and traits are superseded by his code as a doctor, to heal and repair his patients. When doctoring, he even finds it possible to resist cracking a witty joke if it comes to him which goes to show how much he values his doctorship. When a patient inches closer to death, he becomes increasingly motivated to at least stop the progression for the time being if he cannot widen the gap at all. Indeed during the act of healing he becomes very sombre and serious so as to devote all of his attention and being into the task at hand to get the job done. In many cases, as a doctor when healing death is a real factor, an eminent threat. An ever looming one at that. It may never be bested, but it can be made to retreat.

  Fears:

  • Death: He does not fear the end. He knows very well that when his time will come, it will be over. Deaths caused by his inability or incapability to heal, those terrify him. Having come to terms with the fact that probably no one would miss him in his death, he somehow redirects that primal urge to survive into helping his patients. Their deaths always come at great loss to his self. He blames himself, if only he tried harder, if only he had studied more, if only he were stronger. His patient's death brings great insult to his name. Even if there was nothing he could have done given a trillion years to save that person, it injures him. It is not the threat of death which gives him fear, it is when they are dead that the sense of failure comes down on him like a ravenous tiger on a plump gazelle. He's the gazelle. A really skinny one though.

  • Apotemnophobia: Specifically, he fears the loss of his limbs. Having seen many recent amputees, he cannot resolve the image of him with the lack of a limb or two. How would he walk, how would he eat, how would he adapt. Well, being a doctor, he knows exactly the coping skills he would need to develop. But still, being a phobia, it is irrational and is perpetuated irrationally. It is a fair bit of the reason that he opts for support style of magic than a combative one. Plus as a doctor of medicine, it would be fairly difficult he presumes, to administer medicine with no arms. Loss of legs perhaps would not be as bad, he could get a lacrimatic scooter, maybe to move around. That would be neat. His arms, specifically his hands are important to him though.

Magic

  Magic Name: Salvation

  Magic Element: Light

Magic Description: Magic created for the sake of enhancing medical care. Takes the user's mana and converts it into physical energy to affect the user's surroundings. When used, a spell will emit a warm glow which is reminiscent of its elemental composition of light. The primary use of this magic is to remove damage from a target. It does this in fixed increments based on the input of magic energy. The magic has the potential to heal any potential targets of potentially any level of hurt to full health, potentially. Other uses of the magic includes increasing skill levels of innate attributes and manipulating light to create peripheral augmentations. To buff the attributes of a target, the user has to channel his mana directly into them by touch, as long as the target is literally in arm's reach they can be affected. This can potentially allow him the user to increase the skills of those around him to raise an army of unmatched prowess. Provided he can provide the magic supply, of course. As for peripheral augmentations, it is things like creating a tangible plank of light in order to traverse a rift cut through the earth or just producing light to see about the user in deep dark cave. The magic also has the capability to drain the target of their attributes, perhaps remove their ability to be efficiently motile, or sap the target of any physical resistance that their body can provide so even a gentle breeze can tear them asunder. Still, it is mainly a medical magic, it mostly heals and makes light.

History

History: Born to an under-aged mother and alcoholic father in a wet, dark part of Fiore, he grew up in poverty. His childhood home was a makeshift hut in an impromptu hamlet in the middle of the aforementioned wet, dark part of Fiore. When he was about the age to start school, his father suddenly as if by some magic spell cleaned up his act and got a job. He attended the school until he was ten, which is when he was whisked away by a humble consortium of bad people.
Small, frail, and nonathletic, they employed the boy as their janitor slash general purpose slave. It was during this time that he discovered his talent in medicine, often assisting their doctor in routine standard procedures. The doctor was a kind of an unwilling contractor, not truly affiliated with the 'humble consortium', he was literally brought in one day at gun point. It was a few years later that Bishop, the doctor and some other involuntary employees escaped to the surface world.
Returning home, he discovered his parents had moved away from their hut in the hamlet in the wet, dark part of Fiore. Not knowing what exactly else to do, he returned to school, also taking up a part time job. He discovered his aptitude for magic, which was great. He was approached to become student to a medical mage, which he accepted. He learned a great deal about the art of convalescence. He finished his schooling, and was part way through his studies with his magic teacher when he was again picked up by the humble consortium of bad people from earlier in his life.
They were pissed that they had lost so many slaves, so when they learned the whereabouts of one they swooped in and abducted him. He was taken to some factory in the middle of the night. They tried to beat out of him the location of the other former prisoners, but he honestly did not know where they could be. It had been years since he had seen them, of course.
They carved his face with modestly sharp knives and pummelled his face in with their bare knuckles. Eventually they got bored, so to dispose of the body, they dumped him in one of the hundred vats of acid in the factory. The acid -whatever it was intended for- burnt the pigment in his skin stark white. Somehow he removed himself from the vat, and attempted to heal himself His hair reacted with the mixture of acid and magic and became green. The irises of his eyes had their colour changed to red.
The lingering insistent pain from the acid burns and the torment caused by him being shunned because of his appearance changed him. He became, for a time gripped on revenge for this attack. Enlisting the aid of an assassin, he located and dispatched a fair few of the consortium himself, the rest being done in by the assassin.
His anger was not sated, and now he had taken a number of lives. He locked himself away in a dark room for a few weeks, subsisting off barely enough food to survive. The time spent alone with his thoughts and himself maddened him. He was the same, yet transformed. Some of his personality remained intact while the rest corrupted in -at first- small ways.
He never ended up coming to terms with what happened or himself, but he ended up terminating his self-enforced imprisonment anyway. He's not entirely sure what to do with himself or with the world, but he's trying to figure everything out.

Expand paragraphs a bit for certain personality fields and the magic. For the dislike 'Hurt' unless you're gonna avoid situations in which you might get hurt, you're gonna have to change that.
